Quote:Fixed it for you.Wait, the lore is contradictory?! Oh no, that's totally... expected, really.
I'm trying to think of a good reason to not make BaBs a member of the Freedom Phalanx. The only one I can think of is that he is too bad*** for them, and is planning on starting his own supergroup with Blue Steel and Crimson. -
I'm inclined to trust Doctor Aeon (the NPC) on lore over the devs right about now.
-
I don't understand. How is it a red herring? The badge specifically states "Some see their discovery of Primal Earth's dimension as inevitable; a "coming storm" which could rival the Rikti Invasion in destructive potential." Some people do think the coming storm is Rularuu, so it's more of a meta reference than anything. It's also a case of Did Not Do The Research since the Rularuu have already discovered Primal Earth. I will add it to The List.

Quote:Yes, Atlas Park on Freedom is like PI was on Freedom before AE. The difference is that you're done with Atlas Park by level 5, whereas you're stuck in PI from level 40 onward. That might be the case on Virtue, but I'm on Freedom. You see on average 10 farm request per minute and every time you enter or exit a door, you have to wait 10-15 seconds before you can move.
Quote:As far as ignoring people go, you're missing the point entirely. By doing that, I am basically turning CoH into a single player game, because NO ONE ever leaves Atlas Park. All they do is stay there and farm. Unless it's an Incarnate Trial, which may I reminds you is level 50, you are not likely to EVER find a team outside of the AE in Atlas. -
Quote:My point is that he is often disparaged, for various reasons, yet the same people who disparage him are often the first to play the "comics do it so this game should too" card. Not everything that comics do is a good idea. A game inspired by superhero comics can evoke the feel of superhero comics while keeping the good and tossing the bad.Having just evoked Rob Leifeld a page or so back myself, I'm not quite understanding your using him here. Anything that he ever did in comics is bad and must not be repeated? I'm truly not getting what you mean to say.
I can assure you that Rob Leifeld was not the first to draw disproportionate anatomy and he didn't invent big boobs in comics. While I personally did not really like his art at the time, his stylized approach was really just part of a trend of the 1990's - he was just arguably one of the more ridiculous offenders and has become the quintessential boogeyman. I'm not really up on comics enough these days to comment on what his lasting impact might have been but it does seem to me like the stylized approach to characters remains firmly represented in the industry.
Quote:My take - and I don't think that you and I are going to see eye to eye - is that a game about superheroes just might attract a few fans of the main media in which superheroes appear and those fans will have certain expectations. Idealized bodies have been a staple of the genre. I'd never suggest that the game shouldn't allow for normal proportions or that we should never get an overweight body type because they have representation too but, yeah, at least some of the signature heroes should be hotness and if they wear a costume that would just be completely ridiculous in the real world I would feel that is pretty par for the course with the source material.
Quote:Um... Everywhere? The way the "muscle" slider works, it's next to impossibl to make a muscular woman who does NOT have a giant butt and huge thighs. That's because it's less a "muscle" slider and more an "assets" slider, as it makes women's breasts and butts bigger, but neglects to make their arms bigger or their chests (as in the rib cage) much more solid. I've had to jam the hips slider all the way to the left an the waist slider all the way to the right just to keep a stout woman's butt from looking like a semi-trailer.
Quote:You know who WOULD look more capable to me than BOTH of those options, though? The seven-foot-tall woman in blue jeans, steel-toed boots and a tiny workout top with arms like pipes and abs like a washboard. That I could understand and would actually perceive as being strong. So where is THAT in the game, outside of my own making? -
Quote:I also guarantee you that that caveman liked big butts and he could not lie. So where are these big butts, if we're just acting out biological imperatives by shoving large-chested virtual women into skimpy outfits? This really isn't directed at the quoted poster as YMMV is acknowledged but I guess what bugs me the most about these kinds of discussions is the relative (and sometimes willful) ignorance of who we are as a species. I'm not trying to be dismissive when I say that City of Heroes didn't invent boobies or skimpy costumes of cheesecake superheroines. It isn't Modern Media or a product of a sex-obsessed culture - I guarantee you about five seconds after the first caveman invented art, he was trying to draw a set of no-no's doing the nasty.
Quote:As it relates to CoX, complaining about T & A in a game that emulates superheroic comic fiction strikes me as not too far off complaining that Baskin-Robbins sells ice cream. This isn't some hallmark of our declining society for all you Werthams out there. This is what comics have been from the very beginning. If you really find it untenable, why not check out some of the Lego games instead? You'll love them - everyone is flat-chested. -
AE features. Because AE is a total mess with practically no dev support, and I refuse to pay for something that's just going to break in a few months, if it even works properly in the first place. Paying for add-ons implies that you approve of the way the base product is being handled, and it's pretty obvious by now that I don't. It would also be yet another excuse to not actually fix any of the problems.
Full power customization.
Badges.
The ability to solo or duo Task Forces. -
Doesn't Hess also have a simu-clicky? Of course the solution to this is simple: remove the simultaneous clickies. They're dumb. If you really want to challenge your team's ability to all click at once there's still the Cavern of Recall Friend.

