A couple of mine;
Adamanteus.
A robot initially created by Crey as a combat and hazardous environment unit made to withstand just about anything. During the Rikti invasion, the secret facility where he was stored was destroyed. He was accidentally activated by a burst of high energy particles from an exploding experiment in the laboratory, and wandered off. His programming was incomplete and he acted rather strangely; talking to fence posts, hiding in the trunks of cars, etc.. After a hero talked him out of fighting fire hydrants he was delivered to D.A.T.A. They reprogrammed him to help with minor riots and crowd control specifically to subdue targets. This worked for a while, but soon his personality started to exert itself. He took extreme delight in subduing people. During the later parts of the Rikti invasion, Adamanteus was used to help with crowd control, but got too close to the fighting at one point. He was simultaneously bathed in radiation from an exposed engine of a Rikti warship and hit by an errant energy blast from a hero. Somehow this combination sparked him to sentience. He went on a rampage, beating everything that came near him. He was subdued and brought to D.A.T.A. again.
Since Adamanteus was considered sentient, he had certain rights. DATA could not keep him against his will. They made a deal; if he fought crime in Paragon City he was free to do as he pleased so long as he tried to keep the collateral damage to a minimum.
So now he joyfully wanders the streets of Paragon City beating the tar out of criminals with his energy fists. All the while resisting the urge to lay waste the citizens and buildings!
DarkHawke
So there I sat in having my coffee and doughnut and this weird guy sits down next to me. He just gave me the creeps. In an eerie voice he tells me that I have a destiny and that I must help him. Huh? Me? Mr. average? I laugh and ignore him thinking he is some kook but I do notice the glowing eyes under his hood. Well with all the supers around he is probably some minor mutant or magician that is just crazy. Well after I blow him off he finally leaves, but he leaves a small octagonal, glass trinket. Only about an inch across it is pretty cool and has a neat hawks head design on it. What the heck I think and I take it with me you know, for good luck.
I throw it in a junk drawer and forget about it for about a week. But then one night I just cant sleep. As I wander out into the kitchen I notice something is wrong. I just feel like I should open that drawer. I do and see the object glowing with swirling darkness around it. I slowly reach out to touch it and hear a noise at my back window. I look back just in time to see a small group of hellions breaking in! For some reason I grab this magical token the strange man had left me and power surges through my body! The Hellions burst in and open fire but it is like they are moving in slow motion. I dodge the bullets and leap toward them. In a matter of moments the dark energy swirling around my hands has dropped all of the thugs!
I dont know what kind of transformation took place, but the boys down town determined it was some kind of mutation and got me to a contact to start my career as a hero. And the rest, as they say is history! -
Here are the background stories and screenshots for some of the characters I've created on the Prime/Freedom server during the beta test.
Ignus : lvl 10 magic blaster - fire blast/fire manipulation
Ignus screenshot 1
Ignus screenshot 2
Ignus origin:
Frank Johnsen started messing around with an ancient tome he found hidden on his grandparents attic. He wanted to use it to summon an imp to harrass and frighten one of the school bullies picking on him. But something went wrong. Instead of summoning an imp he accidentally summoned a fire demon. This demon was to large and powerfull to be contained by the summoning circle Frank had made. The fire demon broke free and flew off. It started burning down most of Franks hometown and it killed almost half the population. Hastily Frank started searching the tome for a spell that could stop the fire demon. He finally found a spell capable of that and started casting it. Upon completion of the spell the demon was bound to Franks body. Now Frank can control the demons firy powers and renamed himself Ignus. But each day it is a struggle for Ignus to keep the demon inside him at bay. Seeing the destruction he had caused Ignus decided to use his powers to help others. He hopes that one day he can make up for the big mistake he made.
Blue Basher : lvl 5 technology tanker : invulnerability/super strength
Blue Basher screenshot 1
Blue Basher screenshot 2
Blue Bashers origin:
Harry Stevens was an employee for Crey Industries. He was selected to test out some of Creys latest powersuits. When he signed up he was unwillingly drugged and Crey whiped his mind and planted some cybernatical implants in his brain. This way Crey wanted to have absolute control over him and make him an emotionless killer. But the techniques Crey used weren't perfect and some of Harry's memories started to surface. This made him go berserk and kill most of the others in this powersuit project. He ran of and went in hiding in the slums. Most of his memories have come back now and Harry hates himself for all the people he killed when under Creys control. He now uses his powersuit to help out everyone who needs help. Unfortunately the suits advanced weapon systems, gatling lasers, mini missiles, plasma sword, are disabled. But the suit still amplifies his strength and protects him from harm. The servomotors of the suit allow him to move faster than normal humans and a small anti-grav device gives the suit flightpower.
