Amazon's new browser is decent, but I can't stay logged into the forums here. -
Quote:It would be about the same amount of work as the Fire Embrace change. Basically all powers that have KB now would have to look for the flag. It could work, Castle already verified to me that something very similar could work. But the devs don't want to do that for a variety of reasons. The really amusing thing is that all this furor and disagreement is really a moot point - I am fairly sure Null the Gull cannot do what the OP suggest. Think about it - all the things that Null currently turns off are buffs that affect the character, and its fairly simple to set flags on the character to ignore certain buffs (or parts of buffs). In order to disable KB in powers you would have to modify every single power with KB in it to look for a flag on the character and enable/disable KB based on that flag - kinda like the way stalker attacks all look for the hidden flag. If the powers had been designed that way from the start, it might have been possible, but modifying them after the fact is a HUGE amount of work and is certainly not worth the dev effort, regardless of what side of the argument you are on.

Quote:The devs made it so that killing lots of minions quickly was the most productive use of players time. It did not need to be so and shouldn't be so. Superheroes have a multitude of means to accomplish their goals, as we used to here.Ahh... and just to do a little comment:
How sad that everything on this game boils down on pinning mobs around the tanker and unleashing AoEs.
Guess people lost the feeling of WOOOMP.
But several nerfs, to phase, stealth, personal force field, and others to ensure that you can't finish a mission without opening yourself to attack means that killing is the highest order activity.
Making it so that the best way to get purple inventions is to murder thousands of minions instead of AVs, creates even more incentives to efficiently leveraging AoEs.
Knockback would have problems even if the above wasn't true. But this just makes it worse. -

Quote:Are you sure about that? Look at the number of people automatically requesting pets and your own self speculating about a Mastermind-based pet set. In a supposed joke thread.
These are the same forums that have seen nerdrage over costume parts and temp powers, after all....and even if it is a joke thread, some people are gonna go 'hey yeah, a Pug pet would be awesome!' So whether I missed the point or not, it still just opened the door for wishlists...you tell me if that's a joke or not.
Way to strawman me there, bub.
S.
FYI the thread is about 90% for laughs, but I probably would buy a Pug if there was one. Was kinda shocked when someone posted that picture from WoW. Didn't think a mainstream game would actually do it. -

When the game went F2P, the NCSoft was well within its rights to set ANY conditions for free access it wished. My premium account has 8 slots and I'm darn happy about that. Saying that we paid for 8 slots when we bought CoH, is mangling the language and I'm not sure the baloney is coming from the devs' way.

Quote:Most of the time, I really don't care. I don't bother to chase individual targets. You knock 'em they're yours, have fun. But let me just share a few anecdotes. After almost 6 years of playing this game, I still don't understand why melee players hate when targets get knocked back by other teammates.
You are on the same team. Does it really matter who does the defeating? Let the ranged characters take care of the foes out of your range. That's what they're there for. Just move on to the next one.
My main is an energy blaster, and I also have a PB. Knockback is great. I team with them all the time, and ne'er a complaint about it.
I echo the comments that allowing individuals to turn off KB would do nothing for teams, unless you managed to find an entire team where everyone had it turned off. That's a step in the wrong direction, back to the days of "R U Healorz?" If you solo exclusively and can't handle your own KB, perhaps that powerset isn't for you.
My DM/EA Brute moves into the middle of a spawn and hits Soul Drain. No buff icons come up because they just got knocked out of range. That's just plain annoying.
My Invul/Stone Tank is plugging along with 30%+ defense feeling all warm and fuzzy when suddenly I start taking a lot more damage because mobs have been knocked out of the range of Invincibility.
My Fire/Shield Scrapper teleports into a spawn greatly harming ten of them with Shield Charge, with Fire Sword Circle and Fireball to clean up anything that has the gall to still be alive. I get that tingly feeling that Scrapperlock causes. I have run well ahead of the Energy Blaster and Storm Defender. That denies them an additional off-tank, but hey they got Knockback! -
Quote:Not sure how simple that is. I'm not aware of any other modifiers to buff/debuff duration. I get your point. I'm just mystified that folks are willing to put this much energy into something that most people are going to ignore either way.I'd prefer the 4 pc bonus to do multiple things INCLUDING a +heal bonus.
Even something as simple as +X% healing and improves the duration of all buffs and debuffs by X% would be acceptable.
If they change it, it's going to be something small and generally useless. It's pretty useless now. About 8 points in Healing Aura, 13 in Heal Other. So I guess if folks want to stack an additional +7-9% accuracy (or whatever the change it to), I guess that's cool. -
I would prefer to have the healing bonus for the characters that can use it.
-
Quote:OK so if they change it to the boring and useless 7-9% accuracy that the other sets have, would that make everyone happy? Because, they aren't going to give it much more of a benefit than that. And then everyone can feel that the bonus is useless. The point people are trying to make is that if it's going to be a bonus on an Archetype specific set, it should actually WORK for ALL possible combinations of that archetype.
It doesn't matter if most Defenders have a heal. It only matters that not all of them do.
Of my three defenders, my main Cold/Ice doesn't benefit at all. My Kin and Time benefit to varying degrees, but I'm not even looking at the set for that. There are dozens of set bonuses that are useless. This one isn't even necessarily useless because everyone can have a heal if they want one. -

Quote:KnockUp is just Knockback aimed at a different angle (i.e. UP).Knockdown is essentially low-mag Knockback, but I always thought Knockup (what knockout blow does) was a different effect altogether. If it is a different effect, and both effects have had a decimal in the mag displaced, then that seems way too coincidental to be an accident.

Went to PI and tried this out with my Peacebringer. Not going to lie, really enjoyed the character for the first time. But this is clearly a bug and should be fixed.

Quote:This is the long and the short of it. Regen is actually better at handling burst damage than it was in the bad old days of toggle IH. And that's its one and only weakness really.Regen rewards player skill more than any other set in the game. You know that when you pull off something crazy with a Regen, it wasn't your uber-expensive soft-capped build that got you through it. YOU got you through it.
Under the conditions that most players here expect melees to deal with (no temps, no inspirations) yes Regen underperforms. Personally, I use all tools available to me, and I have no problems. My SS/Regen Brute tanks, my BS/Regen Scrapper solos grenades and acid containers on Lambda. Is it as effortless as it is for my Fire/Shield Scrapper...no. Sometimes, my timing is off and I go squish. But heck, that really doesn't cause that much of a problem in this game.
