Now, if I can send any character over, because it's an account-wide reward, then fine. I still won't transfer anyone - I'll just create a disposable character on Exalted.

I've spent seven years on the same server. All my investment in server-specific things is there. I am not going to uproot to avoid the "unwashed masses" of F2P players. (I learned how to avoid the unwashed masses long ago!) As such, I certainly don't expect to be left out of anything VIP-relatd just because of that server loyalty. I am not predicting that outcome from this event, but if that does end up happening, they're going to be getting some nastygrams from me.

    Yup, this is my boat.

IF they allowed SG bases to be saved like costume slots, and ported over with the SG leader, then I might consider moving to Exalted when I built up enough transfers to move all my characters.

But my characters are all linked, I've spent a TON of time and resources on their bases, they RP, and there's no way I'm going to move any of them off to be a stranger in a strange land with no resources.

And for what? So I can play with a bunch of strangers? I can already do that on Virtue if I want to!

I also have at least 3-4 real life friends who've had a tough time the last year who haven't been able to justify sub money for an MMO in their lives. They're planning on coming back as Premiums, and I'd rather play with them than a bunch of other strangers just because those strangers, like myself, pay a sub.

I really tend to want more in common with folks than that :P

Actually, I see this on Virtue all the time.

My gaming partner and I have discovered that some tip missions, no matter what, will always bounce you into another zone than the one you take it in... unless you're in Atlas. For some reason, aside from the two 45-50 "go to the Rogue Isles" missions that always start on Statesman's helipad, all tip missions you take in Atlas will stay in Atlas.

So... after 7 years of avoiding Atlas like the plague, suddenly I spend more time there than any other zone. And yeah, there's a lot of that spam going on constantly.

    *shrug*

2: Vigilante content in the Rogue Isles + Paragon City outside of tip/morality missions (Taking down crooks who the Zig is too good for, going to the Rogue Isles to hunt down someone who's crossed the line, fending off people wanting to bring you in for your brand of justice.)

3: An expansion to the selection of tip and morality missions across the level ranges they occur in. (We had some vigilante and rogue tips added, and 1 new 40-50 Morality mission to each side, but that's it.)

4: Praetorian content on Primal Earth (Primal-fled Resistance trying to take action on an ex-Loyalist, possibly suspecting espionage, Loyalists tracking down Crusader Resistance members for heinous crimes they committed, persecution from Primal residents, a Praetorian-on-Primal subculture, or even Primals wanting to go to Praetoria, thinking it a 'better way'.)

5: Incorporating morality choices and points into story arcs (the arc where you get a warrant put out against you by Crey would make a great point to go Vigilante, or maybe the heat of Arachnos convinces a villain that Paragon might be a safer place to operate.)

6: A chance for heroism in the isles/villainy in the city. More chances to do evil on your own terms, or go to the isles to try and do some good. Especially lacking on the latter.
Man, I'd love to see all these things.

Of course, the devs tend to release things "into the wild" and then never come back to them, so I can't really see it happening, but I agree with you that it would be awesome and add huge depth.

    Yes, yes I do.

    It is a costume slot.

It should not be the same price as an entire playable powerset for ONE costume slot. That's TWO MONTH'S worth of VIP points for ONE costume slot.

I would not protest it being even 400 points, but let's get real here. 800 points is way too much.

Oh, I'm aware of all of that. And I do appreciate it. It just seems pretty high to me to have a single slot cost as much as a whole new powerset. If all 5 new slots were opening for 800 points, I'd be overjoyed, but each single slot? Ouch.

    Global friend your friends.

Send them team invites when they are on.

Bingo. It is no longer a chore for them to group with their friends.

And spending a few dollars lifts this onus.

A few things from the old prices are so amazingly expensive, that it doesn't seem worth it in the least, and I'm praying some of those went down in price to make them actually affordable and worth the cost of actual money, and not that I have to wait 14 months just to get enough, and nothing ELSE just to get them.

I love everything about Issue 21 and Freedom, just the old prices scare me greatly, and I truly hope the new ones are worth it. I'd hate to have to leave the game, on the ideal that all Paragon Studios cares about is $5 and $10-ing people, rather than nickle and dime-ing.
Yeah, I gotta agree with that. The Beta price list I've seen is really kinda insane on some points. $10 for a costume slot, 800 points? Yeeesh.

So what if it does clip?

And what's funny about my sig? I want a new hairstyle shown in these screenshots, so therefore... as you say, wut?

I uh... would really really rather have the hands we have now than have my characters look like that O.o

I presume that's a separate hand rig that must keep the fingers in that particular configuration, not one that could hold weapons or change poses for casting.

The aura from the Ember Demon has a variant of the Ember Shield that's small and rather nicely done. The effect for ice shields could be pulled from the small crystal effect of Frostwork.

The original effects should be kept by those who want them but the more subtle effects would probably be best as default for newly created characters.
I would seriously kill for more subtle effect on both those powersets. A nice, sparkly snowflake aura would be fine and not turn other people's characters into rock candy!

But there already IS. You can go safely through the Vanguard base at level 1 and access the tailor there immediately.

That's one of the design decisions that's really made me scratch my head.

Yeah... I knew TW wasn't going into this issue, but up until very recently StJ was. I'm so bummed out about that. My name camp will sadly sit there at level 1 until that comes out. I've got zero interest in Beam Rifle.

The ONE thing I look forward to over all is the 10-costume-slot item. Oh my god, I'm getting that IMMEDIATELY.

I am going to roll a Time character and am looking forward to that.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new tutorial, because my favorite AT is Corruptor (but I hate redside) and getting them blueside is a 20+ level pain right now.

    Manoa,

I read your blog, I liked your blog, I thought it was full of interesting thoughts and linked it to this thread first thing.

That said, could you address the question I threw out that it seems the original addressee will not answer?

Previously, a returning vet had to plunk down $15 in order to play for a month, see their characters, have access to their loot, etc.

Now, presuming they don't have enough accumulated vet rewards to have permanent access to IOs, they now have to plunk down $2 in order to access their loot for a month.

How is that not a step up for the returning player?

I'm wondering how many other players have free Character Slots saved up and which server are you going to redeem them on?

Interesting fun fact: if you spend your monthly stipend on nothing but character slots you'll earn the 12 new slots in 10 months.
I've always spent all my new slots immediately on Virtue, and have no plans to play anywhere else.

I've got 2 empty spots there, and 2 "name camps" holding names for characters I intend to make with new powersets when they are released to the public.
