I find nothing annoying about misspells that add character, i mean sure, the guy who uses 1337hero ... or darcwolfe might be a bit funny looking, but stop to think if you just called yourself Dark Striker...instead of Dark Stryker ... in these cases i find the misspelling adds a bit more character

Put him on ignore or walk away. A very simple problem to solve, and a lot easier then you trying to tell someone how they can or can't play.
You're very much on the wrong board here, bub...
[/ QUOTE ]
I never told anyone how they can and/or can't play. I was just giving my opinion on the topic. It is concerning role playing, so I believe that I am on the correct board "bub" (let me guess, you think you are Wolverine?). Thanks for the reply, buh-bye. -
Lobe gazes at the old man with a peculiar look on his face. He then turns back to Rebecca, interupting her opening of the letter, "Ummm, do you have any soap?"

Argh I went to Guardian because I heard it was a big RP server, by the look of this I might go to Virtue.

Well heroes, as promised, here is one of the pictures that our photographer took a few days ago. Man, I hope he gets used to having one arm...

It is my understanding, the overpowering effects of AM, leading to it's nerfdom, was not the indivdual power itself, but the overwhelming success of stacking 2, 3, or more together. Have you ever seen 4+ of these stacked on a group? Nothing short of immortal basically.
Well, the super extended recast time did NOT resolve this issue in the slightest. A serious Super Team, will work their way to a really nasty high-powered battle, slap on the 4 AMs, slaugther villians, then, back off doing lesser mobs until the AMs are ready to go again.
So, all we really accomplished here, was to "slow" down the slaugther of the high end mobs. If the true issue is, how it stacks with multiple AMs, then that's what should be addressed, not the recast timer.
Lessen the stacking effect, make them not stack at all, weaken the individual effects thus lessening the stacked affects...
If someone goes Hasten+AM, so they can keep their team buffed, so be it. I don't believe the true issue, is that you can build yourself, so that you pretty much always have AM running. That doesn't seem to be the root of the problem IMO.
Look hard at what you think is truly the overwhelming success of AM, and, lessen that effect, not abuse the recast timer as an easy quick fix. This goes for all balancing issues. Please do NOT use the recast timer as a miracle cure-all... -
Let me don my flame retardent suit.... Ok. RPing for some is fun and I have no problem with it, but can you keep it among your team or supergroup? I had a guy the other day standing right next to me spamming "Target <name> locked, initiating trans-dimensional transport..." every damn time he teleported a team member over (and he seemed to be porting the entire other 7 members of the team, one by one). Its kewl if you want to think you are an alien cyborg whatever, but spamming stuff in local, broadcast, request, etc. is just down right annoying for everyone else. Thats my 2 cents. Thanks.

Gonna keep this one short, because I had prior engangements to take care of, but tommorow will make up for it, I promise.
-I am spending most of my time in Skyway City these days. I really enjoy the architecture of the place, and I've dried up all my contacts in Steel Canyon, that's right, I've fought so much crime there that my contacts simply have no crime left to report. Add Steel Canyon to the long list of sections of Paragon owned by Mr. Midnight and Black Chapter!
-Speaking of Skyway City, I had just arrived and stopped for a second to look at my cell phone and check my messages, when out of NOWHERE a large group of The Lost came up on me, 2 shots and one sword slash before I even had the chance to pull out my gun and I'm flat on my face. However, I mustered up all my energy and awoke from near defeat. Unfortunatly, my muggers had already taken off, cowards....
-After that ordeal I was walking through The Land of The Lost and I saw a poor hero running from a Troll, so I tried to help him, I tried getting the Troll off his back, and then thr Troll turned on me... I don't know what kind of armor he had on, or something, but I couldn't do a thing to him. Next thing you know, I'm waking up in a teleporter in the hospital, and was the guy waiting there for me with his gratitude? No, not a thank you, no reward, no favor to be returned later, no nothing, he just kept on running. That's the last time I help someone in need. They shouldn't have picked a fight if they couldn't handle it...
