  2. Well, using Shockwave indiscriminately can lead to mobs scattering over the map, or even into additional spawns. If you knock them back into a wall or corner, they don't fly away as much, are grouped better for other team members, and they still have to go through the issue of picking themselves back up afore trying to hurt you again.

    Also, all Stalker secondaries can stay and scrap it out, just most of them can't at level 6... you need more powers/slots/enhancing first. Regen isn't weak, just since it only offers active/reactive mitigation, it seems weaker at low levels. Defense and Resist sets have at least SOME sort of passive/toggled mitigation that low.

    This is what I've been speccing my Flying MA/Inv into. May be worth a look-see for yourself.

    Just shy of CAK>SK>CS>SK (.4 sec off on SK's recharge), overcome if Force Feedback proc's. 1 Foe gives 46.6% S/L, and 41% F/C/E/N (17.7% Psi). 10 brings it up to 57.1% and 51.5%. Still waiting on the market to sell me my KinCombat Tri's, and me earning enough Merits for that damn PvP 3%, but otherwise it's together and solid.

  4. Regen can do it, it just needs time to mature, like all other Stalker sets. Once you get to the teen's/20's when you've gotten more of your heals, effective enhancements, and Placate... Your survivability will shoot up.

    Remember, though, because Regen mainly has reactive mitigation (Recon + DP for self-healing) and you'll take full damage from all attacks that hit you (~50%), you'll perform best against smaller groups. However, as your level and skill rises, and you gain more powers, you'll find you can take on harder and or more mobs with greater ease than in the single digits.

    Mitigation powers you have to look forward from level 6:
    Dull Pain (10) Self-heal and an HP buff. Delicious.
    Placate (12) Tells one mob to "look over there," it'll lose aggro on you, and you get a temp hidden. You can then hit some other mob for the crit, not just the placated one.
    Integration (16) Mez Protection and regeneration buff. No more KB/D, Immobs, Holds, Stuns, Sleeps.
    Focus (18) Ranged Attack that deals KD to the mob. If they are on their butts, they ain't hitting you.
    Instant Healing (28) LARGE regeneration buff. Helps you to heal damage about as fast as it comes in. Can be eaten through, but if you combine it with the HP buff of Dull Pain, it's really tasty.
    Shockwave (32) Cone AoE, dealing KB to mobs hit. While the KB may scatter mobs, with practice you can bounce them against a wall/into a corner. Worst case, it's a nice panic button, again, because mobs on their butts don't attack you. Also, if you use it from Hidden/Placate, 50% chance for a Crit on anyone hit. Makes for tasty damage.
    Moment of Glory (38) 15 Second Defensive Build Up. Nearly capped resistances to all but Psionic, and WELL over soft-cap for defense vs all but Psionic. Also known as the MC Hammer - "Can't Touch This" Also, a recovery buff, useful if getting drained.

    So, plenty to look forward too, just a little squishy at level 6. Good luck!

    Placate.

    Placate opens at level 12, and is your friend. Why? Slot for max recharge in it, and then use either your heaviest ST attack against a hard target, or your AoE* against a group. Giggle. Repeat.

    Also, on a tight team, Stalkers have a higher crit rate than Scrappers.



    If you need more setup time, then make it. Jump ahead to the next mob, learn to time your AS so it'll go off shortly before/after the aggro sponge jumps into the mob. Grow a pair and be the aggro sponge yourself, it's doable, mebbe not all Stalker combos, but many. Screw AS, just use your hardest hitting strike so you've got no set-up time.


    I wonder who these "many people" are, 'cause I missed that memo. I've got DM/SR and Claws/Will at 50, an EM/Regen at 33 (parked for drops), and a baby Kin/Nin I need to work on. The three finished toons don't seem to be lacking, and there's insane promise on that baby Stalk. Yes, they aren't as tough as my scrappers (Kat/Regen, MA/Inv), but where my scrappers are uncontrolled violence (and the MA is more tank-like), my Stalkers excel at Controlled Violence.
    Examples:AS without BU for Demoralize, then BU>Placate>Beatdown something else.
    BU+AS a few seconds ahead of the tank to drop that Nullifier/Succubus/other tough and troublesome mob before they get in and draw fire.
    Hard hitter from Hide on the Engineer/Sapper/minion PITA, and just not using AS EVERY time it's up.
    My Kat/Regen doesn't lean on DA all the time, my Stalkers don't need to lean on AS. Assassination applies to more than just one power.


