Rook made his character a long, long time ago (around October 2001 I believe), so I wouldn't worry about "stealing" the IRA opperative idea.
But "bugger" (and "bugger me") is good. And I think "mate" is okay (though might be more Australian than Irish. *shrugs*)

I've read too many heros' backstories in whcih there heroes has a mysterious past, unknown even to themselves. It's getting on my nerves. I wish some people would actually write themselves a good, coherent story. I mean, who remembers that they have superpowers and to fight crime when they can scarcely remember what they had for breakfast?

The Devouring Earth? hmm let me see.. I can sum that up in 2 words..

Level 15! Finally! No more running around like a moron just to get in good with the head office of Paragon City! Well, at least not for right now.
-So, with my new found security clearance, I trained up with Valkrye in Steel Canyon, dropped a new enhancement in my sniper rifle, and earned myself a title. So I will now be referred to as "The Remarkable Mr. Midnight"
-Spent most of the day taking on a brutal mission fighing mebers of The Lost who decided to take up kidnapping as a hobby, but with the help of a few very good defenders (Exodus, and Purple One, a member of The Tokyo Knights and a friend of mine) and Ann Archy blasting away from the back, we managed to take them down, the importance of a good team simply can not be underestimated.
Well, unfortunatly, that's about it, no other intresting goings on during the day, I'm afraid, just mindless crime fighting, then an actual worthwhile mission. Hopefully there will be more to report tommorow as I plan on relaxing a little bit and observing some of my fellow heroes, if for nothing else than a good laugh. Until tommorow, faithful readers... -
Section-8 arrives to the building adjacent to Crey Industries Upper management living quarters. Parks his car on the top floor of the garage & proceeds to lock & load up. Having an assortment of weapons from small arms to rocket propelled grenades. Section-8 hears a motorcycle coming in the distance & grins. The bike parks next to his car & a short red headed oriental female in all black leather dismounts. Sansya is her name She is on the same vendetta to bring Crey Industries down, for the murder of her father. Section-8 became good friends with her father, providing security for him during field experiments. As well testing the new technology & weapons he created. Her father was once Crey Industries top scientist, till he refused to experiment on the fallen hero cadavers after the Rikiti invasion.
Sansya came to Section-8 after the death of her father, over 2 years ago. This only adding fuel to the fire, as Section-8s rage grows for the demise of Crey Industries. Since then, Section-8 has taken her in & trained her.
Now the two have teamed up together, to enlarge the body count & to hasten their revenge!
Section-8 asks Sansya: Did you bring them?
Sansya open ups her backpack & throws Section-8 a utility belt. This utility belt can make the person having it on, able to jump great distances. By the use of Rikiti technology, it makes a low gravity bubble around the subject. Lasting only a few seconds. As section-8 dons the belt, Sansya pulls out a 2nd belt. Section-8 asks Sansya Your coming?Sansya replies, If you dont mind? Section-8 smiles I wouldnt have it any other way.

I already have a binding to switch between hover and fly. Now I am trying to figure out how to bind a key to shutdown hover and fly (whichever is on at the time) and activate sprint. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance! -
Hello all. New guy here. Definately wanting some RP. Though you'll have to see me in game or tell me, because I turned off broadcast and auction. Names in game are Dr. Circuit and Fiery Spark. So far anyway.

A low rumble penetrated the room. Another, much more insistent, disturbed the air about the shop. Eyes strayed to the origin of the noise and found Lobe.
Grimacing and holding his stomache, Lobe informed the assemblage, "Ooohh! I am hungry. Lobe need to eat. But I have no money and I can't fit through the doorway!" His grimace dissapeared, replaced by anxiety. -
Help for a noob bind user,
Is there a way to get your bind.txt files to load automatically without using the /bind_load_file command?
I've searched but can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks!

Cool story! What is your take on the Devouring Earth? Do you see them as your allies or as enemies? Overall, I like your origin, Brother_Earth !

