Arbiter Fabulous walks into the wonderful home of Rookery, looks around and makes a post on the wall.
"This building will be demolished for not meeting the standards of the community. A new one will be supplied to you that meets our standards in about 72 hours. Go outside and get some sun...
-Arbiter Fabulous, Bowl and Doily Spiders.
((thought we could have a farewell threat to the old boards who have served us well for so many years, one last Classic Rookery before the new ones starts up! Only a few hours to do it in!)) -
My 2 cents if they mean anything.
Last time I heard griefing was considered against the rules, if droning isn't under that fine so be it.
I'm not a PvPer, pry never will be but I have a great respect for those that do.
My issue with this is not someone being a jerk and getting paid for it, it's about ethics. I really should re-read the EULA but to me, there has got to be something in there about running social experiments. We, as a playerbase, do not spend our hard earned cash to be experimented on, without our consent. Had the players been notified or had volunteered to be a part of this experiment, fine so be it. But to do an experiment on a group of people without giving them notice or getting their permission seems highly unethical, and frankyl something that should be reported to Loyola.
The second part ties into the first, he did this to an anonymous group, INCLUDING MINORS. Yes, you need parental permission to play this game at certain ages, but I highly doubt any parent giving consent to have their child subjected to a social experiment. I see no ethical grounds in this mans research whatsoever.
Now I'm not saying folks should get sue-happy, but I *DO* feel that Loyola needs to have a few phone calls and ask if it is in their policies to have their professors experiemtn on children without their or their parent's permission, if it is within their practices to hire people who do these activities. If it is within their practices to conduct social experiments on an unknowing public, using a service he did not get permission from to run a social experiment in.
I could honestly see NCSoft having a feild day with him in court, simply for using their game to conduct this on their clientele without their knowledge.
I'm not stating this because he did this to CoX, I'd be saying the same thing if I heard this story happening to WoW players.
I'm not saying this because he was a griefer, even though I have no respect for them either.
I just honestly think there needs to be quite a few calls to the right people at Loyola University about their standards of ethics, and what is expected of their teaching staff.
If he worked for me, and I found out he did this, I'd have his office cleaned out by the end of the day, if only to save my own behind from getting sued by a bunch of angry mothers who found out their 14 year old was being studied by a middle age man over the net to see what made them squirm.
But that's just me.
Also a thesis which can be summed up as "If you poke even nice people enough times, they get angry." Yeesh, I'm in the wrong business. -
I'm about 700 mill into the badges, myself. All I have been doing is ITF'ing if it becomes available but not grinding it. My big thing is just exploring content, running every ouro arc I've missed, remember you get double inf for exemplaring down, so start with the low level and work your way back up, if anything it'll give you a refresher course on your character at every possible level. It will also help you feel like your making progress on something if you are a completionist like me.
Marybash during double XP though... -
well bother, *grumps* well if anything the bios and everything are at least stored for reference..
Devs, any way of getting this added in? -
Hey, I was trying to test out some of my recolored AV's for my Arbiter Fabulous Strike force, and noticed that if I have a custom group as the main enemy for a mission and select a boss, my AV'S do not show on the list, how do I get them to?
Reselect from the original, hit edit standard, redit them withthe bios I had set forth, in essence doing the same thing twice, or is there some switch I'm missing that allows them to show in there?
HALP! -
Not my favorite color combination, but I wanted it to at least be the same color scheme, at least approximate, to the original.
In the unlikely event that te model does get changed, I do hope they go in a totally different direction. Something fun, spunky, and maybe using Vines, which I am really thinking is my new fav masking set. -
I'm serious too. I expect a Red Name and a post, you have one week.
-Arbiter Fabulous -
I'm a Service Trainer, but I have worked back of house in other restaurants. Only Culinary team members can earn the right to go to Italy.. or Certified Trainers.. only a handful company wide are selected every year. I'm hoping to go eventually though.
-
Just a little post to let you know, I passed my certification tests 100% and am now a Certified Trainer for the Olive Garden! All that hard work has finally paid off!
