*nonsensical and barely on-topic wall of text with minimal punctuation and no capitalization and poor spelling and grammar predicting the death of the game and blaming it on a segment or segments of the playerbase that enjoy activities I don't enjoy and making unfounded comparisons between the developer team's recent decisions and something jack may or may not have said and repeatedly referring to a competing game which is never explicitly mentioned by name but described in sufficient detail that everyone knows which game I'm referring to.

Last month was all low-mid level TFs, until the Eden trial was swapped out for LGTF because it was bugged. This month, my 50s who don't exemp well can finally get some notices and people who need Alpha components can get some as well.

Quote:Hurt someone's feelings? How is it hurtful to say "hey, that is a really awesome jacket you designed and I want my female characters to be able to wear it too"? The vast majority of my characters are female, so I'm automatically being given fewer choices. The vast majority of my husband's characters are male, so he's automatically being given fewer choices. We're not the only ones who predominantly play one gender.I don't think it needs to be talked into the ground, I think the sexism is really pretty obvious, some people mind, some don't. People who want the jackets for females should be comfortable letting the devs know that. Don't worry that you'll hurt someone's feelings, we're all grownups here and this is what feedback threads are for. If the devs can tell we'd like these jackets, then they'll make them. This is one of those beautiful issues where you can be desirous of something cool /and/ help make the world an infinitesimally better place for young women to grow up in.
And there is no excuse for not making the "occult" pattern available for female magic capes. I haven't checked in a while, but isn't the "long cape" option also unavailable with the high collar for female models? -
*beginning of completely off-topic tangent that vaguely referrences an item in the OP's list.

Quote:I also really dislike that so many of the newer costume pieces are so conceptually limiting. Conceptually limited pieces are what booster packs are for, true, but costume pieces ported from NPCs are often even more limiting, and that's what mostly made up the last batch of free new costume options.I agree. I really dislike costume pieces that can't be color or texture matched except to other pieces in the same set. Especially when it the turns out that the set is missing gloves and boots.
I also dislike that so many sets have a textured "boots" or "gloves" piece but no texture for smooth boots or gloves. The shapes of many of the boots are frankly unattractive, and the bulky gloves can't be work with sleeves and clip with shields. -

Quote:Oh right, because everyone who doesn't like something is always insisting it get ripped out of the game. It's not like there's a set quota of complaining they must do before the devs go "Wow, 7 people really don't like raids, I guess we'll just rip that out of the game entirely and waste years of development time to give them more solo story arcs they can solo in an afternoon." But that won't stop the vocal minority from trying to reach that mythical quota in their heads.
It's not like there's a set quota of thinly veiled troll posts the "shut up and raid" crowd must do before people who don't like the raid grind stop asking for alternatives either. In fact, that vocal minority only makes the other side more vocal. Although lately it seems like the real minority is the "well I like raids, I understand that some people don't like them and I hope they get an alternative, but I personally like them" crowd. -
Quote:And we're tired of people complaining about our complaining. See the pattern?Or it could be that we're really tired of this argument, we're tired of umpteen threads being created and even more being hijacked, and it's long past time to move on.
Quote:Plus, it rubs me the wrong way that it's taking some cheap shots at people who are working extremely hard to make this a cool game. -
Yeah, some arcs are apparently not broken enough by the filter to be unstartable, but broken enough that you get this bug when you try to actually play it. Unfortunately, since you can start it, you can rate it. Queue complaints from people whose invalid arcs have been ratings-bombed.
The workaround would apparently be to try to find the offending words and change them. Good luck with that. -

How dare you guys level the slightest bit of criticism toward the trials? You should be running trials! The ultimate arbiters of humor and acceptable forum behavior -can- -not- -allow- -this- -travesty- -to- -continue. Now back to the grind with you, citizen!

Quote:No, most straight pick-up joints are like that. The women are there to be looked at, the men are there to do the looking. The gay bar down the street does not have such rules, in fact they don't care if guys take their shirts off. Neither did any of the more alternative clubs I've been to. The fact is, a lot of clubs have a vested interest in enforcing the double standard. They don't want women to see something they like, the want guys to see something they like and then buy the girl drinks. If a woman sees something she likes, then the guy won't have to buy her drinks now will he?I think most urban clubs are like that, the one I used to be a bouncer for had similar rules, no tank tops, but if you wore t-shirts, it couldn't be those plain white ones.
None of which is relevant to a game. We have no drinks to buy so why are our female characters constantly given costume pieces that expose as much skin as possible, and incidentally look best when worn with other pieces from the same set, because otherwise they cut off at the waist and look odd (Witch pieces, I'm looking at you) while guys get cool jackets that go with everything? -
-
True story: A male friend of mine was asked not to wear a tank top to a club by the staff. Said club doesn't have a formal dress code, and lots of guys wear t-shirts and jeans. The women, of course, wear far less.
-
A new piece of stupid: The word "things" is invalid for use in an arc title. But "thing" is ok. Apparently the devs thought the Ben Grimm Clone Saga was so terrible they didn't want anyone inadvertently reminding people of it through the mission architect.

