Quote:This!Fortunately, I20 will help with that. My understanding is that, presumably assuming your "native" level is 50 and you have your Alpha Slot unlocked, you will get Shards even while exemplared.
I'm pretty sure that's a welcome change to folks regardless of their preferred approach to TFs.
(I just wish it was already in place now that we're getting Sister Psyche for the WST.)
I know I must be missing something or not getting the whole picture because for the life of me I can't fathom the reasoning behind the decision to put Sissy P as this week's WST. Not when there are still a few level "50" TFs to cover. -
Quote:But then there are the disconnects some folks always seem to have during the other raids. I shutter to think of the lag that these multiple teams will cause. The lag may also end up preventing players from completing all stages of the event due to lag death and/or too many mezzes. I'll always join if someone like Masque or Madame P is forming one and needs one of my toons. Aside from that, much like the Hami and ship raids I'll pass even though I'd love to take part.Raiding has finally come to City of Heroes! The Devs can call these whatever they want, but this is a RAID.
I'm less bothered about this than I thought, but the turnstile system eases some of the pain. -
Quote:Not knowing the mechanics I'm not sure how much of a win this is. How will the rewards differ for a player that spends a majority of their time buffing a 48 man team as opposed to a player with 3-5 AoEs? Think a non slacking Kin or Emp versus a Fire blaster. It sounds like it will also punish those leeches by reducing their rewards.
Win. Win.
The Kin or Emp is busy buffing/healing me which is a crucial part of the encounter/survivability, if I go around spamming Fireball and RoF will my rewards be greater? -
Interesting news. I only have two problems with this:
#1 The constant mapserver disconnects when the server is "yellow"
#2 The horrid lag when 20 or more 50s get together with all their effects/capes etc -
Quote:The problem isn't with the build. The problem is between the chair and keyboardNow I'm wondering... if folks used to do this on SOs, how come a lvl 50 SS/shield brute with a set of purples (as evident in all those Ultimate bonuses in the info window) and alpha slotted T2 still can't survive 3 heroes in LRSF? This was the lead brute in the LRSF that my MM was in, and after 5 team wipes in Atlas, we had to call it quits.
If it is possible to do it with SOs, how come a multi-billion, T2 alpha slotted brute can't hold agro? -
That's nice! Not on my list, I think I'll wait and see what the "Steampunk" pack looks like, but this is really nice. I know players with animal themed toons will be very pleased!

Quote:I don't agree with the difficulty being a reason for the Well to take "notice" of you because future TFs/SFs will also give Notices. My logic may be flawed, but once the level shift is applied TFs like the ITF will be much much easier and the Well will still "notice" me for these much simpler feats. The cynical side of me says they chose the STF and LRSF because they are some of the least ran level 50 TFs. There were probably more people running those TFs this week than the entire last year.I think the STF/LRSF was the absolute BEST choice they could have made. It was almost an obvious choice. Both from a story standpoint and given the developer's goals.
Picking a 'difficult' task force, but not one of the Incarnate ones, gives a good story based reason why the Well is taking Notice of you and it provided MANY players their first run at these TFs with scripted encounters.
Quote:Well, the good news there, is that the 100 merits will be most welcome!
I missed speed runs though, so thank you devs for helping bring them back! -
Quote:And so have I, but was it a PUG? I'd bet it wasn't or at least the core wasn't and had enough -res and -def already. Can't speak for DSorrow's team, but I have personally completed it with such a setup and no temps. So, nope, nice try, please drive through.
Quote:Edit: heh, I just noticed you followed that comment with an entire post saying the STF isn't that hard and doesn't require specific ATs. Make up your mind already.
Quote:By the way, I managed to get on an STF very easily with my Scrapper. There was a Stalker on the team as well, and nobody suggested either of us should stay out of melee with GW. I was /SR, can't remember what the Stalker's secondary was, but we took her down pretty easily, and her healing wasn't an issue.
Personally, I decided just to wait until the ITF and Khan TFs are on the menu. They at least don't have the "Must have Tankorz, Must have healorz" stigma. -
Quote:8 Scrappers with nukes, shivs etc.STF has been completed by a team of eight Scrappers. Your argument is invalid...
People have a stigma that you need a tank on the STF. Preferably a stone tank, and they try to shy away from too many melee toons because of GW (hard as heck to get on a STF with a scrapper). When in fact some scrappers as well as some controllers can tank him effectively. Then there is also the option of just ignoring him and taking out the towers if you have enough support.
These TFs are a lot less complicated than players make them out to be IMO. It is for this reason I think it wasn't the best idea to make them the first WTF. A better choice would have been LGTF or ITF which all 4 alignments can partake in.
On the bright side, at least it's a level 50 TF/SF and not Sister P where you lose access to your alpha and higher tier powers, and have no chance for shards/purples. -

