Quote:You need to get a sense of humor dude.Wow. You really sounded just like Kanye West! And I imagine I could respond to your post in the same manner as Obama.
So... other people can post that they have seen nerfed drop rates, and because I haven't I can't post, or my post is somehow suitable to be dismissed?
I believe there is probably something wrong, but I doubt it's as bad as everyone states. I play pretty often and have noticed nothing different. And I've been looking. I plan on farming a bit this weekend and I'll start recording my results. When I do, I'll let you know what I find.
It was an attempt to lighten up a thread that was getting a little too abrasive.
And it was that bad, or as bad as a bug can be.
I would write a Kayne-Taylor Swift like apology, but I hate typing in all caps... -
Quote:Good looking out Synapse. Can you disclose what the bug had to do with or is that on a need to know basis?I just wanted to let you know you can probably stop recording data, a fix for this should be making its way to the training room fairly soon. Your drop analysis there, when this patch hits the training room, would be very useful. Thanks for everyone's diligence, and believe it or not the bug had nothing to do with team size, what map you were on, whether you were in taskforce mode or not or anything else mentioned in this thread.
Regards,
Synapse
btw a SGmate of mines had a theory... Synapse was playing Jedi mind tricks on us. -

Quote:That doesn't count, it was a different thread, like an different award so lol
Too late, actually. -
Quote:Doing my best Kanye West voiceI have no hard data, but I still find nothing amiss with the drop rates. Before i16, it took me (usually) two runs set at 8-man to fill up with salvage and recipes. It still takes two runs. Sure, I have a run every now and then when I get nothing, I also get runs where I get 15 recipes.
If there is a difference, I can't see it.
If you guys tell me it's borked, I'll believe you, but I won't believe that it has changed that much because nothing has changed for me, even a little bit, since i16.
Yo PunceNonagon; I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but most of us have been having the worst drop rates of all time...
Too soon? -
I'll be on target for next session

Quote:I don't have Vista but possibly you need to have it running in Admin mode. I also have issues with the last release, it would toggle from online to offline, I had to download the new unstable release in order for it to work. For reasons unknown herostats hates vista and I can't get perl to work. The latest version I downloaded says it won't work with my processor(2.56 core2 duo). Then when I downloaded an older version it doesn't run dropstats even though I'm giving the correct directory.
Ohh well, I'll just try to get herostats and vista to cooperate I suppose.
Good luck -
If any of these are occurring on Victory feel free to shout it out in chat. I'll be more than happy to clean them up.

Quote:Some are using Herostats, that can downloaded from the CoHtitan network website. Others are using Dropstats, the link is in this post; I don't know it off hand.Hi. I've been reading this discussion as often as I can and would like to help you all gather data.
I have a level 50 D4 that I use for quasi-farming that is available for help, but I do have some questions.
What program is currently being used to track the drop rates/kills? What should my kill quantity be for best data? What missions/levels are recommended?
Thank you in advance.
Swampy. -
Very nice post TopDoc. One minor caveat; there are many definitions as to what "casual" actually means in CoX. Casual as in regards to play time or casual as in regards to interest to name a few.

Yet even when faced with mountains of data provided by players in beta as well as in live he still says there is no problem with drop rates and it's a merely a "perception" issue.
-
That is my feelings as well. However when speaking to a friend on Vent last night regarding Synapse's response he mentioned Synapse's "its a perception issue" answer. Which lead him to ask (something to the effect of) maybe Synapse perceives we don't deserve the same drops but we perceive that we do.

