all i want is being able to use salvage to make enhancements. Not only is it a great idea to get more people into SG mode and salvage, but it solves the infleunce problem people complain about with not being able to buy all the enhancements they want.
[/ QUOTE ]
/signed. I've written up about four systems for how this could work, salvage makes this easy. -

Poor Castle, it's going to be ugly when the worm turns.
[/ QUOTE ]
Naw see, Castle has given bad news before. But the thing is that he just tell the unvarnished truth, no BS. I respect that a lot and wish all the devs had the courage to just stop hiding behind spin and tell us what they did and why. -

My favorite moment in CoV (think I was around level 10 at the time):
25% Health, very low Endurance, high Fury, only a single Inspiration left (Defense), spawn of 3 minions in front of me. Rest is recharge and I'm about to hit it when I think screw it, I'm going in. Luckily the first guy dropped a Heal Inspiration. Not sure if I wouldn't made it without it. Fury makes you do dumb things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude, 25% health and a purple is enough to take on a BOSS when you gots the Fury!
Try harder next time. -

You're wasting your time. Reason, fairness, and other silly things like that are foreign concepts to developers. Remember, such foes are the equivalents their characters, and they're not going to gimp their characters vs. the Enemy (players).

I trust you'll be happy to learn that I changed Ballista based on feedback in this thread.

Ouch! -
Where do you get that from. The patch notes don't say anything about it.

My Ninja/EA is a happy girl. I think Geko got body-snatched.

[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, he is. He was designed to be as close to a Player Hero as we could make him. How do you guys like the Toggle Drop on him? Is it too nasty or does it add a nice challenge?
[/ QUOTE ]
It eliminated a challenge for me. A challenge would have been to go up against a tough Elite boss solo and stomp him. In a later arc, I fought that Golden Sphinx (or something) EM/INV tank hero and he was rough, but eventually I beat him after having died once. That was a fun and fair fight though.
Ballista was stupid, I simply couldn't win even with multiple inspirations. Ballistae wasn't like any player I knew. He seems to be a FF/Eng/Eng defender. Except he had level 50 tanker HP, and boss level resistances to mez. I fought him in my early 20 so I think it rather ridiculous that he either had an epic pool or three powersets.
So what I did is left the mission, invited three masterminds and a corrupter and watched the pets kill him. Greatly unsatisfying.
You know, I get the whole thing about wanting people to team. I realize that it increases the likelihood that someone will build relationships and stay in the game. But you guys have to realize that a well built team sucks all challenge out of the game. Even a crappy team can usually zerg most stuff.
When players could solo AVs, it was a memorable experience. Now an AV is just an annoying roadblock. Invite group, decimate AV, move on to next. -

I've seen a lot of complaints about this so I brought it up before we went live. We changed it so certain toggle effects fade out but it didn't make it into live. Dark Armor shouldn't be so bad anymore once this gets updated. The same goes for Mud Pots.

My Ice/Axe tank keeps groups safe by keeping dangerous boss mobs on their [censored] for the majority of the fight, I can't tank the whole spawn but do I really need to tank Minions?
[/ QUOTE ]
So, if Scrappers are the Dev-appointed Boss-killers, then the Tank's role is to protect the Scrapper so that he can do his job?
Hands up, any Scrappers in the audience: do you need a bodyguard to kill a Boss?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, but that additional tiny DoT (i.e. Tanker damage) is always helpful, so I can move on to the next target in an expeditious manner.

Statesman, so it's expected that the rest of the team will still be getting hit even with a Tanker? Not complaining or fighting with you, just asking.
I know this isn't every other game, but this is a question of expectations. In most MMOs, a tank that can't handle most to all aggro is not considered to be much of a tank unless the rest of the team is off throwing Ice Comets (silly Wizards).
It seems that what you're saying is that the tank is there only to return the majority of the team to the solo standard of 3 white minions or slightly better.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with what you said, but there's more to it. Just as there's synergy between members on a team, there's also synergy within an 16-enemy spawn for a team of 7. On rugged, that spawn would have been 52 carnies, which is nothing to sneeze at.
The tank can pick and choose which of the enemies to get the aggro from, while the scrapper cannot. This does give the tank an advantage.
The question is, is this a big enough advantage to be important?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not so sure about that. As a Scrapper you can perform a role very similar to the Tank that Statesman presents. Give me some proper support (i.e. a good defender or controller with resist or def buffs) and many Scrapper can tank major targets (AVs and Monsters) as easily as a tank. As for large spawns, Tanks have a slight edge in aggro creation, but I wonder if these days, if I couldn't generate enough aggro with Energy Torrent and Whirling Sword to keep a good portion of the spawn occupied.
Interestingly enough with extreme support (say a sonic defender and a FF defender) I wonder if my Blaster wouldn't make the best tank. Ice Storm and Frost Breath and you got more than five mobs ticked at you in seconds. If you really have some good support why not just Blizzard to kill the minions and then tank the Bosses and stray Lts.
I don't mean this to be overly argumentative, but it seems that Tankers, while being the best at tanking, have so little to bring to the table (i.e. an advantage in HP and aggro generation) that a team would be better off with more damage, more control, or more support. -

I DO find it Interesting that Statesman always refers to MMORPGchart.com's numbers, but never the actual numbers posted by NCSoft itself where you CAN see subscrber actual hard subscription and usage number (just look at the MX-Excel spreadsheet they have - on opening it, while the tabs are in Korean; the info is tabulated and in English). My point is: The numbers ARE EASILY available to Jack and Co; yet he likes to refer to Sir Bruce's numbers, which even Sir Bruce himself admits are often speculation on his part because many games DO NOT publically publish numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where do you think SirBruce gets his numbers?