-My night ended with taking a mission from one of my contacts in Skyway to combat the lost in Boomtown. However, Boomtown was a very long trip from this contact, and I was tired and beat up as it was, so I grabbed a night in a nearby motel which is where I am typing this now. I'll take out The Lost tommorow, and hopefully get back some of my pride in the process. Well, not every day can be a victory. Until tommorow, faithful followers..... -

Lobe had been bouncing from one hero to the next as the conversation progressed. The mention of orange juice however, broke the intense concentration that was etched on his face as he was trying to absorb what was being said. He wanted to follow Sly into the kitchen to help him find the OJ but he was too big to fit through the doorway. So he settled on exploring the many shiny, fascinating objects laying about the shop instead.
Walking around the room, hunched over to avoid bashing his head against the ceiling, he eventually found himself at the front door. Because he was hunched forward he spotted the letter that had been slid underneath the front door. It had slid partially beneath a display case that was directly to the door's left. After several attempts to pick up the letter with his enormous fingers, Lobe fnally succeeded, and carefully, only bumping into a few items, made his way back to the group and Rebecca Morningstar. "Miss Rebecca? You have mail." He said and handed the letter, now a little crumpled, to her. -
Faultline. Since the quakes, the city was nothing more than a haven for disreputable dealings and cults. It was because of this HyperAeon was sent in to investigate the activities of the mystical Cult of Thorns. Cho Yen was a mystery to Hype, a martial arts instructor by day and informant on mystical doings by night. The young hero never questioned his friends information as Cho was never wrong. When he sent Hype to the city of Faultline to determine if the Cult of Thorns had discovered a way to summon Demon Lords, he knew he was in for serious danger.
Well, well there they are then. Plasmafire said as he hovered above the shattered freeway. He had been patrolling the area and decided to join HyperAeon on this mission when he noticed the determined look on the young hero as he soared unchallenged through the smoke clogged sky. According to the papers, Plasmafire was the hottest new hero to hit the streets of Faultline. Literally. Plasmafire could summon flames at will and use it to blast enemies to cinders or even soar through the air like a comet. Hype could feel the unchecked heat as he hovered a scant few yards from the young hero.
As the two heroes drifted quietly down into the fissures left by the great quake, they noticed a coven of Mages as they completed a ritual of great importance. A blast of greenish fire knocked the duo upwards with its sheer power. When they regained their composure, they looked down into the darkness and beheld a terrible sight, that of a spectral Demon Lord, ghostly in appearance, hovering within a malicious nimbus of dark energies. EXCELLENT! , the creature bellowed to the attendant mages in the summoning circle. NOW OPEN THE PORTAL AND BRING FORTH MY MINIONS!
Hyper had heard enough. Heres the plan then, he began to say when all of a sudden a burst of flames heralded the arrival of Plasmafire on the scene! The hot headed hero had soared down into the middle of the circle of mages itself and shot forth torrents of flames onto the whole gathering. The screams of the robed cultists rose into the fetid air as they fell to the ground or ran into the dark depth of the fissure still aflame. The energies which were to form the portal dissipated with a crashing sound and the Demon Lord was stranded in our reality. INSOLENT DOG! it screamed as it used one of its clawed hands to swat the incendiary hero into the rough hewn walls of the fissure. Plasmafire was knocked helpless by the savage attack and slumped to the ground with his flames diminishing by the second. The Demon Lord moved in slowly for the kill.
A blast of Aeonic energy transfixed the hellish creature between the spines of its winged shoulders tearing a deep rent which oozed a glowing fluid. The blast also served to knock the creature yards away from the prone form of Plasmafire. Ahem, interrupted HyperAeon as he waved a finger at the Demon Lord. No meal would be made of his friend this day. It ends now! This, HyperAeon Commands!, yelled HyperAeon as he hovered above the creature and released wave after wave of energy at the monstrosity. The creature stood its ground as holes were torn in its translucent wings and bones were shattered. When the attacks from the hero finished the creature launched one of its own. LET THE DARKNESS DEVOUR YOU, AS I WILL YOUR FRIEND!, it screeched in primal rage.
