I tend to always pull large groups in that room (and similar ones) to just outside the door. It's easier to group them all up and lay debuffs down as well as getting out of LoS. I stood back for a second and thought to myself "Are they really just going to charge into that room?"

In PvE you can get around a jerk and continue PvEing, because the jerks are separate from the content. In PvP the jerks *are* the content... -
I'd PvP if the rewards were sufficient regardless of the mechanics. Right now it's just not worth it IMO. That 10 minute cool down on top of the rare percentage for a recipe drop is nonsensical.
Then there is the issue of certain sets being close to useless in PvP, sadly they make up a majority of my toons. -
Quote:Good point... Here's a reason you shouldn't make a defender... Vigilance! Recall the Defender LGTF we were on last Saturday, not once did my inherent kick in. Other reasons not to roll one include, low damage, low hit points and the overall sidekick feel. But the pretty bows I can pick..........
I do hate redraw. For some reason, I keep thinking it wouldn't be *that* bad. Which means I'm probably subconsciously ignorning facts and it will be awful.
Will have to take a look at psy then, and throw a build together to get an idea.
Thanks for the comments though NONE OF YOU are adhering to the topic of the thread
Castle did say that he was going to take a look at Defenders, but as far as I know he did not elaborate on that, so we are left to guess what changes he has planned. I'd wait until I here more from him. Well that's not really a reason NOT to roll a Defender as any changes will more than likely be improvements either to the AT or specific sets. -
Quote:That's true the Ice Shields last a lot longer than Speed Boost does, which for the life of me I can't understand why they don't up the duration for SB. That would allow Kins to take a more active part in fighting rather than constantly buffing.Would be my first "buff" defender, as my others were mob-debuff, including Kin (but would speed boost consistently).
I can't stand taking powers I'm not going to use. He'd do his buffing thing when available; gotta do something to break up the piddly damage.
Wouldn't think the redraw of arrow would be too bad, since the buff part would be broken up pretty consistently? Buff first, click debuffs, shoot a bunch of stuff. Next group, click debuffs, shoot....next group, start over? Haven't looked at either build yet, but that's the image I have.
I'd still pick Psy or Archery though as I think the Psy secondary effects would mesh better with Cold, plus Archery is mostly S/L damage. -
I have a Kin/Psy Defender, that secondary is pretty decent for damage unless you fight robots, though the -recharge IMO is a moot point in PvE. Psy does more damage than Archery however I believe the damage/sec is higher on Archery than Psy.
I also factor in redraw when putting together toons. I would imagine that Cold/Archery has redraw where Cold/Psy wouldn't.
I'll assume you plan on playing the toon aggressively so how are you planning on surviving? Defense, resistance or a combo? I can't test this out now, but I think you might be able to bump your positional defense easier with Psy.
Whatever you decide to do, I just hope you aren't one of those non-buffing defenders... -
Quote:I'm using DM as my primary. If every bad guy had energy attacks there wouldn't be a problem, but since most don't and it's a pain (if at all possible) to use bonuses to cap the other resistances that whole set = suck IMO. Everytime I log him in I shake my head and ask myself:Heh someone PM'd me this.
What primary are you using? So far, only lightning rod is keeping my push to 50. Elec attacks = good. Elec armor = meh. Though I've found him more fun/survivable on teams, regardless of support. The faster stuff dies, the less chance of the mobs having their way with me
#1 Why did I roll him?
#2 What were they drinking when they threw that set together? -
I'll be on tonight for a short while. I'm probably around 36ish after missing two weeks. I just hate Electric Armor so much I can barely get motivated to play him.

Quote:Blah I always forget they changed it from 35. No worries I found out last night that I previously agreed to accompany the GF to a birthday party that night, although for the life of me I can recall no such thing.EnigmaBlack - LGTF is 45+.....
BurningBear - Yeah, I think we did start awhile after 930. If you were hovering over Mr. Imp, I'm pretty sure I sent a tell but never got a reply. You were gone a couple minutes after that though.
I'd love to *start* at 9PM, but I just don't think it's ever going to happen. I can't get on before then and get everyone joined to actually start at that point. The closest I can shoot for is 930PM, and that's with me getting on sometime after 9 and hoping there is enough interest/people ready to go. It usually goes a lot faster if the interested parties use the forums then relying on PUG/Globals. Once the team is full, it's on.
Again, I don't think this Saturday is going to go any faster, but hopefully after that, it'll be more fluid.
Good luck guys, and if I happen to weasel my way out of the party I can bring along a kin or a dark instead. -
I should be able to run this with the same Rad/Sonic he is 43 now and may be 44 by Saturday.
-
-
I wouldn't mind running some of these. If I'm around Saturday evening I would love to join with my 42 rad/sonic. He's an all defender ITF (ran at 50) vet so I know at the very least he won't hold the team back.

