  1. I'll say it again: Set the filter to not show "Work in Progress" arcs by default.

The Clave Dark 5s of the world probably don't want you playing their arc yet anyway (I wouldn't, if it was my arc that wasn't done yet) and the other 52,000 arcs are mostly stuff you probably don't want to play.

Well, yeah, that's what it's for. That's 57,000 arcs in progress though...
  3. 57,040 "Works in Progress." That's a lot of people publishing stuff that isn't ready for public consumption...

Then we had a whole group of people each put in a bid at the exact same price. Then the items were put up for sale at 1 inf, one at a time to see whose bid was filled first.

It is NOT first in, first out. It's basically random. It wasn't truly random. If we had a fixed number of people putting in bids at the same price, they would always get filled in the same order. If you have a large number of bidders, and they don't know the sequence in which everyone else listed their bids, it's EFFECTIVELY random.
I was there when you did the experiment. That's the only reason I bothered listing a bid at all, and it's probably how I got it. I cut in line. That still doesn't mean that I somehow managed to cut in line in front of 300 or so other people.

Well, yeah, if it's not a necessary part of your game enjoyment then of course it's put in just to shut people up, isn't it?

Or, you know, if something isn't game-breaking and it makes a lot of people enjoy the game more, then maybe, just maybe, the designers of a fun-time pretendy game should consider putting it in.

Not all prices are increasing at an insane rate. Which means that the stuff you sell isn't necessarily increasing in price along with the stuff you want to buy.

The most expensive stuff does not drop nearly often enough to keep up with the amount of inf being generated. Not all people generate inf by doing activities that generate this stuff; AE farming generates no purples and probably next to no pool Cs, regular farming very rarely generates pool Cs, high-level activity generates fewer mid-level recipes*, people who save up merits to buy recipes outright don't generate pool Cs for the market.

*I would actually be very curious to see how many people roll merits in the 45-50 range, thinking that will give them the "best" recipes.
  7. Thanks for playing. I think I know what killed you, looks like I need to rework it again. Like I said, I don't design for rewards, and the last mission of that arc (incidentally the only one on a big map) had its rewards absolutely gutted by the ally nerf. I chose not to change it since a fix has been promised.

I guess 999 mil. Upside down ebil.
  8. People are blaming RPers, when they should more rightly be denouncing narrowminded RPers, and those RPers who aren't very good at it.

I'm not sure any of them should really be blamed though. I have yet to read a "merged markets will interfere with RP" post that was in any way logical, well thought-out, or anything more than a knee-jerk reaction to change; nothing that would bring anyone with a lick of sense around to their point of view.

When the market was new, KB IOs averaged around 3 to 4 million. These days 10, 20, or 30 is common, or 100 if you want one in Zephyr form.
Really? Cause I've noticed that purples have gone down in price since the large-scale AE farming was squashed and regular mission farming was made easier.

Things go up in price, things go down in price. If you pay attention to what a large portion of the player base is doing, you can pretty much figure out why.

Me too. Then I can ask them how they do it, buy up a bunch of a relatively cheap item, arbitrarily decide it should be worth three times as much and make a killing.

Now you look at the bidding/selling and see there are 500 bidders but none for sale and the last one to sell was three days ago. Now you realize that if you bid your 2 billion, you'll essentially be the 501st person in line, which means you will be waiting literal months, perhaps years (I'm not exaggerating) unless you get lucky.
I got mine in a few weeks. I honestly don't think all those bids are for 2 billion, some may be remnants from when the IO was going for less. But your point still stands.

If you buy one at the crafting table and craft it it'll cost you about 900,000, iiirc. If you buy the recipe from the market and craft it, it'll be about 600,000 or so (or if you get the recipe as a drop, I'm counting the loss of inf you could have gotten if you'd vendored it.) If you have the badge and craft it, it's about 250,000. I craft commons and sell them when I'm bored. At times some of them regularly go for 1mil, even though that's 1) more expensive than making them yourself, and 2) way more than I list them for.

I love the idea of a market merge but as someone who has been happily frankenslotting all of my powers for the last 2 weeks Red Side calling the redside market "a complete drought" is a gross exaggeration.
As someone who has spent about a month trying to buy "vendor trash" Sleep, Confuse and Fear recipes for my level 35 Dominator, I can tell you it's not an exaggeration at all.

I'm not going to respond to every single relevant post, just some thoughts:

The CoT lore in CoV is rightly convoluted, since it all comes from the CoT or from the Mu. Neither would be particularly inclined to tell you the truth.

As for the CoT themselves, a good part of the confusion comes in when you don't differentiate between the Circle of Thorns and the Oranbegans. The guys you see walking around in robes with glowy green eyes? Circle of Thorns. Also known as meat puppets for the Oranbegans. Baron Zoria most certainly was (is?) possessed (you find his soul trapped in a crystal in the "Library of Souls" arc). The Oranbegans seek out those with the blood of Mu to possess because they're stronger in magic; presumably the higher-ranking Oranbegans get those bodies, while the redshirts have to make do with whatever they can kidnap. (I'm not sure whether the thorn-blade guys are possessed or not; the bios suggest they might not be but the glowy green eyes suggest they are.)

I'm not touching the Romulus/Requiem/I AM NICTUS thing, since time travel is only good for making messes and I don't enjoy playing Kheldians either.

