QFT. I have a set slotted on a scrapper because I liked the recharge bonus, it only heals 67 points on my level 50. Sad indeed.

Grimm doesn't stand a chance for survival, it's on NBC a station that is notorious for canceling shows mid season and/or never wrapping them up. I won't even waste my time watching shows on NBC anymore.

    Heroes
    Southland
    The Cape
    The Listener
    Kings
    Outsourced
    Outlaw
    The Event
    Chase

And the list goes on and on...
  3. Just about every reply you will receive will have a different suggestion.

I would have to suggest going Super Reflexes, it's a pretty easy set that requires a lot less attention than the resistance or regen sets. It's also easy and relatively cheap to slot up to reach the defense cap on Ranged/AoE/Melee. Red Fortunes, Serendipity, and Gift of the Ancients are cheap defensive IO sets and you can always use plain IOs.

SR is good paired with Dark Melee because SR lacks a heal of it's own and Siphon Life is a staple part of the attack chain. You can also get Aid Self, but to be honest, on the SR's I have Aid Self on I rarely use it.
  4. Interestingly enough, although I am VIP and my account auto renewed, I'm not listed as a VIP on the boards, but I was previously. Go figure...
  5. I used to be one of those players. Now I'm on the fence, the two things that keep me VIP:

#1 Waiting for staff fighting for 3-4 years since it seems that it may be on the horizon that is an incentive for me to stay. Hopefully my couple of dollars a month will help push it along.

#2 I always forget to cancel my accounts before the auto renewal. Then I get so caught up IRL that I forget later on.
  6. Wow seriously? Rehashing existing temp powers for 400 points? My hats off to whomever purchases this.

Also why wait until the 1st to release this? Wouldn't it have been better to release it with the Halloween event?
  7. Interesting idea. I'm not sure how I feel about changing the heal, I don't use it too often because I don't have OG so I can't comment on that.

Two things I think should change that would make DA a better set:
    Cap Negative Energy resistance
Allow me not to waste time creating a costume that will be obscured by the set's powers.

    recipe drops

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with free play or not.

I have two VIP accounts, when I solo farm on my main account I usually average 20 or so recipes per run. When I dual box, whether it's with another 50 or a lower level toon, my recipe drop rate tanks to about 10-15 between the two toons. I also noticed I would average one purple per 4-5 runs while solo, I've only gotten two purples in the last 15 runs while dual boxing.

Not once in m post did I complain about the UG trial. I said I refuse to play it as Keyes ruined my appetite for the new trials.

Why take my squishe through it when I can unlock the same slots, get the similar rewards in less time and with less confusion?

    The way I see it.

You ran Keyes in 30 minutes but I'm sure a majority if not almost all of them were level shifted or had a few incarnate powers already. That's a very different experience than you would have of you ran it with Alpha only or no incarnate power unlocked toons. By removing the E merits from BaF/Lambda, players would flock to Keyes and UG. When ill equipped incarnates or toons without Alpha want to run a trial they will have to run whatever trial has the bodies. I've been on BaFs with such teams and they weren't a walk in the park, I can't only imagine attempting a run at Keyes with such a team makeup.

I play mostly squishes on trials and Tfs because debuffs are usually more in demand than any of my scrappers. After a few runs of getting one shotted and trying to keep up with other players running around the map I gave up on running it.

I have never played the UG for the exact same reason you listed.
  12. After years of ignoring the set despite seeing players such as Des pwn mobs using DA, I have to say it's my favorite resistance based set. My Spines/DA is now my farming toon of choice and I like the set so much I'm thinking of making something DA on my second account too.

The only thing I don't like about DA is the stun aura, this is because as a scrapper my toon has no taunt and the double damaging auras cause mobs to scatter enough as is that I don't want them wobbling around.

I also like the idea of capping it on Negative energy resistance.

Same here. Besides if there is one negative effect redraw has it's on my immersion.

Yup, I tried to check out StJ on Beta when I had the time in my schedule, but I'm a Mac user so I got bent over. It's for this reason I decided to pass on spending 800 points on something I might not like. I'm going to horde my points for Staff fighting and/or Titan weapons and cross my fingers that Mac users won't get shafted in beta when those come out.
  17. When I had time to play on Beta and the patience I couldn't get into the store to purchase StJ (Mac user here) so I'm not going to spend 800 points on a set I might not like. But more power to you guys that are purchasing it. I'll save my points for Staff Fighting and/or Titan weapons.