A blast of dark energies welled forth and shot from its mouth to splash into HyperAeons chest. The shockwave sent him flying upwards at a phenomenal speed and left him nearly helpless, it was all he could do to continue to hover with his waning energies. Seeing an easy victory, the Demon Lord took flight and raced towards the dazed HyperAeon. Regaining his composure at the last minute as the creatures claws lunged for his throat, the energetic hero did the only thing he could think to do floating nearly a half mile from the depths below. He drew all his remaining energies and began to Hypercharge! This of course left no energy for trivial effects of power such as flight. He fell like a stone. Right through the unsuspecting Demons grasp!
The ground rushed upwards at an alarming rate but Hyper was focused on quickly building his energies. When he was close to the point of no return his whole body flared with Aeonic energy and he rapidly came to a stop inches above his fallen comrade. Ill be right back buddy, Hype growled between clenched teeth. First I have to take out the TRASH! With a thunderous roar HyperAeon launched himself upwards at the descending Demon Lord. Eyes and hands glowing with energies he slammed both fists into the Demons jaws for his signature move, the HYPERPUNCH! The creature flew back and splattered into the fissure walls with a sickening thud. Glowing green ichor smeared the wall for many yards around the impact site. The form of the creature was not readily distinguished from any other form of road kill. Welcome to Earth, HyperAeon sneered. Now go back to hell. His next attack was a massive wave of energy which shattered the already crumbling wall where the Demon had been defeated. The wreckage fell deeper into the chasm and the darkness below. His last bits of energy were barely enough to make a safe landing next to his awakening friend, Plasmafire. After a brief rest he helped the headstrong hero fly back to the city gates. He would report to Cho that the Cult had been thwarted this day
From the depths of the fissure, a faint voice went unheard You will pay for this HYPERAEON! -
Hello Geko,
I noticed today that when I did a mission for Juan Jimenez in Kings Row that I got a temporary power that had flash grenades to help disorient the Skulls. I thought this was Totally cool!!
I wanted to ask, can we see more of this please? Also maybe at some point, could we be able to buy gear like flash grenades with influence?
Thanx, Katye -
Hey everybody! I'm having a blast at this game and I thought I would try my hand at posting my characters origin story. I would appreciate hearing comments/feedback/(constructive) criticism! This is my second MMORPG and my first attempt at posting an origin story! Let me know what you think and if you would like to hear more about the thrilling origin of Nova Girl!
Christina was halfway to her bus stop when the rain started. The clouds rolled in with almost unnatural speed and thick, heavy raindrops began to fall from the sky. Holding her book bag over her head to keep off some of the deluge, Christina ran for Newman Hall Physics Building in order to wait out the downpour.
This late at night, the building was mostly deserted, with the exception of a few custodial staff and some instructors working late. Christina entered the deserted lobby and took a seat on an uncomfortable looking plastic bench.
They must work pretty hard to make these benches this uncomfortable, she muttered to herself. Sighing, she began to rummage through her bag to make sure nothing important got too wet. Finding everything reasonably dry, she turned her attention back to the weather outside.
The rain was still coming down hard and fast, and showed no signs of letting up. A storm this violent was unusual in Paragon City, which was usually blessed with excellent weather. Leaving her bag and coat on the bench, Christina approached the glassed in atrium of the lobby. Hey, maybe the weather got so bad because some super-hero is out there summoning it! That must be it! Maybe its Weather Witch or the Fog! An avid fan of Paragon Citys many super-heroes, Christina pressed her face to the glass and peered eagerly out into the storm, but no super-hero was to be seen.
Finally, Christina gave up on seeing one of her many super-heroic idols and began to pace around the lobby. Checking her watch she realized that if the rain didnt stop soon she would have to brave the storm or miss the 11:15 bus to Galaxy City and have to wait for the 11:45. Im not going out in that mess! I guess Ill have to wait it out.
