  1. Light form is 52.5%. The other numbers are mentioned above.
  2. I did try slow enhancements at one point. That was quite a while ago now. I may give them another shot at some point - you know what it's like, something works for you and you don't ever get round to trying new things.

Out of curiousity, how did you test the taunt effect of mud pots?
  3. How so? I know ice for instance is supposed to have a good taunting aura but I wasn't aware stone was at a huge disadvantage to any of the others.

Stonetanks have the worst aggrohold capability, you can end up building one that can take all the damage but for nothing if the team is recieving it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Stone tanks have a very good ability to hold aggro. It's stone tanks wearing Granite that have a much harder time holding it.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Accually, it is 27.5% for the three shields, which is about about 45% resistance with 3 SOs...

    [/ QUOTE ]

22.5% base, ~36% with 3 SOs. There is a resistance cap thread a little further back that has all the figures.
  6. All three shields are 22.5% res. Incandecence is about 11%. Dwarf, 37.5%. Throw in a couple of scrappers and a blaster and you'll be hitting 67% for S/L/C/F and ~80% for E/NE in human form on a team. Not too bad.

As you guessed, it's all down to personal preference on how you want to play. Human form is most versatile but you are more of a scrapper than blapper - the ranged attacks just aren't as good as the melee ones and are usually only there to fill the attack chain. You can be very survivable and do some good damage but get mezzed and things can go downhill fast.

A well slotted dwarf can tank pretty well but never as well as a proper tank. The resistance isn't enough to keep you alive against large numbers either. Get the attacks slotted up and you can happily work your way through mobs in relative comfort tho.

At lower levels, nova form can put out more damage than a blaster. They tend to overtake later on however. Still, if on a team with a good controller or tank holding aggro, nova will consistently dish out more damage than any of your other forms can.

As for acrobatics, I'd not go without it now. The number of times I died because I was knocked on my back and couldn't hit heal or pop a respite. And there is nothing more annoying than setting up for Dawn Strike and getting knocked halfway across the room just before it goes off....
  7. Currently 3dmg, 2 endred and a taunt. Taunt was only thrown in as there was nothing else useful to put there but when I remember I'll change it for an acc now that it isn't auto-hit anymore. Does ok damage and considering I only have 2 attacks I do use it when soloing to herd a few up and then go off for a coffee.
  8. Only teamed with you a few times the last few days but big gratz.

I just might take you up on that

Haven't thought about it...im full up with lvl20 DO enhancements...and my character has passed his newbie hero phase so it's time he ditched his T-shirt and combats and got some spandex

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a serious offer. Not like I'm short of inf.

Besides, if you spend all your inf on a nice new costume, you'll never have enough for all those shiny new SOs in a couple of levels time. And shiny new SOs are the best.
  10. I've seen other figures for build up quoted at 100% base dmg and 62% acc. I assume base damage means it's applied before enhancements and other buffs?

Tanker damage cap is 400% (+300% of normal) as far as I know. Don't think there is an accuracy cap, but you can never get better than 95% to hit, whatever your accuracy is.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the help...right...back to choosing which cape to get for my lvl20...and whether I can justify the inf

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well thats not a problem. Give either of my first two chars a shout if I'm on and I'll sort you out a cape donation.
  12. Was on a team last night with a stone tank (late 30s) that didn't have tp, stayed in Granite and always had rooted on too. Lets just say most of the fights had finished before he actually got close enough to hit anything....
  13. I actually like teleport and it is a good way of getting somewhere quickly. Much more useful when combined with Hover as Irradiator said (and fun - imagine hovering high over a group before turning on Granite and 'bombing' them).

Downsides. Very end heavy. You should slot at least one endred as soon as you get it and I seem to remember I still needed stamina before it didn't run out trying to get across large maps. Without hover, you also might drop somewhere nasty if there is lag. Tho I've never used it myself, there is a macro which people say makes using tp easier. It's not very good when scouting for glowies on outdoor maps.

Good things. Virtually essential for stone tanks. Makes moving around in granite or rooted so much easier. Good for escaping too - you can find yourself boxed in with rooted or granite on and no way to get past mobs - tp gives you a quick 100yrd getaway option.

