Quote:My friend Spectral Terror disagrees with you.Misdirection doesn't set up containment or keep enemies in one place for AoEs!
I've not seen one combination it doesn't work with. My Illusion/FF is a beast and this is with no debuffs at all. -

Quote:This would fix a lot. A four star review might as well be a one the way this system works. Forcing that binary choice would help. It still wouldn't be a panacea though. Still to much dreck to filter through. Still crappy rewards, especially for Incarnates.a well made GUI would solve quite a few of MA's most glaring faults.
one simple change they could make that would IMHO improve things greatly is removing the star system and imposing a simple option to "like" an arc, like on Facebook.
If you like it, you get a vote. If you don't, you just move on to the next one. Goodbye, ratings griefing.
This was suggested and ignored in Beta, but is still an excellent idea. -
Quote:I understand, but pulling Trapdoor out of the room also makes the fight far too much of an AI circumvent. Think about it. If Trapdoor were a real person, he would not run from the source of his healing.So...
1) Kill them, negating them and Beat Trapdoor = Ok
2) Manage to pull Trapdoor out, negating them and Beat Trapdoor = OMFG hAx epxloiters!!
See where I'm coming from?
Personally, I just pointed at him and my bots made him very, very laserfied
But thats not the point. I have the slotting and playstyle to pull that off. Others with otehr ATs may not. So, why penalise them?
I don't see any AT as being penalized. This encounter isn't particularly difficult. You might need to prepare if you don't have very high DPS. But I've managed it with squishies with no problem. So have others. I have not teamed to do any of this arc for any of my characters. People need to step it up a notch because Apex and Tin Mage and whatever else Positron has planned for us is coming right behind it so you might as well get ready. -
Pulling him into the hallway was far too easy. That's a good change. This is a simple script. I'm glad that people will have to do it as intended.
-
Much more fun. For the first week or so, people starting doing the "kill all" thing, which was a bit annoying, but now people seem to have settled into the "kill on the way to objectives" which is probably how these things were designed to be done and are very fun as a result.

We have access to 1/2 of 1 slot of a currently planned 10 slot system. A progressive system where one could imagine significantly higher costs for the post Alpha boosts. I see no reason for concern.
People who play TFs over and over and over will advance very quickly. I play TFs often and I have three characters with Incarnate boosts. No hundreds of shards here. -
AE is just too much of a pain in the butt for a player and an author. As you said, once you get to four stars (easy with the way people rate), your arc might as well be dead.
As a player, there's plenty of dev created content in the game with better rewards.
AE, in my opinion, was a waste of developer time. -
Quote:Well so far so good, but this actually worked!Well, one thing you could try is go into the Catalyst control center and enable manual fan control under the overdrive section. Set the fan to 100% (noisy) and see if the game crashes.
Maybe CoH isn't intensive enough to trigger higher fan speeds. idk, your issues have just been
Short of a full outright graphics driver sweep to remove any traces of 10.10 or 10.11 I don't get it.
No crashes during an Apex. I'll try turning the fan up next time I play. Maybe this is the solution.

10.6 Drivers crashed out twice, so they're not looking like the solution.
Here's the last error if anyone can decipher:

Going back to 10.9 drivers. -
Quote:I agree. People are having the same or similar problems across a pretty wide range of processors and graphics cards. At this point, I really hope someone at Paragon is looking into this.Okay, said this in another thread. People using both ATI and nVidia drivers are reporting greater-than-usual crash frequency since i19.
It's POSSIBLE it's a driver issue, but the platform-agnostic nature of the problem leads me to believe there's something crufty in the game itself that requires a bit of tweaking. -
I never let Windows update my graphics. Learned that lesson a while ago. In the meanwhile, the 10.9s don't work for me. Nor running in fullscreen mode. I also disabled all non-essential startup programs and services. Still had problems. I don't believe it's heat or the processor either. I can run games that are significantly more intensive than COH with no problem. In addition, I can get crashes on minimum settings (which I wouldn't use long term they look terrible). This is so frustrating.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions folks. -
Quote:No need. Any character can muster the needed DPS to solo the EBs without temp powers.I have to disagree on the Mender's arc. You need to be able to switch the EBs to bosses if you choose so. This would make it easier to solo with low damage low hit point toons such as defenders. Yes using tactics is first and foremost, but all the tactics in the world don't mean a thing if you can't dish out or take damage and the "get a team" argument doesn't always work due to RL and such. Not only do character skills vary, but so do player skills; just allow the difficulty settings to apply to the arc, that's not unreasonable.