-
Understood, and with that in mind I actuallt re-structured the suggestion to fit that into account. What are your feelings on the new method, or are they the same?
Also, I did change the topic line as well due to my realization I was coming across a bit brash. I'mnot trying to "hinder" farming, but trying to make it more accessable for people to be on AE teams they prefer, the reasons of which as well as my personal accounts have been previously stated.
I do thank you though for your responce and await your next. -
My suggestion, turn the tables on them, find the location of Gagora.com, be it a PO box, shipping address, anything.. and if they still do this sort of this, I know it's very '90s tons of the old AOL cd's!
Or bags of fertilizer..
every day until they get the hint.
OK humor aside, the ban list does need to be larger, and I do like the suggestion that banned accounts get all mail autodeleted.
perhaps if the ignore lists were encoded for the player side of things, then it wouldn't be a strain on the servers, i would crossreference the emails against our banlist file, and remove those that are undesired. this was the strain of holdign the ignorelist will be off the game servers too.
if code wize this is not possible, inform me, I am not a programmer. -
As the suggestion has changed in method and honestly, I think the original title was a bit too negative I have changed the title of this suggestion.
I still hope to hear your feedback and critisisms both pro and con. -
You bring up a very valid point on that one Bill, thank you
I would like to have it be per CHARACTER, instead of per ACCOUNT.
How about this, if you flag it as something you wish not to play, the next time you are on a team and that arc is selected two things happen.
1. The team leader is send a dialogue box informing them that the selected mission contains content deemed undesirable by one or more members of the team. It's anonymous, it's inobtrusive, and it gives a chance for them to possible choose somkething else, or continue on.
2. it informs the PLAYER that a mission they flagges as content they did not want to partake in has been selected, so they can voice their concerns, leave the team, or suggest a different mission.
Yes, it is adding another step into how things technically are now, but I know I'd appreciate a warning if I'm going to be on a team running stuff I frankly can't stand.
this way it doesn't force teams to not do content, but it does allow players and team leaders to know where each other stand ahead of time.
Perhaps, if you have arcs you can set also to PREFERRED, so team leaders who get the dialogue could see a suggestion to a different arc instead, and switch over.
That version stops the griefing of it, while still having some of the core aspects, for those who /unsigned, what are your feelings towards that?
and Memphis, thank you again for your critisism, I hope to hear it again for this. -
I feel it would be more of a hinderance to have the missions personally reported to a GM for being a farm mission, and having that players Arc Slot being shut down due to one or a few players dislike of farming.
This way you can simply opt to do a different arc. Yes as the base idea currently is, it's abusable. I want you, the detractors to help me refine it, if you'd be willing. I KNOW farming isn't going anywhere, but it's a real pain to play for 90 minutes, be on 7 teams and have to drop them all due to AE farming. I'm not the only one that it's happened to, and no I'm not saying that everyone hates this.
Basically, I want to find a way of making it so the content a team runs is something the whole team would be eager to do, so everyone *IS* happy. If this option is not appropriate, what would YOU like to see done?
Farmers, tell me what you'd like to see, in reverse, so you aren't pestered by folks who only want to run storyarcs. -
Awesome, I was hoping you'd respond, you have some of the better discource and critiques to ideas.
The reason why, honestly started as an idea to not play arcs that a player may not wish to engage in due to a personal dislike of the mission based on content etc, that didn't nessasarily breach the rules on innapropriate content. Later on after realizing how many times I've been invited to teams promising missions and content only to be faced with lvl 54 bosses on the carnival map did I really wish I could use it there. Or on the lvl 52 lt on the dreck map. etc etc, I'm sure you get the point.
Many times myself, and if I'm the only one this has happened to, so be it, I'm not goign to claim this has happened to everyone, have been finding great difficulty in finding teams to run content, even when we are heading up the team. Farmers and storytellers all bunched together fighting over what to run.
Frankly, I will be the first to admit, I *AM* biased against AE farms, but I know not everyone is, and it just feels tiring after a while to report the farms time after time trying to clear up the AE for what it's original intention was.
I know it's not ever going to be what it's original intent was, it's too far gone at this point.
