Also, someone could have 499 skuls and not be showing the badge, prior to your event.
i.e. they turn off xp, sk to a 50 and carefully get their numbers up to 1 or 2 below the badge requirement.
Very quick to get that last kill then for the badge.
You would need to do events with digital ( on or off ) badges such as exploration, kill specific gm etc.
Exploration can still be cheated on by getting SB's and inertial reduction from a handy non-teamed 50.
Sorry

all you basically need as you say yourself is RI, EF, LR, Heal and PAs. Maximize recharge to cycle AM, LR and PAs as often as possible..
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, PA is already perma so no problem on that front.
[ QUOTE ]
Epics arent overly needed as such except as you say yourself to make things move along a bit faster with your singletarget attack. I wouldnt recommend Psi as more or less all your damage will be Psi which will hurt you against psi resistant GMs.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's actually a good point, I had forgotten about PA being psi damage.
[ QUOTE ]
I'd say either Primal for Powerboost and Energy Blast or Ice for Ice blast and Hibernate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well ... Ice was my first thought.
After thinking more after Damz's post, I'm considering fire though.
The multipliers *are* that much better.
I don't need hibernate because if I have to use hibernate, I'm likely to break the PA cycle which means I get stomped as soon as I drop out.
PB in energy *would* be handy, but I think the damage from fire is more useful.
Main trouble with fire is no defence based power, so I would need to take for example maneuvers to slot up another lotg.
However, from memory consume is pbaoe, which would mean I can slot in a fifth purple set which would be nice.
Hmmm ... tough call!

Soloed Lusca back before IOs and post ED with primal so thinking you should manage with IOs

I'm leaving Lusca till last

The first and maybe most obvious tactic to take down a GM solo safely would be to use hover. Their melee attacks are far superior to their ranged (which arent that special and easy to withstand), so hover JUST out of reach and let phant/PA and yourself blast away with safety.
All it means then is a matter of patience and the occasional heal when he actually fires off a ranged attack (plus the obvious tray full of blues).
I gotta mention fire again for the epics (same reasons for AV fights), plus doesnt -recharge/secondary effects hardly effect GMs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nods, already use hover for that very reason
Had considered fire for the pure damage aspect but had discounted for the zero secondaries.
However, if we can get confirmation of the -recharge effect not applying, then that's definately a way forward.
Thanks Mr Damz

Glad you started this topic since I was about to start one similar.
However, a slight twist, I'm aiming at GM soloing not AV soloing, just to see what I can take down :S
So .. thoughts please;
Currently running psi epic as this was a pvp build. Query is whether to move that to ice or not.
My reasons;
* ice still does the -recharge, a requirement.
* I won't need status resistance as I shouldn't be getting hit whilst running perma PA
* frost breath does significantly more damage than psi-tornado
* frost armour allows me to slot resist ios as well as defence, meaning I don't need two powers from the epic to slot a lotg 7.5 and stat resist IO.
However, on the con side
* range on ice is less, meaning getting closer
* no status resistance ( this scares me, despite the above )
* Just as heavy on endurance.
Hibernate isn't a game breaker as unlikely to be needed ( I'm either dead or alive, nothing in-between )
For those about to say I don't need ranged powers as PA will do all the damage;
Running a test on JIO it took 40 minutes to get him to half health with psi epic. Before I started spamming mental-blast as part of the cycle he was dropping at about half the speed. *I* think that the additional damage from an epic is required to prevent boredom becoming a real problem
So .. any thoughts from anyone who has experience of an ill/rad GM solo build?

