Personally, I'd prefer an option we could use to switch between displaying the stuff we already own, but without a buy button, and not displaying it. One of the things I dislike about the market in another MMO is not being able to see stuff I already own, because I can't discuss it with my friends who don't have it.
-
Since you're someone who greatly enjoys brutes, I'd recommend you limit your choices to /Inv, /WP and /SD. Brutes get a taunt aura in all of their secondaries, but scrappers get it only in those three. And without a taunt aura, it's a pretty good chance that you'll go nuts when mobs start running away from your AoEs.

Quote:Group Fly is there as a placeholder for Afterburner once I21 hits.I only see one improvement as far as power selection goes... Assuming you are using Group Fly as a mule, drop it and pick up the ST Hold from your PPP and put two basilisk's gaze in it.
Quote:The only alternative I see, if you really feel like you need that extra .5% is to go with Nerve Alpha.
Quote:Also, I wouldn't worry about being at 44.5% ranged defense versus 45% ranged defense. Go ahead and drop the enzymes and just replace them with LoTG Def/End and Def/End/Rech.
Also, keep in mind that Flash Arrow is 7.2% unresistable -ToHit, so that combined with your defense will put you well over the softcap.
Thanks for the suggestions. -
I wanted to try and put together a build for my Fire/TA corr that has defense capped vs Ranged without compromising my power selection. I'm not too fussed about damage procs, and I'm quite satisfied with the global recharge that this build ended up with.
I'd be grateful if you could recommend me any improvements. I'm primarily looking to reach softcap vs Range without the two Enzyme HOs I've put in Weave, but any other improvements are welcome too, following these requirements:
- Must retain defense softcap vs. Range
- Must retain all primary and secondary powers that are picked in this build, except Freeze Arrow and Flash Arrow. It would be great if those two would stay, but it's not critical.
- Must retain Hasten and all 3 Flight powers (Group Fly will be replaced with Afterburner once I21 hits).
- It would be great if Tough and Charged Armor would be retained, but it also won't be a big problem if they have to go.
- Must not have less than 50% global recharge.
- Endurance consumption should stay ok. I'm not looking for sustainability, but I don't wanna pop blues more often than occasionally. I wager that the build achieves that currently.
- Must have Clarion.
- No purples/PvP IOs except damage procs.
- Must retain at least 4 pts of KB protection.
Here's the current build:

Thanks in advance! -
Yup, 3-slotted Power Sink as in Auroxis' build is more than enough to keep your blue bar topped off in all circumstances except when fighting a single target.
-
Quote:What exactly would you need more recharge for? Extra KB protection is only necessary if you're reeeeeally touchy about it. And why can't this build use Energize as a spot heal? You have sacrificed socketed enhancement values, end mod in Lightning Field, End Mod in Power Sink, global accuracy, global recharge, proc damage opportunities, augmented Knock Back protection, and the ability to use Energize as a spot heal rather than an endurance management/regen tool to name a few. These are all sacrifices in exchange for defense to the SM/L vector with no DDR. You would be surprised to find out how much survivability you are sacrificing by not having end mod in Lightning Field and End Mod capped Power Sink augmented by Musculature Radial.
-
That's a slow one because each boss has a hostage you gotta lead out.
Quote:The one that is genuinely slow is the knives hostage mission.
Besides those three, I always skip the malta defector one you mentioned, and sometimes the one with maelstrom. -
For running tips quickly (in order to farm A-merits I presume) it's not the mishes themselves that take the most time, it's getting the tips. For the mishes themselves, it's pretty much irrelevant which character you use since you can do them at -1/x1. For gathering tips, however, you need something with a large AoE that recharges quickly, and you need a zone with a lot of preferably level 20 spawns close to each other, consisting of a lot of mobs. For the AoE, I'd want a 15' radius one, or a long and wide cone (pretty much any of the ranged damage set cones will do, as will Shockwave from claws, for example).
-
I don't know if AV bashing is the only thing you want to do with this scrapper or not, but personally the only secondaries I'd pair Claws with on a scrapper are Invul and WP. I cry every time when I see mobs running away from my Claws/SR, outta the radius of Spin, due to not having a taunt aura.