Doc Mindbender : lvl 3 mutant controller - mind control/empathy
Doc Mindbender screenshot
Doc Mindbenders origin:
Joseph Simmons was a mutant healer working at the Paragon City Hospital. He used his healing powers to aid and revive the fallen heroes. During the nights he also conducted medical experiments to find new healing agents and medicines. Without proper test subjects he tested his latest discoveries on himself. When he started hearing voices the next day he thought that he had gone insane. Until he realized he was hearing the thoughts of his co-workers. A dna analysis revealed that his homemade medicines had altered his mutant dna and given him mindcontrol as a side effect. He quited his job in the hospital and now he ventures out on the streets to aid other heroes with his healing skills and mindcontrol.
Lt Shellshock : lvl 4 (lvl 6 on pinnacle) natural blaster - assault rifle/gadgets
Lt Shellshock screenshot 1
Lt Shellshock screenshot 2
Lt Shellshocks origin:

Her commander tried to frame her for the dead of the squad and she was court-martialled. Without any direct evidence of her making this wrong decission and with a clear record she was only discharged from the army. On her way home she saw several thug beating up an robbing an old lady. She immediately stopped her hummer and jumped out while grabbing her assault rifle. She shot all the thug and decided to use her battle skills to make Paragon City a saver place. From that day she patrols the streets as Lt Shellshock.
Miss Tachyon : lvl 4 mutant defender - radiation emisson/radiation blast
Miss Tachyon screenshot
Miss Tachyon origin:
Cassandra Dane had a normal childhood. She didn't discover her mutant powers until the last grade of high school. Her science teacher noticed that several science and chemistry experiments seemed to go wrong whenever Cassandra was near. He somehow suspected her to be the cause and revered her to Hero Corps for an dna analysis. Hero Corps found out that Cassandra had mutant powers that could control subatomic particles. Cassandra was sent to a training camp just outside Paragon City to learn to control her powers. This all happened just a few days before the Rikti invasion. When the Rikti arrived Cassandra was brought to an underground shelter and continued her training there. When the Rikti had been driven back she emerged from the shelter only to find out that her family and friends had been killed by the Rikti. She now burns with revenge and hopes to gain more powers and skills so she can kill the Rikti menace.
Siberia Tigress : lvl 6 magic blaster - ice blast/ice manipulation
Siberia Tigress screenshot 1
Siberia Tigress screenshot 2
Siberia Tigress origin:
Ilza Zjendobre was a member of a small nomadic tribe that lived on the siberian tundra. When a large polar bear started to hunt down their herds of reindeers the tribes shaman summoned the tribes totem, a large siberian tiger. Then the shaman magically fused Ilzas body with that of the siberian tiger totem, giving Ilza all of the totems powers to control the ice. With all these powers hunting down the polar bear should be easy for Ilza. But while tracking the polar bear her tigerlike appearance and scent startled the herds and caused a stampede to go through the encampment. Most of the tribesmen, including the shaman, were trampled in the stampede. Without the shaman Ilza could not get her body back and kept fused with the tribes totem. The tribe exciled her for causing so many deaths and Ilza wandered the tundra until she met some foreign scientists. These Crey scientists brought her to Paragon City for some experiments. But Ilza managed to escape and now she uses her icy powers to help others.

This is an alternate character I'm playing on the Guardian server. Actually her name is Atomic Kitten, but that one was already taken. Her origin story is related to that of my main character Sheline. If you haven't read it you can just follow this link. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.
Heroine info :
Real Name: Miranda Witchtail
Hero Name: Atomic Kitty
Gender: Female
Age: 19
D.O.B.: 08/04/1945
Height: 1.75 m
Weight: 60 kg
Origin: Science
Archetype: Defender
Primary Power: Radiation Emission
Secondary Power: Radiation blast
Power Pool: Flying
Appearence:
A young woman of average height and posture with medium long blond hair, yellow catlike eyes, cat ears, a tail, extractable catlike claws at her fingertips and a fine orange fur with black stripes (like a tiger) covering her entire body.
Outfit:
A light blue sleeveless bodysuit with a large radiation sign on the chest. A pair of tall high heeled boots and a black utility belt with with a buckle shaped like a cats head.
Powers:
Atomic Kittys powers are not martial ones like that of her sister Sheline. Instead her powers are the manipulation of atoms and sub-atomic particles. She is capable of creating large amounts of radiation out of nothing and can use this radiaton to harm her enemies or to cure her friends. Her atom controling powers also give her the ability to fly simply by ionizing the atoms in the air below her and giving her body an opposite charge so that the ionized atoms will repel her upwards.