Nova Girl--Science/Tanker 15 on Virtue! -
Spawned from a time of when magic and might ruled the world, Mother Nature was once a presence felt by man through all living things around us. As the years have passed and as man's need for technology has increased, more and more of Mother Nature's domain has been destroyed and its resources pilfered to make way for cities and roads for man's convenience. As more structures are built, more and more of the planets resources and wildlife are being destroyed. With each precious resource gone, so goes the once strong life source of Mother Nature who has grown weaker and weaker by the decade. Her time is almost at an end.
As if almost laughing in mother natures face, man celebrates it latest feat of so called civilization, Paragon City. A city once gleaming and glorious on the outside. Built upon the endless counts of toxic waste, this city has been an emanating source for evil and unnatural forces. Paragon City has attempted to counter this evil by deploying heroes to defend its boundaries, but to no avail. It seems that as evil is defeated; twice fold evil is spawned in its place. This evil spreads like the plague and destroys every living thing it comes into contact with. A sadness looms over Mother Nature as it comes to pass that man has created his own doom and without help this world shall perish. With the last of her once great energy, Mother Nature searches her soul for the wisdom to do what must be done. Mother nature reaches across the plains, across the oceans, across the mountains to a far distant land unknown to man and unharmed from his destruction. There stands a unique thing of beauty, the last of his kind, almost as old as the ages, the last of the ancient redwood.
This redwood feels the sadness seeping from Mother Nature and understands that his time has come. With all her last energy, Mother Nature calls upon the sky to rain upon this great tree and bestow upon it the last of her great powers. The great Redwood arches his branches towards sky as a sign of acceptance of this great honor. As the rain falls down, the sky darkens, thunder roars and lighting crashes. The rain has stopped, the clouds have cleared and the sun is shining a beam on the ground where the great redwood used to be. Now in its place is a form more common to the shape of man, but nothing like man has ever seen. Brother Earth! The defender of the planet.
Bound with the powers of Earth Control and Storm Summoning, this great force has been release to set the balance against the battle of evil in paragon city. As mother nature fades in the earth that she once protected and kept strong, she whispers through the winds her last words of light for earths new defender, Go forth and bring balance to the world, bring light where there is darkness, bring goodness where there is evil and Nay shall you dare rest till this worlds troubles has been set to peace, I bid thee with the life in my last breath, Brother Earth, Save the world. As the winds die down, Brother Earth reaches out with his soul to feel the earth, nothing. She is gone. He arches back and roars with a might that is heard for miles. With anger fueled in his veins, Brother earth begins his journey to paragon city. Evil beware.

OOC: Hi all new member of Black Chapter, just going to give you my Origin then begin to update from time to time.
Exodus was an agent in Lucifer's rebellion against the powers of God. During "Tabris" or the 6th Holy War, Lucifer and his army destroyed the gates of Heaven and conquered much of its landscape. However with the help of the Archangels and the Seraph, Lucifer and all those that served him were banished into Hell.
Upon trial, those that served under Lucifer but we're once high ranked angels were allowed to argue their case. Exodus refused God's invitation and was banished as well. Wife of Exodus, Thessalonica, was witness to this and as an Archangel herself she felt that Exodus' need to rebel was just... Israfel however (Exodus' brother), was not so willing to agree with Thessalonica and refused to aid his brother's defense.
After 500 years in Hell, Exodus became Lucifer's right hand. The Devil could not function without the help of Exodus, from decision making to the construction of the "Satan", a dark and brooding temple of rest for Lucifer. As time went on, a creature known as Lilith was cast down into the depths of Hell only to entangle Lucifer in a web of lust and damnation. He took her as his bride and with that changes were made to Hell. Exodus and the other fallen angels were no longer close to Lucifer. In order to speak with the Demon Lord, they would have to go through her. Exodus however ignored the rule and would speak to Lucifer at anytime he wished.
As time went on, Lilith grew tired of Exodus and with her own unholy minions; she had him banished to Purgatory or Earth. After battling Lilith's spawns, Exodus was left on Earth torn and blooded by war. His fleshed was burned by the light, his body was beaten by the darkness - He was no longer a beautiful angel... now only a shell... He quickly realized that he would have to hide his pain and anger inside himself, and designed a suit of armor that hide his face from the normal mortals of Earth. For years he murdered the souls of the living for sport and conquered much of Earth through mortal men. Exodus led the Nazi order into Paragon city and paid the ultimate price... For it was at that time that Thessalonica's energy and presence lead the heroes of Paragon to defeat the Nazi invasion.
Exodus was crushed by the one he loved most, and through this he learned that his life was truly over. Thessalonica however wanted nothing more than to see Exodus become the once Holy Angel he had been. By Trial of "Metatron", a trial used to allow angels to regain their wings, Exodus promised to Thessalonica that he would once again ascend to the Heavens if she would aid him in transforming from a twisted and cruel beast into his previous form. After rebuilding much of Paragon the Rikti invasion was the first sign that Exodus would defy Lucifer's evil and stand up for himself and Paragon City - however, he did this for himself not for others. Year after year he tried to become more of a kind hearted angel, but truth be told, he was never one. Exodus agreed to join Black Chapter in hopes that he would indeed find those that understood him and would help him regain his wings through aiding Paragon. At the same time, Exodus was overjoyed to know that Black Chapter also disliked the "Heroic" overtones and embraced anger, darkness, and cynical aspects of life.
"I will only help mortals for myself... If I see no gain in it, then I will not aid them. They're quite weak and I see no reason to save the weak, why not allow them to save themselves?"