Against one wall were several vending machines and Christina realized she was starting to get hungry. I was gonna grab a salad when I got home, but I guess a candy bar cant hurt that much. Approaching the machine, Christina sighed, Here goes my diet! Again! I have absolutely NO willpower! At this rate, Im never gonna lose those 20 pounds! Digging into her pocket, she put in her change and selected a pack of chocolate chip cookies, which were definitely not an approved part of her diet. With a whir, the machine started to dispense the cookies, but the pack got caught on the edge and wouldnt fall.
ARRGGHH!! she shouted and began to knock on the glass to try and dislodge the cookies. I HATE these machines!! That was the last of my cash too!! She tried to move the machine, hoping to dislodge the cookies, but it was too heavy. Finally giving up, she rested her head on the glass front of the machine and sighed, What else can go wrong!
Quentin Power was hard at work in his lab in the Newman Building. It didnt matter to him that his work was illegal and would cost him his tenure if any Paragon City University officials found out what he was up to. All that mattered was results.
Quentin Power had been the youngest Physics professor in Paragon City Universitys history and had come within a hairsbreadth of winning a Nobel Prize at the age of 25. Unfortunately that had been 25 years ago, and now he was just one of many world- renowned instructors on campus. Instead of spending his time doing research, he wasted his time teaching students who would never have a fraction of the talent he did and watching people with half of his intelligence get promoted over him time and again.
So, when Crey Industries had approached him, he had only been too eager to jump at the chance to show them his skills. Apparently, one of their science teams had stumbled across an unidentified alien device and they wanted him to use the Universitys Quantum Microscope to examine it. The device was clearly Rikti in origin and had most likely been lost during their recent attempted invasion, which had done so much damage to Paragon City and the world. Unfortunately for Crey Industries, Paragon City possessed the only QM in the world and they were reluctant to let a corporation with a reputation like Crey Industries borrow it. Professor Power had no such compunctions however.
Stasis field holding at 70%, Power noted into his pocket recorder. I am increasing the power output on the QM to 60 % and reducing the stasis field to 60% to see if I can get a more accurate reading on the proton/anti-proton interactivity. The professor made some adjustments on the QM control board and examined the results. My preliminary analysis is that the device is some form of energy storage device. I am unable to get accurate readings on the type of energy, even with the QM. I can only surmise that this is a previously unknown wavelength of energy. Power was barely able to keep the excitement from his voice. A discovery of this magnitude would assure him a place in the history books for generations to come as well as numerous lucrative grants and contracts!
Far above Paragon City, the mysterious, mystical weather-controlling super-hero named The Fog was engaged in heavy combat with a Rikti War Drone. So far, the ferocious storm she had summoned was keeping the Drone at bay, but she wasnt having any luck in harming the device itself. Like highly skilled dancers, the two enemies gracefully weaved and dodged through the storm. Ive got to finish this thing, before it finishes me! The Fog thought and summoned the lightning to her and went on the offensive. The Rikti Drone reeled at the onslaught, but continued firing. A wild bolt almost struck The Fog, but she dodged the blast. However, her concentration slipped just the slightest bit .
Christina was peering out of the lobby windows again when the bolt struck. A bright flash of light, followed immediately by a deafening thunderclap knocked her to the floor. The air smelled of ozone and static. Jeepers! That one mustve been close! she said, although she couldnt hear herself speak through the ringing in her ears. Suddenly, the lights flickered once, then again and went out.
In his lab in the basement, professor Power didnt hear or see the lightning strike, but he could certainly see the results. Power indicators and status bars began to light up all over the QM. NO! Power levels dropping! Stasis field collapsing! The device is going to .
A roiling, chaotic ball of alien energy erupted from the device and engulfed the lab, the professor and a sizable portion of the building, including Christina. Expanding beyond the confines of the building, the force of the explosion shattered windows for several blocks and set off car and store alarms even farther away ..

