Quote:If you are looking for a villain group (and eventually a supergroup), feel free to check out the Fallen Legion (Legion of Valor CoH-side) at http://fallenlegion.guildportal.com. We have lots of helpful folks that can help you with info, teaming, and getting acclimated to the game.yes I found that in my controls booklet. I'm on the victory server as a villian. I noticed there's a lot more heroes than villians so far but I am enjoying the game. I'm doing a lot of missions and building up my character. I'll eventually join the hero side.

Quote:It is possible to transfer toons between servers, but it will cost you $9.99 (+tax), and if the name is taken on the destination server you will be forced to change it (at no additional cost). Will just have to convince myself to let poor Villain girl go, or move her if that's possible, grr.
Welcome to the game, Kashi! -
Quote:In case you haven't found out how yet, the 'X' key will lower your altitude while flying (regardless of the source of your flight).thank you for your response. I was trying to learn how to lower myself while hovering and somehow made that mistake.
And welcome to the game! -
Quote:I don't think you're reading the entire article -- yes, you keep the set bonuses as long as your effective level is within 3 below the level of the set IOs (explained better in the wiki link than I can here).According to Paragon Wiki you do still get the bonuses. I haven't tested it myself with Set Bonuses but I have tested it with Global IOs which as far as I know use the same system and for them the level of the IO is all that matters.

I tested this out some time back on my main (before purples and name changes existed) -- see the below screenies before walking into Siren's Call, and after.

Quote:No, they do not expire, but are "stored" until used.Do they expire after a certain time if not used?
...
Also, how do I know when I'm using a free costume change token?
You know by using the toggle button within the costume editor. At the bottom, where it details your cost to make whatever changes you are making to the toon's costume, you will see a BIG blue botton that you can toggle to use a free costume change token. Simply click it to toggle off of the inf cost and instead utilize an available token.
As for the documentation, I just have to shrug and say that not everything can be documented. That's the reason we have such a great wiki and this forum with so many helpful folks available. -

Quote:Your statement thoroughly confuses me. Is the recharge % boost you are referring to from the individual IO's benefit (in which case, of course ED applies and that IO's recharge bonus ONLY applies to the power in which it's slotted), or is it due to the set bonus granted by having either a Luck of the Gambler +Recharge IO or multiple pieces of an IO set (in which case, I firmly believe that ED does NOT apply, unless someone can demonstrate to me a source to the contrary or actual, empirical evidence thereof). The recharge rate reduction is not a "special" benefit nor is it a "set bonus" it is the % granted by each individual enhancement just like the generics. There must be a reduction based on the % granted that explains the numbers and I believe it is ED.
Because either talking about a benefit from a "set bonus" (again, the 2, 3, 4 or 5 [a few times more] bonuses granted for having multiple pieces of the same IO set [or in a case like the LotG IO, for having that one particular piece]), or from the specific IO (i.e., Level X Recharge IO slotted into the power(s) in question).
After reading your statement again, are you saying it's the recharge bonus that applies ONLY to the power directly from the set IO (in other words, you have a set slotted that grants a number of direct effects on the power itself [and only the power itself])? If so, that's no different than the benefit given to a power by a generic IO, and is subject to ED. -
Quote:I completely disagree, GP. My PB is (due to concept reasons) human-only form (my WS is human/Dwarf) and I think it's a pretty solid toon, offering ranged options nearly as effective as a Blaster, and melee options pretty respectable as well. Not taking at least Dwarf or Nova does gimp a Kheldian to some extent (though all human Warshades seems to do better than all human Peacebringers). It's not quite on the order of a Tanker not taking their shields, but it is similar.
I think the bottom line is (like you pointed out) having an overall plan and working within that plan to excel. And in the end, I really think it's the player that makes a toon effective (or not) much more than simply the AT and powerset choices. -
Quote:That's very generous of you, Isthi! I'll definitely keep you in mind when we put one together!I can chip in for the redside competition. I love doing these things. Plus, I have infamy coming out my ****.
(And btw, my friend was thrilled with your MM build and is already asking if you have any ideas on a Thugs/Dark MM build...)

Quote:I don't believe that's true, and if it is, I haven't heard of it yet.I don't recall the exact name for the system, but sometime ago they added a diminishing returns feature to enhancement bonuses. Once you hit around 90%, you get less and less actual effect from additional bonus.
Per the wiki (which doesn't mean it's gospel, but I'd hope someone would have updated it by now if applicable): "Enhancement Diversification does not apply to special benefits or set bonuses. Hence, they are often used to get around the limitation of ED, and in some cases can provide greater percent improvement than the old pre-ED slotting."
I see no reference anywhere to set bonuses having "their own version of ED"...

The poster was referring to the possibility that, if a dev determines (through it being reported by a third party, or by seeing it directly) that a toon's name is offensive or a violation of the EULA, they will unilaterally change it to a "generic" name (something along the lines of "Generichero28482487").
If that happens, I believe you are issued a name-change token (at no cost), although having this happen would certainly be nothing to be proud of. -
Quote:I think you may be confused.Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 8 person badge borked for villains? Last I heard and attempted it, villains couldn't get it. We had 4 villains on each team.
Are you referring to the Swiss tournament badge (requires 8 people, but not on "teams"), or the Pentad and/or Septad badge(s)?
If you actually mean the Pentad badge, then Master-Blade quoted you the patch notes that fixed that earlier this month. However, if you're referring to the Swiss tournament, that's completely different... -
Quote:They can indeed be, as you say -- I think the poster you were responding to simply didn't realize that it could be done and/or how to do it.Since when can't buffs from the empowerment station be deleted? Bring up your powers, check for temp powers and right click delete power, unless a recent patch nerfed that.

