because anything else hinges on the frequency one eats at McDonald's and not simply a single visit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude... when was the last time you hammered down two sausage, egg and cheese McGriddles and a coke?
It's so good goin down... but 20 minutes later you feel like you had ingested a 5th of drano with some shots of paint thinner.
[/ QUOTE ]
That goes to portion sizes. If you had ate half of one of those sandwiches and an 8 oz coke, you probably would have been fine depending on your tolerance for grease.
However, seriously Bill, McGriddles? Ugh... The person who thought up making a sandwich with pancakes and syrup needs to be shot. -

Gecko's comment is the only rational response to the comment concerning the content of McDonald's food, because anything else hinges on the frequency one eats at McDonald's and not simply a single visit.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's an interesting point and why "Supersize Me" while entertaining was BS. There's nothing wrong with having a big plate of greasy food....occassionally. It has no business being part of a normal healthy diet, but sometimes it's ok.
The point I made simple went to the food sourcing and hygiene. Despite the horror stories about the kid dropping food on the floor, most fast food chains are literally obssessed with food safety.
They might not mind giving you hypertension and diabetes after having eaten there for 20 years, but they sure as heck don't EVER want to see someone get food poisoning in their restaurants. That's why McDonald's has an extensive food safety compliance program for their suppliers and restaurants.
Most family owned restaurants and such might keep a very clean kitchen, but they usually don't have the resources or market strength to demand the kind of assurances that McDonald's can of their food suppliers. -

I only mentioned one thing folks. I'm not suggesting you start eating at McDonald's. I much prefer the local restaurants who use local organic food. BUT!!! That has nothing to do with what I said.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't normally care, but I'm staring at an intractable problem at work right now, and I'm venting.
I'm calling you on constructing a deliberately missleading statement by touting a single element, which may well be accurate, but is of limited relevance to the overall context of the larger, and more important discussion, that being: would Arcana eat at McDonald's except under pressure of relatively dire need.
[/ QUOTE ]
What's misleading about it?
I didn't say: "You're much better off safety wise, eating at McDonald's"
No, I put the qualifiers right there in the statement. So to call the statement "misleading" is patently untrue. If you didn't read the qualifiers or chose to respond to an argument not made, that's not my fault.
NOW STOP GOLDBRICKING AND GET BACK TO WORK!!! -

I thought the SR lounge was just Arcanaville and a graphing calculator in a booth at the local McDonald's?
[/ QUOTE ]
For some reason I'd expect Arcana to know far too much about the content of such "food" to dine at such an establishment... But one never knows...
[/ QUOTE ]
Interestingly enough, McDonald's is one of the safer places to eat. Taste aside, you're [u]generally[u] much better off [u]germ wise[u] at a fast food place than at that nice local restaurant with the fabulous food.

I can't comment on germs, but I'm actually thinking in terms of nutrition and quality.

That sounds like the kind of factoid that someone just made up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Read Fast Food Nation.
Like the poster above said, there are PLENTY of things wrong with McDonald's. But food safety tends not to be it. But then most restaurant food is unhealthy. -

Changes the EvilGeko would implement (But the devs probably won't):
1) New Server - Conflict - Full on PvP server
Mob spawns are very limited outdoors. All zones except Mercy, Atlas, Port Oakes, Galaxy, King's Row, Pocket D and RWZ are hero v. villain PvP. (Warburg can stay FFA)
Longbow creates bases for heroes to hospital/sell/etc. in the Rogue Isles.
Arachnos creates bases for villains to hospital/sell/etc. in Paragon City and surrounding isles.
People have to pay to transfer there, but for a short time, the cost is halved.
2) Different PvP powers ruleset
Having a separate server allows for a different ruleset. Balance the game for PvP. Leave the PvE server's PvP alone. If you stay there, then you accept that PvP isn't balanced and no whining about it should be considered seriously. -

Ok, but I can't talk about Issue 11 or beyond... but that's pretty much what you guys WANT me to talk about so we are at an impass.
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm.. I'm happy to wait for any information on future issues.
I want to know,
Why you guys won't fix: MoG, Energy Aura, Consume, Fire Manipulation.
I eagerly await your response and appreciate your willingness to talk about anything other than Issue 11 and beyond! -

The hype I fear.
Richard Garriott's newest title promises to break the MMO mold and chart a new direction for the future of gaming!
It's a game. There is some new stuff but honestly, I don't think the tech exists yet to do what the hype promised.

Bingo - people are expecting something... groundbreaking, and they are not truly getting it.
I have been in the Beta for a while and seen lots of changes, I just couldn't see myself playing for long - it is fun and can be engaging, but for me there is something missing.. and I am not sure what that something is.

Makes sense. Personally, I've never even understood the hype. What the hell good is a MMO without elves? Even CoX allows you to make elves. -

I'd say the AT with a player who knows how to get the most out of their character brings the most to a team. Any AT/Powerset Combo can be great or the reverse, depending on how well they are played.

