  1. If people placed outstanding bids on these things and let them sit there for what they're willing to pay, then people wouldn't delete them anymore.

I did open a support ticket, and the GM's are being very helpful, though it isn't resolved yet.

I have this same issue on a toon, 20/21, and I just assumed it was a display error. I guess I have to petition too. Who knows what I had in that slot.

And I retract my 2B per infamy.....you're right on that but as I pointed out there is still way plenty of space to store infamy even if you play alot of alts (12 on one server and 6 on each other).
  3. O.K.

Which one of you was running the LotG 7.5% Global redside niche and decided to crash it pre-GR?

Prices have dropped so much that my lowball bids have filled and I'm probably going to make inf post-merger....but even I have limits on how many more of these things I can buy without having to throw other IOs out on the market.

    who is 666?

I have a distinct ending to all of my bids as well (except test bids which I don't want to show are me for market PvP reasons). But, I am not 666, though I chased someone enamoured with that ending off one of my niches about a month ago.
  5. You can send 2B per email...of course the receiving toon has to be totally empty to accept such a mail. I'd say you'd always need to keep at least 1 slot open to send whatever the receiving toon has but could safely send 2B per slot otherwise....so 38B in 19 email.

In addition you can have 12 toons per server as storage mules. Lets assume that you're an altaholic and have 6 toons you actually play per server and a home server full with 12 played toons. That still leaves you with another 60 "mules" to store 2B apiece on for another 120B.

Throw in the fact you can have a personal SG/VG base and store actual valuable items in racks of 100 IO's each. So assuming you decide to have 10 racks (1000 IOs) in your base and fill them with IOs worth an avg of 20M each (easy with a few purples and lotg's mixed in. There's another 20B stored in illiquid form.....if you stock mainly high end stuff with an average price of 200M each (still quite easy if you're that loaded) -- and you can store 200B in a single base thats not even maxed out.

If you have more than that you can afford to use inf to start more solo VGs for storage with mules until all your stuff is stored.

Trust me there is little or no fear of people losing their fortunes if they put a little effort towards maintaining them.
  6. Whatever the rules I have begun spreading my infamy out among all the servers so that every alt has between 750M and 1.5B on them cause I don't trust the devs ability to make sure I don't lose all those piles of 2B infamy which are clumped on my mules atm. Honestly I've never had so much money on Triumph and Liberty so its a new experience.
  7. Casual players don't even know they can email stuff to themselves in many cases.

That said, I think the tool will be used more effectively by people with loads on infamy than those who play casually so like most tools it will tend to increase income disparities.

That said, it looks like the incarnate system which is coming soon might overshadow IO slotting so infamy might lose another notch of value coming up soon.
  8. AE Exp isn't that bad at the moment cause exploits are under control at the moment.

That said, I'd like to see tickets get nerfed a bit more for recipe rolls (not salvage its nerfed enough there already). Its kind of silly that the easiest way to make money is to kill a bunch of virtual^2 stuff and then take bronze rolls (Gold rolls should be removed outright.....TF need to have some value still).

Range on cones makes them longer (and thus cover more total area). But, the angle of the cone isn't changed, just the length affected.

I agree with you on the AoE's. I've been focusing on the PBAoE's on mine and ignored the cones so far. I may get that eventually though for situational use.

Honestly with 3 PBAoE so early I just spend all my time in melee and I pray for a defense buffer (ff, cold, traps) on the team as much as a good herding tank. With good buffs I can herd myself in fact against groups w/o defense debuff.

    Imperious TF

My favorite ITF so far wasn't my fastest it was all MM night in Cimeroa. We got 8 MMs and cleared maps #1 and #2. Then we crushed maps 3 and 4
    (thought didn't clear them).

It was a bit laggy in a few places but the pets kept fighting on so it was all ok.

    Time: 47 mins.

Since them I haven't been picky other than to make sure we have at least one toon to take the alpha, one debuffer (almost any kind is ok), and at least one toon is a 50 and willing to start it.

My fastest ITF (17.43) was far from the most fun. Though I was shocked at the time at the end. And although we did limit it to 50's, we just took our best toons without regard to what they were and it was fine (despite only 1 debuffer and no buffers)

    Rad/Fire

I made one of these about 5 weeks ago and have been loosely playing her from time to time. She's amazingly fun and with one def buffer on the team really increases kill rate. I expect this will become FotM at some point....if not already.
  12. I will also throw my hat into the ring requesting the old thigh high boots back. The old ones looked like boots, the new ones look like someone painted a boot shape on their legs.