As someone who wrote for an Irish character on the old boards since late 2001, I would say Sly has good advice there Hedayo. The "me" instead of "my" is one of the best. Maybe throw in "boyo" instead of boy, man, ect, and of course "lass" ("lassie" is more Scottish).
My character is more a mix of Irish and British, so not the best to look for, but if you look in the old thread that Rook and I did that I am reposting here (Rook vs Thevshi: Ghosts of the Past), you will find Rook had some good lines for his character in more "true" Irish (and he happened to be a former IRA opperative as well)
Good luck with developing your character, might see you on Virtue sometime soon.

I'm not sure if they are stored on the server but they are stored for individual characters and you'd have to bind_load for each character.
I'm not sure how to restore the defaults but one quick way could be to create a new character and do a /bind_save and then go to the character you wish to restore and do a /bind_load. -
Alice in Chains its 'Over Now'

Yeah, we pay our debt sometime

Or perhaps Joydrops 'Do You Believe'

Is there a way to save/load macros? I made some and then did bind_save and it didn't save. If I were to put them into a keybinds file and then do /bind_load, would that load my macros? (i doubt it) or would I have to retype them all with each new character?
By the way, toggling commands doesn't always require multiple keybind text files. Observe the following:
/macro 1 "powexec_name Gash$$bind z powexec_tray 2 9"
/macro 2 "powexec_name Chop$$bind z powexec_tray 1 9"
/bind z "powexec_tray 1 9"
Press z and execute Gash. Press it again and execute Chop. Press it a third time and execute another Gash. etc. This is assuming that you put these macros in tray 9 slots 1 and 2.
This isn't as versatile as using the text files because you'll need to redo your macros if you change their positions on the trays, or change the trays they are on, plus you'll need to edit them if you change the key you wish to use to toggle. However, this is an alternative. -
Thevshi:
As Bernadette began to regain consciousness, she realized that her head hurt. That puzzled her some, as a simple fall shouldnt hurt her any and the rest of her didnt feel like she had been beaten while unconscious. Her entire body felt tired, she was still exhausted from pushing her powers so much. Well, at least ye ain' dead lass, yet.
She was laying on something very soft, probably a couch, and her hands were bound with some form of cuffs. Probably designed to dampen powers, she thought. As she opened her eyes, she saw an African American man standing over her in a well-tailored suit. She turned her head slightly to see Rook sitting in a chair beside a large desk.
Bernadette looked back up at the man beside her. Ye all tryin ta figure out what all ye are going ta do ta me before ya kill me? She sat up somewhat, not liking the feeling of helplessness that was so alien to her. The last time she had felt truly helpless was the day her mother had died. Bernadette fixed her eyes on Rook, an expression of hatred evident on her face.
Rook:
"Ye betta calm down ye bloody bogey (snot) before I come over there and beat yer [censored]...", said Rook as he shot a dirty look back at her.
"Don't dodder(waste time) then, ye did such a good job back at the pub ye gurrier (hooligan)!", yelled the young girl with a look of hate in her face and sarcasm in her voice.
"Keep up yer ructions (loud arguing) and I'll place a sound fist through yer.., said Rook as he was cutoff by Renegade standing up between the two.
"Alright, everyone just calm down.", said Renegade with his hands up in the air ready to block either of them from attacking one another in his office.
Rook slumped back into his chair, giving grim looks at the young girl, and receiving them right back.
Darminiam:
Renegade had noticed the look of hatred in her eyes as she looked at Rook. And she's Irish as well! Her accent is a little different but there are some things that you can't hide. If she has the ability to take on Rook, then this was somebody to be careful of. A teenage girl could not have done this.