OK, so let's just say, hypothetically purely hypothetically, this were to happen. What sort of admission fee would you pay? -

Truth, but no ebay. I know this guy that I think could move Castle pretty quick and for a good price. -

Dude.
All I would do is make you fix MoG.
And nerf mobs' Sm, Le resists.
And [censored for the benefit of the children].
And I'd probably help AC make you fix Stalkers.

holy [censored], i need to play this guy more. He's only 39 right now.

Interesting thing is that I can see skipping IH before Resilience now. At least resilience is always there and holds the resist IOs without having to go tough. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
i would try to write one but I can't decide what to do with mine. I know what to do using common IOs and i know how to slot Set IOs to stack a desired effect, but i have no idea what effects I want or how much of them I want. And just using common IOs, Scrappers are so strong that anything I write would boil down to "slot what you want, it's pretty damn hard to [censored] this up now".
that said, what are you looking for in this build? want a common IO one first?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can do the common IOs. It's the sets that get me.
I mean, like, is it better to use a healing set or golgis in Instant Healing and/or Integration? Do the resist set bonuses make it worthwhile to take Resilience? That kind of thing. Is tough/weave an attractive option?
I could probably work all this out with a bit less laziness, I just get a headache looking at Mids when I pick Spines/Regen - or really, any powerset combo now that I've done my defender and scrapper. I'd guess going for +regen and +recharge would probably be a winning start.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's too many choices you have to make. Regens have three options for a 'focus' from what I can see:
1) Recharge (this is currently moving to FOTM status, but I think all those recharge boost might get the nerf before long)
2) Regen (this is popular, and has the advantage of giving just enough extra regen to make a difference, which for Regen means a lot)
3) Defense (this is a dark horse, but it's possible for certain sets to wind up with significant defense, in the teens and early twenties. Not sure if Spines can but I'd suspect so.) -

If there is a way to break the system, the clever and ingenious minds of the Scrapper forum will figure it out.
All because we scrappers (especially us green glowing types) are smart AND good looking.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I was just thinking about that... how / why the heck are scrappers - followers of the 6 second rule, inventors (and best implementors) of scrapper-lock, the epitome of whirling dervishes of mass descruction - some of (If not the most) methotical and scientific about game mechanics and build creation.
Ladies and gentlemen, that does not make sense!
[/ QUOTE ]
Scrappers own the hardest and we all figured that out while the noobs were playing with their hacked smoke grenade! -
[ QUOTE ]
Im still an IO newb Geck, so excuse me if this is a dumb question-
On my Spines/Regen toon, I could use IO sets like Devastation on Impale and Scirocco's Dervish on Spine Burst & Quills -which both have a +Regen set bonus to them -and get even higher regen rates than what you're getting there as long as I slot all my secondaries like you have?
Seems to me that would just be a sick amount of Regen Bonus...which is obviously a good thing - Im just trying to grasp if that is possible....?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure so long as you aren't going over 5 bonuses of a particular value (say 5 10% bonuses) you should be cool.
I'm sitting on about 80% or so of the bonuses and it's noticeable. -
Still don't understand what the big deal is. I think people need to relax and just put it out of their mind.
-
4 MAG of protection will stop ALL knockdowns and many knock effects. 8 MAG (2 IOs) will stop most of the rest. 12 (3 IOs) MAG will stop all but a small handful of attacks.
Acrobatics, however, cannot truly be replaced by IOs, as it's 100 MAG protection. -
[ QUOTE ]
Duke, you're pretty much blowing 4-5 slots if you're 6-slotting MoG for 3 Resists and 3 Defenses. With a base value of 71.25% resistance, the hit point drop (to 25%) versus resistance gain isn't a complete wash unless you put in the eqivalent of 1 TO (to put you at 75% resistance), therefore, all 3 resist slots are not a waste, but 2 of those slots, much like any slots you use for defense, are being wasted save in the presence of enemies that greatly lower resistance and/or defense.
The one good thing about MoG is that it is essentially a stand-alone power that is almost as strong as it is going to get (or needs to be) on its base slot.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. It's the one reason, I still keep the power despite being it's biggest detractor. I don't have to do anything other than slot my one membrane in it and it's about as good as it's going to get. Especially since Resilience and my IO bonuses close the resistance gap to all but Energy. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yah but you can use the invention bonuses. Unless you bump out other def/resist powers, which I don't have.
[/ QUOTE ]
True but in general the heal sets are better than the resist/def sets so you're better off using precious slots on your regen powers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally I would have liked this poll to have included a "least liked new feature" option. That way I could qualify my vote of the Consignment House being the best new feature (something I indulge hours messing with every day) with the actual Inventing System being the worst. The prohibitive costs for constructing a low-end IO and lack of any actual skill (in or out of game) involved combine to make crafting a pursuit for wealthy badgers, rather then something that could be an end in itself. A system were people could have made some real sacrifice (like taking an Inventing pool power) to gain some real benefits (lower costs, the ability to memorize set IOs, or maybe even the ability to Invent in the first place) might have made it interesting as a pursuit, but for now I mostly see it as something that tricks people into being profit sources for my consignment related pursuits.
[/ QUOTE ]
I will say that the actual process of crafting is pretty bleak. They could have put a table into Wentworth's without much loss in immersion.
The universities should have been the starting point for a tinkerer/crafter.
