As far as I can tell the RECENT face changes are just because they merged Masks With Hair and Standard head types. When I went to the costume creator with each character, I had to search and re-find each character's face (I've got 20+ characters and they all use different faces except a pair of twins) - but all their faces were still there.
I DID lose 2 faces in the CoH/CoV face merger, including a character using Glowing Eyes that now uses Supernatural Face 13 and Alpha Aura on her eyes, but I haven't lost any this time, male or female. -
Quote:I disagree that they're not significantly different, but I agree with you that the pack really is too thin to merit buying. I didn't buy the Party Pack, either, because it wasn't enough value for the money. But I had the point lying about, you know?I meant it more in the sense that they're not all THAT terribly different from what we already have. Sure, they have their uses, but are they worth buying the whole pack? No, not really. Are they worth buying in pieces? Eh, probably, but not immediately as they come out.
That's my point - I WANTED to buy the pack just because I wanted to buy the pack, but I disagree with the policy behind the pack. I'm no longer going to buy these things in good faith.
I think all the parts in the pack are worth having, I just think the pieces that are missing are significant enough to raise a hue and cry over. It's not that what's there isn't great - we just deserve more than that. -
Quote:I've been buying points on the NCsoft account management screen, and using Paypal, NOT the card attached to the account. The card attached to the account is my husband's and we budget closely on it, but my Paypal account is my own money so when I want to play, I use that.I can? That would help. How DOES one buy points, actually? I've been subsisting on the unexpectedly high amount of points I got at I21 launch so I haven't bought any with real money. Can I do a one-off purchase with a card that doesn't stick around anywhere afterwards and doesn't have to be on file beforehand? That would be the ideal solution, I think.

Gonna disagree with you there, Sam. That's your opinion, and it's valid, but I wish you wouldn't make that a blanket statement. There are plenty of folks (ie, the group I hang out with, anecdotes being what they are, YMMV) that like the hood and belt just fine. In fact, I LOVE the hood, and find the open-neckness of it a very desirable addition to the costume options.

Quote:AND the long skirt and the armored gloves. And probably the little demi-cape, but you can't see his back.Just to throw another shrimp on the barbie, it's not a "players only get minion costume parts" thing. This shot was taken while running one of my MA arcs:
Ice Thorn minions get the hat and belt....
(N.b.: none of my characters would be caught dead wearing that hat anyway.) -
Quote:No, but it's about the funniest thing I've read in a while.Regeneration. The powerset is called Regeneration. There is no such powerset (and no such premise) as "self empathy".
"I don't really care about other people, but I have the ability to feel MY feelings and empathize with them!"
Orly!
Right? -
Quote:Is it bad that I kinda wish there was a setting for this? The public, as demonstrated by this thread, requests, nay DEMANDS, City of Heroes: Silent Movie.
Give us all the silent action packed missions we've come to expect, but just pause the action anytime something needs to be said so a tile card with narration can come up. This way people who hate sounds, are colorblind, or just miss the Vaudeville circuit can come and enjoy this game the way it should have been made in the first place.
Also, create a "Scamp" AT. -
I agree.
I also really thought they'd help me out here - I'm colorblind*, and I really expected that, with the launch of Free-to-Play, Paragon Studios would naturally republish the entire game in greyscale so that people like me no longer have to be taunted by other people with their fancy colors they've spent the last 6 years tricking out. -
I'm not actually sure it's unintended. I think they wanted it to be obtrusively obnoxious so that they had to spend at least SOME money just to relieve the aggravation.

