They are doing it for added publicity... Something I am pretty sure NASA needs... FIFA, not so sure, but I don't follow much sports, let alone football.
Looking for publicity seems to be glory hounding... but I might be using an archaic definition.
Regardless, it's still information spam... I doubt there is anything in those tweets that you couldn't uncover by visiting the respective agency's website. I get spam letters in my mail box, spam e-mail online, and even in game... I see no need to voluntarily sign myself up for additional flotsam and jetsam to sort through.
If you use it and enjoy it, good on ya. I feel it a waste of my time. Each to his own.

However, Twitter, SPECIFICALLY, is mindless information spam and glory hounding. It has apparent validity, since people use it, and enjoy it... If my friends/acquaintances/random strangers cared THAT much about my life, I'd be a little skeeved and afraid of stalkers, not complimented. I don't usually have issues with teams when I pop on Red-Side. But I have the benefit of being in Inf Badges, dUmb global, and a few others. Also, I both toss up my LFT flag, and will often hunt for others to complement the toon I'm on, and I don't mind lackeying up people.
You do not NEED AE to get to 50, and I'd recommend against it, since the Villain Missions are generally better written than the Hero ones.
I'm on infrequently, but poke Inf Badge Seeker or Arena for Eran, and if Red-Side, I'll pro'ly be able to help. -