    But, if you hate stalkers (much like I hate MM's, they make the game BORING), then don't play them. There's 11 other AT's with nearly 1,000 build combos between them all. You'll certainly find something fun. And if you don't, leave! ^_^ It's a game, not reality, this is supposed to be fun.

    To the OP, most people are friendly, and having experienced both extremes, I can tell you that that is much more important than who can pull an AV or otherwise play "correctly." The most fun task force I think I've ever done was one that spanned literally over 24 hours when it got really late, we disbanded, and reconvened the next day to finish it. My teammates were awesome cool, and some of them and I formed a supergroup that lasted several years.

    Like all servers, though, we also have a few people, whether intentional or not, who can sometimes be real [censored]s to others and I guess they think it's funny.

    Enough defense to avoid most hits after placating, enough toughness to take hits that get through, awesome self heal, and great mitigation from primary.

    Plus, Placate & hop back>Shockwave makes me giggle.

    MA/Inv is good?

    Bump and further tweak... taking advantage of the Incarnate functionality with the new Mid's... How's this looking? With Hasten up I still don't have CAK>SK>CS>SK (SK is .37 seconds shy), but I do have EC>CAK>CS>SK. Looks like End use is sustainable, with ~70 seconds at max burn on the EC chain (don't think this figures in proc from Perf Shift [~.2EPS?]). So, I'll not solo pylons without insps, but I should manage in PvE.

    -46.7% S/L, 41.1% F/C/E/N
    -Capped S/L resists, and 25.3% F/C/E/N Resist
    -Only issues are the grind for the PvP 3%, and getting used to Hover scrapping.

    So, viable? Crap? Better way to skin this cat?

    MA/Inv is good?

    Here's what I've come up with... notes, of course:

    - Trying to sort out what to do with my last 5 power picks... betting CP/Physical Perfection will be needed to run everything, even with Endurance Alpha.
    - Assault/Venge are for utility/concept, this is an Angelic character, and I like those powers for the theme.
    - 40.3% Def S/L with one foe in Invinc, bump to 43.3% if I grab that PvP IO... So, REALLY begging for CJ/Hover or both to help push over the threshold... however, what gets axed to fit one or both in? Don't mind Hover-Scrapping, assuming they fixed the follow issue, since again, it's an ***-whupping angel.
    - City Traveler is 2 months away for me... and I'm impatient... any decent way to re-arrange and drop Hover/Fly sooner if Hover is grabbed, without bjorking exemping? (main is a Kat/Reg, but this guy is just SO much tougher/nicer, he may take over as my default scrapper)

    A build, leveling friendly (eg, I tried to slot things as you'd earn them so the slot levels are pertinent), and you can slot with either 25 or 30 common IO's (recommend 30's). It gives ya everything from both Primary and Secondary, so you can decide what you like, what your playstyle is, and where ya wanna go with it.

    So, I've had this MA/Inv Scrapper since I8, been slowly poking around with filling in an old build and I ran him through an ITF. And he didn't suck... which was different. So, after talking with my mates in SG chat, apparently both MA and Inv got buffs that slipped past me, and the combo is rather tasty.     Warnings: Concept toon, so Flight is a must, if this is decent, I'll be waiting the month or so until City Traveler. Also, back when he was anemic and resting after each spawn, the KD procs in Kin Combat were lifesavers for surviveability... so I'd like to keep those if possible.

    Hrm, I've not heard of issues from my playing on my Shield-less Dark/Cold. Could be 'cause I'm too bust tossing out Sleet/TT/Nightfall/Benumb/HL and making mobs kittens... but nah, couldn't be. I must be a sucky player.