Weaknesses:
Atomic Kitty excels in using radiation to weaken and attack her enemies. But she is physically quite weak and cant take damage well as her sister Sheline. She likes to stay at a distance and using her ranged attacks. If the enemy gets within melee range she will be taken down in one or two blows. Another weakness she has is that her body constantly emits a low level radiation field that is harmfull to living tissue other then her own. Therefore her bodysuit is lined with lead on the inside to block the radiation. This is quite heavy and tends to slow her down.
Origin story :
Not much special, still have to make a consistent story of it.
Miranda Witchtail was born in Patriot City as a normal human right after the end of the second world war. The exact date was 4 August 1945. Her family consisted of her father, her mother and an older sister called Janice. They lived in one of the suburbs on Patriot City on Oakstreet 18. Her father was a police officer with the Patriot City Police Department. He was always ready to help others and risked his live several time to help civilians. When growing up she always looked up to her big sister who was like an example to her, even though they had very little in common. Janice was quite an adventures type willing to try out all new things and sometimes getting in trouble because she acted without thinking of the consequences. Miranda on the other hand was always quite coutious and spend much of her time indoors reading and studying. Her childhood was a rather normal one. She had good grades at school, better than those of her elder sister. But that was not because she was more intelligent than her sister. She just spend more time on her homework while her older sister seemed to neglect her homework and barely past her tests with C+'s. Miranda really excelled at subject like physics, chemistry and biology getting almost nothing else but A grades for those subjects. It was no surprise that she wanted to become a scientist. When she was still in highschool her sister Janice was exposed to energy X and some feline dna strands and transformed into a feline with superpowers. Her sister eventually ended up in Patriots Citys supergroup, the Freedom Force. (See origin story of Sheline here.)
It was just after her sister Sheline had joined the Freedom Force that Miranda was diagnosed with leukeamia. And only her sister Sheline had comperative bone marrow that could be transplanted. But there was a catch. Shelines bone marrow contained traces of feline dna as well as some traces of energy X. The doctors refused at first to transplant such a weird bone marrow. But Mirandas conditioned worsened and the doctors gave in. Miranda went into surgery and got some of her sisters mutated bone marrow transplanted. The operation was a partial success as her leukeamia was eventually cured. But there were also several unwanted side effects. The feline dna and the energy X traces in her sisters bone marrow started to transform her body to a more feline shape as well. And the energy X traces even interacted with a latent mutant gene and activated this dormant gene. This gave Miranda the power to control atoms and sub-atomic particles. Her sister Sheline and the other members of the Freedom Force teached her how to control her powers and eventally she joined with her sister in the Freedom Force, taking the superhero name Atomic Kitty.
When her sister Sheline did not return from her mission against the Timemaster, the Freedom Force started to use all it's available resources to find out what had happened to Sheline. Eventually they found out that Sheline had ended up in the future and that there was only one way to get her back. If she would wear and activate a small temporal distortion device it would send her back to her own time. The trouble was getting it to her. Someone should have to go into stasis and give it to her in the future. Miranda accepted the task to find and return her sister and was placed into a stasis pod. She should awaken in the year 2002 were her sister Sheline had ended up. She awoke from her stasis when the Rikti invasion started and fought with this futures Freedom Force against the Rikti. In this onslaught about all of Patriot City was leveled and nearly the entire Freedom Force was whiped out. During these battles Miranda also lost the two temporal distortian devices that would allow her an Janice to return to their own time, trapping them into this future.
After the Rikti were finally repelled from Patriot City Miranda resumed her quest to find her missing sister Sheline. The trail she followed lead her to Paragon City and a supergroup known as The Xtreme Warriors. Her sister Sheline had teamed up with them but has been missing in action after a small Rikti incursion on april 22th 2004. No one knows what has happened to her. She was not amongst the casualties and neither was she teleported to a hospital. This lead to several wild assumptions. Maybe she was killed and her body vaporized so there was nothing to find or returned to the hospital. Or she might have been captured by the Rikti or another villain group. Another suggestion was that the mysterious Looking Glass Project could have shifted her through a portal into a parallel dimension. One thing is certain. Atomic Kitty is determined to find out what has happened to her sister and will remain in Paragon City. She even asked The Xtreme Warriors if she could join with them and take her sisters place. She hopes that the rest of the team will be just as determined as her in finding her sister Sheline again.

>>This is a little story that I posted on the COH.com community forums a little while ago, but then they wiped the boards. Anyone is free to write the next installment of the story, and since I'll be playing City of Heroes 24/7 I won't be doing too much more. Please feel free to direct the story in whatever way you wish. Here's the story:
THE SKIES OF KING'S ROW
The dark hero ended flight atop a nondescript apartment building near the center of King's Row. Most of the building was abandoned, like many other of the buildings in this part of Paragon City. A crumpled piece of paper, propelled by the gentle wind, skittered across the roof of the structure and lazily drifted off into the sky.