Quote:Bolded for emphasis. Swan is scantily clad. She is not stacked to the max. Sister Psyche is scantily clad. She is not stacked to the max. Mother Mayhem and Bobcat were also moderately endowed until their redesign. It's especially grating since their Primal counterparts are still moderately endowed. Granted, implants would fit Bobcat's "personality," but still, I can think of absolutely no reason to give her bigger boobs other than sheer pandering. What else am I meant to say? I am perfectly aware that women in real life have larger bust sizes as well as smaller. One of my best friends at Uni is on the larger side, and anyone calling her 'incapable' had better get ready for a severely shortened life of misery, I tell you.
Quote:If they're gonna be big, for the love of frag make them balanced and proportional. Doc Delilah works just fine; She's TALL as hell and looks balanced enough. Ergo, no mass outcry. -
I am, like, totally not surprised that this one was picked and stuff and junk.
It is a fun arc though. Gratz Ronin. -
Quote:Yes, you go ahead and enjoy your arbitrarily imposed and unnecessary limits. I'm pretty sure most of the rest of us will be treating that ***** censorship filter which still includes the word CREY, among other things, as the bug it is and not as a "feature."Way I see it, those who still enjoy stories in AE, like me, like plenty of others, will continue to use it for that. The existence of farms sucks, but they are not going to stop me and won't stop people who want to play good arcs.
(Now, I may run head on into the censorship filter a few times, but I can work within limits. I thrive within limits.)
I only hope that the devs don't take your willingness to throw real money at AE as a sign that everything is a-okay and that the majority of users are happy with the state of AE. They've solved one problem out of dozens, and it's one that affects a minority of users and really could and should have been solved years ago.
Yeah, good luck with that second part. Some of us have been beating that horse for years. -
I don't plan on spending any money (or "money," in the case of the VIP points) on add-ons for a shoddy product with lousy tech support.
-
Quote:Sigh. Those other looks aren't bad in and of themselves, but I cringe every time a female character is "reimagined" with more cleavage and less pants. If all this game's female signature characters start going the way of Boobcat I'm going to complain a lot. It's pretty much to be expected from mainstream comics, but would be a huge step backwards for this game. And, yes, Harley does look a little too TnA service there. But her Arkham Asylum and Arkham City looks? Fits fine IMO.
Except Valkyrie isn't, you know, a Valkyrie. She has tech-based powers and was Positron's sidekick. Tech armor fits her backstory. -
Magic 8-ball says.....don't hold your breath.
They might decide to finally listen to the "take our money" crowd and allow us to purchase more arc slots, but that's about it. Granted, that crowd is getting smaller and smaller, so I wouldn't even count on that. -
Quote:That depends, how much can they charge for an "I win" button? This. Just how easy do we want this game to be, anyway? It's not Progress Quest yet by any stretch, but sometimes it feels that way.
More new soloable content please. Level 30-50 please. Or at the very least remove the minimum team size restrictions from TFs so I can just run them with a few friends who don't think racing to see who gets to nuke the swarm of blue-cons first = fun. It's become pretty obvious to me that the majority of the player base wants an easier game, so at least give me options for not playing with those people. -
Quote:Then I'd say it's a win. Especially when you consider that fishnets snag on everything, then they rip, then they turn into a shredded mess and you have to get new ones, even if you don't have metal claws for fingers...Clamor and Silver Mantis should get together for a sleepover. They can give each other extreme makeovers and talk about boys.Clamor. What's up with the fishnets safetypinned to her legs? I get that she's freakshow, but that's... ugh. And her face looks like she's either a big fan of Hellraiser or she was going in for plastic surgery and then left after they drew some guidelines for the incisions.

I think all the Arachnos patrons and their sidekicks have looks that really suit the characters, except for Ice Mistral. I find her look rather boring. Then again, she's also the one with the least developed and interesting personality.
Numina. It's simple but it works. Same with Back Alley Brawler; an actual costume wouldn't suit the character. Positron has a very iconic power armor look, but only with the helmet on. The rest of the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators look rather boring to me. Sister Psyche has to be the worst out of all of them. The rest of their costumes at least say something about the character wearing them, hers is just generic skimpy spandex.
The Aspects of Rularuu are probably the most visually striking enemies in the game. They look powerful and alien, and yes, it's partly their size.
The Kronos Titan is also freaking sweet. Even more so than the Goliath War Walkers. See, the War Walkers have this sleek futuristic look. Someone went out of their way to make them look nice. The Kronos, as well as the rest of the Titans, are ugly and clunky. They're walking tanks, they don't have to be pretty, they just have to be deadly. Their whole design gives a feeling of weight, that this is just a huge honking war machine set to decimate everything in its path.
Nemesis. I love how his own look carries over to the rest of his army, and even his stuff. It's super-villain arrogance at its finest. A joke he may be, but he's a really sweet-looking joke. The Warhulks especially are nice looking, in that "what....what IS that?" kind of way. -
Custom enemies treat their toggles as autopowers, which means they're always on. The only exception is allied critters, who won't use offensive toggles unless they're the designated helper. I have no idea what's going on there.
-
I think the dev team should run any idea they "fell in love with" by the player base to determine if it actually fits into the game or if it's just being shoehorned in because they're so in love with it they just have to use it. In the case of the CoT revamp, I think it's the latter.
-
Dechs, between this and the OP you have ensured that no one will take the revamped CoT seriously, ever.
-
I wish Statesman and all his analogues would undergo total existence failure, but that's not going to happen, so I guess my second choice would be Fusionette and Faultline and their analogues.
-
I would love this option, and not just for farms. People create plenty of legitimate arcs that I will never ever have any interest in playing.
-
I would kick, but only if they had been warned first. Really, it's not funny anymore, and I'd prefer that no one do it than that a bonehead see everyone else doing it, think it's ok for him to do it, pull Marauder outside and fail the trial.
I would also kick someone at the end of a TF if they had done something they were explicitly told not to do or something unbelievably stupid that would be likely to cause the TF to fail, although that would really only apply to Master runs.