As for the other powers in the pool. Not many people use tp foe but it has it's uses I guess. Team teleport is fairly pointless in most cases. Recall friend is great. Probably even more useful for a tank as they often find themselves as the last man standing and can run away and tp the dead teamates to a safe location for rezing.
  14. Don't think 'Yay' is a good enough word for news this good!!
  15. Stamina isn't really needed. I recently went for a repec and decided to drop the fitness pool. My reason were that although I had a good, solid build it was a little dull and I didn't always feel like I was contributing enough to the team. I respeced in Reform Essence to replace Health, Conserve Energy for Stamina and Hasten for Swift.

I do get end issues but I can work around them. All my attacks are slotted with an endred which helps. For short fights I can manage without Conserve Energy. If it drags on, I'll pop a CAB and then hit CE. If it really drags on, it's either more CABs, lightform or switch to Dwarf or Nova for a minute or two. Half the time you'll have someone giving you RA anyway.

I mostly stay in human but switch to Nova if there is a good tank holding agro. Dwarf is for emergencies (and dancing funny)

My build (Slots may be slightly off - going from memory)

  16. I don't think Unthing was saying it made him or other tanks more 'scranky' as it only really affects low level players, just that the move might indicate the Devs favouring damage over aggro control. At least at low levels. Personally I think it might just be that most tanks don't get taunt at that level anyway as they can't handle the aggro so it makes more sense for them to get another attack instead.

As for the term 'Scranker', it is accurate. A Tanks job is to hold aggro and not do damage. If they can do both, all the better. I'm sure, like most people on these boards, I have no problem with people playing their character however they like. They should make sure people are aware that they may not be able to perform the job the team expects them to tho.

I have been on a fair few teams recently where the tanks have been scrankers. One perma-granite tank didn't have Mud Pots, Fault, Tremor or Taunt - I was stunned. There was no way he could hold aggro. He was playing as he wanted but I and loads of other people on the team died a lot more than we needed to. I would not team with him again unless there was another tank on the team and we needed a low damage scrapper....

    Still drunk?! As if.....
  18. I take Faulty in Sirens now and again. He's harmless (only has stone fist and brawl at that level) but virtually indestructable. So I was sat in the villian hangar having a look around when a Brute appears. He watches me for a moment (I'm not moving) and then cautiously gets closer. I was expecting him to try and poke me with a stick or something. I happened to have stone fist on auto and as soon as he gets closer enough, he gets hit and scampers away. He edges around me for another minute or two and then I get a tell asking for help with another of my chars. So I quit to login and as soon as that 30 seconds appears over my head he leaps onto me. Brave chap.
I did giggle as I watched him trying to do more than 10 dmg for the next thirty seconds.

Also found a MM hovering high above sirens. He didn't react to seeing me so I guess was afk. Would take far to long to try and kill him (and is a bit unsporting) so I just hit brawl a couple of times and watched his jingle jetpack turn off. Don't think he landed on anything nasty....

Tankers don't have a duty to stand still for Assasin Strikes any more than the next person.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless you are a stone tank when you don't really have that much choice.

Went and stood about in Sirens again last night. Had a MM, Corruptor and 2 Stalkers attacking me for a good 5 mins at one point and they did no real damage. Only got hit with one AS all night and that was the one that killed me. That was only because it knocked off rooted and the other villians piled on me quick. I was a little drunk and slightly cocky by that point as well so didn't react very quickly.

It may burn end but running as many toggels as you can helps. I run 6 and even if one or two drop, they are usually not vital.
  20. I'm wondering if it was mud pots that was saving me by interrupting AS? I was definitely getting criticals hits against me but not for much damage. That might have just been the normal attacks and those are easily countered by my regen, defence and resistance.

I know my PBs dwarf still suffers badly when hit with AS and that has more resistance than Faulty.
  21. I've never seen any figures for the -defence of the attacks to be able to comment on how much they would help (am curious tho). According to an old US forum guide on PBs, the to-hit buff of nova is 12.5%. So 15% one slotted. Even 3 slotting won't take it to the level of replacing one acc SO (if his figures are correct).

I would imagine you would need to stack a few shots on the target before the debuff reached the same sort of level to drop the acc SO. I would say go for overkill. I only have one acc SO and do miss some targets a lot in PvP when in Nova.
  22. Ah, learn something new everyday. I don't PvP much (mainly with my PB when I do)

So wonder why they couldn't kill me then? Guess I'll have to go back and have some more fun to try and find out.