I understand the need to reduce clipping, but honestly with ninja-run on I have tons of clips all the time and its no big deal. Sometimes clipping even creates a desired effect.
  13. I'll concur that its easy to make money redside. Many niches go unexploited as in nobody crafts them. Then the buy it NAO! crowd drives the crafted IO price up to whatever is 10M above the highest listed one and you'll see like 44 bids and 0 avail with last 5 sales for like 30M 30M 22M 31M 40M. Then you go to the recipe and there is like 10 of them available with maybe 7 lowball bids (or not sometimes) and the last sales are all under 1M (100k in one case).

So how do you handle this? You buy all the recipes which are selling for under like 3M, craft them all....list for 2/3 of the 30M avg (20M) and often you'll see an instant sale or 2 for like 30M.

I did this recently with one IO and someone had typo'ed and left the standing bid and boom.....300M autosale.

Just examine the recipes you pop as you get them and you'll have a hard time NOT finding something profitable that nobody else wants at that moment.

I recently dropped my thunderstrike crafting from an alt cause the profit per craft dropped below 3M and I found something nicer....but I was still running stacks of 10 on thunderstrikes and selling them all out in 3 days or so netting 22-26M total when I dropped it.

I'm not a fool though and won't give up what I'm crafting atm
  14. How do you decide what to price at when selling? Well thats the rub isn't it?

Generally when I'm crafting low-end, high-volume IOs like say Crushing Impacts I do the following:

Buy a stack of 10 of the recipe plus 10 of each of the salvage entered into it. Make sure to park the alt who bid on them on the docks outside the market in Cap for discount coupons for crafting (with the accolade).

Once all components are in I add up the cost per IO:

    CI:Acc/End recipe 550k each
    Salvages: 80k each
crafting cost 470k each (or whatever it is exactly once I've gotten the discounts too)

So I'd know it my exact cost....lets assume here its 1.1M for simplicity (which is why I rounded the numbers)

You also have to price in a 10% fee in the market to cover the black market fee.....so at this point our min price to break even would be 1.21M.

BEFORE I actually craft the damn things I put a bid out at my break-even price. If that fills I just sit on the stuff. Selling prices will be more expensive soon since everyone else is dealing with the same market I am.

If that doesn't fill I slide up to 130% of my break-even or 50%+1 of the last bid (whichever is higher) until one fills. If one doesn't fill I list for 130% of breakeven or 50%+1 of last bid.

If it does eventually fill, I list a bit lower than where it filled (even the 11th I bought from someone else) in order to sell my stock 1st.

In general this strategy has driven profits in niches down, making prices better for players but also driven sales to me.

If someone comes back and relists lower than you in a market PvP maneuver, you can either bail on the niche, selling at 110% of costs to just get out ASAP, or you can market PvP back depending on how you feel about the whole thing and how much time you have.

I've probably given away too much information to people who might be interested in "stealing a niche" from me, but honestly with markets merging I'm not to worried at this time cause I'm going to have to re-write all my rules most likely anyhows since I do about 75% of my work redside anyhows and the new market will be much more like the blueside one.

I'll second what Fulmens says on buy it Nao! folks not caring what they pay too. I've listed things for like 4M when last paid was 6M and seen it sell for as high as 15M so they didn't even bother to look at the last prices. Remember even if you have a big pile of inf in this game, someone probably either has more or has a higher utility associated with spending as much of it as possible playing rather than build assembling.
  15. I have a computer which is ridiculously overpowered to run CoX (I am getting fps of about 20 in full ultra mode) and I've been having significantly longer load-in times when zoning into zones (as opposed to instances -- except outdoor missions which sometimes are slow too) since i17 as well. I'm convinced that keeping track of where all the objects for shadows and relections are has made load-ins longer.
  16. Wow 9 pages on sb manners. I'm glad most of the discussion seems to be focused on controllers and defenders cause I mostly play redside.

    Here's the truth on sb:

    1) it makes the team more powerful (excepting computer issues of the players not the toons).

    2) its not the only thing kins can do nor even the single best (fulcrum shift well applied has more affect on team success than speed boost).

    3) the easiest way to apply speed boost is to toggle down the team menu and sp each person in turn. Sometimes people arent in range when you do this and miss speed boost.

    4) sometimes people are jerks when they don't get speed boost, even if it lapses for less than 5 seconds or I'm dead because they didn't taunt or something.

