Quote:They're all vigilantes. The Punisher is a Blaster, Wolverine is a Scrapper, Rorschach is probably a Scrapper too....all heroic ATs gone vigilante. I don't see what the problem is.The Punisher, Rorschach and Wolverine told me they disagree with the whole good and bad vs heroic and villianous archetype classifications in CoX.
Batman or Electra could be considered heroic/vigilante Stalkers. Definition of "stalk" from dictionary.com: to pursue or approach prey, quarry, etc., stealthily. There is nothing inherently villainous about that.
As for Corruptors, now that mine is a Rogue in Paragon the AT name finally makes sense. Think about it, there is nobody to corrupt in the Rogue Isles, they are already corrupt. It's a dumb name for an AT, always has been. -
Quote:The XP is worse but the inf/XP ratio is far better. Of course if you're going for maximum inf your best bet is just to farm [insert enemy group your farming character of choice does well against] on the Steel Canyon map. And of course most players probably don't realize that ticket rolls can net you ludicrous amounts of inf. And of course they probably don't care, they just want to get to 50 as fast as possible so they can complain stuff costs too much.Honestly however, the biggest stigma of AE atm seems to be that it's just... not really worth it from a reward standpoint. Maybe adding some cool titles or non-combat pets or costume pieces would entice people again... or more likely, just cause an influx of farming arcs all over again and/or potential griefing against non-farming storyarcs (stupid story, stop getting in the way of farming my AE gerbil pet!). No easy solution, sigh.
No matter how badges were re-introduced into AE, the badgers would just farm them, and pretty much everybody else just wouldn't care.
I honestly don't see how they can add any reward-based incentive to play AE that would cause more good than harm. The incentive is the ability to level up/play your 50s with new content instead of the same old stuff you've done over and over again. Content needs to be the focus. The search engine needs to be revamped to spotlight the good content (subjective as that is, I think most of us can agree on at least a few things that define "good content.") Good content needs to be promoted, in places other than this forum.
In an ideal world a casual player who wanted to run content could look at their contact list, unable to decide what contact they wanted to run, glance toward the AE building and think, "hmm, maybe I'll run an AE arc." Then they'd be able to walk into the building, click a few buttons (without having to search the forums to find out what buttons to click) and find a page of arcs with no "kill stuffz," no gameplay issues due to patches, no contortions with the search engine required.
I'd also like a publicly viewable favorites list because I'm lazy sometimes so if someone else has already found some good arcs for me that saves me the trouble of finding them myself. It also means you don't have to keep tabbing out to the forums to find people's recommendations, which is especially helpful for people who don't read the forums. -
Did the roomful of Nazis TF get its rewards reduced? Or is that one balanced out by the need to be able to kill Nosferatu?

I've mostly been playing my 50s, but I have been posting every mid-range recipe I get. Most of them have been crap so they haven't sold yet. I am however going to respec out my level 35 Positron's Blasts and list them once I get my Ragnaroks. There's no history and none for sale, so I can't justify overwriting a decent mid-level set like that.
-
I like to play my 50s, and there are only so many enemy groups available to fight at 50.
And that lethal damage vulnerability thing is nice too. The first time I did a Carnie mission with my Claws/WP Scrapper I found his new purpose in life. -
Clearing abandoned material, maybe. Revamping the search engine is probably more work than picking a few Dev's Choices though.
I would actually say the first priority would be to disallow rating arcs you haven't completed. We have a bunch of new and returning players, once they're done with the new shiny they might want to author some arcs, and ratings griefing is discouraging to authors. After all, we'll need some new content to replace the outdated stuff once it's removed. -
Give it a few weeks. Nobody cares about AE right now. Heck, I don't care about AE right now. I fixed my arcs to be i18 compatible and haven't touched AE since. I have my AE leveling toon sitting at 32, all those new Praetorians are approaching my level and will need stuff to buy, and I can't bring myself to care right now.
Once the new shiny has lost some of its new and shiny, we could use a few more Dev's Choices. Then they can start working on revamping the search engine and ratings system, and clearing out some of the dreck. -
Mind control/hypnosis is likely. The text for the badge in front of the big TV screen in Grandville:
Quote:Everybody loves Hypnotoad. This large display screen fell off its holster after a particularly rough battle between Black Scorpion and Captain Mako. It was supposed to be fixed, but progress kept halting as workers became too distracted by the images on the screen. -
I've noticed. I play on +3 though. I am no longer annihilating everything in a single shot. It was fun while it lasted, but the character is still fun to play so this is a hit I don't at all mind taking for the sake of balance.

Flag it "Vigilante." Somebody needs to go all Punisher on Disco's shiny polyester ***!

I think there was a patch note stating that the hot doors were removed from some warehouse maps. Who knows, they may have been removed from some of the other tilesets as well.
-
As of today, and the release of Going Rogue many maps have had brand new ally/captive/escort spawn points added right next to the door. Right where the guards for said ally/captive/escort will aggro on the player sometimes before they've finished zoning. These spawn points are classified as "middle." They do not show up on the mini-map in the editor, do not count in the total number of allied details allowed, but do show up on the mini-map when you enter the mission in test mode.
Maps affected by this issue include the Tech tilesets, the Smooth Caves tilesets, a few unique maps, and a lot more that I didn't actually test. So check your arcs if they use allied details, and be wary of hot doors when playing others' arcs.
I also plan on /bugging every map I come across with a hot door (/whereami will tell you exactly which map you're on, if you're inclined to /bug specific maps), since if this addition isn't a bug it's so stupid that it might as well be considered one. -
Quote:The one thing non-DH allies don't use and should IMO is self-only buffs and heals, such as Practiced Brawler and Reconstruction. It's still better than the initial implementation in which they didn't use their armor toggles either.Once again, very few powers are actually disabled. The powers that are confirmed to be disabled on a non-DH are Heals, Debuffs (as in it's a power that just debuffs, not an attack with a small debuff in it), Buffs (like Fortitude, Recovery Aura, etc...), Defensive Auras (Dispersion Bubble, etc...), Damage Auras, Mezz Auras (Oppressive Gloom, etc...), Holds, Rain Attacks, and Controller Pets. The DH will use ALL of their powers.