The dark hero had arranged a meeting through one of his contacts. A prestigious man from the City -- the dark hero knew nothing about this man -- was to meet with the dark hero atop this building. The dark hero checked for landmarks above, below, and around him to make sure he was on the correct building. The dark hero was early.
As he waited, the black vigilante surveyed his surroundings. A hero donned in yellow tights soared past about a hundred yards away, while a minor mugging was stopped by a large, armor-clad hero in the streets below. This was the life the dark hero had given up: the life of fighting good. This prestigious man would provide the dark hero with a path to a "better" life. As he stood alone atop the structure, the dark hero had second thoughts.
As an angry debate raged over the two parts of his head the dark hero could not decide whether to follow through with his plan and pursue evil with whoever this prestigous figure was or to go back to the righteous fight against evil that he had turned his back on.
He knew not whether to leave or whether to stay, and as the dark hero's mental battle was fought, the door leading from the floors below creaked open. The man had come.
>> So whoever does the next post basically gets to choose which path the "dark hero" decides to go. Feel free to give the dark hero or the prestigous man a name or whatever at any time. Most of all, have fun! -
Here is some info about my heroine Sheline. Currently I'm playing her on Virtue. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.
Heroine info :
Real Name: Janice Witchtail
Hero Name: Sheline
Gender: Female
Age: 22
D.O.B.: 02/14/1943
Height: 1.85 m
Weight: 55 kg
Origin: Science
Archetype: Scrapper
Primary Power: Martial arts
Secondary Power: Super reflexes
Power Pools: Speed, Leaping
Appearence:
Tall athletic woman with long red hair, yellow catlike eyes, cat ears, a tail, extractable catlike claws at her fingertips and a fine yellow/brownish fur with black spots (like a cheetah) covering her entire body.
Outfit:
A light blue leotard, a pair of light blue boots and a black utility belt with a buckle shaped like a cats head.
Powers:
Sheline's transformation into a feline form improved her speed, agility and reflexes to well beyond normal human range. Combining her martial arts skills with superhuman speed and agility makes her a dangerous melee fighter. Her speed allows her to deliver blows very quickly. Her supreme agility and reflexes make it a lot easier for her to dodge attacks and she is even capable of dodging bullets from simple handguns. However dodging a burst of bullets from an automatic weapon is much harder for her as there are too many projectiles to keep track of. Her superhuman speed allows her to run 100 km/h for several hours. She can even max her speed to 300 km/h this although she can only sustain that speed for several minutes before running out of energy.
Weakness:
Her feline abilities give her enhanced senses. Vision, hearing and smell are well beyond human levels. This also causes some of her weaknesses. Her hearing allows her to hear ultra-high tones above the human hearing range. Longtime exposure to these ultra-high starts affecting her mind and cause her to go into a feral rage where shell attack anyone in sight, even her team members. Her smell has also improved to the point where she can identify people by their scent. Her improved smell can also be a weakness to her as the stench from devices like stink bombs can severely nauseate her. Her fur keeps her warm in cold places. But when she is excremely active in a warm place her body might start to overheat and she will pass out.
Origin story:
Not much special, still have to make a consistent story of it. Like everybody else in the Freedom Force, Sheline got her powers due to exposure to a massive amount of energy X.
Janice Witchtail was born in Patriot City as a normal human during the second world war. Exact date was 14 February 1943. Her family consisted of her father, her mother and a sibling sister. They lived in one of the suburbs on Patriot City on Oakstreet 18. Her father was a police officer with the Patriot City Police Department. He was always ready to help others and risked his live several time to help civilians. He was a rolemodel to Janice and one of the reason why she decided to become a hero after she had gained her powers. Her childhood was a rather normal one. She had good grades at school and her childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. Her dream to become a veterinarian made her to take home and nurse back to health all the wounded animals she found outside. During her teenage years she also took martial arts lessons to learn self-defense and mastered a brown belt in karate. In 1961 she graduated high school with excellent marks and was awarded a scholarship to study veterinary science at the Patriot City University (PCU). She moved to the PCU campus and also took a little job in the Patriot City Zoo. The job in the zoo mostly consisted of cleaning the animal shelters. It was a hard and dirty job but she liked it because she was near all those animals. She also figured that working for the zoo with this job would give her a better chance when asking for a traineeship. The first two years at campus passed rather uneventfully and she made good progress on her study.
