  1. If you get that many shards you will probably generate more than 100 mil getting them.

Recluse ends in a tank and spank (with adds) and it often takes longer than Reischman because he's locked at 54 which lowers damage to about half.
I did not say they didn't involve tank and spank. I said they didn't involve an artificially inflated sack of HP. This is my problem with these Task Forces: the giant sack of HP, which in the case of Barracuda may not be defeatable by an otherwise well-balanced team because of arbitrary AT requirements.

Recluse being level 54 affects more than the time it takes to defeat him. It also makes him significantly more dangerous. Reichsman frankly isn't. The massive 5th Column ambushes would still be dangerous if Reichsman had normal HP. The added AVs would be MORE dangerous if he had normal HP, as it would then be possible, even likely, to get more than one at a time.

Running the same thing over and over for the rewards = farming. How fast or "correctly" you do it is irrelevant.

Someone who finishes an ITF in half an hour by skipping over as much as possible is speed-running just as much as someone who finishes in 20 minutes. Someone who lets their friend's lowbie door-sit in +2 tip missions is PLing the friend just as much as the guy using a +4 Battle Maiden.

So you can run through the same thing over and over faster than everyone else. Congratulations, I hope you derive much enjoyment from being a better farmer than everybody else. Everybody else who is doing what you're doing slower or "not correctly" is still farming. For real, even.

  5. Ugh, AoE immob spam. How I despise it.

My one and only Tanker was an Invul/Fire that I ran on a static team. This team included a Fire/Rad Controller who would open every fight with her AoE immob, the second I aggrod the mob, thereby immobilizing everything all over the place where not only was it much harder for me to grab and hold aggro, but everything was out of range of my Invincibility and not helping me survive. Sometimes I would tell her to please hold off for a few seconds and let everything bunch up a bit....and she would hold off for two spawns or so. Then, BAM, Fire Cages again.

Then she rolled up a Tanker of her own. Around the time she hit the mid-20s, running on a lot of PuGs, I got a tell from her apologizing profusely for her immob spam and swearing she would never EVER do it again.

The immob spam also made my husband swear off PuGs with his Ice/Fire Dom, since after everything that was fire caged on his Ice Slick killed the immob-spammer it would immediately turn around and kill him.

I see the point of Tanks necessarily drawing more argo via auras, but mechanically I would fear it would detract from using taunt and active argo management even more. That would just inflame the "do I need taunt" question even more. There's nothing I detest more on the tanker forums than the drawn-out theads on this subject (Needed? No. Does it *really* help? Heck yes!)
True story: I once ran an ITF with a stone Tank who had Taunt but didn't have Mudpots. AND he wanted to herd. Wow. Talk about useless.

And I really wish the Scrapper versions would have a taunt component. Lighter than the Tanker and Brute versions, but enough to keep stuff from RUNNING AWAY ALL THE FREAKING TIME. It's especially important with /DA since you have three mitigation powers that work best with a large number of enemies in melee range...well technically four, if you count the rez.

    An Inquiry

On my DM/SD: MG > Smite> SL > Smite. Because it kills stuff fastest.

On my DB/SR: Sweep Combo when I'm surrounded, BF > AS > SS > AS when I'm not. It's not quite gapless but when I had the Attack Vitals combo I never got to finish it half the time, so it lets me save on a power pick, and I loves me my Sweep Combo so that's not going anywhere.

On my MA/Regen: Eagles Claw > Dragon's Tail > Cobra Strike > Storm Kick when I'm surrounded, Eagles Claw > Cobra Strike > CAK > Storm Kick on single bosses because it stuns and looks awesome (even though the increased crit chance would benefit CAK more. Looking awesome trumps that chance for a bit more DPS.) On unstunnable hard targets I use the standard Cobra Strike > Storm Kick > CAK > Storm Kick.

On my Claws/WP: Follow Up > Focus > whatever's up while I wait for Follow Up and Focus to recharge. Throw in Spin and sometimes Shockwave for big mobs. Because Focus is awesome and I haven't gotten around to looking up the optimum single target Claws attack chain.

On my Katana/DA: Divine Avalanche when I need it, whatever's recharged when I don't. Again, haven't gotten around to looking up optimum attack chains, and I don't have really high recharge on her anyway.

And I would like enough recharge to run Flamethrower > Full Auto > Flamethrower > M30, repeat

I run my Storm Corruptor on +0/x7, and enough inspirations drop on that setting that I can have a breakfree ready to go for every spawn, with enough left over to have a red or two going as well.

Of course it depends on your secondary and slotting. My AR/Dark doesn't have much defense, so I'm limited to x4 or I can't survive the incoming damage. If your secondary is team-support oriented rather than debuff-oriented....I really don't know what to tell you, since I don't play those.

