    Forms of love!

I was thinking this was going to be a "but I'm not that limber" kind of discussion.
  2. Yea, it looks like a two week before option to bail contract. It was pulled from 44% of the screens for this weekend. It did drop below the magical $2K per theater weekend threshold that usually foreshadows a film being dropped for something new.

I think it'll do well on DVD/Blu-Ray, unless the nation has evolved past owning copies of a movie.

    One Piece Anime

Then the question is whether or not One Piece had more manga volumes to start with than DB, Bleach, Naruto or any other Shonen Jump series. Filler is injected usually because the next story arc in the manga isn't finished yet. It's usually that simple.

Right now its just pissing players off for the most part. Its sad that a reviewer of the game makes the running away one of the high points of the video. Do you really want CoX to be known as the game with run away mobs? This thing would be totally different if it wasnt nearly ever other spawn. Right now its just too out of hand. I reported this issue like 3 years ago and its exponentially gotten worse.
Do you prefer them to line up and attack single file like kung-fu movies?

Honestly if you are trashing them, running away seems to be the logical choice from their POV. Sorry you have to work for your XP.
  5. That's the problem with a question like this. Between their "sales" and rebates which seem to change daily in some cases (found a one day rebate recently) it's tough to say whether or not item A's increased performance is worth the price increase.

$135 after rebate for an HD 5770 is a steal.

Now across a wide range of game benchmarks, the HD 5830 is roughly 10% faster than the HD 5770 at 1920x1200 while the 768MB GTX 460 is roughly 20% (techPowerUp). With the stock 768MB GTX 460 or the HD 5830 at around $200, then the HD 5770 should be roughly less than $170 to get a better performance for the dollar.

But bang for the buck is only one metric. What if that extra 20% improvement in framerate moves you from choppy to smooth or allows you that extra boost in game settings or resolution? Is the extra power/heat and extra fan noise for dispersing that heat worth the performance and/or money? Both the HD 5830 and 768MB GTX 460 (they couldn't give it it's own name variation could they ) both use 25-30 watts (25%) more than the HD 5770.
  6. Well that explains why my Level 50 tank scatters Hellion and Skull mobs in Perez when I one punch one of the minions.
  7. I just finished watching the missing episodes of Defying Gravity which ABC didn't show last summer so seeing both Paula Garces and Laura Harris in the episode was a weird coincidence for me.
  8. He was rolled before I learned how awesome Air Superiority can be.
  9. 1) They just rolled out major content last week. We will be seeing frequent patches over the next month.

    2) Thursday is normally maintenance for a few hours in the morning, today also includes happen to include a patch to live.

    3) Sadly our Oceanic counterparts do end up getting the short stick for evening play when the servers go down in our (US) morning. Cut the dude some slack for venting.
  10. Have a gravity controller who I enhanced for Lift with Knockback Distance, Knockup in this case.

Two fun things to do with that. One, team with a blaster and skeet shoot critters the controller toss into the air after the blaster says "Pull". The other is while soloing, and if you have hover or fly, is to hover over a critter, lift it into the air but be close enough to it's apex to smack it with brawl (on auto). Not the most effective way to zero out it's hitpoints but it looks funny from a distance.

That's because few here wants to deal with Intel integrated graphics anymore, in laptops or desktops.

Edit: And Kinrad beats me to the -texenvcombine switch.

    Updater Error...

Well that is the most recent updater.

If you think the updater program is corrupted, you can download the NA installer from here. The client can only be updated via the updater.

You may want to post a CoHHelper and HiJackThis report so we here have an idea what hardware you have and what other software you have running in the background. Just follow the instructions in Hyperstrike's sticky thread about help.
  13. Siryn, your problem is your laptop can't handle Ultra Mode, you have all the UM settings on their highest, World Detail at 200% and 8xAA.

Also, don't thread jack. Similar symptoms doesn't mean same problem. Start your own thread please.
  14. If they ever did an early Anita Blake movie I would so be there. Unfortunately the later books in the series turns into something more suitable to late night Cinemax soft porn.
  15. Reminds me of doing /em sleep next to a one of the FC store contacts in Galaxy and watching how many people come along and join it. It's like standing on a sidewalk in a big city and look up and see how many people stop and look up as well.

    Satoshi Kon ...

I just saw the trailer for the upcoming movie Black Swan and there are aspects of that trailer that screamed Perfect Blue to me.

Kon's passing will leave a hole for psychological thrillers.
  17. I have a hopping bind (jump and autorun) and a SJ/CJ bind but I don't have them together for a good reason, I don't want to toggle off my SJ while at altitude. I've gotten quite good at judging when to toggle off my hop to land at a particular point and killing SJ, besides the impact damage, also drops your forward speed as well so I'll undershoot my target LZ.

