  1. It's an update on Real World Hero!

    http://realworldhero.com/dedicated-2...m-roguesradio/

The auction has about 7 hours left to go, and there's been a few bids. One for Terra, one for Phoenix and - at time of writing there's a few bids for a Rosie and Coin Show. A dual set from the husband and wife team... fantastic idea!!

Time is running out, so please bid on one of the DJs, get your own 2 hour show and donate to charity. It's for a very good set of causes.
  2. Yay for Notty - our first non-UK European DJ! I think we need more of them...

Simply put, you get to choose from a list of DJ's, choose all the songs they play and can even appear on the show with them! (technology permitting)

Just imagine the chance to chat away with Rosie, discuss the finer points of Queen with Escalus, chill out with DJ Phoenix, laugh it up with DJ Star, drool at Terrahawks sexy voice or even get me, DJ Coin.....to play 2 hours of Muse! (please, please, don't!! )

You might even get the chance to appear on the Fishy and Knighty show and be immortalized forever on the internet in their Podcasts!

Simply visit the page for the prize and make your bid! Highest bid wins the chance!

    So, who's feeling brave?

  4. After a couple of successful trials, with announcments on my show and in-game, I'm pleased to announce a new feature for my show:

    The Esc-Cam: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/dj-esc...n-rogues-radio

While I am broadcasting my show, you can look at the channel and see me doing my DJ stuff (after a brief advert, it's a free service after all), and yes, it would be quite boring if you watched me for two/three hours straight as I am sat at a desk doing slightly mundane things - typing, talking, eating, drinking, chair dancing - but it will give you an insight in to the life of a DJ, so if you're tuned in on a Thursday between 10-12 or whatever time I finish, come and have a look at the Esc-Cam!

I'm trying to get the idea rolled out to the other RR DJs so they can have show cams as well. I suspect that the Coin-Cam would be very popular!
  5. Escalus

    Mr ? no more

    So not Mr Carliwen then?
  6. I don't think one of my shows has finished at 12 since the very early shows, and even then it was about ten past! If I didn't have to work, it could go on much later!

DJ Knightingale and myself (The Fish) have been doing this comedy/chat show at www.roguesradio.com for 7 weeks now every Wednesday night from 8pm (UK time) and it looks like we MAY be becoming a little more pro.

I am pleased to announce that The Fishy and Knighty Show is now available as podcasts.

A HUGE ty to my mate John from evcthosting over there in the States who donated a website for us to host them on

Not only can you download the podcast from this site but you can also just press play and listen to it there and then.

    http://www.fishyandknighty.co.cc

We have set up an account with iTunes but it sometimes takes a while for them to verify it. Please feel free to search iTunes though for the show.

    Any feed back is appreciated
I was speaking with a friend of mine on Facebook and they checked out Rogues Radio via the links I post everyweek, and they found the podcasts, downloaded them and loved them! They've also tuned in to a few of the shows other than the Fishy and Knighty show and been impressed with the music as well, but the podcasts are a great addition.

All I have to do now is convince them that City of Heroes is more fun than WoW... I did get them to download the trial version so am working on it.
  8. I caught another of Torm's shows on Sunday evening - an impromptu set for those who hadn't heard his other one - and I really enjoyed it.
He played this really cool rock opera and I know that the listeners trailed off a bit, as he did start at 12.30am but it was great to listen to.

With a bit of luck, he'll get more listeners and if you're visiting the EU Lounge from the US playerbase, I'd recommend you tune in and give him your support.
  9. Riff's jazz set was excellent and if you missed it, you missed out - the feedback was very positive and I enjoyed it loads.

Hopefully he'll be doing more guest shows for us in the future.

Want to know who this special guest is? Tune in to Mrs ?'s show tonight, she'll be making the big announcement at 9pm UK time!

Feel free to make your guesses here, will be interesting to see who gets it right
    Dave Lee Travis!!
  11. It's always good to give players a choice of radio station. I was thinking that when you were on Defiant on Saturday, as you were playing more of a dance music set and Coin was doing his rock show on Rogues Radio - something for everybody!