With the system I was thinking though, you could gradually weed out the farms, OR conversely the stories if you prefer farms, and start to split the two groups properly.
that way folks who dislike farming will be in a place where they won't be, and those who do enjoy will find the folks who enjoy it as much as themselves.
It's only the basic concept at this moment, if you have an idea for it, please Memphis, I do value you opinion greatly.
I'm just tired of dropping team after team after team after team. -
For those of us who do not like farming, and we do number high, I have an idea for a system to implement to hinder farming in AE.
A personal Arc-lockdown.
Basically once a mission is over, when you have the chance to rate, submit critisism, or report for content, you can have a button that will flag that arc as "not to be played".
If that mission is selected by the leader of your team, a message that "The selected mission is unavailable to the current team configuation." This would be set personally.
The upside of which is, if you have a team of farmers who just enjoy the experience of farming together, this doesn't hinder you, as you're not likely to do this. But for those of us who want to run content, we can now opt out.
Admittedly it will take a while for the full effect of this to take place, folks would need to go on a few of the missions to select them as unwanted, but eventually, the calls for random farm teams would dwindle as the PUG's for farming would have difficulty grabbing missions, as any one person could prevent any mission from being acceptable.
I know this could have it's negative effects as well, but I'm not a dev or a programmer, I think it's a good starting point, to be fleshed out b those wih greater knowledge. Not to mention, itll assist our GM's in not needing to spend as much time locking down missions.
As I said, if you LIKE AE farming, awesome, you pay your 15 bucks, and if thats what you wanna do with your friends, sweet, more power to you. But most of the big time farm groups I've ran with, and I admit, I have now and tehn, are a more closed off sect, and this system would not hinder them. they'd keep those missions open across the board.
Just my $.02
Now, I know rebuttals are coming, on the forums as in AE, I appreciate critisisms, so please be honest in why you like or dislike this idea. I do want to reiterate I am trying to think of a system that would still allow folks who DO like to farm to continue that practice, even if I personally disagree with AE farming.
-Equation, who is certain to be called a Fail Whale soon... -

I', happy we are getting I1 soon, although it seems to not have alot of meat to it, the meat it does have is good. It's like the filet mignon of issues, very nice, but you are through with it soon and ready for more.
Can I ask a favor, devs.. On release day, simply drop the NAME of Issue 16, no details, no ETA, just a title for us to try and figure out. -
So Farrah Hair and the Moonwalk come to a close in the same day...
Both a bit outdated, both clinging onto fashion and dance trends past their time, may you rest my old familiar friends...
...
I had nothing to do with this, I swear, I was in St. Martial getting a tan and a manicure.
-Arbiter Fabulous, who rather LIKED Charlie's Angels and Thriller...
OOC: Rest in Peace sweet Angel and King of Pop, memories and feelings of nostalgia will never end.
-A very sad Equation... -
Actually, it is ReichSmaiden, new wireless keyboard and all that, the s must not have sent.
Thanks, Soul, and everyone else, I have tried to get in contact, to try and make sure they didn;t want the name back or anything, but no responce, I'm going to claim it as my own.
If you were the owner of this name, please get in contact with me, I know it may be silly, but as a player, to a player. I wanna make sure, is all. -
I recently snagged the name Reichmaiden, she is going to be my Going Rogue character.. I was thrilled that I got this name!
Then I went to virtue verse and saw a rather well done, massive page to that name, and stopped short.
I mean, I got the name fair and square, but I feel like I'm stepping on another players toes by taking a name that they put alot of effort into, and in the event I make a VV for her, I don't want to nullify the hard work and dedication of the name holder before me...
Help? -
OCD, nah, definately a big no.. I'm CDO about badges.
I mean, I'd be OCD except I HAVE TO PUT THE LETTERS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER DANGIT, you *CAN'T just leave them *JUMBLED* like that! -
Hopefull will have more Fab up soon, been busy, and I know I use that as an excuse alot but..
In the process of a promotion! Becoming a corperate trainer! So yeah, all that hard work of late been paying off, so I do apologize, I'm not going anywhere!