A good, but pared down from top-of-the-line systems is about what I'm looking for.

Something just above average would be great.

Any collective thoughts on this one? The $800 price point appeals to me...!

But again, it comes with the OS which I don't need.

Also, I could do open-box for $720. Any common drawbacks with doing so?
The biggest problem with that system is the HD 5450. Great if all you are planning to watch are videos and play Zombies Vs Plants, lousy for 3D gaming. And I'm not being a video card snob here, the HD 5450 is over 6-7x slower than an HD 5770. It's a tad better than an 9400GT but that isn't saying a lot.

Open box means someone bought it, opened it, played with it, and sent it back. No idea if the previous short time owner played with it's guts, installed "bad" software or messed up the system in general. All they are guaranteeing, and that may be an exaggeration of the word, is that it turns on and has all the parts on the packing list.

If we know what you have today, maybe we can get an idea what's "better" relative to your current experience.
  19. SSDs bypasses the bulk of average seek time which is affected to a degree by RPM but not wholly.

RAM, it doesn't help that sound.pigg is now over 500MB in size since the patcher will read it into memory first to checksum it and patch it if necessary. Players with under 1GB of system memory will be hurting when the patcher starts flailing the HD swap file to handle it.

Every pigg file will be read in and written out regardless if it changes for the patch. This is the reason that fragmentation can occur after a patch. That and we have 24 files over 50MB each, 7 over 100MB. An empty drive has lots of contiguous space so not as much of a problem but if your drive is over 50% full, expect fragmentation. With four patches is 8 days (major GR patch, final GR patch, 2 minor patches) it's a good chance, unless you defragged at least once, that some of the game files are fragmented.

Trinculo is right, simply trying to see what I could get using the same budget while including all the same category of parts (such as a 3rd party CPU cooler). The memory is a good deal, a bit of performance kick for $3.

No doubt there's savings to be had if you scale back a little.. it's all a question of budget. Speed costs, how fast do you want to spend?

For example, if you are trying to trim some $ then

Drop the processor back some.. you can go down to a 3.0 gig instead of a 3.4 gig, and drop about $30 off the cpu.. Or better yet, drop back to a unlocked dual core like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103846 and droplike $70 off the cpu. The MB he selected has the 'core unlocker' capability, which means you may well get a quad core (if your cpu was downbinned) after all. (it's a roll of the dice, but so far from what I've heard the odds are in your favor) And it's an unlocked cpu so you can probalby overclock it to 3.4 or higher if you are into that kind of thing.

Coolermaster cases are great, but again you could save some there if you needed to, same with the PS which might be a bit of overkill at 750 watts. (although you might also want to drop to a lower power video card, I think an ATI 5770 draws less power than the nVidia unless I'm remembering wrong.

Anyway none of that is knocking with FatherX put together, it's just a point that if that config is outside your budget, then you can shave things down a bit.

For another path to a slightly more affordable system, look at the $750 gaming rig he has linked (which is $671 at current prices) You could take that as a base and go with Most of what he has there, but swap in the MB, and Memory from the wishlist he made for you, and that dual core 'black' Phenom-II I listed above (and hope it turns out to actually be viable as a quad core) That could still be a pretty killer rig, and at a rough guess somewhere close to $750
CM was first looking at this DIY kit on NewEgg. The parts I didn't have a problem with were the motherboard, the memory. the DVD burner and the power supply. My original list was figuring out how to get better performance while saving enough money for a copy of the OS. That's why the 3.4GHz Phenom quad core Vs the 2.8GHz Phenom hex core and the OC GTX 460 768MB over the HD 5830. Yes, stock coolers don't give you anything to write home about but they will work fine at stock speeds so harvesting the money from that, the smaller case and the faster but less expensive CPU I was able to get within $16 while including the OS.

As for that Dell at Micro Center Mad Hobbit, it's like getting the high performance engine but not the racing brakes, 6 speed transmission or low profile tires on alloy rims. The i7-860 is a faster CPU and 8GB of memory should be more than enough for 99% of the populous for today's software but the HD 5770 is kind of budget for such a high end CPU. And that is solely because of the small PSU and a likely market classification between a Dell and an Alienware. A better video card and PSU would classify the system as a gamer platform and therefore Alienware's purview, not Dell's.
  21. Well the HD 4250 is still an integrated graphics solution and not an actual video card so while it should run, I wouldn't expect it to play well at a high resolution and/or graphic settings. Ultra Mode is right out.

It's less powerful than an nVidia 9400GT card, probably in the ballpark of nVidia's integrated 9300/9400 but still faster than Intel's.

Like most store bought PCs, it has a tiny 250W power supply unit (PSU) that for all practical purposes prevents you from installing even a modest video card without also swapping out the PSU.

    Nice system other than that.