D'oh! Apologies, I got them mixed up in my head. -
I hate to re-post something, but I wrote this for a thread on effective grouping, and it actually would have worked better here, I think.
Something esecially interesting, I thought, is that I tend to use Heal Other as my main heal, and Healing Aura as my supplemental - although that only works if one or two team members are successful at containing aggro for the most part. Anyway, here goes - my personal play tactics as an Empath (note I wrote this before getting Fortitude, and I don't have Clear Mind yet, so my tactics are still evolving.)
First, I want to stress that not all defenders are healers! Im an empathy/electric defender, and my personal purpose in a group is to keep you alive, which means that when youre in any real danger, Im doing nothing but healing. But not all defenders are so focused on support! There are several defender lines that contain great damage and crowd control powers, but arent very effective as a main healer. Before assuming youre covered on heals, be sure to ask what that defenders specialty is before assuming.
Healers Fighting in Battle?
Dont assume that if Im fighting occasionally, Im not focused on healing. As long as my endurance is full and no one in the group is in any real danger, then I can throw off an electric blast every 10 seconds or so and still stay at full endurance, ready to handle a sudden turn of the tide.
If no ones in danger of dying (say, were fighting blues), then my secondary purpose is to help defeat the enemies a little faster to reduce my groups endurance use over time, reducing downtime. (We shouldnt be ending fights with you at zero endurance and me at full, since we still have to wait for your endurance anyway.) However, even while attacking I always assume there could be a boss ambush around the corner, and keep enough endurance on reserve to handle it.
As a healer, I swear by the assist feature! Not only does it keep me on the same target as the melee fighters, ensuring that they keep the aggro and not me (since they do more damage than I do), but ideally those melee guys are the ones needing heals, and by assisting them, Ive already got them targeted. I dont generally assist controllers unless theyre not doing crowd control, since I could end up blasting a target theyve just put to sleep.
Having Max HP in Fights
Group members do not always need to be kept at maximum hit points in an extended fight! Healer endurance is extremely important, and keeping you topped off is very expensive. If youre only missing 60 hit points and my smallest heal is 95 hit points, then healing you before youre at least 95 hit points down is overkill, and wastes endurance. Also remember that heals have a recharge time, so healing you when you dont absolutely need it still renders me unable to respond right away should someone else get really hurt.
Priority and Healing Order
Im always watching the groups health, and I can always see whos getting the aggro. Thats my absolute priority not so much whos the most hurt? but whos the most hurt and currently getting aggro? If one guy on my team is down to 1/10 of his health but hes hovering far away and out of danger, then hes a lower healing priority than my scrapper with ¾ health who just drew the aggro of three red Aberrant Reactors. Its like triage as long as youre not under the effects of a DOT and have a decent amount of health and I can tell you arent drawing any aggro, youre fine for the time being while I take care of the people in the most immediate danger. (Of course, this means that if a tanker is holding aggro, then his HP will be the only ones dropping, and he gets my full attention, making my job a lot easier.)
Next step in priority is hit points people with fewer hit points will be healed a bit more quickly since they can be one-shot killed. A tanker whos at ¼ HP and being taken down slowly can probably still survive a few more seconds than the blaster who just went down to ¼ health in one hit. That is, UNLESS youre extremely low level (as in, just tagging along for the higher experience) and it comes down to a choice between saving you or the aforementioned higher level scrapper or tanker, for example. Sorry, its not a level bias thing but he can keep us alive if I save him, while you unfortunately wouldnt be able to.
Which Heal To Use?
I have three heal powers, and they each have their place. Heal Other is my most used heal. Its a single-target heal, heals for a good amount, and isnt too expensive in endurance. I have two healing, two endurance reduction, and two recharge reduction enhancements in it, so I can cast it pretty quickly and frequently, using the order priorities listed above.