You will notice many pvp“rs have left EU servers, and some off uss have moved to US servers where PvP still excists(myself included) and are unleashing pwnage there
And ice/ss tanks are silly OP atm, i got 1 purpled out and they are very lol to play, not much can stop those things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are the yanks *really* as bad at pvp as I've heard rumoured, or is it just a us vs them thing ?
Fahie -
We hit the top 100 12 months ago, and it's taken us this long to get into the low 80's. But we've been playing redside more this year.
So anyway, yes it does change but not by much

What would be very handy is to be able to place items in a base to an x,y,z co-ordinate, instead of just drag and drop.
i.e. a little box that you can type the co-ordinates you want the center of the item to be at are.
The current method is clunky at best for lining things up, and floating magic wouldn't be required any more.
Searched forum for a previous suggestion of this, cannot spot one ( which does surprise me ) :S

I *believe* that
"mort" comes from the latin, where mort means death, dead, or dying.
Mort'al then meaning to have death.
Im'mort'al meaning to preclude the possibility of having death.
So, if you're immortal, strictly speaking you cannot die by any means I guess.
I could be wrong though, languages never whir mi strongist poynt! -

teaming and teaming with friends is one thing, getting off the ferry into P.I. to hear nothing but b-casts or LF Farm Team!, Plz PL ME! from lvl 2's is another.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't see that a huge amount, unless I am playing my fire-kin.
However, I have a couple of ways of dealing with silly team requests.
1 : Ask them what they will bring to the team that will enhance it. If I get a "huh? just PL me!" then they go on ignore. I've had someone respond previously with "Wit, charm and the occasional faceplant" ... they got an invite
2 : Say "you want to team then?". When they say yes I respond "Great, brb, just logging in my lvl 4 scrapper. Meet you in Atlas park ?"

Hmm, interesting question.
Given that I'm one of those people who only reads the arc plots when they remember to ( i.e. about 25 % of the time ) I can't speak from a hugely knowledgeable perspective.
However, a few favourites for me.
Ghostwidow. Bascially for the reasons SS mentioned, plus the fact that she is the only AV that still scares me :S
Great character background and she seems SOOO sinister
Romulus. From a game mechanics point of view he's the most fun AV to take down. His cut scene is funny ( substitute the word 'nictus' with the word 'sparta' for laughs ) and he has an interesting backstory. The AV I actively look forward to fighting with a good team.
Fusionette: Ok, I hate her and I love her. Her aggroing everything on the map AND the three maps closest to you is very annoying, but she just seems to have so much fun whilst doing it. Definately a lively character, faultline has his hands full I think
As for worst, I wouldn't really want to say. The ones I think are worst may have a great story that I've just completely missed.
I try and avoid comparing them with DC/Marvel for the inevitable arguments that ensue
On that note, and belonging in the culture section I suppose, but

I had this problem.
My fix was to hit "reset" on the scales, even if it said there weren't any changes to be made. You may need to move a slider first then hit reset.
WARNING : this will of course, reset your scales
Worked for me ... hope it does for you too.

CoV collectors edition here too.
And yes, only got the cape design as a bonus.
And Ghostwidow keeps falling off her stand

2. Solo a GM. I remember a loooong time ago, Psygon solo'd Lucsa, I think it may have been on her Dark/Dark Defender, but I could be misremembering? Has anyone else done it? Or a different GM? Babbage or Jurassik for instance? Again, does it have to be a tanker?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
2) Doubt that's possible anymore. An illu/rad just might be able to do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Given that I don't pvp anymore ( I13 grr-ness ) I'm considering tweaking my build to turn her into a big-bad-monster solo-er.
Jack & eochai will be first, but if I manage to beat them I will try Lusca :S
Have tried Jack previously, pre-purples, and was just taking waaaay too long to drop so I duo-ed up with a blaster.
Will let you know how it goes when/if I try it

Is there one which doesn't need stamina and can gain it's own "Travel" type power?

Kin/Elec defenders don't really need stamina or a travel power, I might dual build mine and see if it's *actually* viable ( i took SJ in order to get accrobatics )

How about;
An advanced telepad gives you the ability, whilst out in the field, to teleport to any location connected to the advanced telepad *directly* and *without* having to go to the base first.
A "site to site" transport as it were
So, you click your power and up comes a list of zones you can TP to.
Ok, so you would need a long recharge on the clicky power and a long interuptable build up, but then there would at least be extra features added to an "advanced" tp.

