Quote:Off the top of my head, Fearsome Stare only uses the Negative_Attack vector. The only powers I can think of with one single attack vector that haven't been mentioned are a few of the Kinetics powers, which use Ranged_Attack, and therefore don't meet the criteria for the question.
Yeah I've always noticed when playing my main (EI Kin/Rad Defender) that even when an AV goes into "godmode" (Elude/etc) and no one can hit the AV, I can usually land Transfusion and Transfusion 90% of the time.
In fact, thinking about it...I think I can land Siphon Speed, Siphon Power and FS as well....but not 100% sure about the last 3.
But yes, like others have said, it depends on the build/powerset(s), but usually if you can't get softcapped to Melee/Ranged/AoE most just softcap to Smashing/Lethal damage types since most-to-all attacks have some Smashing or Lethal damage component to them. -

That my friend is awesome!
Haha, if we had that much snow (like we did last year) schools/the gov't/most business would be closed for a good week...maybe 2-3 weeks
Ah got to love places where it doesn't snow a whole lot reacting to it....just as long as you stay off the roads (drivers don't know how to drive!) -
I have my DP/MM Blaster (lvl 50) that I could bring...but...only nights I have available are Sat/Sundays...which atm aren't really free because of football!

Not that I'm pointing fingers but personally I feel the downfall of the IOP/base raiding system was a far most serious failure in the history of this game than the current fate of the Gladiator system. I'm willing to let both of these missteps pass away as interesting footnotes to an otherwise excellent game. *shrugs*
I'll agree here.
I liked the SG base raiding (at least in thought). Sure it was annoying/stupid at times with the bugs/exploits that could be done but if they could have fixed those and just worked on bases in general I think the game could be even better than it is now
PvP (zones) needs to have an objective more than "kill him before he kills you". Recluse's Victory was a shot at that but...not so much... -
Well I tried a few more things (un-installing drivers/CCC and re-installing/etc...diff. ways of doing it) and still have issues as far as frame rate/crashing goes (at least for one of my toons (Magmificent)).
I have turned on manual fan control in the CCC and turned it to 75% instead of the 40-50% or whatever it was at before.
There is an "Auto-Tune" button in the CCC ATI Overdrive section and when I clicked on it, it hung (didn't finish)...I was able to do other things (open programs/etc) but the Auto-Tune program/test just hangs.... -

I frown in Imperial City when I see new people standing next to the store for so long. That menu listing every origins DOs should show DOs the player can use at the top of the list.
Ah yes....that's why I make (have made) all my characters the Magic origin...Magic is at the top of every store (well....ones that aren't origin-specific).
I remember having that issue and someone mentioning on the forums that they always made their toons magic origin because of that and was like, "wow....good call."
Sure it's not a huge deal now for me (most) since there are IOs but...still.
But as per the topic...I think Liberty has seen some higher than usual population...can't say for sure since I've been sick and haven't played lately as well as my odd hours of play time with my night-shift job -

If you had the chance to try to convince Positron or the other devs to try to resurrect the Gladiator system, what changes would you suggest they implement to make it more appealing?
Well as far as the Gladiator system itself goes...it's like almost anything else, "What's the point?" Sure it can be 'fun' or even 'funny' to watch NPC mobs fight each other but...as others have stated some mobs always win (or have a greater chance at winning). What is the point of it? No rewards for anyone (well except for Arena Heal farming if that bug/exploit is still alive).
I suggested a long time ago that a new MM primary could be used in conjunction with the Gladiator system in a way. Basically the primary would be a 'mimicry (soul stealing whatever you want to call it)' set where you use a power to "steal/copy a mob" and you get a temp power then and that temp power summons your henchmen. So if you used the copy power on a Longbow mob, you'd get a Longbow minion mob (for the minion summoning power that is) and so on and so forth.
I think it'd be hard to work out because, yes, there would be instances where the MM wouldn't have any pets to start the fight with and it'd be a very "offensive" set but...*shrugs* I liked the idea
As long as they don't add a badge (or badges) for "watching" gladiator battles...I'm fine I guessHeh, I could see it now, "You received the "Nothing else to do" badge by watching 100 glad. matches!"

