  1. Dang it! I forget about that little tip.

Coulda saved myself a heck of a lot of time last night.

Ah, I see. Sorry about that Aggelakis. Once I saw the link to the wiki my brain just skipped over the rest.

So in conclusion; pet speech bubbles are gone, (except for default responses to commands and clever NPC channel useage.) and there's no evidence that they're even aware?

Yes, I know it's a very minor issue. I'd at least like to find out the status even if it is a simple: "Not important. We'll take a look if we find ourselves with a few days spare."
  3. I'll have to agree with the others.

If you're sniping something, you generally want it dead quickly. Slot Manticore for the damage proc.

If you really, really, really, REALLY want the ranged defense bonus then still use Manticore instead. You only lose 1.25% ranged defense and get much better bonuses and also save a slot.

If you're talking about using it as a bonus proc and not as part of a set, don't.
  4. That's the one I remember, Master-Blade.

But we don't want a kludgey workaround with delay!

What's happened to the pet speech bubbles?
Does anyone know for certain and has a link to the relevant patch notes or dev post?
  5. I'm picturing more of a ghost-story serial killer.

An urban legend similar to the Candyman myth, speaking the name Seven three times in a mirror causes the spirit of the serial killer Patrick 'Seven' Times to appear and slay the summoner, taking on the form of the first victim and killing another 6 people before vanishing.

    Every time a person

    is killed by Seven,

    Seven takes their

    body for his own.

The legend was updated in the 1980's after people were being told to say Seven seven times, instead of three.

The legend is now known as SEVEN THRICE.

    Leaving

Well, I'm glad to hear that it's not because of something bad.

Though I have to ask: What now?

So my question is this.... Is it worthwhile to start playing a game where people have been playing for months or even years. In LOTRO when I started a new account, I realized that there were no players the newbie zones and that meant that there were no players to group with in instances.

If I start playing this game am I going to be running solo until I get to a high level?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Yes. Yes it is.

    Ridiculously so.

I can't think of any other MMORPG where you can start fresh and (almost)immediately make a contribution to a high-level team.

Though if you're on trial you'd do well to set your team tag to looking for anything and also have the comment about being in a trial.
  8. I should've linked there as well. I've seen that already.

    Other threads concerning the matter:
There was another thread where a person had posted a workaround where they could have their pets speak in the NPC channel and have the speech bubbles appear, albeit a second or two after the original command is given. Though I have forgotten where that was.
  9. Hello.

I'm looking to determine, once and for all, whether the mastermind /petsay speech bubbles are permanently gone or whether they were a minor and unintended side effect of the patch that partially disabled the use of < and > in macros (as mentioned HERE) and will be returned at a later date.

For those of you who are not aware of the issue; while the /petsay command will still display what you've told the pet to say in the Pet channel, a speech bubble will not appear as it did earlier. Default pet responses to commands still appear in speech bubbles however.

I've made numerous attempts to locate information and/or a developer post with even a passing mention of the subject but have had no success.

I know it's a bit of a non-issue but is anyone able to assist anyway? Possibly a link to the appropriate patch notes or something similar?
  10. I'll have to agree with the RedCaps gnome tossing and Jaunt; the random, short ranged, viable location teleport. (I don't think it is called Jaunt, but Jaunt would be a good name for it, if we ever did get it.)

And also flamethrower npc powers. With actual flamethrowers!

I'll take Chill of the Night as well since that'd be very, very nice as an ancillary or patron power for tankers/brutes.

I had always heard/thought that a "Concept Character" was a character who's powers were choosen to fit a specific concept/character idea, with many ending up not being very good or as good as they could be. (examples; a petless Thug MM, a Riffle/Devices blaster , a grav troller not choosing more of their primaries.)
I'd always figured that the concept character was one created to fit a particular idea or concept. Of course some power choices may be optimal for the concept, but not optimal for gameplay. For example; the crazy(clown) sniper with assault rifle and devices, or the vengeful spirit killer whose powers I can't recall as it wasn't one of mine; though it was a stalker.

Or my favourite concept character: The Dopplegang.

A scientist who was working on low energy teleportation (for public use) and ended up with a clone generator, hive mind and the best barbershop quartet since these guys.

They are still working on the low energy teleporter despite having turned towards 'creative financing' in order to fund their research.
  12. If you intend on using sniper rifle in combat, invest heavily in interrupt reduction.