I was a fan long before I started working here, so I like being able to participate with the community in a meaningful manner. I was on the boards as a fan within days after they went up a few years back and got used to posting on ocassion.

I've told Statesman this, but communication like this makes nerfs go down a lot easier. Like the Mez protection change. Just knowing that it was intentional calms a lot of people.
Now, of course, since we don't know WHY, we shall all speculate that it's for PvP and even when you guys tell us it's not we'll continue to say it is and fight about it for weeks. I think your posts have really quelled a lot of issues in advance before they become major flame wars.
The reason for this post is that while we get mad at you guys (ZOMG, you nerfed REGEN again I h4t3 you DEVS!!) we really enjoy your posts a lot even the bad news.
So thanks a lot, and keep on posting! -

Accuracy: Base accuracy for Hero v. Hero in Warburg seems to be floating around 50%. Due to the nature of the equation, this is a serious defense against anyone who does not have +to-hit buffs, and a minimal defense against those who do have such buffs. This does not trouble me, as the resist based sets offer little-to-no mitigation in many cases now, so balance is not implicated. But is that 50% number an 'intended condition', that we can expect to see propigating throughout PvP? Or is it a bug?
[/ QUOTE ]
We've reduced base To Hit from 75% to 50% for PvP purposes. This change was made to give Defense sets more effectiveness. With the ED changes, coupled with the prevalence of +To Hit buffs it was necessary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone know if this affects PvE as well?
[/ QUOTE ]
It does not. I've tested it. Not extensively, but there is no way we're anywhere near 50%. I come up with an average of 73% after three short tests (100 brawls) so I have no reason to believe it's less.
EDIT: _Castle_ you rock. Can we assume you're the Scrapper rep? If not, will you be? We need someone like you. We're an unruly lot. -

For those players who have reached the Salvage Limit with one or more pieces:
Is your SG capable of making a Worktable so you can consume some of that Salvage into the raw material? (Raw material has a limit of 99 currently).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm getting there, but not yet. Not even close to having enough prestige for a base, but the salvage is climbing each day. I'm just ignoring it, but it would be so much better if there was a way to craft PRIOR to getting all the required components for a base.
Perhaps those universities could rent us out some space and perhaps take what we make in exchange for touting the virtues of our SG (i.e. prestige)? -

You know the interesting thing is they are saying we're lying by saying that it never had Psi Defense aren't they? I mean I've yet to see a regenner post anything but that it most certainly did have Psi defense and yet here they are saying it never did. Interesting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just popping in to clear up a misconception. This bit is really a semantic issue. We have an Attribute that applies +Defense to Psionic. We usually refer to this as "Psionic Defense" and do not consider other forms of +Defense that MAY cover Psionics. Turning on The Way Back Machine (thanks to Mr. Peabody and Sherman for allowing its use!) to the very first Live version of the data, I see that Moment of Glory did, in fact, offer +Defense to EVERYTHING because it modified Base Defense. Smashing, Lethal, Ranged, Hamidon -- everything. That was TOO effective. So, at some point (I'm not going through hundreds of revisions to fin out when) MoG was changed so that it only covered the bits desired.
So, if we were lying to you, it was an error of omission, rather than an act of malice. When we get a PM saying "Why did you remove Psionic Defense from MoG?" we check specifically for +Psi Def. Sometimes we have the time to do more in depth reseach into changes, but most often we do not.
Whether or not the 'Hole' in Psionic protection makes the power 'gimped' isn't a discussion I am going to get into, however.
[/ QUOTE ]
You might take Positron's spot as my favorite dev. Simple explanation. Since you won't argue about whether MoG is gimp or not (no need to argue it is), I will just say thanks for finally clearing that up.
If nothing else, it lets the fanbois know we weren't lying.
EDIT: Oh, of course, Castle this means that you guys have in fact nerfed Regen SPECIFICALLY in every update since Issue 3. You can't just wrap us up in ED and say you weren't singling us out.
ZOMG!!!DEVS HATE REGEN!!!!lol!!11!!! -
[ QUOTE ]
I was quite annoyed about the stealth nerf to MoG too. I used it to tank against Carnies and Countess Crey, ya think I don't know it had Psy defence? The only reason I used it was so the damn carnie bosses couldn't sap me and then kill me with their psy powers and it actually made Countess Crey miss me the entire time it was on.
Oh well. I'll go enjoy my Mastermind.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was the great thing about MoG in I3. It was risky, but reasonable. MoG had it's crash at the beginning and at the end you could heal up while still protected. I too remember going up against a Carnie Boss and using MoG (because I was too lazy to go back and buy lucks).
I KNOW it had Psi defense. Dangerous to use, but it was there. -

i recall this one red post about not stealth nerfing... i used to hold high the mighty MoG. but alas, for over yonder hill creeps the assassin that stealth uh... assassinated MoG. oh, MoG, we knew thee well...
(this is me being overly dramatic without good cause)
ps, ha... i called him out on his little slip of the tounge. he might as well have said: regen is dead, it just doesn't know it yet; or We, the devs, hereby annouce that we hate regen.
[/ QUOTE ]
MoG was not stealth nerfed. The power description clearly states that it no longer has Psi defense. However, the devs didn't have the courage to admit that it used to and that they screwed up. I can see it. They realize that MoG had Psi defense, realize that they never wanted it to, but couldn't bring themselves to directly nerf Regen when there were no other individual nerfs in I6 (just the global ED change). They knew we would file this in the cabinet as proof that we are the most scorned and that they would have no way to rebut it. Now they can rebut it, even though they would be lying. So they tell CuppaJo to say that it never had Psi defense.
Since CuppaJo believes this, there is no way to say she's lying. Crafty those devs are. -
Just a bit of news, the devs claim that they have no current plans to take QR away from us. We'll see, but then again, Issue 7 is a long ways off.
