  1. so I take it when you cast a leadership power it also effects yourself? Because from reading the manual I assumed it only effected your teammates.

    I'm deffinately interested in getting tactics, but the rest seem kinda useless the way you described it.
  2. I gave it a shot. Here's what I created. Whaddya think?

    [Edit: Removed due to bandwidth considerations. If you want to see it, check it at Emeralde ]
  3. "You will be my greatest creation!"

    The voice was overpowering, permeating. It dominated every thought, every action. He knew that voice. It had been with him since the beginning... since the first of the innumerable gears within him began to turn. His king. The voice was always with him, a comforting, fatherly feeling always accompanied it, always present, yet never seen.

    There was a satisfying >click< as the last piece was added to his form. He could feel his new limbs spring to life as they were locked into place by the sprockets which had been tasked with his construction. Nearby, one of the Prince's lumbered about ponderously, directing the actions of the lesser clockworks. He knew he was designed to better, though... better than even the dukes or princes, and through the shared mind of the clockwork "collective" he could feel a lingering jealousy buried deep underneath the overpowering will of the King.

    Stepping down from his assembly platform, the King's brainchild tested his new body. It was lithe, sleek, and shimmering, not like the rusty-looking automatons that came before, and deep inside he could feel a wellspring of energy, barely kept in check by the intricate circuitry of his body.

    "Now my child... go forth with a squad of sprockets and bring back precious metal that our numbers may increase!"

    No words were required. The will was all there was. So with the creaking of gears and grind of metal a small army moved out towards the surface of paragon city....

  4. Sorry... I tried to catch up on the development on this bind by reading all the pages of this particular thread but.... good god!
    Was it ever resolved to have the original bind modified so that two direction buttons pressed at the same time would function correctly? Or was that topic still under debate?
    If it was actually solved does anyone know the post in which it's listed? Thanks a bunch!

    Health - 5 to 6 slots

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Definitely not.

    Health is absolutely worthless. If you start taking consistent damage as a blaster, you're dead. Blaster health is pretty much an all or nothing proposition. Either you are barely taking damage, or you're getting wtfbbqttfnpwned.

    The regen from health is pathetic in battle and of only marginal benefit for downtime. You'll get plenty health inspirations to handle your downtime.

    The only thing you didn't mention was exactly how to go about adding enhancement slots. Is it better to just six slot your attack powers one by one, or start by 3-slotting one attack power, then start 3-slotting the next, and work your way back around until they're all 6 slotted? Cause that's the problem I'm having planning my character. I don't know if I should slowly slot my attack powers up together, or just focus on one at a time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    In my opinion, it is wise to get your best of frequently used attack powers 6 slotted first.

    For example:

    If you are relying on your AoEs to kill (fireball, firebreath, frost breath, energy torrent, whatever) then get your main AE 6 slotted asap.

    If you are one of the blasters that starts off with 2 single target damage attacks, 6 slot the slower one first because you get more bang for your buck out of those enhancements. One your main attack is 6 slotted you'll notice you can almost always 2 shot mobs.
  7. Now only if we could actually get an official version to this type of movement... it seems almost like it should be put in, considering it would make fly a significant amount more fun, and it would help save endurance... they could add more flying mobs or something too...
  8. I have a question about enhancing powers that I've yet to see anyone answer...

    You went over that I should six slot all attack powers (IE, for my eng/eng: power burst, power blast, sniper blast, power bolt). You also said to five or six slot hasten, possibly two slot build up, and since I'm going with fly, I should four slot fly.

    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Is there a part of this guide that details (by using your AR/DV build of course) What should be hunted at what level and where? Thanks!
  10. I read your inspiration and a little background info in another thread, and I instantly took a liking to Wednesday. I have to ask... are you a fan of the Addams Family? Anyway, I like the screenshots. Long live the cold, professional lady killer.

    you all know about the thing where the binds crash. Like when you hover when moving and fly when standing still thingy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Skybert,

    We've come a long way throughout this post! Check out the latest versions of binds... mine and Ahzurdan's latest break VERY infrequently. With mine, I can play all evening without a break. The only things you have to be careful of now are holding down a key when zoning, and releasing it "in the middle", or holding down a key when typing in the chat window and hitting return before you release it. Learn not to do those two things, or just hit reset if you do (a key currently built into the bind, no need to create a macro). Oh, and also don't activate powers when just starting or stopping movement... fly deliberately. Beside these 3 things, the 'modern' binds are pretty breakproof.

