OK, I will.

And yet not know they have it.

I want Ninjitsu as it is. No changes other than changing Hide to a generic stealth/+def power. EDIT: And changing Caltrops to something equivalent.

I have to say that the alignment change token rubs me the wrong way too. At some point you have to wonder if there's any limit to what's for sale in the market.

I'm not sure there is a generally accepted definition. Personally, I believe anything that lets you create a well-geared character without playing the game is Pay to Win. In games where PvP is the principle activity, a more narrow definition of "win" might hold sway. But in CoH....lol PvP.

Regen is in good shape as is, IMO. I can't see that it really needs any debuff resistance. It's not a bad thing having some capacity to be defeated....right?

Quote:In practice though, don't they actually bind themselves to those descriptions when dealing with Blasters?The text description in the dated manuals is one thing, but the developers do not design explicitly bound to them. There are, on the other hand, very concrete quantitative balancing rules they *do* follow, and Blasters as an archetype are the only archetype we know for certain failed to meet them completely across all of its powerset combinations. The devs don't just *intend* for Blasters to meet those requirements, they have a *mandate* that requires them to ensure they do. That's the only reason Defiance 2.0 was created in the first place.
The descriptions are only useful when discussing what reasonable expectations should be for players. Bringing them up when talking about balance problems with archetypes is random static.
EDIT: It's nice to actually discuss a game with reasonable people again. -
Quote:I agree it is ludicrous. But the Blaster AT design is ludicrous. Let's go back to the beginning. 4 of the 5 ATs had at least something to help defend themselves. Even Empathy Defenders could heal themselves a little although most of their set was useless to them personally.If that were true, then you're saying if the devs buffed every archetype except one, and discovered that one was underperforming, the solution to accidentally not buffing it would be to eliminate it. Which is ludicrous.
But that's actually what happened to Blasters. Their realm of specialty was supposed to be damage, but just about every archetype that has ever been reviewed or buffed by the devs has had significant damage increases as part of the package. And its not enough to say that Blaster damage was increased also, because increasing *everyone's* damage serves to dilute the advantage. Not to mention the fact that many archetypes' damage have been buffed to a higher degree than Blasters over the years, like both Scrappers and Tankers.
And then over the next 8 years they buffed just about every other AT's damage as you state, while only very slightly buffing Blaster survivability. On the basis that you can't buff Blaster survivability. If the devs are going to stick to their guns that Blasters can't have too much survivability, then the AT will always need help. Continuing to buff around the margins is a waste of time. Cut your losses and move on.
Quote:That's an interesting idea, but I don't think its necessary. Adding control to blasters in a palatable way is, however, one of my priorities. Some sets have a lot of it in some areas, some don't. The big question is whether the extreme cases are actually closer to where we want blasters to be rather than outliers, sets like Dark and Sonic for example. If they are more like what Blasters are supposed to be, then such features can be added to Blaster sets by fiat: they do not trigger any special power design formulas (at least by design formula, mez is "free"). -
Not really. IMO, what it would take to bring Blaster performance into the range of other ATs would be eliminating the Blaster AT and replacing it with an AT that's better but just still called "Blasters". If every combo of an AT underperforms the average, that means that the AT concept is flawed. It needs to be removed.
Personally, I would just make Blasters: Ranged Damage/Control. Then I would created a new AT called Blaster Legacy. Which would have the Manipulation sets. Blaster Legacy would have BIG warning labels saying that this AT is significantly more difficult than other ATs and that the player can expect lesser performance as a result. -
I've played every combo that I wish to play at this point. If there were never another powerset created, I would never create another alt.

I've been....elsewhere for the most part since December 13th, so I had a crapload of Paragon Points waiting for me when I logged in yesterday to try these out. Bought a 24 pack.
Wound up with:
The whole Elemental Order set;
About 900 merits;
Various ATOs;
Some catalysts; boosters; other misc. stuff.
Not bad. The only thing that's sorta Pay to Win is the merits. I'm as big a Paragon studios fanboy as much as the next guy, but buying loot is pay to win, even if you can earn them elsewhere. I just don't mind. -
They need to stop buffing altogether. No AT in this game really needs help anymore.

Quote:Which is also why they need a store at portal corp.Besides, I don't want to pop into Peregrine at the Ferry or the Vanguard Base or the Oportal drop-off point, or the Base Beacon drop-off point.
I want to pop into Peregrine at Portal Corp. Where 90% of stuff happens in Peregine. Where there are *portals*!!!!!
Give me something like that so I can stop running the length of the island every time I go there. -
Without getting into the solo v. group debate, the OP is wrong in describing people who enjoy to solo as introverts. I score very high on most tests for introversion, but I like to group. Grouping does not have many of the stressors that make real life social activities so physically and mentally exhausting.
Just wanted to say that, I leave you to your dead horse. -

The SSAs are free/easy alignment merits. Pay no attention to that absurd story.

Did the arc this morning. More out of morbid curiosity since I've been spending most of my time on Belsavis recently.
I felt it was handled as well as something pre-spoiled could be. He died, there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it, and I didn't care. I don't even care about how we eventually defeat his killer. It's as obvious the killer is not going to win as was Statesman's death.
The SSAs have been probably the worst storytelling in this game so far. It's not interactive. We are reading a story, we just have to push buttons to move through it.
Oh well, we get a free hero merit every week out of it. -
Long-time regent scrapper player here, immediately made a SS/regen when I21 went live. Awesome character, doesn't die much at all and can tank very well after IOs.

Just like Arrested Development before it, Community is a quirky comedy that appeals to folks who don't normally watch TV sitcoms. I love the show, but then I understand why the general public doesn't.

Have a 50 DM/EA brute who is immortal and a 50 KM/EA who is nigh immortal. Both are obscenely fun. EA is my favorite armor set now, slightly edging out Shield.
-
The SSA's explicitly take place in the present. The SSAs mention the Faultline story as having occured five years ago. Levels no longer represent a marking in time.

Wentworth's is a PvP game. It's actually one of the worst player selling systems I've seen in any game in terms of creating an efficient market.
-
Marketers have used product placements as well as ad spots because of DVRs. Because of this, I am still keeping up my end of the bargain.