I know all of this in advance before I log into my kin and if i choose to log her I accept the consequences....that said I'd prefer if #4 was rare and it often makes me leave and take my fs'ing sb'ing self somewhere else.

FF, sonic, thermal, and cold dom buffs are similar but people just aren't as rabid about them for whatever reason even though the defense buffs usually are as or more important because everyone can cut loose and not worry on aggro which increases damage as much as a fs does.
  17. The reason Triumph Insult reduced the tank's stun protection by a mag of 1 was because the proc was hitting the tank with its all mag 1 stun. How useful is that.....well quite terrible if it hit you while you were detoggled I guess...but basically worthless.

Lets face it there are some junk pops in the game and you have to be careful you have some idea what you're making.

    Functional bases

I'll add that the design is for bases to be a significant undertaking if done solo. The reasoning is the devs already gave us some non-base storage (the vault) and now have given us the way to store recipes and IOs (emails to self). If you want the extra storage space a base allows you have to put alot of work into it.

I've not only earned alot of prestige playing my toons but also dumped a ton of cash into prestige conversions. My VG on Freedom is close to cracking the top 100 from all the conversions I've done in fact. I don't have any more helping me than you (2 family members who on-and-off play).

P.S. I'd have made a new thread for this rather than animate this old thread from 2005 from the dead, but it was humorous to read the old posts I guess.
  19. Most blasters play to do the AoE killing. Sonic is a set which is about debuffing resistance which makes everyone else do a better job killing. Its a much more popular set among corruptors and defenders because the players attracted to those combos are more inclined to support role than blasters.
  20. I'm with snow globe on this. I assume that since most of the time less than 0.1% of the player base even cares about gladiators (weird pokemon style fights in a SH game) except to get the badges, that they'll get to it when they get to it.
  21. Let me rank them in order

    1) Mutant -- The organic armor looks great. It has a self-buff like the magic cards. At the moment its at the top because of that alone. But honestly 1-3 here are all good.

    2) Natural -- I use alot of the ninja robes to complement other stuff and make fancy dresses and stuff. Ninja Run rocks and allows most of my toons to skip a travel power until well along in their development which helps me see what new sets I like or dislike by like 20th level.

    3) Magic -- I use alot of the costume stuff from this. In fact almost every toon has something from it. Don't think I don't love this pack....there is a huge gap from it to #4 in my liking. The magic cards are kind of a pain with the need to accept and all, plus its a buff other thing so less good than the mutant one.

    4) Tech -- I don't make many tech-oriented toons, though its been useful from time to time. The self-destuct isn't terribly useful but is a good get-out-of-dodge type power which might actually kill something.

    5) Science -- its nice but no power and I'm not dying to have mad scientist hair or whatever on most toons. The changing scales is cool though for having a huge hero-scaled toon and a normal human-sized civilian form.

If Valkryie pack was in there it'd be between 3 and 4 because of the door TPer and costume usage. If the Pocket D TPer was in there it'd be between Valk pack and Tech.

    Just started

Welcome aboard. I concur with fulmens that buffs/debuffs are going to be more powerful than you're used to in other games and healing less powerful. That doesn't mean healing is not useful....its cruicial sometimes in fact. But a ff or cold dom can increase group survivability more than an empath in most cases.

The holy trinity in CoX is someone to take the alpha strike from the enemy, someone to lock the mobs in place (immob or hold), and someone(s) to do massive AoEs. If you have a fully IO'ed level 50 toon sometimes that can all be one person.

Like others have said, this game's content is fairly evenly distributed so the path to 50 is as much fun as being 50. In fact other than for PvP, sub-50's might be more fun because there is stuff to do other than try to pop purple or PvP recipes.

Don't base the pbase on Galaxy City, its the lower used new zone for heroes and Atlas Park has alot more action. If you want to try a villian out, the action really gets started when you get to Cap au Diable.
  23. I'll take 848M unless its taken in which case move me down to 847M.
  24. Anyone who didn't see this cat roaming around out of the bag months ago doesn't do market stuff.

I have 4 whole storage bins in my freedom SG base full of pet damage recipes. I might be responsible for the lack of recharge intensive pet recipes as I bought a ton of everything popped blueside in those between august and march before my chests filled up.

I was worried I wouldn't be the first to cross over and get to sell but now I'll just list my stuff and sell it over time.
  25. sonic/rad

Your base damage might be lowish, but with everything res debuffed so thoroughly it won't matter.