That all changed during the spring of 1963. An alien named Mentor traveled to Earth with a shipment energy X. His plan was to use the energy X to give several humans superpowers so they could help him the Domain, an corrupted evil power his once proud and noble race had become. However his spaceship was destroyed by the Domain upon entering Earth orbit. He himself managed to use an escape pod and landed in Patriot City. The energy X canisters scattered across Earth, most of them landing in Patriot City, giving birth to several superheroes and supervillains when normal people were infused by the energy X. Just that afternoon Janice was working in the zoo, cleaning the feline shelters. One of the energy X canister, from the remains of Mentors spaceship, fell into the cheetah shelter she was cleaning. It cracked open and Janice was flooded with the energy X. The high amount of energy X fused some feline dna fragments into Janice's dna, forming the basis of her powers. This new feline dna-strand started to transform her body into a more feline shape. This took only a few days because the large concentration of energy X accelerated the entire process. Her body became taller, slimmer and more athletic, her once green eyes had changed into yellow cat-like eyes, her ears shifted and changed into cat-like ears, she grew a tail, a fine yellow-brownish fur with black spots (like a cheetah) started to cover her entire body and complemented her long red hair, some of her teeth changed into large fangs and she grew extractable cat-like claws at her fingertips. The transformation also enhanced all her senses. She now has night vision and can see much sharper than normal humans. She can also hear sounds to soft to be heard by normal humans and can hear ultra-high tones above the human hearing range. This last can also be a weakness as ultra-high tones start affecting her mind and cause her to go into a feral rage where shell attack anyone in sight, even her team members. Her smell has also improved to the point where she can identify people by their scent. Her improved smell can also be a weakness to her as the stench from devices like stink bombs can severely nauseate her. Her transformation also improved her speed, agility and reflexes to well beyond normal human range. She is capable of running at 100 km/h for several hours and can max this to 300 km/h although she can only sustain that speed for several minutes before running out of energy. Her supreme agility and reflexes make it a lot easier for her to dodge attacks and she is even capable of dodging bullets from single handguns. However dodging a burst of bullets from an automatic weapon is much harder for her as there are to many projectiles to keep track of. She also has some basic knowledge of medicine, due to her veterinarian study, and is capable of treating her own wounds or those of her team members.
This transformation severely disturbed her self confidence. Seeing herself as a freak without a proper place in normal society she fled from the PCU campus. She took hiding in an abandoned warehouse in the slums, sneaking out only at night to steal some food. There she was found by a small patrol of the Freedom Force, Patriots City's hero group, who were investigating a strange and relatively new energy X signature. One of the members of this group, Mentor, persuaded Janice to come with them to their HQ, The Freedom Fortress. After a while at this place Janice learned to accept her new body and appearance as she saw even weirder people over there. Because the other members of the Freedom Force cared for her and accepted her she started to feel at home there. She started thinking about how her father risked his live to help other even without having superpowers. This made that she decided to quit becoming a veterinarian and start using her special powers to help the citizens of Patriot City. So she joined the Freedom Force as a recruit and she choose Sheline, short for She-feline, as her hero name. She started training to learn how to use her powers and even learned some new powers, like how to control her chi energy. As a uniform she was wearing a light blue leotard, a pair of light blue boots and a black utility belt with a buckle shaped as a cats head. As a frequent member of the Freedom Force patrols she rapidly grew in power and experience. When their friend and team member Man-bot was captured by the Timemaster, as part of a plot to destroy the celestial clock, Sheline was the first to volunteer for the dangerous rescue mission. When the Freedom Force finally defeated the Timemaster in an extra dimensional space, Man-bot managed to gain control of the celestial clock. Man-bot used this celestial clock to create a portal back to the Freedom Fortress. Sheline was the last to go through the portal but somehow Man-bots control must have slipped, warping the portal through space and time. Instead of arriving at the Freedom Fortress in Patriot City in 1963 she ended up here in Paragon City during the Rikti invasion in 2002.
Caught of guard, as she was surprised to see this strange world, she was shot by a Rikti soldier and left for dead. A brave and anonymous hero recovered her severely wounded body and brought her to a hospital. Sheline was in a coma for the duration of the Rikti invasion and has only recently recovered. Although having lost much of her powers and strength due to her long coma, she is willing to continue her crime fighting career by entering Paragon City and protecting it from any evildoers.

Name:<unregistered>
alter ego: Louis Cyphere
The origin of <unregistered> is closely linked to the disappearance of the children from the poor neighborhoods in Paragon City in 1933. Although the Dream Doctor was able to rescue the children from being sacrificed by the Circle of Thorns, one child, the 14-year-old Louis Cyphere had fallen into a coma. It appeared that the Circle of Thorns' black magic rituals had ordered a demon to take possession of poor Louis.