What do you mean "other MMOs?" This one has done it. Weakened Hamidon, Battle Maiden, the battle at the Kings Row stairs, Mr. I Am NICTUS, Recluse in the STF...they are all scripted encounters and none of them require the AV to have a million billion HP to make them "interesting."
  10. That's a good question. How are team leaders chosen in turnstile-formed raids? Sometimes it doesn't matter who has the star, someone steps up and starts acting like a leader and others follow, but sometimes it does, and in a League setting it will matter.

Once the queue is full and the system determines you can start, you should also not be INSTANTLY TPd to the location and teamed. Instead a pop-up with a countdown should come up. The countdown should likely be somewhere from 30 and 180 seconds.

You can join the queue teamed, apparently. So it's only a semi-PUG. Really, what other solution is there for people without a lot of in-game friends or on small servers, if they really want massive multi-team content? Aside from the obvious "don't make Incarnate trials massive multi-team raids," which would be fine by me, but apparently because the CoP is so popular they decided to make more like it.

Look at Hami raids. How many "special" people are there in a Hami raid? Now how many people are needed to just bring the right powersets, follow the leader, and stay out of Request?

That's why you need to set your difficulty higher (as in, more "teammates") and make a bind to combine insps into breakfrees.

The letter pretty heavily implied that there would be a means to get them with shards and inf.

Want. I do understand the reasoning behind removing you from the queue if you join a TF though, since a TF carries an implied commitment. It would probably also have to apply to Ouro and AE missions, due to their TF-style setup.

    Quote:
Yeah, or you have a situation where you didn't pull that person from that mission and it required the entire trial to wait until everyone completed their task.
If they choose not to be yanked they give up their spot in the queue, so the next person to sign up gets it. If they sign up as a team and one person chooses not to go, they are removed from the team.

No, the search button is for people who want to find teammates to invite to their teams. The "Turnstile" is for people who want to join a team but don't want to form one, or can't form one of sufficient size.

So? There are tons of ways to make inf in the game, including killing stuff, which you'll need to do to get your shards anyway. It's a stupid argument and I'll be happy to point anyone who makes it in the direction of the market forum where they will be torn to shreds by people who can refute that argument in their sleep. I don't expect the inf amount to be so high that only the most dedicated marketeers will be able to afford it. I just want it to be significant. More like A-merits, less like temp powers.

    Sweet. That's all I wanted.

Now please, devs, make the inf cost more than just a token amount. We need more inf sinks in this game. 50s can earn inf hand over fist these days, and we have very little to actually spend it on.

(TF speed runners look prone to leaving their settings low and burning through TFs even faster, so this will tend to mitigate inflationary effects on Reward Merit item production.) As long as a non-trivial proportion of the population ups their foe levels in step with their level shifts, it will tend towards inflationary effect. At least until we run out of level bumps to give our foes.
On the other hand, people who are just looking to produce drops will not increase their difficulty, and will be able to produce drops faster. You mentioned TF speed-runners, but I'm willing to bet drop farmers will do likewise. The level shift might also allow some people who don't already run on x8 to increase their virtual team size, which some might choose to do rather than increase their enemy level.

The question becomes, how many people will increase their difficulty, vs how many people will leave it as is and just produce stuff faster.

Both sets debuff, which is a huge part of what people are looking for when they ask for "support." All my Corruptors are debuffers too. They are all accepted when people ask for "support".....except maybe the traps guy.

That, in a nutshell, is me. You don't get more team players, you get more soloists looking for a team they could solo on.
Pretty much this. My tolerance for TFs is limited. When they were optional, I could gather shards solo on my Scrappers and join TFs with my Corruptors, because the Corruptors don't get shards as fast solo (I solo them on x7, but it's still not as efficient as a Scrapper.) Now that I HAVE to do the WST, I have to prioritize, and the Scrappers and Blasters have priority.

I'm just tossing it out as an idea of what might work for earning the Notice while solo. The cost/effort felt about right to me. I'll be more than open to other ideas of how to do it solo, naturally.
Reward merits. Let's say....pulling a number out of the air....75-100 merits. And 50 million inf, just because we need more inf sinks. You can only earn one Notice, through whatever method, in each WST cycle.

It's soloable, it's not realy fast or "easy," the WST is still the fastest way, teaming up for non-WST TFs is second-fastest, soloing is slowest. It doesn't require adding another currency, and it can't be achieved through demon farming. Frankly, I'll take an Apex and a Tin Mage with a side of ITF over a down-powered slog through Sister Psyche's Neverending Freakshow Buffet any day.

There have been several rounds of powerset proliferation, so I doubt that they're going to give up on it. It's like giving people new powersets after all, only easier.
