Quote:No.
Is knockback underrated?
ST and TAoE Knockback is fun and situationally effective. PBAoE is garbage and by the devs own admission used to curb the AoE potential of those saddled with it, like Peacebringers. -
Quote:All you're saying is that people would act within the published rules. There is nothing problematic about doing that. If the speed limit is 50, there is no problem with going 49.9. If the rule makers really meant for the speed limit to be 45, then they should have said so.Some claim they just want a simple list of things they're not allowed to do. I guarantee that if such a list was made, with 100 things on it, people would go and find #101 within minutes of it being posted. "Don't *#%$-ing do it" may be broad and non-specific, but it suffices for people not looking to poke holes in it. Alas, those people are 90% of this problem.
So the devs should say what they feel is an exploitive rate of reward. Be conservative. Even if standard teams can do hit that target, that's fine. Because people will be on notice. So if the devs believe that a solo player should not be able to cap tickets or earn ten levels in a MA mission, then they need to say so. Otherwise they have little reason to complain when people seek rewards in ways that appear to be valid on their face. -
Agreed. For example, for Kinetics, I might remove Siphon Speed and Inertial Reduction give Kinetic Shield and Power Shield there instead.
-
Something that the devs and the farm haters will have to realize is that many, many, many standard maps set to +0x8 will cap tickets and provide a perfectly acceptable Powerleveling experience.
It's not rezzing or ambushes that give experience. It's critters. All you need is a lot of conveniently place critters around. Doesn't matter if there is a story attached or not. -
Darnit Bill will you stop saying things I agree with?

In this game, being a melee based AT requires significant defense and mez protection because melee damage and mezzes are so prevalent.
If I were designing such an AT it would:
Be named: Guardian
Inherent: Steel Will - The Guardian is resolute in protecting their allies. As the number of allies in the Guardian's party increases, the Guardian gains protection from control effects and additional personal regeneration.
Would give 2 MAG protection to all control effects and 50% regen buff per player on team including the Guardian.
Health: As Scrappers
Melee Damage Mod: As Stalker
Ranged Damage Mod: As Defender
Buffing/Debuffing mobs (both personal and other): As Defender -
For the last month, every time I start a Task Force I add the following line to my recruiting tells: - Stalkers needed and appreciated - people who play on Justice will verify that I do this. In over 20 TFs I have not had ONE stalker join my teams. Despite literally begging for one.
I think the playerbase has given up on the AT. -

Quote:I was thinking 200% crits for just that reason.I'm not exactly sure it fixes a lot, but it does have the advantage of focusing any damage increase benefit into larger visible numbers. Psychologically, that sort of buff will look even better than it is to most people.
For example, if I say "increase crit damage to 150%" that's going to look *huge*. Its not. Its equivalent to about a three percent increase in damage across the board. But its occasional burst damage will increase dramatically.
Well, Titan Weapons makes Broadsword (and other sets) into a bad joke. This buff is needed more than ever. -
Quote:Fast Healing. Chance to proc every ten seconds forever.Wow.
Nevermind.
Just found this thread here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ight=RttC+proc
It procs for your enemies if you slot it in RttC. Meaning that your enemies get the +HP/+End.
Ridiculous. -
Click heals are underrated I've found. Many folks prefer sets where they can worry about fighting and not spend too much time on their defense. Regen is not such a set out of the box. But it can become so.
My SS/Regen Brute for example has 40% Sm, Le defense. And 2800 HP most of the time with some overlap at 3200. Add to that 32% Sm, Le resists and 14% resists to all.
I do not feel 'weak'.
I didn't feel weak before I had the build in place. Regen isn't for everyone. As I said, it takes management, but you always have a button to push to get yourself out of trouble. That's what it gives you that sets like Willpower and SR, and even my beloved Shield do not. Ways to turn the tide when things go south.
My Fire/Shield is a beast and in general can survive most anything. What I find interesting is the things she can't my BS/Regen handles with ease. -

Quote:While I hate this change, I do understand it.What does that "massive influx" of AMs get you? Razzle Dazzles is what. Yes I know BotZ and stealth IOs are in that range and they are very desirable at that level but the junk:good ratio is pretty high for that level.
Step 1: Create a farming Brute (Claws/Elec is wonderful)
Step 2: Grind AE till level SEVENTEEN! This takes about an hour at most if you do it solo. If you have help, I imagine it could be done in minutes.
Step 3: Run first SSA arc twice; buy Miracle +recovery; email to yourself; go back to Step 1

Quote:You misunderstand. Not your fault, of course, robots are little more than animated marionettes. You are incapable of fault. You are a lifeless thing. An object. You do not even qualify to call yourself a lifeform. A tiny gnat is of a higher order than you.
You are like unto the fictional Pinocchio, wishing for some magic to bring you life. -
Quote:That's easy, increased Fury generation from the attacks is all you need for Brutes. For tankers you could create a state where Slash's Bruising is increased.I know we are in the scrapper forum, but I think if anything is going to be modified in Broadsword it has to be a mechanic that can translate over to all AT's with broadsword. Clearly some ideas can't be export from on to another without modifications. So, why not something along the lines of the following.
For scrappers and stalkers: Why not have broadsword provide a tempory stacking critical strike buff. The base for all scrapper crits are 5% for minions and 10% for lts. and bosses (Right? Might be 5% for minion/lt. 10% for boss+). Why not do something that for every attack that broad sword makes that does not crit the critical strike chance increases by x%. When a critical strike is landed the counter clears. (I think this would translate into larger orange numbers a reasonable amount of the time)
For brutes, I'm kind of stumped on. I was thinking something tied into fury generation, perhaps an increased fury generation rate, or something as simple as a stacking damage buff that continues to build until a certain duration passes and then it resets. -
Quote:My point exactly. Give them a broad goal like "Fix Broadsword," and you have plausible deniability. At the same time you get the credit for fighting the good fight when they actually do something. My definition of "win" is a little more specific than yours is. Also, I tend to ask for things that can go horribly wrong if the parameters aren't very carefully adhered to, so I tend to be much more specific. Even when I'm specific and I explain why veering off is a bad idea, sometimes a variant of a suggestion shows up that deals more harm than good, which makes me even more cautious than most.
Give them something specific like, "Construct this new form of avoidance based protection called elusivity. Elusivity would fix PvE by...yadda....yadda." Castle proceeds to steal the idea for PvP and use it in the update that is generally considered to have destroyed PvP. Arcanaville at fault! -
-
Quote:That's what you get for pushing specific solutions. Keep your goals broad and the specifics cagey, and you will always win!I'd be more open to negotiation on a negative Elusivity debuff (which would affect everyone proportionately the same) but the devs seem reluctant to employ that feature. I think they want to compartmentalize Elusivity for PvP, which is ironic given its primary intended purpose was to solve PvE issues.

Great idea!

You are welcome to your opinion. But I could post three times that many comments directed at me for having the temerity to argue a different view.
-
The only concern I would have with that is that assuming the set kept its -defense and accuracy bonus they would always be working against that effect.
