It would help if you added the names of the contestants to the screenies, just so we have a clue of who actually won.

Quote:I've played all those stormies exhaustively and I think Earth/Storm might be my fave. Mind you, they are all beasty, but Earth offers all the control you need. And /Storm compensates the poor damage of Earth.I am coming back to the game form a 2 year absense. I am going to be playing on a team with 4 people (perhaps 5) on a regular basis. These are all first time COH players. I was initially going to build a Dominator, but for the criteria I mentioned they said a controller would be a better fit.
My question is on a small team of 4-5 players (including myself), which combo would be the best fit. The team-mates will be playing blaters and scrappers more than likely. I want to be able to debuff/buff, lockdown and heal. Damage wouldnt hurt either to help them out, but if they can pump out enough, it may not be necessary. After a bit of research since I have never played a controller before (my exp. has been with blasters and scrappers) Here is what I am leaning toward:
Fire/Time
Earth/Time
Plant/Time
---or----
Fire/Storm
Earth/Storm
Plant/Storm
What would be the best combo out of those for a smaller team of primarily offensive builds?
I can't advise on /Time because I haven't played it nor I plan to any time soon. Pun not intended :P -
I love my Sonic/Sonic defender and I'm actually considering making another Sonic/*. That's how good I think it is.
I don't care if "this" or "that" set can hit the same or better numbers than Sonic. I like Sonic the way it is (with the exception of Liquify - I agree it could be better).
Edit: Not to mention I hate Thermal's gfx. And that matters to me. -
While I've never been in a TT event nor I know what exactly do you fight against, I'd go Ice/ blindly.

Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles - bring da rum! Arrrr!

Quote:What's your time zone? If you only have to work at night, we can try to find a better fit. Although 3PM should be fine. I doubt we'd take over 2 hours.Sadly I have to work that night, otherwise I'd love to attend.
I'm going to be on that evening for a bit here and there though. You should announce the group shot in LFG Beta or some channel right before you do it. I'd love to see that many illusionists all gathered. -

Hi, Virtue.
Some of you might have noticed that I've been trying to organize an all-illusionist event lately. Due to short notice, people just weren't aware of this in time and therefore the event got postponed. Mea culpa.
This time I'm giving 2 weeks notice, which hopefully will be a safe bet
Straight to the point:
Time and place:
* Saturday, October 1st. Time will be set later on, but I'd aim for ~3PM EST
* Atlas Park, under the globe.
Requirements:
* A L30+ illusion controller, preferably with PA, Spectral Terror and Phantasm. Slotted, if possible
* Free time. Not that this will take long, but we are not rushing things. It's supposed to be a fun event with eventual snack/loo breaks as needed.
Rundown:
1) Screenshot of the whole family - has to be done.
2) Trancendence Trial
3) Moonfire TF
4) Katie Hannon TF
5) If all goes well and people still have time, we can run some other TF/trial. This will be decided after the main tasks.
Team:
1) @False Fiction
2) @AmazingBruce
3) @Mr Wallace
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)
Reserve:
1)
2)
3)
4) -
Pick your poison
On a more serious note, /Time is more team friendly. It actually seems overpowered at first glance - and it probably is. /Poison is more ST centered.
I'll advise against giving up on your stormy because that combo is simply beasty, especially after IOs. So, why not keep your Plant/Storm and roll an Ill/Time? -
Do you get anything from inviting people? ie: Paragon Points.

Quote:That's distorting my words a little bitI'm the opposite. I love the first couple of months. The game feels busier than usual (and it is). Teaming is so much easier. You see new people getting their feet wet, and old players coming back. It's a good time.
I don't mind seeing the same set with immense popularity.... I'll take that any day over a population drop off after people get 'bored' of the newness of an issue.I just said I dislike being surrounded by many players playing the same sets. I like diversity. That's all. I'm all for populated, busy, chatty servers.
-
Should be good. I'd go with Dark Blast, but I'll admit I have a thing for DB.
-
I've seen a very decent build in a recent thread. You might want to look around.
-
I loathe the first couple months after set proliferations. I find myself teaming with too many combos similar to my own.
I'm one of those odd folks who prefer to play the sets after a while when people get tired of it.
Nevertheless, I don't think anyone mentioned the few combos I had in mind. Which is a good thing I guess. -
I find HOs more beneficial to controllers these days than any other AT. Dark Armour is deffo IO friendly - use and abuse it.
That said, I also have a thing for Dark Armour although I've never had the influence to make it playable at L50 so I ended up deleting them. I'm quite funded now and I will deffo build myself a Dark scrapper and a Dark tank. I just need to figure the primary and secondary, respectively. -
I doubt there's anything a /Cold can solo that /Rad can't. I try to make it simple and think of Ill/Rad as an all-round beast and Ill/Cold as steamrolling beast. It eases my mind.
And while we're at it, what makes those combos beasty is not the secondary. -
The way I see it, most i-Trials should have a bunch of buffers/debuffers anyway. I'd go with raw damage.
-
Quote:I'd say Illusion/ is a bit more relaxed than Earth. Should work just fine. I'll be rolling either Ill/Psn or Mind/Psn. Gravity is also an option, since I've been thinking of rolling one for a while now.I'm thinking about using Poison for my I21 Controller, but I'm not sold on it. I know from playing a Poison MM that it's a fairly active set. I'm planning on having Stone as my primary, but I'm afraid the two of them together will be a situation of having too much to do with not enough time.
-
Don't think anyone mentioned Quicksand has a -def component. Not that it matters much after Sleet, but it's nothing to overlook.
-
Quote:The world needs more sonics.I was being quite facetious.
I really can't decide which would be better, and they both work for the concept I'd be using. Sonic lays out more -resist. Rad could be more clicky. But rad has +damage and +recharge. Which is more offensive? Which will allow me to provide the most benefit to a team?
