Quote:Except that in a Michael Bay production the explosions are cool and not yet another reason to not play a Mastermind. As for the Sutter TF I found it to be a complete Michael Bay production: $250 million spent on scenery and FX, $0.89 on the script.
This kind of stuff annoys me because if they just toned it back a bit we'd probably get more new content every issue. Look at Praetoria. We got what, 50 story arcs? And most of those missions were fairly straightforward, with the occasional fancy mechanic thrown in to make you go "oh, that's neat." -
Quote:No, it isn't. If we stopped them we'd have no reason to do it 30 more times. The actual event is stalling a weapons depot and an experimentation facility. My concern is stopping a science lab and weapons depot is a significant enough event to unlock our god-like powers. Sure, we battle giant robots and some AVs but the actual event is stopping a weapons depot and a experimentation facility with the subjects escaping.

The two new TFs are among the best stuff this game has to offer imo. They're varied, well constructed gameplay wise and internally consistent storywise. I like how they flow from one mission into another, with each mission being clearly different from the previous. -
Quote:I think it's meant to be a "dramatic angle," with the AV looming over you. Also known as a Blaster's Eye View. I never really noticed in the LGTF, but Nightstar's "pants" just look too uncomfortable not to notice. It's not the cutscenes I dislike... it's the crotch shots.
LGTF's Rikti crotch shot: Not funny. BAF's Nightstar crotch shot: Even less funny.
Of course the real issue is the hardcore nudity that this angle highlights. Won't somebody please think of the children? -

Quote:How about we have Levantera wearing what she's wearing in the RWZ to do the briefing. A briefing is kinda pointless when half the people you're talking to are paying attention to something else.If you have to have a woman with large..erm.....if you have to have a woman.....then have Levantera in a bikini do the briefing!
Pants. They're not just for guys anymore. -
Quote:You need 60 threads to put something in a slot, assuming you get no common component drops. That's like three trials, not 10 or 20. Run a fourth, buy up the rest of your iXP, get a shiny new power, stop grinding. I'm never going to see a very rare unless I get lucky or a less grindy way to get them is introduced. I'm 40 threads away from a rare because I got lucky, otherwise I'd never see one of those either unless a less grindy way to get them was introduced.Sure there's the idea of avoiding content you don't like to do. But if it takes say 10 or 20 trials to quickly collect the threads and components you need to actually craft the incarnate powers you want are you really saving yourself that much time buying iXP that you easily earn the first few times you run those trials anyway? Unlocked incarnate slots mean nothing if you don't have the threads to do anything with them. *shrugs*
Then there is also the "I want my shiny new power now because it will help me on the trials" aspect, especially with Judgement and Destiny. Even a common in one of those can be very useful on the trials. -
Disagree. It puts too many words in your mouth for one. It also seemed to decide that we needed an 8-man team to defeat Positron, even though the TF requires four to start, and since there were only five of us three of us got cloned. So it's broken, and makes you out as a generic trash-talking villain, and is therefore not awesome in my book.
Quote:Remember how long it took to get to 50, then get all your IOs in place after that? All that hard work and expense? Well, Marauder can beat you and your whole team of 50s with a single punch just by drinking a beer first.
And am I the only one who reads Mother's hyphens as- -talking- -like- -Shatner? -
Quote:On a similar note, do away with flashing graphical effects, like that Electric Control ground patch thing and the temp power in the LGTF. They hurt my eyes.2. Tone down or do away with any sound effects which use high-pitched screams, squeals, or rings, especially in the foreground. Many of us play wearing headphones and earbuds, and some of the people playing are sensitive to high-pitched noise (myself among them). Peacebringers and Gravity toons both regularly emit sounds that ride just shy of the threshold for inducing physical pain.