Happy Birthday Sheik and Struder... Hey that sounds like the name of a sitcom...
-
Although I'm still trying to rack up funds on Enigma Sauce; I still have my lvl 50 Dark/Ice, Kin/Elec and Plant/Rad on Victory so if you need me to help let me know via Warrior chat; I still have no headset for my MacBook.

I haven't gotten a chance to play any of the 6 toons I transfered to Champion yet. They are all toons I've "retired" but I would like to see how the population on that server is.
The only story I have is that I should have done a name check before the transfer. I transfered my Dark/Dark defender named Eternal Rest only to log onto Champion to find him named Eternal Rest1. Although I like the name it's not a big deal as I hadn't played him in over a year.
So my advice to you kiddies is don't be a n00b like me, do a name check before you do a transfer! -
Two of Victory's nicest guys celebrate their birthday's on Saturday.
So happy Birthday to StellarAgent and Desmodos!
May you see many more!
P.S. there should be a birthday cake or a pie emote... -
I'm iffy for tonight. For some reason Cablevision decided that between 7PM and 1AM my Internet connection will only work at snail speed. It's so bad I don't see my powers actually activate until 5 or more seconds after I click them. Then they decide to appear like toggles with the swirling circle around them. And rubber banding? It's more like sling shotting back and forth. To make matters worse I don't even map server I straight up crash. Sigh
-
I plan on moving a crap load of toons off of Victory to make room for new characters. I'll probably only keep 6 level 50 toons; 2 defenders, 2 scrappers, 1 controller and 1 favorite toon.
Now to find a new home for them... -
-
My fluffy slotting usually depends on how I have that toon slotted and what the secondary powers are. My Dark/Dark is good on to hit debuffs so I focused on accuracy and healing (1 Acc 3 Heal 1 Recharge) on my Dark/Ice I slotted fluffy for to hit debuffs (1 Acc 2 To Hit 2 Heal 1 Recharge). I use generic IOs as I previously never used set IOs in Defenders (Just not worth the trouble in most cases IMO). But I am planning on reslotting my Dark/Ice and considering six slotting Siphon Insight for the ranged defense bonus.
-
As stated above it does work, but doesn't fire off routinely enough to make it worth it IMO. Procs in taunt auras are a good idea conceptually, but practically they don't work well.
I had the Gaussian proc as well as the Triumphant Insult and Perfect Zinger procs in Invincibility for a concept scrapper a long time ago, the results were less than ideal but I kept them slotted for nostalgic reasons. -

Didn't come across this in 'Search"
I started to encounter issues a few months ago where I would reply to a thread and then not be able to view it any longer. I would click on the thread link and it would attempt to open in another tab but the entire page would be "blank".
At first I thought it was a Firefox issue as that is the only browser I use; then I tried in IE and Safari, all with the same results. It wasn't until yesterday I tried viewing one of these non loading threads when I wasn't logged into the boards... when I tried this it worked.
This morning after I contacted the site admin I decided to browse the forum display settings. It turns out I had my "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" set to 500, when I changed it to 100, the threads would display properly.
Not sure why the 500 setting would cause the thread not to display, but for any others that may be having that issue, you may want to try to adjust your display settings. -
There are several reason's why I pay for multiple accounts.
#1 Extra storage, for some reason I can never have enough storage per toon or market slots and I refuse to build a personal SG base; having a second account doubles that for me.
#2 Power leveling, I get to PL my new toons to Stamina at which time I decide whether to keep them or not.
#3 Transfering, having multiple accounts makes it easy to transfer items/money from toon to toon.
#4 Farming, ties into #1 but running "farm" missions while dual, tri, or quad boxing means all your recipes are belong to me!
#5 Sever limits, it's a lot more difficult to reach the server limits with more than one account. It also allows me to have a variety of toons ready for specific tasks.
