It isn't, and never mind, it doesn't cause failure in that case. Now if only I could make sure he does escape...

Arch-villain rank with Extreme Super Reflexes. Makes him impossible to hit, he'll resists slows and immobilizes, and Elude will let him run away at 100 mph. Works for Crimson pretty well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I need a specific standard enemy for purposes of the story though. Boss level. So a pretty good chance he can be stopped, even on a tiny map.

And even Crimson can be stopped, I've done it twice, although once was with a /traps Corruptor so that's kind of cheating, and the other time was with a Shivan and temp powers so that's totally cheating.

You cannot make an escort betray on arrival and then have defeating your former-escort a requirement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Probably because escorts can die, and if they do, the required condition will never trigger.
  3. It isn't, and never mind, it doesn't cause failure in that case. Now if only I could make sure he does escape...
  4. If you have a "Defeat all" or "defeat all in final room" and there's a running boss, do you still succeed if he escapes?
  5. A smart villain always has a plan B. And sometimes a plan C and plan D.
  6. The fact that Dark Armor always gets it is particularly annoying, since it's very visible, one of the few powersets that fits a "darkity-dark" themed enemy group (mock all you want, the sheer number of "darkity-dark" characters shows that there are a lot of people who enjoy that kind of stuff), and gives fairly equal resistance to most damage types, unlike the stupid-high smash/lethal resist some armors give.

Meanwhile none of the "invisible" armors give mez protection to minions iirc.

-You cannot have any missions that are not filled with enemies.
(Sounds like it doesnt make much sense to have empty maps, but maybe you want an intermission within an arch where stuff is explained, or search something in a deserted area, or want all enemies to come in as ambushes)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, actually you can. I have played a mission where every spawn was a friendly. The description warned that it would give no rewards and was only to advance the story. This sort of thing is limited to certain maps, but it can be done.
  8. Not everyone is familiar with every powerset. Not everybody knows what that purple halo means, they just think, "Dark armor, cool!" and "Well I can solo this on my blaster, so it must be ok" and hit Publish.

Send feedback, and if they actually care about their arc they'll do something about the problem.

And then suggest to the Devs that they remove Obsidian Shield from Dark Armor for custom critters set on Standard.
  9. (QR)

How about you DON'T force factions to have minions, lts, and bosses please. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for having limited factions, including but not limited to lack of file space.

I hang out at the AE in Kings Row, where there are about five people at any given time and all you see in broadcast is the occasional "lf AE team" or *gasp* "lf radio team." I am therefore completely unaffected by farm spam. Don't go wrecking MY legitimate enjoyment of the MA because YOU can't be bothered to get on a train.
  10. 22) Fake fights. (Where two rival enemy groups are shown swinging at each other, but never damage each other)

    23) Spawn two named bosses together (As in Indigo's first mission, where you have a Crey Power Tank talking to a Malta Gunslinger)

    24) Have named Lieutenants and minions from standard groups as "defeat boss" objectives.

    25) Use the generic heroes and villains from Safeguard and Mayhem missions.

    26) Use Freakshow as allies or captives in a level 50 mission. (Pretty soon we won't be able to use comm officers either.)
  11. Yes, running bosses will cause failure if they make it to the exit, or the elevator, if it's a multi-floor map.
  12. Eva Destruction

    Auto-SK

So with the group you mentioned above, take a standard critter that only exists at mid-30s or higher, add it in somewhere as a non-required boss, captive, or ally, and voila, the minimum range of the mission will be that critter's range and everyone will be SKd up.
  13. Ok, so basically don't use anything except energy assault, dual blades, and regen?

Or, with the variety you have in your custom group, you could mix in one or two "annoying" sets, and let players deal with them...kinda like we somehow managed to deal with those pesky mobs in standard groups for five years. Get some friends to playtest it, and if they think it's too hard, or if you get feedback that it's too hard, change it.

I do think having two minions with WP is too much, those things take a long time to kill.
  14. What if you made a custom enemy group consisting only of family? Would that fix the problem? Or are the critters themselves not set to spawn for heroes?
  15. I have noticed this while playing other people's MA arcs, and then while testing my own: Often while trying to attack a destructible object I get "Invalid Target" until I damage the mobs guarding it. The object still cons as hostile, but I can't attack it. This unfortunately makes placing an unguarded destructible object impossible.

Does this happen only with some destructible objects and not others? Or is it a general problem?
  16. If you're going to use Oranbega, use a map that's either fairly small or fairly linear or both, and make sure there aren't any random portals. At the levels you're looking at, the demon portal room is right out. If Oranbega best fits your arc though, use it.

As for vahz, they'll be right there in your mission description, so if people really hate them that much, they'll just avoid your arc. Again, if they fit the arc, use them.
  17. JSNTS is a tag created by people in the Badge-hunter forums to help them find each others arcs.

    Interpret that as you will.
  18. Purple Triangles of Doom, mostly.
And of course, the AV will be an AV if your team is big enough, while the EB will still be an EB.
  19. I think most people realize that PToDs make soloing even a downgraded AV difficult for dominators and controllers. Mission designers can't do anything about that.
  20. I'm curious as to what people consider a reasonably soloable AV (when downgraded to an EB of course). I'm currently working on a mid-level arc that contains two AVs, one standard and one custom. Of course I'm going to warn about them in the description, but I don't want to turn people off at the prospect of yet another super-overpowered custom AV.

I could solo them both with an SOd Claws/WP Scrapper at the bottom end of the arc's level range, set to Rugged, using two inspirations on one and three on the other--I consider that reasonably soloable. Would I then be justified in labeling my arc "reasonably soloable?"

    Thoughts? What is "reasonably soloable?"
  21. Ok I found out why my standard dudes were barely appearing. I am dumb. It's because I was exemped. When I ran it on a character at the low end of the level range the standard critters showed up fairly regularly, although there still seemed to be a slight preference in favor of my custom critters.
  22. I for one would like a cool shiny new item for the hologram and mission door thingy. Mostly because I'm one of those base designer obsessives, so a new item would 1) give me a shiny new item to design around and 2) wouldn't force me to redesign the base for easy access between mission computer and raid teleporter.

    Otherwise, /signed.

    Stumped.

Oh, I love patrols. They add flavor to a mission. I just don't like having to kill them. I especially don't like having to double back and run all the way through a map again because it's a defeat all and some patrol slipped past me. Also, they tend to get stuck in weird places.
  24. Eva Destruction

    Stumped.

Oh and if I see "Defeat All" and "Patrol" in the same description...just don't.
  25. For me, it's been frustrating, trying to work within the constraints of the system. I'm trying to give the player a feel for what's going on without spelling it all out for them, and that's tough.

I want to show villain groups at odds with each other. Battles are inadequate, since they trigger from too far away and are usually over before you get there. I want triggered nav bar objectives. (The blinky is there, if you find it, but you don't know to look for it until the captive drops a hint). I want to be able to use lieutenants and minions from standard groups as "boss" spawns, so they can talk, and emote, and do stuff other than wait to get killed.

I also want my husband to stop saying "Are you STILL not done that arc?"