Quote:Yeah, I ran some trials. Then I got tired of running trials. So I paid for my iXP. Dumb? Maybe. I dunno, I think I'd be dumber to run trials I'm tired of again and again just for another 10% iXP toward a power I can have now without ever running another trial.I'd agree that paying for the iXP is kind of dumb. It's so quick to run through a few trials to get them that it's almost pointless to have that option. It was clearly put in as a concession to all those "soloers" out there. But this thread has nothing to do with iXP.

Quote:People who can and want to solo these things are a minority, and probably always will be. I doubt they would have any significant impact on people who wish to team for them, any more than setting minimum team sizes to four is discouraging people from filling the team. Not that I don't like the idea, but... wouldn't this make things a bit harder for those people playing characters that can only do a TF as part of a team to find a good team to join?
I think most of the people who would be soloing TFs are people who either can't commit to a team, so they wouldn't be joining team TFs anyway, or who want the challenge, so they wouldn't bother running the TF with a team. The number of potential teammates who would go solo the TF if the option existed is probably not that significant. -
Editing during peak hours or in busy zones seems to make it worse. But going to Kings Row on a Wednesday morning doesn't necessarily make it go away. I've also noticed more problems with bigger file sizes.

Eh, what the heck.
Build: DM/SD
Price: Stupid
Goals: Softcapped defenses with a bit of a buffer in case of debuffs, good DDR, Perma-hasten, good HP, good accuracy.
Weaknesses: Resistance isn't as high as I'd like.
Incarnate: Alpha Spiritual Core Paragon, Void Radial Judgement, Reactive Radial Interface, Rebirth Invocation (aiming for +regen tree). Lore can suck it.

Yes, I'm examining all those crates in all their meticulous detail every time I run face-first into them because I'm lagging so badly. I've also conducted a detailed inspection of the floor when I ran right into a War Walker's kneecaps. It's nice. Oooh, and you made sure to have the lights turned up so we can see everything, or go blind, I'm not sure which was the intent there.

Quote:If you have high global recharge, putting Practiced Brawler on autofire is detrimental in most content. Conversely, if you have low global recharge, putting Hasten on autofire can be detrimental. Nothing is designed to be autofired. Autofire is a convenience. And I like the costs just as they are, thank you very much.Fair enough, I just don't like how they're pretty much designed to be autofired though. I really think they'd be much more fun and interesting as something that can be turned on permanently out-of-the-box (with costs to compensate) or something that can only be flipped on in emergencies or before big fights. Right now they're somewhere between the two and it doesn't suit my tastes.