Merging the servers may or may not address the market abusers. Until the problem players are dealt with, it's generally going to be less time-consuming for the casual player to keep doing what they've been doing: running AE, Ouro, and Task Forces for what they want.
The market loves the abuse. It's always ready to be abused and it doesn't discriminate; everyone can abuse the market whenever they want. It also thinks safety words are for sissies.

The market and Silver Mantis would get along really well.

It's not real. It's a video game. That's canon, deal. That means all this time your heroes have been selling weapons of mass destruction to people who have no real world experience fighting crime, but have gotten access to powers and items normally reserved for the most experienced heroes by playing video games.

Once discovered, the company would be shut down, permanently, no saving throw. (Not necessarily by the government -- what do you think e.g. Manticore would do if he had solid evidence Went's was dirty?)

In order for this state of affairs to persist, it must be the case that Wentworth's is openly corrupt and is being protected by the government -- which is simultaneously refusing to recognize the Rogue Isles, embargoing and giving support to the Phalanx's private war against such, etc. Which makes no sense. It doesn't make much sense that heroes would knowingly market their Weapons Of Mass Destruction components through a company known to be doing business with superhuman terrorists, either, but the average player doesn't give a fig for such trifles as world consistency.
So you are assuming that the government in the CoH world is both competent and well-meaning, even though there is nothing in canon that states that. And that the average hero knows everything that goes on with everybody. Gotcha.

Thank you for proving my point.

    Just an idea.

    Lisa.
I don't make arcs for ticket gain, nor do I play arcs that are made primarily for ticket gain, so I don't have anything to recommend to you.

Nethergoat has already posted how he finds them.

What does it matter that someone posts a story you personally don't like? I'm sure there are hundreds of players that don't like *your* arcs.

That's why there are search filters. Use them, and stop being some sort of purity Judge. It isn't like those stories are stealing hard drive space on the servers from you, or forcing you to change your playstyle (even though you fervently wish to do that to others.)
Wrong, wrong and wrong. What I'm essentially saying to people who need the very basics of arc creation spelled out to them is "Learn2play."

If there is a "5th Column/Rikti/Freaks/whatever on a Steel Canyon map with a blinky to complete and "kill stuff" for contact text" option on the search filter, please, tell me where it is so I can unclick it.

Because somebody else has already written the EXACT SAME FARM. People who possess basic AE knowledge can find it, instead of being too lazy and making their own. It's like going to the video store and having to sift past dozens of copies of the same three Adam Sandler movies to find something you might actually want to see.

You do that because you know what you are doing. You are sharing the how-to of farm arc creation with people who obviously don't know what they are doing, and are too lazy to learn, otherwise they wouldn't have to PM you. Do you honestly think someone who can't figure out the basics of AE will unpublish their crappy farm when they're done?

    Quote:
Funny, that as soon as I publish something that is universally well known that I get the exploit tag on this thread. There's no super secret on creating a farm mission nor do you have to use a farm mission in order to generate MA tickets. I also resent having to be politically correct in my posts saying that you shouldn't use farms, etc. and that you should ONLY use well crafted story arcs. Bah humbug to that.
Yes, it is well known, and if you don't know, it's very easy to find out. That's exactly why you shouldn't publish a step-by-step guide. People who are too lazy to take five minutes to figure out how to do this themselves don't deserve to know. They're kind of like the people who come into this forum and complain that they can't purple out their Warshades.

And if you're implying that I tagged your thread as an exploit, I didn't, because technically it isn't. It's just poor form.

The way I read the announcement, the inf will remain stored on the market until you claim it. So unless I'm misunderstanding something, you won't lose any inf.
  21. On behalf of the AE community I would like to thank you for showing everyone too dumb to figure it out for themselves how to clog up the AE interface with yet more copies of the same farm.

  23. I'll add Sonic/Energy or to a lesser extent Sonic/Electric Blaster. Siren's Song to put everything to sleep, heavy-hitting single-target attacks to pick them off. With Sonic/Energy you can also take Screech to stack with Total Focus on bosses.

I know it's a bit OCD, but there it is. If you could slot the Kismet unique, it would really help. If you run FA all the time, then ignore this paragraph.
I run FA when I need to. Dark Consumption comes up often enough that I can do that. I can hit +4s reliably with it running.

    - SL slotting... If you want to keep the Touch of the Nictus set bonus, then I'd really swap the Heal/HP/Regen/Recharge out and stick the Acc/End/Heal/HP/Regen in. You don't need the extra recharge in SL, as Santorican pointed out earlier and your Acc shoots up quite a lot.
Yeah, I'm still mucking around with the SL slotting. Fortunately Touch of the Nictuses are cheap, so I can swap them around until I find something I like.

Edit: Just took another look at that build...man I need to stop swapping things around, I lose track of what I'm doing. Yeah, what you said. Thanks.

    - I'd also consider removing another slot from Tough to put the third Membrane into AD for improved DDR. You'd lose .06 EPS, but your DDR would go from 85.8% to 92.8%. If you don't fight debuffers, then it's not worth the trade.
If I'm fighting debuffers I keep a few purples handy, just in case. There's also the "run away screaming" tactic; beneath this tough, soft-capped exterior is the squishy heart of a Blaster. I avoid Arachnos because I'm generally sick of them, for anything else I'm usually ok. Besides, it's nice to know there's at least something my /SR does better . If I only had more slots...
  25. When you roll you get items your level, so I believe it's level 10 to roll recipes with tickets. You can trade them in for salvage before that, at level 7 or 8.

I don't think players on trial accounts can use AE at all.