After the epic battle with the foul Baron Zoria and his cronies the Dream Doctor attempted to exorcise the demon from Louis body, but it seemed that even his amazing mystical expertise was unable to separate the demon from the boy. Al the good doctor could do was place the boy in suspended animation hoping that one day he could make this miracle happen.
Not until 2002 during the Rikti Invasion when the Midnight Squads HQ, where the suspended body of Louis Cyphere was housed, was destroyed did a demon mysteriously emerge from the HQs rubble. A war corespondent, who was covering the Midnight Squad in action, recorded the demons first words <unregistered>?
As soon as the Rikti continued their advance the demons first action was to bring the female reporter to safety before he joined the Midnight Squad against the Rikti.
The following day one newspaper in Paragon City headlined <unregistered>l (as the reporter had tagged Louis) aided Midnight Squad with driving back the Rikti.
It seemed that during his suspended animation Louis Cyphere somehow had managed to reverse the Circle of Thorns rituals. Now it was Louis who possessed the demons' body. The down side is that he is trapped in this form. -
Mc1 hit the nail on the head. Though the old RP community has annointed Virtue we still do not own the server. We simply went there so it woul dbe easier for us all to find each other. Most of the old RP community has been gaming together on the CoH boards for years. It woul dhave been a shame for us to lose those relationships and history by scattering to the four winds at launch. In the end we are a minority and need to stick together.
If you've joined Virtue looking for RPers it's not as easy to find them here as in other games. because of the limits to the chat syustem you'll probably not going to be able to hear them RPing. They're RPing in thier team chat most likely where you can't hear/see it.
For instance if you run into any of the League Of Titans you probably won't know they're RPing right away. As thier characters are going to be talkign about the same things we as players would have been talking about. -
(OOC: This is continued from the former RP forums. A full backlog of the story is stored on the www.paragoncity.com/ website. Here's the last post).
He laughed again, this time longer and louder than before. He walked faster and turned to face her bowing at the waist. "I am honoured to meet one of the few to have done so. I would have paid good money to see the expression on the Countess' face"
"You left before you caught the look she sent me at the Mayor's reception... that was priceless," she said with a smile. "It's quite true, and circumstantial."
"There are only a handful of people in the world who can follow what Reggie Fairfax was doing, and it can mean a great deal of money to the health care industry. They offered me the world to get me out of my ivory tower..."
"But they had Reggie's work... and I have to make sure it ends up in the right hands."
"I understand your feelings but perhaps you are not aware of how manipulative the Countess can be. But enough business talk for now, it is such a lovely evening after all, not to mention the company."
'I'm not..?' she thought to herself, the laundry list of suspicions and inconsistencies flooding back into her mind so that she almost missed the rest of his sentence as she pushed them back.
"As you like it... thank you," she said, allowing her mind to catch up. "I will warn you that I am hard to keep away from science, though. If you offer me a penny for my thoughts at some abstract point I won't take it, but I will probably answer 'telomeres'."
"And if you do I appologise in advance for the blank expression on my face" he smilled again. That was another thing that made him think, he hadn't smilled this much in a long time.
"Not at all... only don't ask me to explain it. I left the Royal College before the undergraduates could teach me brevity..."
She watched the trail the sun had blazed along the tops of the sparkling waves and very carefully refused to wonder what she was really doing there. The sunglasses weren't all that necessary, so she pushed them back with one hand.
By now they had reached at the top of the island and come to a large rocky outcropping on which there was a wooden gazeebo which was well lit.
"If you will forgive the assumption I had chef bring some food down to the gazeebo in case we came down this far. It's an ideal spot to watch the sun set."
"Assumption or contingency plan?" She asked. "It's lovely, that's a fine idea."
But for his self control he might have blushed but merely nodded and led the way up some steps carved into the rocks and waited for her to enter before him.
The gazeebo was roughly 0 feet across and in the center was a low table on which a variety of chilled foods were waiting along with a bottle of champagne on ice and several non alcoholic drinks.
Despite being open, the gazebo was relatively warm thanks to underfloor heating and Argo waited until Liv was seated in one of the wicker chairs before taking one himself.
She brushed past him and slipped into her seat, all the while admiring the view. "Definitely a contingency plan," she said softly. She looked across at him as he took a seat. "And you are not without your libation to family solidarity. Very nice," she concluded with a teasing smile.
He nodded and smilled.
"It is the choice of a new generation after all!"
"Is it? I'm sorry if I failed to notice..."
Mattheus laughed and gestured towards the drinks. "Would you care for anything?"
"Water, please. It really does make the world go 'round."
