If you ask change the powers in a powerset so that they are just like other powers in other powersets, what you are really doing is just asking for those other powersets to have an alternative animation or something.
IMO because of the interrupt of Trip Mines the "situation" it suits best is the situation of having teammates that are willing to wait around while you lay them. I'd go as far to say that's nearly impossible in today's game (Incarnate levels).

Granted levels 32/35 depending on AT up to pre-Incarnate 50 is a different story, as you'll find players with weaker toons take things a bit slower, but how long will they wait around?

What I'm asking is why does Trip Mine have a 4 second interrupt which you can not reduce and 5 second cast time? Shouldn't the cast time be enough? If anything eliminating the interrupt would make the power more useful IMO.

Try telling that to a group of +1 Incarnates running normal content or +3 running iTrials. In the 15 or so seconds it takes to lay 3 mines (assuming lots of recharge) the team would already be on the next mob.

Also, the way enemies run away nowadays traps IMO is almost a melee set as that's the only way to get a sure debuff. I won't even rant at how long it took me to setup traps on an ITF yesterday only to have Requiem run... what a waste.
  3. As far as Trip Mine goes, it has a 4 second interrupt and a 5 second cast time, maybe I don't see the big picture but if it takes 5 seconds to plant it, why have the interrupt time? I recall way long ago something being said about the longer a power takes to cast, generally the stronger the power.

Specifically with Beam Rifle I don't understand why it even has a snipe power since snipes are considered "out of combat". The mechanics of Disintegration work with Penetrating Ray by spreading disintegration to up to 3 enemies that are already effected. That almost seems backwards with Disintegrate at 80 ft and Penetrating Ray at 150 ft...

Time bomb is probably the most useless power in the game, even more so than Whirlwind.

If anything it will make defeating mind washed prisoners more difficult as they will run by while you're setting up Time Bomb.
  5. This is a build I was working on, it needs some tweaking but I wanted to use cheaper IOs than I tend to build with (No LoTGs)

  6. When my family asked me for a Christmas List I had nothing to give. Point cards would have been perfect!
  7. Some of my favorite toons are Traps toons. I have a Traps/Sonic defender and a BR/Traps Corruptor. Although I find the traps portion the best part of those combos, I rarely use them while teamed. Why wait around until I setup traps when the team can steamroll through a mob in a third of the time?

Thank goodness there are occasions when mobs won't go down quickly such as iTrials. However using traps is still a pain, onLambda/Keyes the AV's move too much to set traps on TPN the constant pulse damage outside make setting mines difficult. The BaF is actually one trial that using traps is a real help, from the prisoners to the ambushes. I've only run the other two trials once each and I was too busy trying not to die to pay attention to what else was going on.

If I could only throw mines like Director 11...
  8. Quick and dirty answer to why there are so many "bad" movies today... people don't demand better. If you can serve up crap and make millions why bother being creative and/or unique?

Nowadays, a Hami raid is about the time it takes to get a group together and kill enough monsters to spawn Hami then kill him. That's it.
    /Agreed

We did a 10 man Hami raid on Victory (No nukes, Heavies etc), took about an 1 hour 15 minutes, in that same amount of time PvPing I wouldn't have gotten squat worthwhile.

I'd rather run Shard TFs back to back then PvP as the extremely rare chance for a drop AND the timer all but makes PvPing a waste of time, unless you're sleeping...
  10. I'm having a difficult time finding the words... My eyes are even welling up. DC was and will always be what I think of when I think of a "Tanker". No matter what the task I always knew my personal defeats would decrease once DC was on the team.

So many good times man. My heart feels heavy right now...

I thought I'd at least give it another go despite having mostly defense based toons and seeing all my work in building them go down the drain once I zone. This way at least no one can say I didn't try. I literally felt sick after a few minutes. The last time that happened was when the Sonic bubble set first came out with it's headache inducing graphics.

