  1. I've used it once (which is 20 daggers in 'one' power right?). I found it very helpful to solo EBs/AVs on my Claws/SR brute (low 40s when I used the daggers). I was surprised at how much toxic damage it does to the AVs/EBs (hundreds of damage and not a piddly -1 or -2 dmg ticks). It's really helpful when you know that the EB/AV is about to hit their "godmode" power (especially someone like Valkyrie) to lessen their annoyance factor.

I'd say the best of the new temp powers would be:

Recovery Serum (all around useful and not just for a certain mob type)
    Envenomed Dagger
Hand Grenades (again pretty surprised at how good the damage is (on my brute that is))
  2. When playing EI (Kin/Rad Defender) I usually try to keep the team buffed but I usually just say, "if you need SB/ID please say so."

And when there is a kin/* or */kin on the team, if I'm on a toon that is an end. hog...yeah I'll definitely say, "sb please". In one sense I hate doing that every time SB runs out (because I know how it feels/looks like if I keep begging for SB) but on the other hand...if my toon is running out of endurance because either end. drains or just plain ol' attacking too much....well I don't like standing around doing nothing.

And in general terms, if I'm on a team and there is a FF or Sonic or Thermal or any other buffer toon and they aren't buffing anyone...yeah...I usually have an issue with that. Like the one person said in the OP's team...if you have a group/ally buff and you're not using it....why did you get it?

    My 2 influence.
  3. He just forgot to also mention that regen was nerfed again.

Ah that is most likely it. When I was on with EI, I had Acrobatics, Tactics, Assault and Mind over Body toggled on. I heard the sound effects but didn't see any graphics/animation.

However on the other char I did see the graphics/animations on was when I didn't have any toggles on.
  5. Mutation: Heightened Speed power

Operating System (Vista, XP, OS X version): 7
    User Client (Mac/PC/Linux): PC
    Emote: N/A
    Server: Training Room
    Zone: FF
    Character name: Energizing Ion
    Time: 9:32 AM EST
    Location: Founders Falls
    Archetype: Defender
    Critter Type: N/A
    Level: 50

Bug Description: I used the new Mutation power. I received the Mutation: Heightened Speed power. It says it boosts movement speeds but looking at the real numbers/combat attributes window and it doesn't show any Heightened Speed power buffing me; and I don't seem to be running faster. /bug'ed this in-game as well.

  6. I put my bug for the Dimension Shift costume change emote in the Bugs thread but that was for costume pieces...but...didn't see a "Bug" thread for the costume change emotes....hope it's the right place for it!

But everything seems to be okay (except for Dimension Shift not working on Energizing Ion).

I would say the ;showoff emote needs to be slowed down a bit.

Edit: I just logged in another character and the Dimension Shift costume change worked fine....so now I'm curious why it didn't work on EI >_>
  7. Dimension Shift costume change emote not working.

Operating System (Vista, XP, OS X version): 7
    User Client (Mac/PC/Linux): PC
    Server: Training Room
    Zone: Founders Fallls
    Character name: Energizing Ion
    Time: 9:25 AM EST
Location: Tailor store/outside it in FF
    Archetype: Defender
    Critter Type: N/A
    Level: 50
Costume Set or Piece: Dimension Shift costume change emote

Bug Description: When looking at my costume slots for EI (have all 5 unlocked) and select "Dimension Shift" as my costume change emote and then click on another costume slot...there is no new animation....after about 5-8 seconds it just changes my costume to the one I clicked on. All other costume change emotes seem to be working fine.

  8. Thanks for the pics Dr. Mechano.

The first set looks more like a fish/scaled costume set....not too appealing to me. The second set looks nice but...*shrugs* not totally my tastes...maybe the wings though
  9. Neat-o....will have to try it out tonight/tomorrow when I get home from work!

    Email options

With i17 and the new email system I'd like to see a new "Email to..." option when you right-click on an inspiration, recipe, enhancement, etc...

    That's all.

  12. Eeep...I have to claim the IOs I sent to my one villain then before I lose 'em

This definitely should have been mentioned when the system went live.

I.e. a look away from the target with the head and a bored snap of the fingers to execute the power for example? Think of it applied to a mass hold power. [EDIT: Okay okay--I remember, no fingers in this game. BUT you get what I'm saying. It's all about the nonchalance.]

    Yes to this!

Anyway, I've been here since the first day of closed beta. I still see a lot of 72 monthers around.

GavinRuneBlade kind of answered this but I'll give my own reason why my best friend (whom I worked with and got him into the game) gave up on CoH.

He was tired of the same mission maps over and over and over and over again. I couldn't really fault him for it because I don't like it either but...I guess it's not as a huge a deal for me. The highest level character that he got to was, I think, lvl 35 or so.