I understand why they priced it at 800 points instead of the 650 sale price, I mean if there is anything that this community lacks it's self control over the new shiny stuff. As far as it going on sale, I assume that if people don't bite on it for 800 points they will put it on sale, but probably no time soon. Could you imagine the outcry from people that spent 800 points on it only to have it go on sale shortly after?

Cussing players for asking questions, berating people for asking for a farm or team, cracking on costumes, names, etc, etc. Folks this is plain and down right the most foolish bunch of garbage I've ever heard. We all pay our fifteen bucks to play the game and to play on this server. If you don't like someone that you don't know from the next man (unless you actually do) then stop being rude and quit giving folks a hard time for no reason. This is not that special of a server at all folks, it really isn't. Sure you pay to play on it whoop-tee-doo, does that make you entitled or special? Mmm sorry but no, it doesn't at all. I myself have personally not encountered any of this but I'm just taking a stand for those that are. Enough of the foolishness folks. Its just a game and if you weren't aware, everything we do in this game is recorded so I'd hate to hear someone got banned for being reported because it can and it will happen.
You mean the Exalted server is just like real life? Who would have thought?

I don't like the suppression so I won't be using it on any scrappers. I'll just use it on defenders and corrupters.

I apologize if you thought that was a jab at you or any of the other folks trying to help out. I appreciate the work you guys have put in and shared even though you didn't have to. I honestly think you guys need to be rewarded by the people behind the scenes of CoX because in the end this is their mess that may not have been an issue had they listened to Mac users and included us earlier.
  21. Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else consider these workarounds to be ridiculous? After a long day of work and a few added hours of school afterwards, the last thing I want to have to do when I try to relax and run a few missions is fumble around with getting the game started.

If the fixes coming later this week work, then we should still have plenty of time left for the Headstart to take advantage of the discounted prices.
I totally misread Zwill's post. I had thought we would have access to the market but with the garbled text. I see now we won't have access at all.

What I can't fathom though is why they are setting it up so we have two big downloads in one week? Is it because of the head start?

I have requested regular updates regarding this and expect to hear confirmation this afternoon sometime. I'll let you know as soon as I do.
    • We believe we have addressed most, if not all, of the text issues in the Market. That's the good news. The not as good news is that we were unable to work these fixes into the release (i.e.; tomorrow's) build. This will go into the first publish following the release of i21, which should hit live servers sometime later this week. It will hit either Training Room or Beta before hand, so I'll update when it's in a test environment so everyone can check it out.

I do apologize that the Market issue is not going to be addressed prior to launch. If you wish to hurl insults at me, please commence at your convenience.

    Thanks

Because of the text issue with the Mac client has there been any thought given to players that may purchase something accidentally because they couldn't read the text? I'm not sure how bad the text issue is because even after the work around I could not get my client to access it at all, I still got the assertion error.

    Edit

Okay I totally misread the post. I didn't realize we would not have market access at all tomorrow and the patch MAY be out sometime this week. To me that makes no sense at all. Why give us an update only to have a big patch later during the week? Why not fix the problem and release the fixed issue next week? Unless this is just a way to pacify MAc users and a fix really isn't on it's way?
  24. Being nostalgic over the old costume is nice and all, but let's face it, this movie is for the youngin's. Young people respond well to these updated looks and it's their attention and money they are after. Just look at Spiderman, Thor, Captain America etc etc.

For every old school adult that won't see the flick because of the costume there will be 5 teen age girls oggling over the fake cuts and bulge, scores of boys emulating this Superman, as each generation has their own. And to top it off they throw in a little Russell Crowe for the older ladies.

Not to mention the biggest factor, merchandising. If toy history has shown us anything it's that alternate or updated versions of heroes is big money.
  25. I'm not sure why people regard Samuel Jackson, Al Pacino and Robert Dinero as top actors, IMO they play pretty much the same character in every film (heck the three of them are interchangeable really), but then again I guess that's a problem I have with most actors.

As far as making a personal list, I'd be hard pressed to find 10, let alone 20 that don't fall into the above category. But I will say this much, I can't wait for the day Jeffery Wright finally gets some credit for being a top notch talent.

And there is no Paul Giamati either...