I don't know if it's supposed to use the endurance as soon as it is activated, but you're definately meant to activate [Sniper Rifle] and wait patiently until it actually fires. But you're the first person to mention it; so I'm guessing that it's a non-issue.

All the snipes are like this. Except stalker patron snipes where the patiently waiting portion is quite longer.
  13. I'd like to recommend the instanced missions available in this game where you won't be in public areas, but as you've clearly indicated your unwillingness to change your playstyle and since I can also understand the appeal of streetsweeping I'll just hope I don't accidentally come across you ingame.

Which server do you play on AnimeWarrior?
  14. For myself, it's largely a matter of dps/dpa.

I do take snipes because I love the concept of the sniper-hero/sniper-villain, but can never figure out why they don't just increase the damage and the recharge time.

Still, when Going Rogue comes around; my blaster is so switching sides.
  15. *prepares a heaping bowl of kudos*

    *forgets the pork*

    *makes gazpacho instead*

Gazpacho'lations on two very quick taskforces Xaeon and team/s!
  16. I don't know if this is really the best thing to recommend to someone who's already sick since I've already stayed up late the past two nights reading it until I went to bed with a headache Friday night/saturday morning.
I don't really recall where I got linked to it from though.
    This is the first page.
    It has mature content.

Now here are three other webcomics I can recommend without guilt:
    • The Meek. It has nudity. Just casual nudity though. Oh hey, there's some breasts. And there's some moobs. It's also got great artwork.
    • The Abominable Charles Christopher. Gorgeous linework, good humour and a good read. If you like being dissapointed when you get to the end of the archives, this is for you!
    • Guilded Age. It's funny, well-presented and includes alt-text messages like Dr McNinja.
  17. While I can't claim to any expert knowledge, my train of thought leads me to believe that Hasten would be the best option for autofire.

    Logic follows:
    • Rage will only be needed when actively fighting.
Meaning that you don't actually need it between spawns.
So if it runs out while you're moving from one spawn to another, no problem.
    • Active Defense will only be needed when fighting enemies with mez or defense debuff.
So you don't really need it on all the time, you just have to remember to use it before battle.
    • When you DO need Active Defense or want Rage however, you're definately going to need those two abilities available for use and fully recharged.
    • Hasten will be boosting the recharge of Active Defense and Rage while you're in between fights.
And if Hasten runs out, and you forget to reactivate it, then it's going to be longer for the other two abilities to be available.
  18. Ok, first off. Unless there's a specific event going on, Bloody Bay is ALWAYS dead. Every server. Every minute. Every day.

    No. Always.

    Not even then.

    Or then.

Okay maybe then, but not at any other time!

But yeah, pvp isn't really dead in Virtue, just comatose.

If you're really, really looking for pvp then head to Freedom.
    It's slightly less limp.
  19. In my own experience Quinz, I'd have to say that the whole thing about Pocket D is mostly a self-propagating meme.

In all the times I've been there I've only encountered one 'adult' situation.
  20. Doubtful.
I had to uninstall the CoHtest along with a couple of other things so I could successfully defrag my computer and, recalling the shift-fight it was for me to get it installed and working in the first place, I think I'll keep off of the test server.

I'll support the Virtuites, but it'll be from the comfort of my own server.

    Soul Mastery...

You're talking about removing Darkest Night from the Ghost Widow brute/widow/soldier patron pool and replacing it with Soul Storm?

Well I'm certain that there would be a few other people who think as you do, though I'm not one of them. I'd prefer to have Soul Storm instead of Summon Widow, but then I hardly ever take the patron pools.

It IS mildly annoying that we can't get a different pool depending on which branch we take with our Widows, but considering the complexity of the VEATs, I guess they had to choose the one which was the closest fit.
  23. I'll have to admit I'm not really seeing a criminal/rogue/vigilante aspect to the character.

As far as I can tell, he was a mutant who never wanted to do anything with their powers until a friend got injured while they were there and now they've wised up to the whole 'great power/great responsibility' deal.

Is their primary motivation the safety and welfare of others? The enforcement of the law? Or is it the thrill, attention, privileges or benefits of being a registered hero?

Because if he's mainly doing it for the attention or the prospect of enhanced dating opportunities, (which I doubt, since you'd mentioned him being like Batman) then the name Showbird is available.

    Ideas for events

I'd have to say the first one.

The third one's too hard to verify and the second one's too limited in how many can participate.
