    Solo AE Mishes

Before you suggest I actually do real mishes outside of AE, I've done them for years and am tired of them. Right now I just want to explore new power types and how different powers work together.
    Since you asked...

From the ones in my sig below, I'd recommend Exploding Planet, #200411. It should be thematic for your Willpower/Superstrong tank.

It is soloable, but the final mission is very tough. It's timed, with lots of mobs. I've gotten feedback from people thanking me for the great challenge even though they failed it, people cursing me for creating a debt-machine, people exultant from succeeding narrowly, etc. your mileage might vary. The final mission might be easier to complete solo than on a team, actually.

I forget the arc number, but my "Super Size Me" arc is soloable, depending on the final Elite Boss. I've only failed once with that. I'd recommend it for anyone who has a very large toon. The missions are designed to make you feel like you are 12 feet tall.
  2. Also, consider the things you tank has a lot of, in order to magnify the bonuses you might want.

You have an ice/ice tank, so already we know that you have several defensive powers, and most of your attacks have a Slow component. Two of the slow sets offer reduced recharge on all of your powers, which is great, but requires a large investment in Slow, which is probably going to reduce your overall damage.

If you don't care about that and plan on being a team-based tank, cool.

If not, frankenslotting lower quantities of slow sets, maybe into in a couple of your attacks can get you +acc, +end and +recovery.

Sadly, I think all defensive (and resistance-based) IO sets are pretty expensive, that's just the way it is.

On your path to 50, did you exclusively team. Did you solo? Any particular tough opponents? How tough were the Rularuu on you when you were in the Shadow Shard? Did you find the Save the World mission tough or easy?

Did you dread doing Peregrine Island safeguard missions on difficulties higher than heroic since a lieutenant Dark Ring Mistress is not even as tough as a boss Dark Ring Mistress?

Your experiences as you played the game to 50 should highlight what areas you might want to boost, travel speed, damage, accuracy, health, etc.
  3. Welcome to the game.

The advice given above is excellent, of course.

I appreciate your concern that a tanker should taunt, I won't suggest you go tauntless (I have both types) but I do almost always recommend delaying taunt a bit.

Low level tanks are not bad, but other than good hit points, are not as survivable as you might assume. It's probably best to rely on gauntlet to pick up its share of aggro until you can handle more attention.

At early levels on a team, either you'll be fighting reasonable sized mobs that gauntlet would probably do good enough on (when Taunt would be overkill) or you are fighting unreasonably sized mobs that will get you killed fast, and then the team would have no tank. In those cases, it's best for the team to deal with excess aggro that a living tank isn't grabbing, vs. all the aggro that the dead tank isn't grabbing.

Once you get some hardened defenses and resistances, then choosing to take taunt is not a bad choice. I'm not saying delaying taunt into the 30s or something (although... it's interesting to do that...) just don't feel that you need it immediately.

    Exploding Planet
    ARC ID:200411
    Author:@ Fantastic Foe

Reason: I have never played any other arc like it. It created a whole new world, complete with a language and at the same time was so funny. I loved this arc!

Warning: You may fail in the last mission. I cheated by getting help and beat it by 1 second (yes it is timed and i normally don't care for timed, but it this care it fit).

    Tons of fun

    Hey, thanks! I'm blushing!

There are many really good arcs out there that have gotten very few plays. If your arc is one of these, and you would like it played, here is what I ask:

Play my arc In Pursuit of Liberty - 221702

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, played your Liberty arc this morning, and enjoyed it greatly. I'll run several toons of different archetypes through it, for comparison.

    best regards,
  6. I'll be happy to run your arc and send you feedback.

Should you opt to run one of my three arcs, I'd recommend Exploding Planet first, then Shadow of Grime Alley second if you liked Exploding Planet.

ExPlan can be done very quickly, the first three missions are fairly soloable, the final mission... it depends, but it's not hard because of any bosses or such (there are no bosses in the final mission.)

Good hunting, thanks for the space to advertise. (Arc ids in my sig)
  7. My missions are soloable, but your results may vary.