I can't say I'll be tuned in tonight, as Monday is one of our best nights on RR, but good luck!
  12. To be honest, Max, I don't know! I know the more the merrier, so have a try - it may let you in, or if it won't let you in it's because the league has started. You can but try!
  13. The more the merrier - there's three and a bit days to go to sign up and join in.

There's 8 of us so far in the most points wins league and 5 in the one on one competiton, which is great but would be better if we had more!

  15. It is cool to see the info on the loader.

I know Coin and Rosie have probably thanked Avatea for all her support, but I don't think it will hurt to echo those sentiments here as well.
  16. It was a good set, and a triumphant return after the technical troubles the other month - is good to have you back.

In other news, there's only a few days left to cast your vote in Theme Night III to choose the artist of the evening from Meat Loaf, ELO, Brian May. Billy Joel and Phil Collins - the leader is only a view votes ahead so it can all change, but that's up to you! http://roguesradio.com/forum/viewtop...&t=273&start=0

We're also close to announcing the result of the Rogues Radio Logo competition, so keep your eye on this thread and, of course, the Rogues Radio website!

Finally, I've edited the schedule that was added earlier in this thread to include all the new trial DJ's we have:
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...1&postcount=32
  17. A little while ago I announced the inaugural Rogues Radio Fantasy Premier League Football competition here:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...9&postcount=36

After a little chat with Coin, there will be a prize - A Rogues Radio Cup! If you haven't joined the contest, there's still time and now you can win stuff!
  18. The quality of the show was indeed improved by the guests.
  19. I'll join in - we also have a few leagues set up for Rogues Radio (see the post on the Rogues Radio thread http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...9&postcount=36 if you feel like signing up there as well.
  20. It's that time of year again where our thoughts turn to Fantasy Football.

Fantasy Premier League Football is a massively multiplayer online game where you RP as a football manager. An MMORPG and we cater for all MMORPGs. I might be stretching it there... Anyway, I had a little chat about this with Coin yesterday and there are pros and cons for setting up a league.

    The cons:
    1 not everyone likes football,
    2 football can cause arguments,
3 there might not be interest
4 it sounds a bit too much like hard work

The pros (apart from it being FREE!!)
1 Fantasy football can be won on pure luck (a friend submitted a team last year with no knowledge, ended up 3rd out of 9 without making any changes all season!!)
2 Listeners could get to beat the DJs at something other than PVP. Remember, the wounds frombeating up a DJ will heal, humiliation at beating them at football lasts!
4 It's a good laugh, and gives me something else to do!

So, since the sign up for fantasy football started today at http://fantasy.premierleague.com/, I figured 'why the hell not' and created some leagues. Yes, that's leagues plural.

The first is the Rogues Gallery - whoever gets the most points at the end of the season wins and the code is 44320-15503 and is the traditional kind of league.

The second is League of Rogues - a head to head game, where you're pitted against another member of the league and whoever scores the most points out of the two of you gets 3 points on the league board. A draw is 1 point. The code is 44320-15640 and everyone has a good chance of winning.

You have until AUGUST 14 (about a month) to create your team and join the leagues (one or both, it's up to you!) - we're not offering prizes but bragging rights and a shiny forum title on the Rogues Radio forums could be yours (I think, I'll ask Coin nicely and see what he can do!).

Yes, we may not get many people joining in, but I promise that it will certainly get mentioned on my show (head to head league will be good fun for bragging right!!) and if the other DJs get involved I'm sure it'll get a mention there as well. Be sure to have a look, read the rules on the website and remember if you create a team now you can change it as many times as you like until the start of the season. I hope you join me (a league of one would be rather lonely) and good luck to all who do.

My team name is the Escalusians, so hopefully I'll see you there!

It's sure to be a fantastic set and well worth tuning in for!
It was a very good set, a well done tribute.
  23. Thanks for looking over this one, Glaz. Been away for a bit, so was nice to come back to!