Kubuntu and Cedega are fine.
Also had it running on Fedora 8 and 9.
Currently, you need to use the 6.05 engine of Cedega though. The latest version has a bug or two.

Ref trashtalking in pvp btw;
There is a big difference between
"Right .. you were lucky! That's it, I'm gonna hunt you down and stomp you until you bleed"
and
"u n00b! i said no inspz! U haz no skillz rite! i is gonna dronez you all nite now!"
I am often guilty of the first, never guilty of the second.

To be precise, the goal of the changes in I13 was to de-emphasise the first two of those items listed.
The third, assuming that practise brings skill, isn't as huge an issue. Anyone with a genuine interest in PvP (that includes 'casual' PvPers) should not be scared off by being beaten by player skill. Being beaten by a specialised niche build that saps fun (eg getting perma-dommed and being unable to do much of anything until you die) is far more likely to cause a prospective PvP player to not play.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that perma-dom isn't much fun at all on the receiving end.
However, and once again only in my own personal experience, it feels like instead of addressing *specific* issues such as perma-dom, AS, Inferno and other "I-win-against-most" powers, ALL powersets have been hit with the balancing hammer, regardless of whether or not they need it.
Additionally, the thoughts and recommendations brought up on the boards pre I13 seem to have been ignored completely. I cannot claim issue with this personally since it was I13 that actually got me posting on the boards
Balancing all the powersets to bring them all close to each other *may* attract some new pvpers to start with. However, once they get bored of click, mash, click, mash ... they aren't likely to hang around too long. I12 PVP was harsh, but it was varied.
[ QUOTE ]
Perma anything is a design problem - if any power was meant to be perma, it'd be an autopower or toggle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tricky one this. Perma-hasten for example is possible on some builds. Now, is it good that it's available on some builds with enough influence or bad?
In my opinion, it's good as it gives me something to play for.
However, I can see the point that if it was meant to be perma, it would be perma.
Perhaps recharge caps on game-breaking powers such as hasten, domination, rage etc?
Fahie
ps ( before someone shouts, I know inferno isn't a game breaker like perma-dom, but it is another example of a I12 power that could one-shot squishies ) -
[ QUOTE ]
So just for a test, why not put an arena with characters having 10 times their health? It would be more of a AV-feeling battle, high damage but also high HP to counter many aspects.
[/ QUOTE ]
How many builds do you know that can solo an AV?
3? ... 4?
The above will make pvp even more boring than it currently is, especially as insps heal percentage of health and the damage numbers don't add up to counteract that.
Fahie -
It seems to me that the casual players, those that *might* pvp occasionally for fun are put off by
1: Those with certain pvp powersets
2: Those with uber builds
3: Those with lots of practice
Dominating the zones.
I13 was trying to level out the playing field, which imho went horribly wrong.
What *could* have been an answer would have been introducing a level 10-15 pvp zone ( pre BB). At that level, it's very difficult to two-shot, perma-hold, -recharge *anyone* removing a lot of the frustration for new players.
Add in a little reward for participating and lots of people would have "tried" pvp early on and decided if it was right for them or their toon.
Those who enjoyed this mini low-level pvp may then have started wanting to investigate BB, then SC, all the time practising with their toon, and getting better.
I believe that part of the problem is that people jump straight into sc/wb/rv having never pvp'd before, then immediately fall foul of a expert pvpr who faceplants them 10 in a row.
The old adage "learn to walk before superjumping" may help :S

I would be really interested to see what ATs the PVPers who dont like the changes are.
It seems to me that people playing the squishier ATs like the changes as they live a little longer, but the tougher ATs dont as they can no longer one shot things.
[/ QUOTE ]
My main pvp toons are a troller, a blaster and a scrapper.
Most negatively affected .... my troller, by far.
Blaster now sucks too.
Scrapper is so-so, but very boring to play now.