Several thoughts went through Renegade's head. Her clothing betrayed her innocent looking face. This girl came looking for a fight. The way Rook was beaten and the fact that he knew Rook was one of the best raw talent fighters he knew, meant that the girl had training. What Renegade was trying to figure out what was what group would teach assassins at an early age. Well, I can't assume anything. This is going to be interesting.
Renegade looked at the girl and said, "First of all, I don't think you know where you are, or who I am. I just wanted to say that we are not here to kill you. Those manacles on your hand are there to protect us and you. Obviously you are angry for some reason at Rook. And I, rather we, would like to get to the bottom of this situation as soon as possible."
He looked over at Rook. And with a smile said, "Your going to have to forgive my friend here. Rook is just a little uhm, . . . testy for your sudden appearance." He crouched to be at eye level with the girl. "We don't even know who you are. I don't even know your name? Could we at least start there?" He looked at the girl and waited for a response.
Thevshi:
Bernadette regarded Renegade as he spoke to her, her anger evident, but she really felt no particular malice against him. Other than the fact that he was on Rooks side in all of this. As she looked into his eyes, she could see his sincerity. Well, well see ow much e really knows about ol Rook in a few, she thought.
She sighed slightly, things had really not turned out the way she had planned, but maybe that was the problem, she really hadnt planned too much, just acted. She looked at Renegade, slightly annoyed that he was taking things so lightly. Me name is Bernadette OConnell, but I go by the name o Thevshi. I am the field commander of C.A.S.T and I 'ave a strong feelin that I am in Team1s eadquarters. She glared over at Rook, I am surprised ye brought me ere, ye willin ta let your murderous past come ta light?
Bernadette again locked her gaze on Rook, her jaw set in determination, waiting for his response, which she was sure would be explosive.
Rook:
I am surprised ye brought me ere, ye willin ta let your murderous past come ta light?, said the young girl who now identified herself as "Thevshi".
As if Rook wasn't mad enough, this young girl now had to just throw fuel on the fire. Every muscle tensed in Rook's body as he heard the words. "Murderous past." At first, Rook tried to gain composure, yet it was all for naught. This little girl, who seemingly knew of Rook's past, was sitting there, in powercuffs, blatantly using one of the most harsh words in Rook's vocabulary. Rook began to breathe in and out quickly, like a bull ready to strike a matador.
Suddenly, Rook lost it. Eyes glaring with bright green energy and fists crackling with the same energy, Rook lifted his hands above his head and smashed them down upon Renegade's desk, shattering it into many wooden pieces.
Rook charged up to Thevshi, pushing Renegade out of the way, and grabbed her by the hair with a firm grip. With his other hand he pointed right at Thevshi's face, with the radioactive energy enswirling his fist.
"Who in the bloody hell do ye think ye are!?!", Rook bellowed aloud. "I've plenty much had enoof of ye..", he said as he tightened his grip on her hair, causing Thevshi to cringe in pain. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't pop yer head straight oof!!!"
"Like...all the bloody....children ye've killed?", said Thevshi as she struggled through Rook's extremely tight grip.
Rook still held his grip tight, glaring at Thevshi with his bright green, energy filled eyes. Slowly though, the energy dissipated and Rook softened his grip. Somehow, in the way she said it, Rook felt a sharp pain in his stomach.
She's right...all I am is a killer...an unloved, worthless, disgusting...killer., thought Rook to himself as he let go of Thevshi.
Rook stared at her for what seemed like an eternity, each exchanging silent stares, enough to communicate in itself.
Rook slowly fell back into his chair, with his head in his hand, in deep contemplation.
Renegade didn't know what to make of it. His imported Italian desk was in ruins, Rook nearly ripped the young girls' head off and now suddenly Rook seemed all silent.