Quote:Well it is the board with what essentially comes down to a "who can kill faster" thread. When you're making those kinds of comparisons it's pretty obvious where the outliers are.I think this is the only board I have ever been on where people playing a particular set step forward and say that something isn't right and their own set is too powerful.
Quote:As for actually changing power order, I don't think you'll see it or if you do it will be very rare. I suspect the devs have a good solution about what to do with slotted IOs if they change the order of powers. They would have to unslot those somehow, and then deal with characters who log off with a full enhancement tray before the patch. My guess is that the IO removal also has to be hand programmed.
This too. -
Note that the critter doesn't have to be set to "follow" to designate themselves helper, even though the patch notes say they do. "Aggressive" critters not set to follow seem to become DH when they first enter combat instead of as soon as they're rescued.
Another interesting tidbit: any ally not set to "fight defensive" was, admittedly as of a few patches ago, correctly wandering, doing nothing, or running toward the door. Even if you lost them and reacquired them they didn't start to follow. Defensive allies were always following though. And the "run away" setting seemed borked; they were just standing there, and if you lost and reacquired them they'd fade out. -
Quote:Yeah, the problem is there's no point in bringing toons that can't solo most of it. Of course the speed runners want you to bring that debuffer...they just don't care if you die as long as you're there to help with the AV.Then up the difficulty
Or do what I've done when you have that toon on the TF who can solo most of it, go off and attack things yourself.
And LOL at turning up difficulty. Trying to get most teams to do that is like pulling teeth. -
Quote:Just replying to what I'm being given.Personally, I don't believe you. And the learn to play argument...that's so mature.
Quote:Additionally I understand more now about the scrapper forum, there'll never be agreement as there is too much ego flying around. I love the way you all refer to 'average players', as though you are some sort of superstar players. Yes some players are better than others, but spending billions on a character certainly helps bridge that gap.
Unless you're Electric, or Sonic, or Ice, or Energy....then it's not so much a case of being incapable of using your AoEs, as not having a lot of AoE to use (except in the case of Energy, where using your AoEs might actually interfere with using your AoEs). The whole "Blasters have superior AoE" argument falls apart when you start looking at sets that don't. -
Shadow Maul. Everybody and their brother has Sands of Mu, it would be nice if the original could be different somehow.
Not so much the animation of the eye beam powers, but the sound effect. It's like nails on a chalkboard.
Some of the Traps powers. You know, the ones that all have the same animation?
Maybe some of the AR powers could get a bit of gun-fu going too.
And alternate sounds for Taunt. Or better still, no sound. It's the only power that actually gives your character a voice, and I don't like the voice it gives me. -
Quote:Oh. Do purple inspirations not drop from those enemies? Do you not monitor your defense so if it starts dropping you can eat one to stop the cascade? So yes, cutting down the ability to enhance the DDR would neuter SD vs. -DEF enemies. I'm not sure that's a very good place for the set to be, because while it kills faster - it doesn't kill THAT much faster as to make massive -DEF irrelevant.
Here's a shocking revelation: I play /SD without capped DDR. I fight all kinds of enemies. I haven't had my defense drop to the point where I might as well not have a secondary in...I don't even remember. Learn to play.
Quote:The min/maxers who love SD want SD to stay as is, and the min/maxers who love some other set want SD to be nerfed. -
Quote:I used Comm Officers. Minimal risk, endless stream of fodder to replace what you kill. If you factored in the time spent collecting such precise fodder those top DM/SD times start to look a lot less impressive.I saw your numbers how many grey rikti monkeys did you have surrounding you when you did that ?
Until you can global mail packs of grey con enemies to fuel Souldrain and Against all odds that isnt relevant.
Of course in normal play, outside of these specific extreme situations, fully saturating AAO requires simply jumping into a x8 spawn. Takes about three seconds. I don't need to global mail you reasonably unthreatening minions because the game does it for me. -
Quote:That depends on how it's done. If only the high end is reduced, either by lowering the target cap or putting the buff on some kind of diminishing scale, then probably not much.
The only other main proposed nerf I'm remembering from the thread is reducing the damage buff from Against All Odds. Yeah, that'll affect Joe Average, but it won't be a huge affect. Joe Average might not even notice. It's again probably mostly the min/maxers that pay close attention that will notice and care.
I honestly don't think the low end needs to be touched at all. AAO is fine until you start surrounding yourself with scads of guys. -
Quote:If you do that at all you end up gimping everybody who hasn't poured a billion inf into their toon, or who isn't melee. You start giving everything to-hit buffs, you not only make life more difficult for the softcapped Scrappers, you make it more difficult for the Blaster who pops a purple to get through a tough fight, and the team bubbler gets to feel useless. And as has been mentioned, if something is overperforming a bit, it's just as easy to tweak enemies to compensate. Take defense for example. Softcapping makes you very tough, MOST of the time. There are things in this game that makes softcap defense pretty much meaningless - def debuffs and plus to hit. Defense builds doing too well? Just add more to hit buffs and def debuffs. When I see a bunch of nemesis missions in my future, I put my SD away and grab my WP. Of course if you do that too much then you end up gimping the set/builds that were doing too well.
We all had fun playing with our overpowered Shield Charge, now get over it. -
