    They do exist!

    [ QUOTE ]
A demon? Are you kidding me? Um, that's about as pure a symbol of evil as you can get. I don't care whether it's unintelligent. You can't "domesticate" demons to be cuddly and nice. They are supernatural manifestations of evil, period.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Demons are fallen angels. My little demon, Bob got framed. He was Lucifer's card partner at the angelic card game. When Lucifer told Bob that he wanted to challenge the King, Bob assumed he meant he wanted Bob to play his Ace.

Bob agreed to Lucifer's scheme and got thrown in hell with the rest. When the hero Kyll, whose mutation gave her angelic wings and the power to heal challenged the Praetorian Infernal, Bob mistook Kyll for his old girlfriend in heaven. Begging for mercy, Bob agreed to serve Kyll in her fight against the forces of evil. Kyll being merciful took Bob under her wing.

The angelic host in heaven thought the heroism of Kyll might reform Bob and so freed him from the clutches of Hell, but left him in his demonic form. However they shrunk him down to size and then stipped him of his hellfire powers.

Now Kyll and Bob are partners in crimefighting.

I liked Suikoden for this reason. Filling your base with bustling people made it feel cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I loved that series. It was really amazing to come home and see that your min..err followers had built up the base in your absence.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps he's referring to the huge amount of customisation you have within your instanced base. I don't think that both the levels of customisation AND having an instanced base is something that appears within any other MMOG - feel free to prove me wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everquest II homes are easily as customizable as bases, but it has different limiters (having to deal with crafters to get the really cool furniture).

    0. The bird is at rest in its nest. And if you knew everything like I do you would have known that.

I don't mind that Illusionists can do some tanking. I don't mind that pets can substitute for a tank sometimes. I don't mind that a decent scrapper can do some tanking. But when any one of these three can tank better than I, a tank, for 90% of the content, there is something wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They can't tank better. They can tank well enough with the support a tanker needs.

Well, scrappers can't. I hear illusionists can tank pretty well, but I'm not sure how they do it without perma-PA.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With Spectral Terror and Phantom Army and Personal Force Field, I can main tank any spawn in the game.

I just rechecked this. It looks like Brute taunt auras (invincibility, mud pots) are exempt from this restriction. The inherent taunt of those powers apparently is set to work on all NPCs, but the Tanker equivalents do not.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, I hope your "source" works both ways and gets that problem to a Dev.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indirectly, it did.

No comments on the gauntlet issue at the moment -- but I am reading the threads and taking notes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Give Tankers Confront to go along with Gauntlet. Tanker wants to be uber aggro magnet they'll still take taunt. Everyone else will be able to do their job in most circumstances.

Katana has...Dragon, Dragonfly, Wolf, Wasp, and...wait, does Gambler count as an animal? Let's say no. And a lotus is a damn plant. 4.

MA has Crane, Dragon, Cobra, and Eagle. And a Warrior might just be counted as a human animal like the gambler, but let's just ignore that for the time being. So, 4 too.

    I'd say they're about even.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Arcana doesn't know the first thing about "coolness" balance. Waste of time trying to understand her drivel.

Arcanaville: First person (well second behind Iokana) to go to for numbers, last to go to for CoX balance methodology.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you're joining in on the joke, even though you sound serious. Otherwise, I'm ok with replacing cobra strike with the Cone of a Thousand Disorients right now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    MA is already 1337.

MA has 1000 cool points. While Spines and BS are ugly and plain respectively.

    In Geko's world:

    COOL POINTS > effectiveness

Hence why Fly must forever be gimpier than SJ and why War Mace, the plainest and weakest looking Tanker weapon should have the mega move. One of these days Arcana, you're going to understand something about balance. You've shown no evidence of it as yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you truly possessed the wisdom of the gods, you'd know that the buff coming for War Mace is to add swooping sounds to the swings and big flashes of light when it strikes a target, all the while reducing the damage of Bash.

Because Gaudy > Cool > Effective, and Gaudy costs damage or its overpowered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hear you nothing that I say...