  12. I like your style when it comes to penning the action. It's not an easy thing to do by any means, and you manage to keep the scene flowing. (Ah, reminds me of the days I was a language major in college...) So, yes, very good. Action, humor, and really good descriptors of effects and just the general feeling of a power.
  13. Agreed, Divine has a cool look. Nice background story too! (Don't think I'd want to get on the wrong side of him..)
  14. Very good. I'm keeping an eye out for part 2. I hope it's coming soon!
  15. Cool in general, but I must say that your screen shots of Divine Darkness are really neat. His power effects go well with the outfit, too.
  16. Hi all,

    What's your hero background? I created mine today. I did post this elsewhere but it was greeted with uncessary hostility by a random bloke. *shrug*

    Firstly here's a pic of Weds:

    http://www.visual-waste.co.uk/~silks...drawnWeds1.gif

    Now, some in-game pics:

    http://www.visual-waste.co.uk/~silksounds/coh/Weds1.jpg
    http://www.visual-waste.co.uk/~silksounds/coh/Weds2.jpg

    http://www.visual-waste.co.uk/~silksounds/coh/Weds6.jpg

    And now, her background/info:

    Age: 24
    Height: 5'10"
    Technology Origin
    Assault Rifle / Fire

    Deep, dark and fiercely intelligent.. but too cold for most people to approach. Her professionalism is often mistaken for unfriendliness. Wednesday is not an unfriendly girl, she just treats all people as "neutral". She also tends to be sarcastic. Because no one has ever seen her smile, her colleagues often wonder if she even has a heart.

    What they don't know, is that beneath her cool exterior she does have feelings. But thanks to a painful history she prefers to keep herself closed in, she tends to stay focused on her objectives.

    Wednesday uses the assault rifle with deadly accuracy. It was her keen eye and sharp shooting, her amazing ability to keep her cool in any situation, that granted her the attention of a top ranking general when he was visiting Atlas Park police station. Thanks to general Barnes, Wednesday is now climbing the ranks in a top secret military project, testing new technology enhancements whilst fighting crime.

    On the streets, she only comes close to showing emotion when fighting the freakshow - her eyes turn blacker than black and she shows them even less mercy than other opponents. Known only to her is her ultimate objective: shut down the freaks completely, even killing them if need be. Afterall, they took everything from her. Her Mother, her Father, and the only woman she had ever loved. She won't rest until they are completely destroyed.
  17. lol, thanks for the pointless, immature and random flame. I thought it was on topic, I'll start my own thread instead.

    Jerk.. I mean what the hell?

    And fyi kthxbye comes from the general q2/fps community. I don't expect to see it on an rp forum for a mmorpg game. Why don't you stop with the power trip mate, telling people what to do like you own the place.. heh. Amusing in a way.

    What INSPIRED me to create Weds is simple. I always liked the darker heroines in stories and comics whilst I grew up. I also wanted a professional looking, smart hero. So I created Wednesday. Tragic past, on a mission for revenge. And so on.

    I'm sure you'll find something in that paragraph to stamp on too. Do enjoy yourself!
  18. I like reading threads like these because I like to see the bounds of the game (in it's current form). I don't mind, rather enjoy, that some people can perform some amazing stuff with certain builds.
    That said, out of sheer curiosity (and why I really wouldn't do something similar myself), if it only takes you something like 2 or 3 weeks to hit max level, what will you do then? It's not like this game has been out long enough to have lots to do at L50. The alternative would be to make alts. However, beyond the 2 or 3 builds that can level as fast, you run into slow(er) leveling builds - will you be able to stand the "agony"?

    There is no autoruny.txt file
    (autorunxyz.txt, autorunxz.txt, autorunyz.txt and autorunz.txt)

    In ALL the "run.txt" files it puts the line- "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge"

    And its still not working in game

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ok, my bad on the Y part, I forgot which letter he used for each axis. Anyway, that bind looks correct, to me, except if the binds turn off the prestige power the same way (with only a single call to surge AND sprint) as it'd turn Sprint on when you stop, and surge on when you're moving.

    I better leave this one to Falstaff and Ahzurdan

    Thanks for replying.