That's the current build on my SS/ElA. About 2 secs off permahaste, 3-4 secs off perma Energize, FS every 5.5 seconds and Dark Obliteration every 10. He's a true engine of destruction with double-stacked, and sometimes even triple-stacked Rage. And oh, he's capped to S/L.
Oh yeah, incarnated with Spiritual Core Paragon Alpha to allow both the softcap and huge recharge, and Barrier Core Epiphany Destiny for a bit of extra survivability. -
I strongly suggest a brute, or an /Inv scrapper. You can really feel the difference with a taunt aura (brutes, /Inv scrapper) and without it (other scrappers) when Spinning like crazy.
As for the secondary, that depends on if you want to be more tanky or more meatgrind-y. For greater survivability potential, go /Inv or /DA. Other secondaries (ignoring /SD and /SA which you can't pick on a Claws toon) are more geared toward offense IMO.
If you go the /DA route, be sure to stuff a Theft of Essence +end proc into Dark Regeneration as well as a -KB IO somewhere as soon as possible. You don't need any more IOs than those two if that's not your cup of tea, but those two are essential for playing a /DA painlessly. -
Go here:
http://canyouseeme.org/
Enter 80 into the "What port?" field. Click "Check".
If your ISP blocks incoming port 80 connections, and the FAQ or whatever says that you need to have that port open, I'm afraid that you can't play the game using your ISP. -
FE doesn't give a bigger bonus to fire damage than to other damage types anymore.
I prefer Soul Mastery. Two AoEs from Mu are great, but I like to have Gloom and Dark Obliteration instead in most cases. -
Welcome back to the game!
Quote:Backspace does that by default IIRC.1. If someone sends me a tell is there a quick key response to reply, or do I need to type.. /t insert Superhero name everytime.
Quote:2. Is there a bank of some kind? And if not, can we store things in the trade tab without putting them up for sale, or do they get lost if left there? Okay with the ten slots most of my alts have thats not really a fix, but at higher lvl if I have more it might be a useful stop gap.
If you have a SG base, you can also have additional salvage storage there, as well as enhancement and inspiration storage. But that stuff will be available to everyone in the SG with the correct permissions, it is not personal unless it's your personal base.
Quote:3. Do folks tend to slam all their alts into one Supergroup, or is it more based on each hero? This might be subjective to every player, just wondering in general, more than looking for a definate answer.
Unless you have a certain veteran reward, you can get your first movement power at 14, and the prerequisite for it at 6. Capes are unlocked via a mission at 20, just like auras at 30. Note that by doing safeguard/mayhem missions you can get temporary travel powers. Or have ninja/beast run permanently if you buy the appropriate booster packs.
Quote:5. Is there a mail system? If not, how can you transfer items from one of your alts to another. For example a costume piece dropped for my main, which is perfect to one of my secondary alts, is there any simple way of getting it to her?
Quote:6. Regarding Going Rogue, which I am considering getting, do you get to select the alignment from the moment you download it, or do certain things need to be done. For example I have a Villian and a Hero, who probably should be middle ground style characters, if I get going Rogue, is that something they can effectively start as/switch to immediately, or is it mission based? -
Fully slotted, 3 spiderlings will do a total of about 70 DPS. They actually do the most damage out of any none-Lore pet available to crabs. Disruptors (Call Reinforcements) do about 40 while a Blaster (patron pet) does only 17.
Of course, this only holds true when you can keep them alive... I don't have trouble doing pylons with them, but never had much success with AVs. -
Quote:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=263212Would you mind sharing some of those AE mission IDs or pointing me to a thread or another source where I can find them? I really suck at leveling and would really like to get my first 50 :/
Although I really wouldn't recommend you going that route for your first 50. -
If you've been away for many years, then yes, leveling through non-powerlevel tactics is somewhat quicker. The xp curve is a bit smoother, and debt can now be ignored.
If you wish to powerlevel yourself, on the other hand, it can be done within a day by using optimized missions in Mission Architect. Solo, if you're a brute with a damage aura, or by another lvl 50 if you're not. -
SR only has one layer of mitigation, defense, so I'd get something that adds another layer. DM stacks nicely with its -tohit, but I'd go for a primary with KD or stuns such as Stone Melee, Super Strength, War Mace, Dual Blades or Kinetic Melee (it being the weakest contender in the KD/stun department because its KD/stuns are the least reliable of the bunch).
And although Aid Self detracts from your damage dealing, I'd recommend getting it because that's another layer of mitigation, and SR really needs as much as it can get. -
Just a nitpick - slotted with low-level IOs if you want to retain their set bonuses, but if you're gonna six slot and frankenslot (which is what I prefer for exemping builds), use lvl 50 IOs. IOs of all levels scale down equally when exemp'd, and since lvl 50 IOs have the largest bonuses, you get the most bang for your buck.

Try this on for size, softcapped to S/L and 2 seconds off of permahaste. No purples too, so if you wanna invest a couple billion you can do it even better.

Both will work well, and both should be equally tough with an anything-goes-except-purples build. You'll have less endurance trouble with WP, and you'll have more damage with SD.
WP will be much smoother for leveling though. -
Not arguing, I'm genuinely wondering why is everyone recommending radial which gives +33% recharge and some as far as I know useless tertiary bonuses instead of core which gives +45% recharge.
But reading it again, it does seem that only utrawatt made that recommendation... -
ElA has higher base resist numbers than FA. Healing Flames are on a much shorter timer than Energize, but Energize's +regen is nothing to scoff at, and Power Sink is another layer of mitigation by flatlining the mob's endurance together with Electric Fences. Overall, I'd say ElA is somewhat tougher because of that, especially since energy is the third most common damage type in the game.
-
Yup, I did have bosses on. It resulted with a faceplant now and then because of it, but overall leveling speed was higher.
-
Tried it with my fire/fire brute - had Blazing Aura as the only AoE till 8. Leveling was much faster on your map till FSC and Burn, but fuzzykitten's frontload map became about equally quick at that point, but a lot safer since I had my fire resistance at 90%.
Where is that map found in MA? I'm interested in making my own mish with S/L mobs to test some toons.