Nodding he reached for a bottle of mineral water and poured a generous amount into a tall glass.
There was a hole a little less than an foot wide in the center of the table and at a clap from Argo, a small fire started up and the ambient lights dimmed a little.
"Please, help yourself to the food. I made sure Chef left out anything you might be allergic to."
"Thank you," she said, shooting him an odd glance. That was something she always asked people about when hostessing. She took a long drink of her water.
Mattheus poured himself a drink of pineapple juice and sipped on it slowly, his appetite being replaced by a strange hollow feeling in his stomach. -
Name: Witchboy
Born and bred in the grimy backstreets of London, Jack Carter learned his magical trade from the hidden people who have always lived in the nooks and crannies of London's flip side. A hard life bred a hard man, and even before leaving his teens Jack became well known as an uncompromising but fair source of unofficial justice. His early blooming of talent led to his nickname of Witchboy, one which has stayed with him.
Lately Jack has become aware of an increase in black market magical artefacts. His investigations have led to several bad guys with broken fingers and the information that the artefacts were sourced from an American criminal gang called the Hellions. Jack travelled to Paragon City, rumoured to be the home of the Hellions, where he discovered that they appeared to be a relatively minor street gang. He is convinced that there must be a power behind the gang as yet unrevealed; in the meantime, he has registered with Paragon's Superhero Office to bring his own brand of unrelenting and uncompromising justice to the streets.

wow, very interesting--kinda lost me somewhere in the beginning, however i comprehended most of it. it's a nice story, very detailed. i agree, some paraqgraphs would help getting "unlost" in the whole story. you could try omitting repetitions such as their being in tune to each other...

Name: Scorched Rage
Background: Casey Kruise, or CK as his young friends liked to call him was a normal mutant, if you consider being a mutant normal, and in Paragon City, it's quite acceptable. Casey learned at an early age he could control fire, however, he also learned that his body was not immune to the heat he could create, at least not yet. Every few months, Casey would create a blaze of fire in his hand, and as time passed his skin toughened, and resisted the heat of the flame.
What Casey didn't realize however was the extent of his young maturing power. He could create fire alright, but he couldn't always control it. Think about doing homework and trying to figure out a particularly tough Math question when your hands, face, and torso burst into flames. This was the life of Casey Kruise.
Casey tried to hide his powers from his young classmates and even the girl he loved, Sarah Winters. But he could not hide them forever. Sarah and Casey were getting ready to attend a late night football game, when a group of thugs decided to attack the young couple. Casey was blindsided and fell to the floor, the thugs grabbed Sarah Winters and demanded she give up everything of value. When Casey stood up to fight he caught the eye of his young love, she was in trouble, crying, helpless, and scared. He noticed the number 5 on one of their jacket pockets, and much later found out they were members of the infamous "Fifth Column." Casey could not control his power. What happened next was a tragedy to end all tragedies. His body exploded with a power never seen on this earth. The force of an Atomic Bomb exploded from the young man's body and all who were around were instanlty killed, including his young love.
In the process Casey scarred his own body, which even he thought was invulnerable to flame. The lower half of his face was gone. His body and his mind were scarred. Casey went into hiding for many years. He mourned his friends and classmates, and Sarah Winters. He covered his scarred face with a rag he found down in the cold recesses of the sewers. He knew he could never love again, his scarred appearance would never allow it. There was no longer a Casey Kruise, only a Scorched Rage.
While he hid, down in the depths of the sewers, the young mutant trained his powers, he never wanted to feel out of control again. He was going to hone his powers, and hunt down this fifth column gang. He was going to destroy it from the ground up. Little did he know, he was in for a long hard fought battle that may never be won, but the hero, known as Scorched Rage, would never quit, and never give up. He has a duty to uphold and he'll do it the best way he knows how.
Battle Cry: There is no Justice! Only Scorched Rage! -

After that, Luke and his friends teamed up, forming a super hero group called XXXlalala(i wont say it yet), also, Luke enjoyed when people all over Paragon City started calling him The Midnight Strike, because of his dark looks.

"Uh, maybe they dont visit the forums and dont know Virtue was the annointed RP server? "
Guys, not trying to be rude, and I am also a beta tester, but no matter what your effort to make virtue the RP server, it will only be recognized as such by the RP community. Frankly, it's a minority community. People will join Virtue and have no clue, nor should they care, it's not only uofficial, it's unenforceable. The beta community didn't annoint anything, a collection of beta's and pre-orderers decided a destination to advertize where they were going and would like more RPers to join, and less l33t idiots.