Did they switch the Glad Armor and Shield Wall uniques or something? I would expect the Glad Armor to be among the most expensive ones.

Quote:I think I have sufficient knowledge of game mechanics to tell the difference between "an enemy my character is weak against" and "a poorly designed enemy." When everything has Dark Blast/Dark Miasma/Dark Melee/Dark something, if you're not softcapped it'll floor your to-hit. When everything has electric powers, if you're not soft-capped or Electric Armor you will have no endurance. When everything has a to-hit and damage buff, the alpha strike can obliterate squishies. Enemies with a load of resistance or damage debuff powers will be tedious no matter what you're playing. And so on and so forth. There's a difference between that and "this psi-heavy group is problematic for my Invul" or "this energy damage heavy group is problematic for my Dark Armor."To be fair, however, there are many dev-created groups that mop the floor with some ATs and powersets. My shield tanker can have serious problems with large spawns of Nemesis and Devouring Earth, but my Fire tanker doesn't bat an eyelash. That same Fire tanker gets creamed by Carnies, but my /Electric brute doesn't. Stalkers often have problems with Rikti because of the drones, and squishies have problems with them because of all the mezzes. Melee characters despise Knives of Artemis, but blasters, corruptors and defenders can often melt them like butter.
The other thing is that many players just don't understand how best to counter the powers that custom characters have. They're often not even sure what killed them. It takes a long time to figure out the standard enemy groups and the best tactics against them; custom groups open up a whole new can of worms. -
Quote:The first thing that popped out at me was how flat the Electric one looks. It needs more color variation, methinks. For that matter, I'd love to hear everyone's feedback on the 20.5 auras, especially the path auras. It's the first time we've released a big batch of these, so I'd like to know your reaction to them.
Also, a lot of the auras are very very heavy, such as Pixels, the cloud trail aura, Magnetic....considering I'm firmly in the "the game has too many FX already" camp, you can imagine how I feel about that.... -
Quote:Yep, guys get badass pieces and girls get sexy pieces. What was the title of the thread again? The only logic I can see there is "each bodytype should get a similar amount of stuff in each pack". So if female models are getting sexy witch leathers and male/huge models are getting badass occult coats, then everyone is getting about the same amount of stuff. But if you give the badass occult coats to the female models then suddenly the female models are getting two things, and that's unfair. And you can't give sexy witch leathers to the male and huge outfits, because that would be gay. So females only get the sexy witch leathers and nothing else.
Now granted, the corsets in the Steampunk pack are pretty sweet and there has been demand for a proper corset costume piece probably since the first female hero set foot in Peregrine Island, saw a Carnie and said "OMG those corset outfits are awesome I WANT ONE!!!!" But why do women get the little bolero jackets instead of proper jackets? If I want to look at animated boobs so badly I can run another BAF. Meanwhile, some of my female characters are getting cold and want to cover up. -
Quote:Yeah and so are a lot of people. Most of whom don't crossdress. Yay, stereotyping!I was privy to some developers thought processes both publicly and privately as to why the gender-specific choices were made. Not once was it because of developer resource limitations. The reasons given ranged from 'it's gay'
Quote:'men don't wear that'
Quote:'fear of prostitution harems'
Quote:'cross-gender dressing is beyond the pale of the T rating' (but poisoning children into blindness is within bounds).

Quote:I think the "Work in Progress" tag was introduced at the same time as all the new testing tools....still, you do have to actually play through to test difficulty, preferably with multiple characters, which is the one thing I suspect a lot of people don't bother with, judging by all the poorly designed custom groups out there. One reason for people publishing to test is that when the AE was first released there were no testing tools. No invis mode, no invincible mode, no insta-defeat target, no insta-complete mission and no cycling through. Players had to test missions the long way. The only thing test mode did was prevent debt, however this comes at the expense of earning zero XP, inf, inspirations or tickets.

Quote:He's starting a new thread to discuss an ongoing problem, in a separate area that rednames spend a hell of a lot more time in than they do in the area that pertains to the problem. So, you're starting a new thread to discuss an ongoing thread, in a separate area from where the ongoing thread that pertains to the problem is correctly located?
Note how quickly the Eden Trial was first replaced as WST, then fixed so it will allow people over level 41 to start it. Any bets on which week in June it will be WST? If people working toward Incarnate goodies experience an inconvenience (after all, the trial was still doable, you just needed someone of the right level to start it...or you could go Vigilante and do Ice Mistral) it's immediately fixed, but a major inconvenience that renders large chunks of a feature unusable due to an undocumented and unnecessary "fix" is allowed to go on and on for months because when you're playing AE you're not grinding trials, citizen! -
I have 6. I rarely save costumes. Three of those are for characters I put into AE arcs, one is my main so I can get the sliders right if I recreate her or one of her clones on another server, and two are from rerolls.
On the other hand, I have 78 Custom Critters saved, and I actually try to keep that folder from getting too cluttered.