I left out Gaudy because its irrelevant but you ignored that

Asian sounding names > Gaudy > Cool > Effective

And since MA has both Asian sounding names + Cool it's clearly better than Spines or BS and is justifiably gimp on the effectiveness scale. Your petulance is unsettling.

Can you imagine how powerful the pocket d temp power would be for pvp if it had a reasonable activation time. It would make all escape powers pale in comparison.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And that is why it has a long, interruptable activation time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I knew this to be the case. It's just annoying that the multitudes who either don't PvP or wouldn't care if people could do this in PvP have to be inconvenienced. *Sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think Castle is saying "it would be too powerful in PvP if it had a quick activation time" I think he is saying "it would be too powerful of an escape power if it had a quick activation time" PvP or PvE.

If it was just a PvP issue, they could have simply inhibited it in the PvP zones.

As a means to zone to Pocket D, or even to use Pocket D as a short cut to other zones, the activation time is trivial. The activation time is only really non-trivial if you are attempting to use it in combat, and its explicitly not meant to be used as a reliable means to escape combat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't really think PvE has much to do with it. Running in PvE is so easy. The mobs give up very quick in most cases. Players chase you down.

I'm not upset about it, mind you, but I know the veteran award base teleport will be the same way.

Damnit EG.... Why does your rationalization function only have 2 settings?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Take the Evil off the front of my name. Then consider why. Is it right? No. But I'm not calling for nerfs EVER.

    [ QUOTE ]
I mean really, where do you get off saying that "oh the rest of that set is mediocre so one of the powers should be allowed to be Uber" ....By that logic, WarMace should be given a 37.5 BI "Goard Thumper of 1000 truths" attack. (I won't even go into the Dead-Carp attacks)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm... War Mace SHOULD be given a 37.5 BI "Goard Thumper of 1000 truths" attack.

Bitter Ice Blast also defies all logic-for-balance to the Nth degree in a similar

    Impale vs. Focus

    [ QUOTE ]
Impales needs it's range reduced. And its immob. reduced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It actually needs neither of those things. That set doesn't have a lot of the burst damage of other Scrapper, Stalkers sets (AS excluded).

Someone pinch me and tell me that I'm only imagining someone trying to aim the nerfbat at Claws.

Pinch me again and tell me it's not Arcanaville.

Then pinch Arcanaville and remind him that the criticals and higher DPA help Focus achieve just slightly less damage then Corruptor Power Burst on S/L-resistant enemies.

PS: Power Blast has higher DPA than Power Burst.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Arcana gets a little, how should I say this, "Less than impartial" when talking about the sets in his signature.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Unbelievably, Impale is 80' range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, its no more unbelievable than that focus has twice the range and 14% higher dpa than power burst, the best dpa attack in energy blast (and that's not counting criticals)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Be nice you.

It's not Castle's fault you didn't go Ice like any reasonable Blaster.
  21. Good job. I've never been able to get my head around updating my calculator to work with ED.
  22. Oh, I guess that makes sense for Recon. I'll tell you though, in a heavily toxic environment (pun not intended) (like Warburg underground) I use Recon enough to keep the buff up permanent. Also, you still have the old numbers for the Unyielding debuff for invul.
  23. Regen's toxic analysis is off. Recon has a 15% toxic resist buff and resilience is 7.5%.

    Good job BTW.

Free respecs introduced in January 2005, with Issue 3.

Issue 3 - free respec given
Issue 4 - free respec given
Issue 5 - free respec given
Issue 6 - free respec given
Issue 7 - free respec given

Note: some respecs were given shortly before an issue release, some shortly after.

The devs should just say what their policy is. "No, we do not plan to give out free respecs every issue" or "Yes, we will be issuing a free respec with each issue" or "We won't be giving out free respecs every issue, but we might be giving out free punch and pie".

    Easy peasy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree to a point. I just think they should give out a respec every issue. Not because it's needed, but because they have given one out on or around every issue since 3. Also because Statesman told me more than a year ago they were looking to create a unlimited respec trial for level 50s which we are still waiting for.