Someone mentioned that yesterday I can't recall how many times I typed /gmotd. The severs were up I'd say about 9AM EST I was off work so I was on then. No pop up message came up as of 3ish yesterday. I'd rather have the info before hand, but I probably won't be off any Tuesday's anytime soon so I guess it doesn't matter

Quote:I think most people in game yesterday morning found out first through trial and error then passed it on to the player base. As usual the patch notes took a long time to come out, had to be 4 or more hours after the servers went live. I'm hoping the weekly WTF is announced sooner in the future or if we can get two weeks advanced notice like this week.To be fair, some way to tell which the WTF is currently would not have gone amiss. I know it's the STF and RSF this week, but I only know this because other people told me, who only know because other people told them, who only know because apparently someone found out through trial and error.

Quote:My MacBook says different, but I've learned since I19 to expect lag and crashes anytime the server is status is at least yellow. So it's par for the course as far as I'm concerned. The bugs in this particular release were bad. But it's hard to claim that the lag for this release was any more or less significant than most any other new release I've seen.
Quote:The Devs have bent-over-backwards to make 98+% of this game solo-friendly and the one time they focus on a team-oriented feature people scream bloody murder like the Devs "never pander to us soloers".
I'm not suggesting the design decision to make WSTs team-oriented was good or bad, but I will strongly suggest that the "soloers" of this game strongly overreacted to a situation that will likely, once again, be warped/twisted towards their unique playstyle in the long run. -
Quote:Yummy! That new flavor is lagalicious! Crashtastic even!To me this game has become like an ice cream store with (for the sake of argument) 19 flavors of ice cream. Yesterday the "store owners" just introduced a new flavor. Obviously everyone's going to crowd around the end of the store where the new flavor is kept and there will be shortages/problems with serving it until everyone gets used to dealing with it. But eventually it'll become just like all the other flavors: some people will like it, others won't. Time will move on and sooner or later the Devs will give us yet another new flavor to choose from.
I see the introduction of the WSTs as no better or worse than any other newly introduced feature.
We'll have to adapt to it just like anything else. *shrugs*
A new issue or feature always brings out more players, however I somewhat agree with the OP about focusing on one/two TF a week. Zone lag is ridiculous.
The devs should have also considered that not everyone wants to team or has the time to team and should have considered solo rewards instead of making that an after thought.
On the bright side... Welcome back speed runs! -
Why not Dark Armor as a use of Dark Matter and/or Dark Energy? Personally I don't like the set but conceptually it might work.
-
This happens to me whenever I am on TFs and the server is yellow. This all started happening after the last issue was released. You can contact support but there is nothing they will be able to do to help at that moment. By the time they respond your TF will most likely be over.

And I thought this was a fart contest! That's right up my alley!

Quote:That's part of the new booster called "The Pigeon Pack"Dev letter just came out with a picture of an eagle-headed hero. Boo-yah!
Seriously though, if they have an option for a real out of combat pet like a dog (Shiba please), cat or bird then I'll buy it, I'm not really into animal heads but I know a lot of people are. Hope they enjoy! -

After hearing about your run in with Hamidon I can only say one thing...
"Only Hamster..." -
Ahh didn't know that, but I can certainly understand why they are allowed. Does this also extend to other temp powers such as O portal, Ninja Run etc?
-
You can't use temp powers on a master run.

Quote:My guess is the next tier will cost two uncommons, one common unless they release "rare" components.Same. I'm expecting the very rare boosts to cost a ton of shards and components.
Anyways I don't think it's a waste at all. By choosing the nerve boost you may be able to free up another power or two. I picked up Nerve Radial on my DM/SR, this allowed me to drop the leadership pool and pick up the presence pool. -
I've never been big on PvP, but the times I have PvP'd I've had lots of fun. I even made it to a few Victory server weekly PvP events. I know some people have taken issue with the PvP mechanics in the past, but lack of rewards is what keeps me away from it (drop rates, cool down timers etc). I've never been the "bragging rights" type so when I look at PvP vs PvE, I'd rather be out playing content that gives me a chance for purples, salvage, merits, vanguards, XP, INF etc than content that gives me a very slim chance of a recipe with a extremely long cool down time, no merits/vanguards/salvage and decreased XP, INF. But the devs can't please everyone...