The final Elite Boss in Shadow of Grime Ally can be very tough, but not impossible.

I've easily soloed the first three out of four missions on my arc Exploding Planet, but the final mission is very tough. I've had comments from a person running a solo level 22 scrapper that the mission is impossible and was a sadistic debt fest, while I've soloed it with a DO-laden level 21 tank.

(Exploding Planet is my favorite arc, I run all my characters through it, often multiple times, no matter what their level. I enjoy seeing what level/build/powersets work in the final mission, and what don't.)

Should you attempt my Beanstalk mission, its loaded with Nemesis and some Rularuu, so I'd recommend higher characters, but the Elite Bosses are soloable, if tough.

    Good hunting.
  8. I just look for other invulnerability/superstrong tankers and suggest they play my AE mission arc, Exploding Planet.

That's what I do with one of my 50s.

I'm not sure if you can choose specific salvage at the ticket vendor because I blew all my tickets on unlockable conent for the MA and then never looked at the vendor again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At the AE ticket vendor, early on I acquired a piece of salvage I needed, but I might have dreamt that.

I know for certain that I sold a Random Bronze Level Recipe for 34 million influence in Wentworths.

Where do I buy these items?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are asking where to buy DOs and SOs, I recommend at level 12 getting your Science/Mutation DOs from the Mutant store in Steel Canyon, it's the closest to the train. At level 22 you can buy SOs from the Science Store in Indy Port, as it's closest to the train, but Talos Island's Science Store is not too far. Talos is usually a good shopping mall, due to its small size and closely located stores.

Should you need SOs at level 32, the Science store is a contact, not a building, in Brickstown, who will require a mission to unlock his stores.

If you are asking about buying IOs, Salvage, Recipes, you can get some randomly by redeeming tickets from AE. Otherwise, you use influence to either buy the recipe you need (just the regular IO, not a special set piece) from a crafting station at the Universities or if your superbase has one.)

Or you can purchase them if available, in recipe form or crafted enhancement form from the Wentworth's consignment house.

I wouldn't worry about saving for IOs (or SOs, really), it's not too hard to make cash as you need selling drops, and selling random rewards from AE tickets. I recommend spending time doing regular game missions and have AE forays. The nature of your AE missions is up to you, I prefer doing story-based missions over combat fests, but to each their own.

    Best regards
  11. Not sure if this is clever, but the fave mission that I've made so far was Exploding Planet, #200411. The initial mission contact and much of the NPC dialog in the first mission is in an alien language (it looks alien, I used unicode chars for circles, triangles, musical notes, etc to convey alieness). The goal of the first mission is not explicitly spelled out, until you find someone on the map that can grant you the ability to understand the language (and ends the mission, although more NPCs spawn at that moment who are non-combative, but speak your lingo and can give supplemental but not-essential context.)

The ability to understand begins to fade over time with the alien language making a return after your character has a more concrete idea what is going on, and what has to be done.

    best regards,
  12. Well, if you are going to solicit arcs from arc-writers...

Shadow of Kings Row, #144416 by @fantastic foe is a great story, 5 missions that can be worked through quickly or leisurely. Read the clues and feel like a darknight detective, or don't. It's fun either way.

As for ticket count, I have no idea. Probably way under your metric of 500/mission, since that sounds like a number that would require some mission design specifically for tickets. I think 200 tickets per mission might work out more likely, I think I consistently get over 1000 for the arc.

I don't recommend it for lower level teams, or solo characters who can't handle largish mob sizes. The final EB is defeatable, but is a tough fight.

    Best regards,

    4 Star Blues

In general, I seek out 4-star rated missions, in sympathy with my fellow authors. Do the same, spread the word. Make 4 the new 5.
  14. I have a similar problem, since I'm using unicode characters to simulate someone speaking an alien language.

I had a text overrun in RewardText, (I think that was what it was called) which is the text displayed on the console when a Captive is freed.

RewardText might apply when glowies are clicked, or hostages are successfully escorted etc, I can't definitively say.

BTW, if I have the field name wrong, please correct me, I'll try to recreate the error when I get home today and update this post if I was in error.