Gathering his confidence, he spoke aloud. "You know that's coming out of your paycheck, right?" He hoped for the smallest smirk or laugh, but caught a blank glance.
Rook only faced the large windows of Renegade's office, staring at the falling snow in the dead night. Renegade could have sworn that he saw his eyes tear up.
Renegade kept Rook in the corner of his eye as he turned back to Thevshi, ready to fire off a bunch of much needed questions.
Darminiam:
Renegade was thankful that he didn't have to subdue Rook. He had also never seen Rook just turn like that. Anger was always something that he managed to take control of. This was definitely a change.
But there were things about Rook's past that he never talked about. He figured that Rook's past was much like his, on the wrong side of the law. Renegade never talked about his past before he joined the military. And that was one of the reasons that he and Rook had gotten along so well. But now, it seems that Rook's past had caught up with him. The accusation was too much. It couldn't possibly be true. That would be too much to handle.
He walked over to his shattered desk, grabbed his chair and rolled it over to where Thevshi was sitting. He stopped, sat down and looked at her.
This girl, almost a woman was a member of CAST. If memory serves correctly, her team is made up of young people. I remember fighting their leader, what was his name . . . Syphon. Well it actually wasn't him he fought. Her team was getting a lot of press in the news lately and if our files are correct, they have strong ties with the Power Corp.
He looked out of the building towards the direction of the Powers Corp. It's faint outline was barely visible. This girl was connected. That much is for sure He let a moment or two past before he asked his next question.
"Are you alright? He didn't hurt you too much did he?"
Thevshi stayed quiet.
"Well, there are things, memories in the past that may be difficult for us. The past is usually the one thing that is always ours to keep. No matter what happens. Obviously, there is something in Rook's past that has affected you in someway. The only way that I can help you is if I find out what occurred in your past that intertwined with his."
He looked intently in Bernadette's eyes. "I want to know everything that has happened to you. The only way we can get to the bottom of this, is if we learn why you hate Rook so much." He looked at Rook and said, "No matter how damaging this information is." -
Thanks for the info geko. I'm always pleased to see how the devs are paying attention to the players, and giving feedback on their view on things.
And for all of the whiners out there and reflexive [censored] about nerfs (and most of it is just reflexive I'm sure; I know I've felt the urge myself occasionally), IMO the majority of the players do really appreciate that you are all working hard to supply all of us with a fun experience. So far, I've had only a few minor quibbles, and I have gotten an awful lot of funtime out of this game.
Keep up the good work and know that it is appreciated. -
Good idea, maybe should have it ontop of a building somewhere.
I'd suggest on top of a building in Atlas Park near the Train Station. That way we would be away from the non-RPers yet close to the train station. We should be separated from the non-RPers just because it would be easy for us to find eachother. Atlas Park would be good because a lot of people are there, and low lvls would be able to join in just as long as they can get ontop of the building. -
Very nice (though you might want to change the 'C' to 'c' in the link -- had to make it lower-case to DL).
-
Great little utility - thanks! Can't wait to try this out.

Hello everybody,
my secondary is a Scrapper and the way I play him I auto/follow/ my current target in order to keep in melee range. Sometimes when it get's tough I would like to evacuate, therefore I would like to shut off "follow" and start "autorun" instead. The optimum would be to just use the same key for "autorun"--that means: if follow is On turn it off, else do nothing and toggle autorun either way. I've tried a couple of different possibilities but to no avail !=(
Any help is very much appretiated! Thanks in advance,
regards, Urbs -