Quote:I have been testing with scanners in PI as well as Oro. All set to +0/8 Bosses no AV's. I said I was done testing but since I run Herostats I'll post last night's 1.5 hour radio mission runs below. Is anyone else testing with paper/scanner missions with a level 50?
If this is a case of the universe deciding to shove probability out the window just for me and just for recipe drops then I should start buying lottery tickets for the karmic payback.
I have to reiterate: My drops have sucked since I-16 hit beta with my level 50 scrapper running scanner missions in PI. How many weeks have passed in that period?
The odds of me maintaining such low drops rates purely due to some statistical aberration in the random number generator over this much time approaches nil.
635 Enemies defeated
47 Salvage
59 Inspriations
9 Recipes (Including Rope-a-dope: Acc/Stun and Thunderstrike: Acc/Dam)
Do players that solo 8 man spawns deserve the drops equivalent to an 8 man team? -
Quote:Thanks.Based on a PM he sent me yesterday, his 5 runs on the internal server all involved him going through the maps and manually defeating all the mobs. I don't know whether or not he used the [I Win Button] on his test server runs, but he definitely used the old-fashioned method of beating stuff up in at least 5 of his 15 runs.
I take it the internal server is not the same as the ones we are experiencing these issues with is it? Such as Victory where I'm at (and the lag is killing me too!) -
Possibly, however some of us have questions as to how he is testing. I'd feel more comfortable if he said he was running tests on the live servers with normal toons. Rather than the internal and test servers.
-
Quote:Same. On the off chance that something had changed on test, I hopped back on and used the same Abyss mission I'd given Synapse to test. He ran it 15 times and got 14-19 recipe drops each time. I've run it over 20 times on a single character and never gotten above 6. My average is three.
In 344 kills, I again got 3 recipes.
I'm sorry he can't reproduce it. It's real and it's consistent, but not across characters/accounts in a way that we've been able to isolate the common factor.Quote:I can compare my spines/fire on one account with my warshade on the other running the same arc in Ouroboros. I'll set them both to the horribly boring +0/1 hero setting. The only drawback is both are on East Coast servers (Pinnacle and Triumph) if that would have any impact on it.
By the way I got 2 recipes during that run, both level 50 Fly -
Quote:I was in the middle of testing using a Unai map from Orobros and had to leave to drop some salvage. I stopped by the boards while I waited for my portal to recharge. Upon reading Synapse's response; much like Bill and Earthwyrm, I'm done with testing. Too much time being invested just to be told "It's all in our heads". But here is what I had from my limited run.Same.
It's real and it's consistent, but not across characters/accounts in a way that we've been able to isolate the common factor.
+0/8 man spawn Bosses no AV's
/whereami: Server: Victory Zone/Mission: OUTDOOR_RUINED_02A
160 Ememies defeated
22 Insprations
14 Salvage
2 Enhancements
2 Recipes (level 50 Accuracy and Defense)
Also when Synapse said "I then went through this mission 5 times internally and 10 times on the training room". What does internally mean? Was the testing not done on the actual live servers? What kind of toon was the testing done with? I recall sometime ago seeing a dev toon in game that had every power listed. I'd like to know if the testing was done with a normal toon or a "super" toon. -
Quote:Hmmm I wonder if the issue I've been seeing is a result of doing testing using radio missions as opposed to normal missions? I'll run some Unai Kemen missions tonight.Nothing special here... I used the Battle Maiden map and a did few runs on the Behemoth map just to shake it up when I got bored. I had one other toon -from a friend's account- with me getting PLed (which is definitely changed with i16).
I'm sure there could be a problem with the drops, but I had some kind of great day yesterday. Maybe, everyone experienced reduced drops because I was getting them.I love i16!
If there is real data, I'll believe it because I know my sample size is so small, but right now I'm not seeing it. -

Quote:It looks like you had some premium drops but I'm sure you had more than just the ones you listed. What were your drops like during your farming? Last Friday I farmed for 1.5 hours and fought close to 500 badguys. In 3-4 hours fighting 8 man spawns I would suspect you killed a 1000 to 2000 badguys?I know my personal experiences over the last week or so are in no way conclusive, but yesterday was my first big playing day since i16 started. I've customized some powers and did a couple or respecs to pick up some new epic powers, but I've done only a little actually playing. Yesterday, I played most of the day.
What I did:
I farmed for about three-to-four hours, 8-man spawns.
I did a quick ITF.
I did three Ouroboros arcs.
I did three radio mishes and a Steel Canyon Bank mish.
I did a MoSTF.
What was dropped:
A Hecatomb dam/end
A Unbreakable Constraint hold/end
A respec recipe
4 Tempered Readiness recipes (I'm collecting them for a pair of ice blasters.)
It was, perhaps, one of the most productive days, in terms of drops, I have ever had. I can't tell you if drop rates are borked or not, but they don't seem to be so to me. On the MoSTF, I got the respec recipe, someone else got another good recipe, and there was little else. Sounds about right to me. -
Quote:Agreed. Certainly not in the post Statesman CoH era...The devs aren't against farming; they're against using exploits.
At no point during closed or open beta was there any mention by any dev specifically of drop rates in connection with setting multi-person spawns within missions as part of your difficulty level. And I'd like to think that our devs aren't so stupid as to completely forget to mention something important like drops not scaling with spawn size being intentional, namely because of the sort of outrage we're seeing now.