My own personal misgivings aside (for some reason interactive Harlequin Romances skeeve me out even worse than the regular kind) the story here is pretty simple: repentant criminal wants to make good before they get sent to the slammer. I could see this being about some Family made man -- minus the violations of my personal space, naturally. It's a little up in the air where my contact stands with the law later on - I could swear she was going through the courts at about the time she decided to throw herself on the not-hardly-mercies of her gang in mission 4. There were a lot of smaller things up in the air, really - more on that below.
Yeah the storyline is pretty simple, though I've gone in and clarified some of the storyline as well. She wasn't quite going to trial at that point, that was more for later on, but I've tweaked it as much as I could. Was quite close to the 100% mark, which I didn't realise. Didn't think it was that high, but the sizes have been a bit screwy lately.

Super strength is more golden than energy melee, force fields are green but get shot by a brown minion, et cetera. Sometimes powers went off a property of the name - Copper shot electricity, Mercury was en fuego like her namesake planet - but I would have liked to see more of a consistent match between particle effects and solid color. (also you'll want to check on Sky's powersets, as I said she's worth no XP which means she's missing a standard diff power somewhere) I'm not going to dock you for Marchand's Penthouse not having a nice boss fight on the roof/in the office, because that's unpredictable. But the cargo ship in mission 2 and warehouse in mission 4 both had essential objectives -- the captain and MaeMae (er, my contact) -- placed somewhere in the Middle of the map but spawned on a chain, which is a lot of ground to re-cover looking for them. The cargo ship in particular with its four chained objectives was a little much back and forth - maybe put the captain on from the start and keep the crew around as optional "flavor" detail.
I can see what you mean about the characters/powers matching up and I've reordered them slightly so that now the green character has rad powers, and the character with rad powers has the war mace and other tweaks. Also fixed Sky - very odd as I usually add powers in rather than take away. Speaking of powers I went in and tweaked the minions so the tier 9s aren't there. When you play as a scrapper you sometimes forget squishys. Have tidied the missions up as well, though I don't have as much leeway with mission 4 as I'd like, but I have tweaked it so it might be slightly easier and there is a warning about the time.

Tier 9 rezzes, nukes, and melee attacks on minions and lieutenants? Getting detention fielded on a timed mission? Bit of a sticking point. And there's nothing in the briefings about that timed mission, or about the final boss. Generally those get picked out in color in the intro screen.
Tweaked the mission notes, because 100% is hard to work with without dropping a custom and I couldn't decide which of them was out. It should play a little easier now, with a smarter power selection and tidier missions with warnings. Though they are subtle warnings, without being too subtle (I think!) which has an irony given how non-subtle the arc is at times!

Detail - **. Most of the incidental details in this arc tell instead of showing. I get a clue that "tells me where the gang is going next"... okay, clue, so why not spell out where they're going? The captain "tells me where to find the diamonds", but even if he only said "I hid 'em in a barrel amidships' that'd be some help in scouring this entire map for one glowie. There's a drug lab, but no indication of what drugs are getting brewed, who's buying, or who's selling. The threat to my contact's family and the directions for where to go both happen offscreen, and I never see them - would it hurt to see the ransom note as a start-mission clue?
Altered the clues so they're a lot more useful to work with, and fleshed it out a bit more. Would have done more but am strapped for space and I really hope that gets fixed at some point, because there could be more clues and expansion if there was.

If these enemies represent a reasonable threat without their tier 9s, cap the arc at an appropriate level. If you'd like them to have their full suite of tricks, floor the arc so that people have to face them. And whatever you do give the mind-kin lieut back whatever standard power is robbing her of experience. A little shuffling and reassigning to give everybody chromatically appropriate abilities wouldn't be a bad idea, either. The second and fourth missions could use a little cleaning up to reduce the back-and-forth, especially the second map, which has a million places to hide anything. And there's a lot of unnecessary indirection in the arc, with clues telling me I've found things or know things when they could just be telling me what those things are.
Thanks for the feedback, and the critique. I've certainly gone in and tweaked it based on what you said, and thanks for trying it out - especially as the arc is a bit racy with a bisexual contact, the AlmostNaked Ladies (which is a play on Canadian rock group) and custom chars which don't leave much to the imagination (I can see why in some cases the colour pallette of the skin tones doesn't match the costume tones because then this game would need a much higher rating!). I know people who have played it have enjoyed it, but maybe we're just pervs!!

Either way, the tweaks will help make it better, so thanks again.