Quote:Aside from the Cavern of Transcendence, where simultaneous clicking is the whole trial, I can't think of a single task force or mission that uses this outdated mechanic that would be any worse off if it were removed. In principle, I'm all for eliminating minimum team sizes on task forces so long as there is fair warning and an enforcement of literal minimums (if there's a mission with four simultaneous blinkies, the minimum has to be four).
The Sewer Trial probably falls in the category of "might as well have a literal minimum" though. Now I eagerly await the announcement that someone has soloed the sewer trial.
Quote:However, as a practical matter there are a lot of players who believe that if the devs allow it they condone it, and if they condone it they should make it accessible. Meaning: if you allow two people to start Numina, people will complain two people can't finish it successfully. They'll say there should be a switch to downscale everything including the AVs to just the right level of difficulty to make their duo able to finish it: that it should be tuned for them, because they represent the "normal" players and not the "power gamers."
Unlike the Barracuda TF, which is very likely to not be completable with a team of the minimum size and lacking the right ATs, and you don't even get a warning about that. -
Quote:Hasten isn't perma without a lot of global recharge. Practiced Brawler can be stacked so you don't get held by stuff like Master Illusionists, who can easily stack holds that ignore positional defense. If it were made a toggle, it would also cost a lot more end than it does now.I'd rather they make some of the popular auto-fire powers (practiced brawler, hasten, whatever) into toggles instead. The whole auto-fire mechanic annoys the heck out of me.
Every time you get annoyed by having to click Practiced Brawler in a set that is otherwise entirely fire and forget, go roll a Regen. Click away. Now come back to Super Reflexes. Still annoyed? Try Willpower instead. -
Speed doesn't need to be encouraged. The repetitive nature of the trials already encourages "let's get this done as fast as possible" play.
Completing MO objectives should be encouraged. The MO objectives for Lambda need to be rethought, so people don't have to make the trial significantly harder in order to achieve them, and so none of them are mutually exclusive. Completing MO objectives could lead to a better reward table for the whole league.
A "bare minimum" activity threshold would be fine. Time spent dead could also count against individual players' reward tables, beyond, say, a 30-second window to allow teammates time to use Vengeance and/or rez you. After that, you hosp or your reward goes down. Beyond that though, any effect of participation on the end reward should be league-wide. -
Add "League window buff display" options.
Add a "show only buffs from self" option to the buff displays. This would help buffing characters, since everybody is running a million toggles and I can't tell at a glance if your Speed Boost has expired and I need to refresh it. The icons also take up half the screen.
Add various power effect suppression settings so low-end systems don't have to render every single power activating every single time. This becomes insane in a full league.
Stop resetting my League window to vertical every time I join a league. I like it horizontal. Keep it that way.
Another thousand votes for fixing the "Hide useful salvage warning" option. I polled some of my friends, and they polled their friends, and we all agreed it's annoying. Well, ok, I didn't, but I'm sure they would.
And #6 because I'm contrary: Add an "abandoned lab" near the market in Kings Row, and a lab near the market in Talos. Or add a Market in Founders' Falls. -
At one point they changed the minimum spawn size of Task Forces to match the minimum number of players required to start. Players complained about this, since too many people quitting could make the TF much longer and more tedious for the people who were left, especially on longer Task Forces which had a greater chance of quitters. So they changed it so TFs now scale to the number of people left on the team, whether they're logged in or not (I believe this was around the time inventions were introduced, and there was concern that people would form a TF, log off, let one person solo it, and log back in for the final mission.)

Quote:The Vanguard security officer calls her over to check credentials she doesn't even need anymore, since they'll let anyone in. And what happens when the Rikti invade right in front of him? He stands there, asking to check people's credentials. Bureaucrats.EDIT: And to throw my hat into the game-writing-breaking-my-character ring, my blueside Widow, an escaped experiment who isn't even a licensed hero, avoids red tape, checkpoints, and all that by means of psychically making people ignore her - but still, the Vanguard security officer calls her over to check those credentials she doesn't have. Herp. No real point, just think it's a little bit funny.
-
I assumed that was a given. They'd still be "intended for teams," but it's been demonstrated time and time again that people can run them with far less than the minimum team size, so why make people looking for a challenge jump through a bunch of hoops to get it?
-
Even if they are made soloable, (or duoable, since TFs will end if there's only one person left) most people will still team for them. After all, the minimum team size for the ITF is 6, and people usually fill the team anyway.
Free the TFs!!! -
Quote:A contact using poor grammar is justified if it's in-character for the contact to do so. Roy Cooling maybe not so much, since he's important, and therefore presumably reasonably educated. I would expect some mangled grammar from someone like Dean McArthur, and that's perfectly fine; it's even a good thing. This is something I caught pretty much two sentences into Roy Cooling's arc the first time I played it. However, not being a native speaker, I try not to ***** about awkward grammar and curious sentence structure and word order. Chances are "some people just talk like that" and I haven't heard it, and that's just not an argument I want to start, since I'm badly unprepared for it.
Tip missions don't come from a contact though. They come from a "disembodied narrator," and as such should be grammatically correct. And whatever the source, there is no excuse for numerous spelling errors making it to the live servers. -
Because they're hoping to strike in the middle of a costume contest and catch all the heroes with their toggles down.
City Hall and the Atlas statue are iconic landmarks. The statues in Galaxy are just more statues. They're everywhere in this city. Besides, BaBs is in Galaxy, and he'd be all like, "not on my watch, pal." Atlas has Ms. Liberty, who is easily distracted by the mention of grandpa's tiff with his college roommate.