Tried 10.9 still getting crashes. I don't understand this. I can play other games for hours with nary a problem. CoH has decided that it doesn't want to work with me.
-
Quote:Thanks to you and Santa!! I'll try those drivers right away.D_R, Fitzsimmons and I had the same issues with 10.10 and 10.11 drivers.
Try uninstalling and going with 10.9
Pretty nice rig you got there EG.
I assume you got a 5870 video card right?
Edit: 10.6 is stable also.
I went with a 5850 card. Since I mostly play MMORPGs I couldn't see what my extra $100 was buying me. -
bump, can anyone help a lizard with ethical problems?
-
I agree with this. Hell the market could pay me 250 for the commons for all I care. I just want to off-load it, but feel bad about destroying salvage. But I need my space for recipes and enhancers.

My Lady Loot is a fickle and mercurial mistress. She spread her favors in ways only she understands. We must trust in her judgment. I too, one of her priests had doubts.
My BS/Regen seemed to be forsaken by my lady. My first ITF post-19 I received one shard for the whole TF. My spiritual common was not an easy task. In addition, rolling two Hero merits netted me little of interest. Despondent, I recalled some of the sage advice given above. That sometimes my lady scorns you, but trust in her and she'll do you right.
This weekend another ITF netted me ten shards and my last two Hero merit rolls earned me THREE specific recipes (Obliterations) that I sought PLUS a LoTG and a Numina +Regen/+Recovery. I was all set to simply purchase one of the Obliterations, but I kept my faith and was rewarded. So can it be with you. -
This sounds like a good idea to me. The pure win that is Scorpion Shield is going to tempt my defender (temporarily) to the dark side, but I would prefer keeping her blue.
-
Of course it isn't. It's quite reasonable feedback.
For at least a couple of months the low level game is pretty much dead to me and I suspect others as well. If Issue 20 brings more of the endgame goodness, then the low level game might not be as active as it once was. However the alting game is strong here so I doubt it will be difficult to do lowbie stuff forever.Quote:I like to new system, and eagerly await more!
I see a disturbing trend happening since the launch of i19. Now I know that a lot of this is simply because our high end characters have a new goal to shoot for, which is awesome.
But I have noticed that the lower level players/newbies are having a difficult time starting tf's at their level. I am not immune to this either. I have found myself looking at the various chat channels I belong with; ignoring the request to do a manti, or posi simply to get the high end content for the incarnate shards.
I feel this is creating some alienation between the older community and the younger one and believe to help stop this, it would be better to at least let the common shard drops happen for those that have completed the Alpha arc at the same drop rate they are now at.
Now I would not say to go as far as granting the uncommon shards to be dropped as an reward for completion; as those should remain for high end rewards.
This way the younger group should have an easier time to get the lower end tf's going and all of 45+'s still at least get to work towards our Alpha goals. -

Quote:Interesting. I'll go back and test this if I can. My Fire/Shield who can stand there with him for hours wasn't able to beat out his regen.Nope, not true. As I said earlier, did it with a SO fire/stone granite brute, running what can't even be considered an attack chain as there was more gaps in it than in swiss cheese and I had to use AoEs while ST attacks were recharging. How fast do you think I moved in Granite + Rooted, without teleport, on a room with height variation? Answer : I just stood still and traded blows with the guy until he fell.
I think the regen boost his clones give him isn't permanent ; at some times I could barely break even or he would even regen back some, at other times he would barely regen and his life was dropping fast.