Quote:Yeah, I gotta agree with that. I'm not a fan of that spiky business on the sides, but you know, it's closer than anything else has been!Nice, I like it a lot. Though, I kind of wish we had the option of the the skirt minus the side skirts.
That's my second character to get parts. I think that costume uses pieces from almost every darn pack! There's the CoT chest, hood and kilt, the barbarian corset guard, arm-lacings and rough pants, the samurai gloves, resistance boots, and the magic high-collar cape. Plus the "rocky crumble" aura on her feet so she really looks like she's still got the dust of the desert on her. <3
Seriously, I DO agree with the complaints about how thin the pack is and how much SHOULD have been included in it. I really hope they go back and put more in this - and I hope they DON'T decide to just squeeze us for another pack. But I think these pieces are a little more versatile than folks might think! -
Quote:Nope. Gonna disagree with you there. The second problem is that there was some friction in the help channel when f2p players started using it to look for groups. The channel nazis (in /help, really? *sigh*) discouraged them from using it.
Second, right now, /help is the closest thing to a global channel that f2p players can get. Don't discourage them from using it. Heck, treat them nicely as possible. We WANT these guys to stick around and play with us, and hopefully become premium or VIP players!
Help is too important to the free playerbase - to help them figure out how to actually PLAY THE GAME to have questions bumped off by idiots misusing the channel to LFG. That channel is busy enough with chatter, it does NOT need LFG spam in it too.
We should all be trying to keep the Help channel as clean as possible for the new folks, so they can get their questions answered, NOT encouraging people to junk it up with LFG spam. -
Quote:That's not entirely true. I level up my characters with tip missions. They're easily available, and really not more repetitive than the rest of the missions in this game - same tilesets, same enemies, same fairly generic mission text (let's be honest - very few missions/arcs in this game are really interesting storywise, and some of us have been playing for so long that even those are sorta been-there-done-that.) It's like running paper/scanner missions, but with much greater benefits. Whichever character I happen to play, I'm generating alignment merits while still leveling, and playing a great variety of characters. It's really all the different ATs and powersets that keep my interest, not the missions, so it works out well for me. If I had just one character constantly generating AMs, THEN I would be bored to death.Alignment Merits are a very strong motivator... but they cannot be realistically attained on unlimited characters. Depending on your dedication, it makes sense to have a few characters to generate Alignment Merits. The alignment of the rest of your characters can be freely based off teaming flexibility (Rogue/Vigilante), stronger powers (Frenzy/Call of Justice), or just theme.
-
Quote:Heh, this! Alignment merits > the abillity to do all missions on every character.Funny you should post this, because I usually feel the opposite way: to me, being able to do any mission on one character (in a game that encourages alts) doesn't feel like much compensation for easy access to rare and expensive items from hero merits. Also, the alignment powers for full heroes/villains are generally better than the rogue/vigilante powers.
Quote:IMO, Vigilantes and Rogues have it much worse than heroes and villains. If I want to do content on one side or the other, I can just use a different character. Considering I hate redside, I only have one or two villains anyway and see no need to give up the love that is hero merits just to spend time over in that hellhole. -

One thing I am kinda miffed about - no thorn swords/knives? Boo!

Quote:Can't do the shoulders, she's already wearing different ones for concept reasons.Tried that costume with the Barbarian ring belt and barbarian plain furry boots?
Looks like that would match more, maybe? Even some barbarian shoulders.
Just a suggestion
Didn't want to wear the ring belt, just wanted something that looked more like "finishing off" the top of the kilt. It has a weirdly abrupt look without the belt.
And I hate the furry boots, they're too Santa-y. I actually really like the Resistance boots because they look like they're just kinda patched together from worn old leather. Not really a match for the Resistance tech look, but great (IMO) for someone on the primitive side -
But Sam!! This pack FINALLY gave me the loincloth I needed for my barbarian costume!
That plus the muscular bikini from the barbarian pack makes me sooo happy...

Quote:You know, this is really true. I've got all three Celestial pieces, I've got some 3k points sitting, and I don't particularly like the incarnate system. Believe me, it's crossed my mind more than once that now I can essentially unsub and get everything I care about for free.Looking at it in that light, in my opinion there should be MORE VIP exclusive content, not less.
The character slots hold me back though >.> -
not that I'm aware of... but seriously, the costume creator needs ANOTHER serious overhaul. Why can't they just freaking alphabetize the pieces? Not to mention trying to figure out exactly what section they've hidden things in...
-
Yeah, the lack of the little capelet is some serious nonsense. What could that POSSIBLY clip with that doesn't ALREADY clip with similar capes?

Quote:Me too! I was really not looking forward to seeing the pope-hats everywhere and have no use for them myself, nor the big stupid antler shoulders, so I bought the set, am pleased with the set, and have put stuff into my characters already.Think im the only one who wasnt interested in the hat and more "want!" about the robes and torso options
Baby going to ride in style tonight!
That being said...
Quote:I did purchase it, and there are several items I will get use out of. I am still not as happy as I could be though. This could have been an out of the park hit with one or two more items in it. As I said, I can understand the long skirt not being it, but the other items like the hat, cool belt, and the strapped on gloves not being in there is just frustrating.
And meanwhile, I'm still waiting for several important costume related bugs (freaking female beast heads anyone?!??) to be addressed, so my goodwill is running a bit thin.
