  1. Do captives or combat-incapable escorts (those using a civilian model or a "person" class custom) cause an xp reduction as well? Since allied bosses and the allied side in a battle do, I'm guessing the quick "fix" was to tie the reduction to any objective set to "allied."

    I am with you.

Then reverse some of the more ham-handed changes, such as the custom critter XP reduction and the massive reduction in rewards for minion-only or minion-and-lieutenant-only custom groups. And the draconic ticket caps that you could exceed on some maps even on the old Unyielding. And of course this latest moronic "fix" to a loophole that has existed since AE was implemented but of course had to be fixed RITE NAO, while most of the player base is unable to even test it and those that are able are busy testing the new shiny.

Then we can have the old, i14 AE, and anyone that abuses it will be banned with hatred and fire (I would even go so far as to suggest napalm) and we don't have to look at their lame outdated farms clogging up our search engine.

They should not. They should be banned from publishing missions, like Positron said would happen.

Players that chose to do this do not care about "lolRPers," or for that matter anyone else. The devs should realize by now that a small but visible sub-section of the playerbase will use any loophole, shortcut, or flat-out exploit to earn the maximum amount of rewards possible in the shortest amount of time, and punish those players. The exploit, shortcut or loophole should be closed with the minimum amount of impact to those who don't use it, like they do with any exploit that doesn't involve AE.

Surprise surprise. Another ham-handed, poorly thought out and poorly tested (if at all) AE "fix" isn't working in any logical or consistent fashion. I'm sure as time goes on we will see more problems cropping up due to this "fix."

But hey, we'll be getting the fashion show map in i17, so they still care, right?

As the rewards for playing the arcs fall to various exploit fixes, anyone that's still writing things that draw people in is likely adding some good content to the game. Maybe it's time to give people a better reason to want a bunch of good reviews.
Part of the reward (well in my case the entire reward) is having people actually play something you create. Giving people less and less incentive to play your content is just punishing legitimate authors further.

People who want to actually add content to the game get rewarded by:

    - Having to constantly retool their perfectly good arcs every time something breaks.
    - Having to constantly retool their perfectly good arcs every time something is changed to fix some exploit.
    - A horrible search engine that pretty much ensures most of our arcs will never be played.
    - A horrible rating system that gives too much weight to the "opinion" of anyone with three seconds to spare and the desire to click "Play" and click one star, thereby relegating something someone put a lot of effort into back to the depths of said horrible search engine, behind farm after farm and that arc some guy slapped together and got his friend to 5-star.
    - A reduced player base for said arcs that a lot of effort is put into because players increasingly have to choose between playing through something new, interesting, and well-written, and getting half-decent rewards.
  6. The exploit has been fixed. And the peasants rejoice. Until the next exploit comes along.

And the AE has further been irrevocably broken for those few players that are still desperately fighting an uphill battle, and trying to use it as intended.

Here is the fix to all the AE farming: Any player who publishes a farm is banned from publishing or playing missions in AE. Done. You can't play nice, you don't play. Stop throwing in ham-handed fixes and driving away the few actual authors and players that are left in AE and giving the stubborn hold-outs even less of a reason to bother.
  7. If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be doing it.
  8. Ongoing projects:
IO out all my 50s. Not necessarily purple them all out, but at least get a decent IO buid for all of them. Currently working on my SS/Invul Brute, who does get purples.

Get one of every Blaster set to 50. Recently accomplished Archery and Devices, now I'm just missing Psi, /MM, Rad blast, and Dual Pistols.

Finally finish and publish one of the three MA arcs I've been picking at for months.
  9. Malta. Not only are they fun to fight (by "fun" I mean "screw up and you're dead") but they are one of the few enemy groups that are actually, from a story perspective, scary as all hell.

My other favorite is the Rularuu. They look so cool, in a totally creepy "things that should not be" kind of way, plus, you know, they're the minions of a guy who wants to eat our dimension. Again, actually scary.
  10. You could use an abandoned warehouse or abandoned office map to represent a Scrapyarder hideout. That's what the canon Scrapyarder missions generally use.