Next is Healing Aura. Its a group heal, only works if youre near me, heals for less than Heal Other, and costs more in endurance. I use it if two or more people are hurt and more than one person has aggro, or if the whole group just got hit by an area effect, or if Im seriously hurt, since thats the only one that heals me too. I dont like to spend that kind of endurance if it's only me that's hurt, though, so I generally dont use it for that reason unless Im at half health or lower, or I have aggro. I'll also use that one is if someone is dying FAST and Heal Other/Absorb Pain is still recharging.
My emergency heal is Absorb Pain. I love this spell - its certainly saved many scrappers from certain death in the early moments of an ambush. Its a big heal, healing for about twice the amount of Heal Other, and it costs me almost no endurance at all. However, it takes about 1/5 of my health, and Im unable to be healed for a short time afterwards. Im not affected by group heals, other peoples heals, inspirations, nothing. I can only use this when I am not getting any aggro, and for a while after casting it, I need to stay well out of harms way. In other words, if I just glowed red and your HP jumped 230+, watch out for me for a few seconds, please.
Finally -
Unless they ask you to, or you have reason to believe your healer is distracted, please dont ask for heals in fights. The healer is putting their fate in your hands, so put your fate in theirs. If youre at 2/3 health and arent currently being healed, theres a reason. It might be a certain heal recharging, or another member of your group is currently drawing more aggro (thus going down faster) than you are.
I love the role of healing, and Im enjoying reading other peoples views on being a healer I look forward to any comments or suggestions on mine. -
Wow...I am just...wow...your balls must be huge and metallic...wow.

Miss Tigress................Justice Server
Natrual Scrapper, 15 Level -
GothHealer..
She was a doctor and researcher by day and by night she lived the goth lifestyle.. A great contrast in the light of day she worked to heal the sick and at night she examined the
dead. As she slipped every night into the back alleys of Paragon city it seemed like every corner of the city was a playground for the dead and the dying.. It was with this study she began her work on the serum of anashka.. Using ancient texts and the miracles of modern science she began fusing magic to create an instant heal and then he came. It seemed like he had an insight to her work that was almost otherworldly.
He told her where to find the texts and how to align the chemicals. Using the stars as a guide she put together the serum that would be the catalyst for a great weapon. Her client told her that he was guided by the ancient ones to find her.. It was her destiny to help others.. They said that in the darkness you will find a great light and it would be his job to make sure that she always fought in the light and if the darkness had ever taken control it would show upon her visage and to take care not to force her hand in those days of darkness.
She didn't quite understand how this would ever happen for
she always kept herself in balance until the day he showed
her the great weapon.. It was a gauntlet with mystical symbols etched all over it There were languages from our world yet underneath those texts were an even deeper language something she had never seen before, it was all very mysterious and disturbing. Her client took her hand and said please put your arm in the gauntlet it will accept you and you only.. I warn you now from this day on your life will change if you are willing to accept this task the ancients will guide you forever and bless you with a unique gift. She looked into her clients glowing eyes and placed the gauntlet on her wrist it began to glow and vibrate.. As she gazed at the beautiful writing a small opening appeared in the gauntlet. She took a small vial from her lab coat pocket. The serum glowed and as she moved the vial toward the gauntlet the liquid and the gauntlet began to glow together as if they were breathing together. As she poured the serum into the hole her whole body began to shine like the sun and her white lab coat disappeared and a costume appeared, her first reaction to what she saw was oh my god you would think the ancients could come up with something a little less revealing. It was white and glowed slightly.. The client removed his cloaked head and he indeed was not from our planet he told her not to fear her power and as she proceeded from here her power would grow stronger as the planets and stars form in certain patterns different powers would be revealed to her. Then they found her the Vahzilok had come for the Gauntlet and the serum. The client ripped off his over coat and it turned out he was a hero himself he fought them back and then the gauntlet began to glow brightly I could hear voices in my head telling me how to operate the gauntlet to help him I aimed and healed but there were too many of them he looked back at me and said run I will find you again the gauntlet will help and protect you remember what I said about your visage if you slip to the dark your essence will be come as dark as shadow. She never saw him again and if he made it out alive it would have been a miracle she continues looking for him as she fights the endless evil in paragon city.