Oh and he never liked "wasting" power choices (like getting Swift/Hurdle, Health just to get Stamina). I remember on one of his chars that he made (a Katana/Invuln (I think) Scrapper) he was having endurance issues (duh) and I said, "well you probably should get Stamina...it helps a lot." Then he does the, "well I don't want to waste 2 power picks to get it." Again totally agree with him because it's like, "hooray I leveled up, I get....Swift... >_<"

Yes, you don't "have to" get Stamina but....anyways....don't want to derail the thread anymore than I did
  15. Been here since the 2nd to last wave in CoH's beta. It's been an awesome time/game, that's for sure

I know I've played other MMOs before this one and after playing WoW and then CoH...I've said it before but I'll say it again....I don't think I'll ever play another fantasy-based MMO again. They're all the same and just...yeah....bland to me.

As Samuel_Tow mentioned...I'll touch on again. I saw CoH's User Interface and fell in love with it. You mean I can move stuff around and customize it to the way I like it without installing 3rd party apps or know how to program in XML (ie. WoW)?!?! Sign me up! And this is before all the lovely things like chat tabs/global channels and other various UI improvements over the course of 6 years that have been put in the game

The thing that threw me off at the very beginning was the health/endurance bars were on the top-right and not on the top-left like most other MMOs. But...now I'm used to it

Insider references for things that aren't related to the game, like all the Oban: Star Racers characters in Gaussian's arc is one thing. It bugs me, but it doesn't detract from the game... Much. But characters that are pivotal to the game's plot and whose background actually matters should be given characterisation IN the actual game.

I realise it's comic book tradition to not know what the hell is going on unless you're reading twenty spinoffs and ten tie-ins, and there's a reason Linkara uses his Continuity Alarm, but one would actually think those would be BAD things in need of fixing, not good things in need of perpetuation. I bought City of Heroes for the game, not the written novels, so I would appreciate it if game-important information were put in the actual game. Is that too much to ask for?

To be honest, the real reason signature characters get so little characterisation is because they're almost entirely used as TF contacts, and TF contacts don't get much characterisation, anyway. I don't see why Positron, for instance, can't give out slightly less epic (read: forced teaming) missions in addition to his TF. Might be nice to get to know the guy first, especially since doing a TF and following a story seem mutually exclusive in this game.

This is one thing that has always bothered me about MMOs. Asheron's Call 2 was a fun MMO (played it when it first launched till it went bye-bye); however, that game, just like this one doesn't have a whole lot of the story lore IN the game. They have websites, comics, books, etc...but not actually in the game itself. I always found that kind of silly....if you want to read about a character that you are getting missions from, go online and....wait what?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be online but just needs to be in the game as well.
  17. 2nd team completed the ITF but no badge. 2nd tanker on our team died from all the ambushes on last mission.

Was still a good run though.
  18. From my limited experience (I have a few lvl 50 Corrs but haven't teamed up with random peeps too much lately) the least prevalent sets are as follows:

AR, Energy Blast and Dark Blast
  19. I got a brand new PC put together as of about a week (two?) ago. I got the Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium version. So far everything is good
  20. I have a lvl 50 Fire/Earth Dom that is perma-dom. I do like him but he doesn't have a whole lot of AoE punch. I have the AoE Immob., the Fissure power (not the one where you jump in the air PBAoE power, the other one) and that's it....well I have the AoE blast from the Mace Mastery APP.

He's fun to play and he was/is my 'farmer' to farm things with until I get my Claws/SR brute up to 50 and IO'ed.

    Edit:

And yeah as others have mentioned it is a pretty endurance-intensive build/combo. I went for all recharge mostly...I do not have Hot Feet or Mud Pots (which was one of the reasons I made the combo but found out that putting all the dmg procs in the 2 powers was 'not worth it' in the long run). I used a good 3-4 respecs on this toon trying to get things right. I probably could be better in defense numbers but...not going to touch it right now....it's 'good enough' for me at this point. With Hasten up (which is perma I think or close to it) I have 203% rchg bonus.
  21. I've posted this in other topics about the same question but yeah I collect them for the most part.

However, on my Claws/SR Brute, I have used the Recovery Serum and the Hand Grenades. The Hand Grenades power is actually pretty powerful/useful

I've never had Dr. Vahz. run away from me/the team. He has only called an ambush once. I've done Posi. part 2, two or three times (I want to say 3 times but...not 100% sure) and again, no issues with him running away/calling ambushes more than once.

I'm not saying I mind a challenging encounter... I just expected to be rewarded for completing it. The old posi was easier, took less time, and offered a much better reward for the time you needed to invest.
The old posi was (is?) only 'faster' for speeders...for PUGs/people doing it for the story/whatever reason it was really long and very tedious. I think the rewards are pretty close to what they should be for both parts of the new Posi. TFs. Maybe they could be increased a little bit but not by much.

    My two influence...