Or wait for i17 open beta and see if one of the existing outdoor Sharkhead maps is added to MA.

You also make better xp teaming than solo. So as far as inf/level it's pretty much a wash.

I was talking about leveling WITH marketing drops, but not doing anything else with the market (so no flipping or crafting for profit, etc). Even trying to get the best price for your drops, redside low-level stuff just doesn't sell for very much.

Once you get into mid-range salvage a single rare can pretty much put you above the "can't afford my SOs" poverty line, but before that, it is entirely possible to use the market in a "casual" way and still be "poor."

If you exclusively team, and do not do market stuff aside from selling your drops, redside you can easily get to 22 and not be able to afford all your SOs.

    The team drop rate sucks.
  15. Debuffs on anything less than a boss, unless your group is very diverse. They will stack up and make life annoying for teams and people playing on high difficulties.

Fire Armor on bosses and higher. It gives insanely high fire resistance even on Standard, making these enemies difficult, if not impossible for people who rely on fire damage to take down. It also has mez protection on Standard, which leads to....

Mez protection toggles. This makes Doms, Controllers, and anyone else who relies on mezzing for mitigation hate you.

Tier 9s (Unstoppable, etc) on anything other than a Unique boss who has it for thematic reasons. Instant Healing on anything.
  16. 1: Lack of end-game content. The devs put in all these shiny IOs for level 50s to chase, but there isn't much content for us to use to chase these shinies. I realize this game is about the journey, but there should be more to do once you've made that journey a few times.

2: Merge the markets. That is all. The journey is less fun when you can't get the stuff that makes it more fun because there is no one selling.

3: Old, half-finished content is abandoned rather than being expanded upon. I would rather have more Shadow Shard or Dark Astoria content than another new zone full of <insert shiny new enemy that will be either farmed or avoided entirely>.
  17. Make Vanguard start accepting bribes for merits. A completely optional inf sink that I'm sure some people will use.

Not that a slider fee would impact me at all- I didn't know it was gone until I read this thread.

But IMHO it's philosophically cleaner to attach it to completely optional, ideally frivolous things.
I agree. The only reason I suggested adding a fee to the new slider was because the old one had a fee.

The problem with using badges and costume pieces as an inf sink is that for a lot of people those ARE a core part of the game, and since they would be a one-time inf sink, in order for it to be in any way meaningful the cost would have to be so high as to be out of reach for many of the people who consider such things essential.
  19. We need inf sinks that aren't badges or costumes. The people who "have to have" badges or costume pieces aren't always the ones with a gazillion inf to blow on this stuff. Meanwhile there are people farming up ludicrous amounts of inf with names like I Kill Stuff, hardly any badges, and unimaginative costumes. Those are the people that inf sinks should target.

I would suggest putting back the fee for changing your difficulty. Add a fee for e-mailing inf or items (a flat fee for items, just to keep it simple, a percentage for inf.) More buyable temp powers of the convenience variety. Stuff that isn't "necessary" for anyone, but useful for everyone.

Isn't listing it for 1 inf pretty much the same thing? The only downside is that it ties up a market slot for an hour or so, upside is that you get badge credit.

I never saw oversupply as a problem, as a buyer or a seller. Who is it a problem for exactly?

Of course if you don't think we need infamy/infl sinks, then this argument falls on deaf ears.
They won't be forced to pay the fee either way. If you're transferring large amounts, you can always get a trusted friend to help you do the transfer, like people with a single account do now.

I am hoping there will be a fee. QoL things like this are a great place to implement inf sinks with minimal complaining.

  24. Best New Arc:

1: Drakule vs. the Werewolf Bikers from Hell.
2: Hammer and Sickle of Paragon City.
  25. I would like to see more done with the Knives of Artemis, both in terms of expanding their story and just adding more variety to the group itself. Caltrop spam gets annoying, and you get some tantalizing hints that they are more than just a bunch of hired swords for Malta, but not much beyond that.