I have to agree, I never liked the cel-shaded look that CO offers (although I know that it can be disabled, I really didn't prefer the alternative either). That was only one of the reasons I couldn't do more than a few hours of the closed beta, but a significant one -- I'm really spoiled by the look of CoX. I couldn't believe how awful WoW looked when I first saw a screenshot of it (MUCH worse than CO in my opinion).

Quote:That said, we definitely have people who prefer red-side play, and can support prizes for something like this, so do indeed look for a similar contest or event coming up so we don't ignore our red contingent!Sorry, I don't really have the inf to give out notable rewards red side at the moment,(I'm supplying much of the inf prize in this contest out of my own pocket...) but I'm hoping I'll be able to host another contest for all you evil doers at a later date.(Hopefully soon!

Why thank you, sir! Very kind of you to say!
And you're right, JV's WS is amazing, and Palindrome's WS is a freaking damage machine -- he spent a ton of money on the build and we were using it the other night to steamroll through Unai Kemen missions just for some fun.
Quote:I think for the most part what you are running into isnt the player being a Kheld its the player being in AE. -
Quote:Yes they do -- but be aware that after you have 5 of the same "bonus amount" (for instance, 5 10% bonuses to something, or 5 3.75% bonuses to something, etc. -- regardless of the source of that % bonus) you no longer receive benefit of that bonus.Do enhancements stack. For example, if I have the full set of crushing blow for melee on three different melee powers, do the bonuses stack?
So you can slot 5 Luck of the Gambler +7.5% Recharge IOs and gain the full benefit of all 5...but any more would be wasted and not give any further benefit.
Or you can have 2 +10% Regeneration bonuses from one set, and 3 +10% Regeneration bonuses from a completely different set; but ANY further +10% bonuses (from ANY set, regardless) will not give further benefit. -
Quote:I'll echo FW's information -- I've had friends more than once (and in different contexts) make this request, and Support has been great about giving it the ol' college try each time, and about 90% of the time has been successful at recovering the toon(s) in question. From everything I've heard before in such cases:
- You need the character's name
- You need the date it was deleted (to an accuracy of one week)
- You need to ask for it to be undeleted within 6 months of the deletion taking place
As far as the "sharing" issue goes, while it may be a technical violation of the EULA, I doubt any reasonable person at NCSoft would take exception to the situation as presented (a parent allowing their child to play on the parent's account). -
Quote:I couldn't disagree more. I've played this game for over 4 years now, and the 1-49 part of the game really does not interest me, nor does PvP. I particularly enjoy the high-level content (STF, LRSF, LGTF, etc.), and I like to have a "toon toolbox" so that I'm able to bring whatever toon will assist the team the most (i.e., 50 Stone Tank, 50 Rad, 50 Kin, etc.). And saying "the game at 50 is really no different from the game at 20" is inaccurate (other than the fact that you move with the same keys, push buttons or use binds/macros to operate powers, basic stuff like that). Playing a character with a few powers vs. playing a fully-realized character with many powers and options to choose from is a COMPLETELY different experience in my opinion. As has been pointed out numerous times, this is rather silly. The game at 50 is really no different from the game at 20. Skipping levels 21-49 by getting PLed is pointless, unless the ONLY reason you're doing this is to create a PvP character.
What it boils down to is that there are multiple ways to play this game, and as long as it's not injuring another player's enjoyment, or directly in conflict with the game's EULA, I am free to pursue my own method of play. I'll admit that I've made use of exploits from time to time, but that's a risk I take as a player, and the devs have the right (it IS their game -- the whole "I pay the fee to play so I get to decide what's right and wrong" argument is pure rubbish) to sanction me if they decide that I've voilated their policies. I also believe it's their responsibility to close off exploits as they're identified, which they generally do -- a known "exploit" that is allowed to remain is, in my opinion, very difficult to keep calling an "exploit". The whole point of an online game is that the framework that is in place should direct your gameplay and cause players to stay within the rules.
But I digress (as usual).
If other players enjoy the progression from level 1 up, who am I to tell them that it's "wrong" or an "incorrect" way to play? More power to them and everyone -- this is a great game in my mind simply because there IS no one, single way to enjoy the game. PvP, PvE, high-level, lowbies, Super Teams, leveling pacts, soloists, supergroups -- this is a very multi-faceted MMO, and I think it's why so many people can say they've continued to play year after year. -

I hope everyone will be able to turn out and participate or just sit by and enjoy the show this weekend!

Quote:I believe you're referring to the Invader Badge (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Invader_Badge), which is really an accolade that gives you +5% to your max health. Unlike the blue-side equivalent (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Stouthearted_Badge), actually a very handy accolade power indeed!Even if you do go ahead and buy a Raptor Pack from the vendor at Grandy's, you still may want to get the Atlas Mayhem under your belt anyway at some point in your career, since the exploration badge inside is needed for an accolade (the villain equivalent of Geas of the Kind Ones, if I remember right).