I'm not sure if it was because my toons are pretty much drop bait for everyone else in zone or the terrible mechanics of PvP (talking about you defense/heal decay). Or maybe it was because in the time I was wasting my time PvPing I could have ran a Council Empire map farm 1.5 times.

I've been saying this for awhile. If the devs really want players to PvP, at the very least they would remove that ridiculous timer if not make them drop more frequently.

As a player that loves rewards there is no way I'm going to PvP for an extremely rare chance for a drop AND then on top of that have to deal with the timer.

I wanted to pick up two +3 defense PvP IOs so I decided to try my hand at PvP last week. After about 15 minutes I was disgusted and went back to PvE content. At least with that I have a better chance to get a purple in the same amount of time (got 2 on Saturday morning within 2 hours).

    Vintage is in.

Anyways the best part about this film will be creating my own dialogue, which if anyone knows me will raise the rating to NC-17 at least...
  14. TopDoc!

    As always good info Doc!

I was going to PM you last week to ask if you found any issues with purple drops (Hadn't gotten one in 70 farms set to 8 after the patch before last) but didn't know if you were still playing, now I see what you've been up to!

The cynical side of me thinks with the timers and CoX going F2P we're quietly being encouraged to create as many accounts as our rigs can handle and farm for PvP recipes.

I guess I know what I'll be doing in game for the next couple of weeks...

Devestaion proc perhaps? I've been wondering how that works with Seeker Drones seeing that I have hold procs slotted into Poison Trap and Acid Mortar.

Lambda doesn't bother me too much because there is a pause period before the AV encounter. It is especially annoying during Keyes trials as I'm on a squishy trying not to die I have to scroll through my long list of powers and drag it to an open spot somewhere.

So while I like the concept of having to use these powers to complete the trials, the implementation and mechanics of using them could be a little more user friendly.
  17. I use them to take the alpha. First I lay a couple of traps, then spawn the drones on the mob. While they are attacking the drones I have a few seconds to lay some more traps in the path they will be heading, then I hide around a corner

Slotting in my case is usually for to-hit debuff. I prefer a 4 slotted Could Senses.
  18. Worst movie ever made? Probably not even close, especially after seeing Jack n Jill and witnessing how far Adam Sandler has fallen.

If anything, poking Snookie in the eyes is worth the price of admission...
  19. I rolled a BR/Traps Corr a couple of weeks ago. Here is my opinion of the set at 50:

Lag: There are many times when I trigger a power, the mob dies and then I hear the sound. It's not a big deal, just annoying.

Disintegration: Although this is only anecdotal, it does appear as someone else stated as if it only spreads once an enemy is about to die anyway.

Piercing Beam: I like this power, however I don't like that it only targets 3 enemies. It costs more, has a longer recharge and does less damage than Cutting Beam.

Overcharge: Nice power like many if not all the T9s, however because of the lack of recharge from the AoE IO sets it isn't up as often as I'd like it to be (68 seconds for me).

    /rant
While I'm on the topic, devs please we need more than just the 5 AoE sets, 1 being PvP the other a purple. Air Burst is darn near useless, Detonation is only tolerable because it's cheap, Positron's Blast is worthwhile but expensive as the only "normal" IO set alternative.

With that said, overall I like the set so much I even rolled a Rad/BR Defender but I have him parked for now. I think I will bring him out once Staff Fighting comes out if I can level pact the two toons.
  20. Although I'm a huge SR fan I'd have to agree that the damage res is very situational. By the time it kicks in it won't matter unless you're only fighting minions.

In addition to the damage res when taking damage, I'd like to either see recharge increase (Without stepping on Energy's toes) or your defense itself actually raise.

  22. The resistance scales once you start to take damage. It is available from Agile, Dodge, and Lucky.

    From the wiki

"This Damage Resistance is only available as you lose Health but it improves as your HP declines"

    Big Trouble in Little CHina

Adventures in Babysitting (Which "The Sitter" reminds me of)

    Tango and Cash
    Maniac Cop