Now I came here to avoid to griefers and morons who also usually avoid rpers. But don't be just as bad as they are, don't get snooty at those who don't rp as much or to the degree you do. I'm not flaming anyone, just pointing out that making a ton of threads announcing that all the rpers want to go to virtue doesn't = you own the server and make the rules. Statements like the one quoted atop my post irk me, more so I bet than non-rpers irk you.
Don't like those who ruin your immersion, simple, don't play with them. I play 99% with my group of guildies that I've played with for quite some time. We mainly keep to ourselves, play pretty fairminded, interact politely to others, but we aren't fanatical rpers. We have every right to play on virtue as the l33t idiots who I hope stay away.
Now I respect the rpers for thier effort to immerse, but please don't impose your viewpoints on others. You don't own Virtue, you don't call the shots there, no one here owns stock in ncsoft or cryptic. Again, I'm not trying to be rude, and written comments w/o inflection can easily be missinterpreted. I hope you take my comments to heart. You may disagree, but my purpose is to give you another perspective. I hope you ALL enjoy your RPing, and I will be happy not to intrude. However, you are merely a portion of a larger server community, and that community does what it please, and no matter how much you post that Virtue or Guardian or whatever server is this or that, it will only have a small overall impact on who goes there, and how the server actually functions. I'm sure the rper community will stick tight together and maximize the enjoyment by doing so.
Things like KSing, while you make rationalizations to justify, is simply a general poor form and bad tactic. You can make excuses, but there are plenty of mobs out there and you don't need to assist people who don't want it. If they do, you'll know the difference, they'll either say so, or you can tell they are getting beat to a pulp and won't mind when it's clear they need help. If you need to RP this, consider that each hero has an ego and wants to do right and seek justice on their own terms, and gain their own fame doing so, or whatever you wish to motivate you to be a hero. Interfering is stealing thier rep, their thunder, thier effort to make a name. If that helps, good, if not, realize that the real life world, it's just something that po's 99% of all mmorpg'ers. Go find your own enemies and kick their butts on your own. Frankly, there are also practical reasons, when you get 'kill 10 XX' missions, it's not the person who does the most damage who gets the kill credit, it's often whomever tags it last. And one shot can be enough to also get the lions share of the xp too.
Not everyone is trying to zoom in levels, but more often than not people are enjoying the challenge and THEY lose immersion when someone pops over and finishes off their enemy that they've worked hard at finishing. OR you are trying to take on a small group, and testing your capabilities. Whatever, show good form and move on. Otherwise, I sure hope that when you are all 20, 30+ you'll still kill each and every single GREY mob you run past, cause if you don't they clearly you aren't the RPers you claim. Now I KNOW that most people don't do this, it isn't game-practical, but if you are going to go the Nth degree for RPing, I think you get my point.
Flame me if you think you need to, /salute if you took my comments constructively. In the end, we all are playing on the same servers and the most important thing is that we all have as much fun as we can, with as much effort to not intrude on others as possible. It's the reason my group came her. NOT to grief, not to rp fanatically, not to get snooty comments from those who do, but rather to avoid what intense rpers and moderates alike try to avoid - the lousy players who live to see others log off miserable. My group is NOT of that ilk, and by the same token I think the various groups of different opinions should keep in mind that there are various groups joining Virtue, and they won't all be of the same mind as you. Infact, they more than likely will overwhelmingly outnumber you in a few weeks time, if not less.
Enjoy!!!! In whatever way makes you most happy. -
Whew, that's a lot of words scrunched together. Paragraphs would be very helpful!
So...Gault wandered into the Sahara. Why did he go there? Did he just throw a dart at a map and ended up there that way? How did he know about these "extinct people", and why did they have this kind of information about how to create a mind link?
Why the green light? And more importantly, why the long delay before they were brought together to form the Triumverate? Speaking of the Triumverate, did all three maintain their conciousness after the merge? Does Gault (I'm assuming Gault is the dominant personality...or is he? Or do they rotate?) have two other voices rattling around in his head constantly? If his friends didn't maintain their conciousness, how does he handle this? After-all, he essentially just ate his friends. That can't be good for your psyche. -
A bit vague, even for a beginning story...has potential though, if you answer a few more specific questions about your character. Where is Yakutia, and how did she wind up an orphan? How did she get these odd wisp-oriented powers?
Hope to see you clear up your character a bit in your next installment, and fulfill the potential of your story! -
hey everyone, just thought id mention, I am a vetern rp like most others on this thread, however I had NO idea that anyone was rping CoH yet or at least not majorly, and I also didn't know it was on Virtue, hehe which I just happend to pick anyway. So either way, hope to see everyone on there, I will now likely be strickly RP as I will hit 10 in about an hour of playing and am not worried about pl from then on, Msg me or ingame email me IC..