    Ok, I tried exactly what you posted and edited the bat file to look like this

    ::Sprint Power [Default = Sprint]
    ::set sprint=%sprint
    ::set sprint=%Super Speed
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Quick
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Rush
    ::set sprint=%Prestige Power Dash
    set sprint=%Prestige Power Surge

    Yet it still writes the line in the txt files like this-
    "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge$$powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Fly$$bind_load_file c:\coh\binds\fly\autoflyxyz.txt"

    Which activates my default Sprint instead of the Prestige Power Surge.
    I still cant figure out whats wrong.

    Thanks for any help

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ok, I'm not an expert on Ahzurad's binds, or Falstaff's Script, but this line:

    "powexec_name Sprint$$powexec_name Prestige Power Surge$$powexec_name Hover$$powexec_name Fly$$bind_load_file c:\coh\binds\fly\autoflyxyz.txt"

    Is just to turn OFF Sprint and the prestige power, and turn on fly or hover. Having Sprint in there too just makes suer it's turned OFF also, just in case it got turned on somehow. Maybe tell us the line in the autoRUNy.txt file? At least that power is getting into your binds now, where before it was being overwritten, so something is improved.
    So it's still not working in-game?

  22. Hmm... sorry for the few days without replies, but the boards (from My Home) haven't show that there were any new posts on this thread... strange.

    Anyway, let me see if I can answer a bunch of questions that haven't been answered already. Thanks to you regulars who have filled in in my stead, and know all the answers anyway

    if i answer default (hit enter) for everything on the basic install program, except for auto-unqueue and the path, which on my machine is I:\CoH\binds, sprint turns on for me but doesnt turn off when i stop moving. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any help is appreciated, i'd love to start using these!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Did The Farmer's answer get this working for you? You need to do the bind_load_file command, then hit CTRL-M (or your Mode Toggle Key) to change into SoD. If things aren't working, try hitting CTRL-R (or your Reset Key).

    Mr E-Man
    [ QUOTE ]

    What would happen if I use your program for a character that does NOT have flight? (To use for the ground SoD only.)

    [/ QUOTE ]
    They should work fine, just don't hit the fly key If you do get into fly mode, it'll be hard to tell, because you won't (obviously, if you don't have the power) be hovering or flying, but sprint will not turn on because it's trying to turn on fly instead. Otherwise everything should work fine. The newest Readme has some info on using these with characters that have other travel powers than Fly.

    [ QUOTE ]

    Will I need to re-run the program on my laptop or can I just copy the bind files to the laptop (of course using the same pathing as on my main computer)?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Either should work, if you put them in the same folder, like you said. If you put them into a different folder, you'll have to re-do the /bind_load_file command, both when you first leave, and again on your return.

    [ QUOTE ]

    Your best bet for this it to choose a different path for each character - as in my case I use c:\cohbinds\ea - the ea sub-directory holds all binds for Energy Arc & I use c:\cohbinds\mre for Mr E-Man - you get the idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Actually, unless you want them configured differently for different characters, then there is no need to have different paths and binds. However, if you want to configure them to use different keys or different options (ie. one that doesn't use unqueue for a sword scrapper), then you should have a different path/binds for each configuration.

    [ QUOTE ]

    I have noticed a quirk. In Normal mode, If I turn on auto-run, I can't stop auto-running with the back key, I have to use the forward key. Back just holds me still while I hold the key down. Actually, that's kind of useful, if I just get used to it.

    However in SoD mode, backwards key does kill auto-run. It would probably be better if they were consistent.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    For my "normal" mode, I just used the commands as originally intended by CoH: your autorun key is simply ++forward and your back key is simply +backward. The whole point of them is to be simple in case there is a situation in which you don't want SoD (bad lag or something), or if SoD gets screwed up. If you're autorunning while in normal mode, you're missing the whole point of my binds

    Lynuk, I think Ahzurdan is correct. Does your connection seem slow otherwise, and does this just happen sometimes? If so, maybe you could change to Normal Mode during those times? Again, like Ahzurdan stated, I don't think there is anything we can do about it otherwise.

    Hey Ahzurdan, glad to see you're still lurking around between WoW sessions

    I'm really sick of all the "what do you think of this build" posts and the same freaking questions showing up 10 times a week. It's really bad. How many times do we have to say what the fastest levelling Blaster is? How many times do we have to talk about Stamina and Hasten? How many times are we gonna have to keep repeating that Fire is the AoE king and Devices roxxors your house?
