Is it somehow significant that you're talking about a laptop? As far as I'm aware, the options are the same regardless of the type of computer on which you are playing (except that I've never seen CoX on a Mac, so I can't comment on that platform).
The way I'm aware of to change to windowed mode is to go to Menu > Options > Graphics and Audio > Graphics > Screen/UI Resolution and choose "Windowed" in the drop-down.
Since discovering Windowed mode quite some time ago, I'll never play any other way again. I love having CoX up but still being able to easily navigate to other windows. -
Quote:You're so right. My feeling is, if people want to do it, they are welcome to -- if that's the way they enjoy the game, more power to 'em. Of course, the devs want to eliminate afk farming as much as possible, and this does about as much as they can feasibly do.Still, it's all for the best. Of course I'm not looking at this change with rose colored glasses either: AFK farming will be reduced for certain, but eliminated? Not likely. There will be those with the "gotta have it now" "gotta get em all" mentality as well as those with many alts who may want the badges on as many as possible.
I'm in full agreement with you on that subject. 14 days would be a vast improvement, and still be a significant chunk of time logged out to earn. -
Yeah, was pretty cool moving my badge toon onto Test and then seeing all the badge "dings" for Popular, Leader, Medicine Woman, Empath, etc. Glad I worked on all that extra influence-earning over the past few months!
As far as the people who have Empath already, I don't really feel all that bad for them, because virtually everyone who has that badge pre-I16 (and I'll bet it's EVERYONE, but apologies if there's a hardy, dedicated soul out there who actually earned Empath without farming, hard as that is to imagine) used an exploit to farm for it (as did I, when time permitted, since my badge toon is a Scrapper).
As far as Leader goes, my hat is off to those who earned that badge, since you have to actually EARN it (unlike healing, damage, etc., which can be farmed easily while AFK). The prevailing sentiment I've seen amongst those who have earned those top epic badges has been one of graciousness, so I don't think too many of them are upset about these requirement reductions. -

Quote:With the exception of Ouroboros TFs and AE content, of course.A TF will remain active as long as two people are on the team. Meaning, if you have an 8 man posi TF and 6 of those people hit the "quit task force button" the task force will continue as per usual. But if the 7th person hits the button, the task force disbands.

Quote:One note on this for anyone who isn't aware: at level 25 a character can access the Ouroboros zone via anyone's Ouroboros portal, and it's very simple to simply fly/jump/run up and get the exploration badge there that provides the temp power access. If you haven't managed to get your Ouroboros portal by 30, do the Science store contact's mission.
Even though there are other prerequisites for the temp power as M_B points out, I simply use a 25+ alt from my second account, or ask a level 25+ friend/passerby to open an Ouroboros portal and get the exploration badge. Seems easier for me rather than worrying about which souvenirs or other badges grant the temp. -
Quote:There's simply no game interface that offers that information (or if there is, nobody here seems to be familiar with it). And any "hardcore" categorization would be defined individually by the player -- some people's "hardcore" is probably different than others'.The reason I ask is because a friend just achieved level 50 playing hardcore (no PL, no AE, no defeats) and it seems a shame that he can't prove it.
Would be a neat innovation for something like that to be officially defined (similar to the way that TF difficulty choices exist now) so that a person could create a toon and attempt to do exactly what it sounds like your friend did. -
I believe that power pools are NOT available at launch of I16, unfortunately (hopefully they will come later). The EAT pools (both sides) are definitely NOT included either initially.
When I played with the power customization interface at SDCC, only primary and secondary powersets were included (at that time). -
Great question -- I agree, you want to be able to build your toon in such a way that it matches your particular playstyle as best you can.
I recommend getting in the habit of checking a resource (I use www.paragonwiki.com) if you have questions like this about specific powers, powersets, ATs, etc.
You can find some great information on the Frostwork power here at the wiki: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Frostwork#Frostwork
Good luck with your build, Cold Domination is a great and fun set! -
As has been pointed out many (MANY) times before -- this simply isn't true. I'm not going to bother restating the obvious; I doubt it would do any good anyway...

If you are referring to the 24-month Veteran Reward "Base Transporter" power, as with any other Veteran Reward power, you have to "claim" it before it appears in your character's powers list. (And yes, it's available to both heroes AND villains.)
Click on the "Badges" link on your Nav HUD, choose "Veteran" and scroll down to the 24-month badge -- you will see a "Claim Reward" link there. Click it and your character now has access to the Base Transporter power.
As always, the wiki is your friend: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Veteran_...se_Transporter -
Austara, have you considered mining the http://www.vidiotmaps.com/ site for a lot of the more "dry" information (such as spawn points, connecting zones, etc.)?
You will get some great "color" information also by asking in this manner, and I will try to add some of my own comments later on, but I think if you use the vidiotmaps site in conjunction with the wiki (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page, as I'm sure you know) you will get answers to most of the questions you're asking from a pure data perspective. -
Quote:Not "nothing". Certainly (hopefully) not as many of the high-ranked groups as you think are "Prestige farms", and I haven't heard of any current prestige exploits (like the egregious one a few years back) that are being utilized.Sadly, a lot of the high-ranked groups got there either by exploiting or cracking the whip on prestige mules. The ranking, by itself, tells you nothing.
I understand your concern, Ironblade, and I agree that the rankings, by themselves, should be taken with a grain of salt. But that's also no reason to dismiss out of hand any group ranked highly. The ranking DOES tell you how active the group is (just not what to attribute that activity level to).
In our case, on Victory server, we are the #1 and #2 ranked (by Prestige totals) SG and VG, respectively, and we are not in any way a Prestige farming operation, nor do we have any SG mode or earning requirements. What we are, simply, is a very large, cohesive and friendly group of casual players that have been very organized for over 5 years now.
I say this to point out that anyone looking for an SG on any server can, I think, use the rankings as one piece of information, and then do the rest of their due diligence (i.e., review the SG/VG's website [if any], speak to member(s) in-game, etc.) to find a group that will fit their playstyle best. -

Never heard of one being done, but you might ask your question in the Corruptors' AT forum and see if anyone there has done one or heard of one being done...
-
I can also confirm that I use Vista (64-bit home version) and I have ZERO problems with running CoX.

The wiki explains it very well (and so did the above posters, but I can't resist the oppotunity to direct people to the wiki
): http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Rule_of_5#The_Law_of_Fives.

It's 5. So don't slot that 6th one, it will have no effect.
(Also note: you can slot OTHER +7.5% recharge bonus-giving items, because the bonus' "name" is different.) -
Last 2 STF runs I have done (both within the past few days) we haven't had this issue, and I was keeping an eye on the Repairmen. There didn't seem to be any targeting anomalies during either run (not saying the bug isn't there; clearly it seems to be...we just didn't have an issue either time).
-
If by accident, then of course not -- but I was referring to the much more common (I'm sure) case of a toon's name being "genericized" because it was obviously offensive or an infringement.

Congrats on the win, Viv, well deserved (I can't wait to see Frank's interpretation of Viv!). And congrats to ALL the winners, and thanks to everyone who participated!

Quote:Understood, and your points are all well-taken, GP. And I completely agree with you about the game's level of customization allowing so many combinations, which is especially true for Khelds. (And I can't really get into WS either, for the same reasons you cite. I finally went ahead and bit the bullet and just PL'd her to 50 in AE so I could be done with it already.I have nothing against all-human builds... just saying they're not quite going to have all the capabilities of a Kheldian making use of the forms.