Yeah, I just logged on to play a little bit on my Magmificent toon and he is now crashing every time I click on the 'Contacts' tab/window again.
I get the
Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
error message in the Windows Event Viewer. I've un-installed the CCC totally and that didn't help.
Looking online with that error message some people have seen voltage changes help with the crashing....but I've never done anything like that before so somewhat leery about doing so....but this is really annoying -
Praying for you and others in Australia...never heard of this until I read it here (then again I don't watch the news so
).

As I posted in the Liberty forums about this....(paraphrased version)
I like it so far -
Quote:Ditto what G69 said. I would like to run this one day, I just am having a hard time getting on board with my schedule and what not. Congratulations though!!!
xoxo!
P.S. - if I don't get this badge soon, I am going to hit up all my friends for this as an "online" bday present!!!!
If this works let me know....I'll have to be online to make sure I'm a part of it...EI needs the badge too -
I watched all of the 2 hours and thought it was okay.
SPOILERS below!!!
Like I said I liked it but as someone else pointed out, it seemed to skip around a lot (ie. just go through things 'fast')...for example when Chess ordered the henchmen to get the head Carnival guy (forgot name already) the next scene is him beating the head Carnival guy...just kind of skipped the whole process of bringing him in....like how did they do that, etc...
Things like that are a bit annoying but I guess I know why they did that (trying to get to the 'point' of the story without 'wasting' 3 hours).
The one villain I could do without is 'Scales'...they could have just named him differently and/or just not have done the whole 'face/body disfigured' thing...just too 'tacky' for me...
Overall, I'm still recording it...it has potential.... -
Welcome Second Measure!
Congratulations to Ghost Falcon on his promotion!
And thanks for the two tidbits of info. that were 'new' to us (the rare/very rare Alpha slots opening up in a few weeks and the double xp weekend coming). -

Yeah, I've played DCUO as well and while it's better than CO (but really, what isn't?), and the graphics and environments are good and perform remarkably well, there are other console games that do the game play much better, and the character creator is laughable (I couldn't believe how bad it was-- your character is even pigeonholed into a specific origin/backstory).
SOE managed to screw up yet another strong IP. I get frustrated when I think that they got the rights to arguably the strongest comic IP of all time and this is what they did with it.
Here's hoping Marvel goes with a more PC less console approach (but I don't hold out much hope as every MMO developer and their brothers seem to be aiming for consoles these days).
I'd have to agree here... -

Brief reflection on previous year, pleased with GR and i19.

(I'm starting the year as I mean to go on, cynical!)
Cynical you may be but most likely 99% correct.
When has any of the "State of the Game" addresses actually given real information about new things coming? Maybe there is an exception once or twice when we knew we were getting x feature so they said it was coming in the SotG address. -

Hmm....well, okay an update or two here...
So a few hours ago I was having an issue with only one of my toons (Magmificent, a lvl 50 Fire/Earth Dom.). Whenever I clicked the Contacts tab to open it up I'd lock up/freeze and have to ctrl+alt+del kill CoH. Then I could never log in to him again...if I tried to, I'd lock up.
So I have been in contact with technical support about my frame rate issues and mentioned my toon was 'stuck'....they forwarded the ticket to the GM team to move the toon but mentioned to me to try to launch CoH in safe mode to see if I could move the toon myself.
So while waiting for GMs, I tried and sure enough CoH Safe Mode worked...I moved Mag. to a diff. zone to see if that'd help, log out, back in (not in safe mode), click on Contacts and 'bam' lock up again...
After a few times of going into CoH Safe mode to move Mag. around I got an email from GMs saying, "we moved your toon to pocket D (paraphrased)."
During all of this I did that disabling of Catalyst A.I. as well as checking the "triple buffering" box in the CCC settings.
I log in to Mag. in Pocket D...and instead of clicking on contacts right away I wanted to test frame rate issue. So luckily I have one mission saved on him (Freaks and DE mission in Grandville (saving actors one)). Load the mission and away I went (diff. setting was -1 x6). No frame rate issues (or at least nothing like it was before hand)!
So now I'm feeling lucky....I click on the Contacts tab....wow, I didn't crash!
I finish off 5 more tip missions (plus the morality mission) on Mag. and had no issues! (beyond little hickups/whatever that is/was 'normal' for me).....
Now to see if it holds up and doesn't revert back to icky nasty frame rate issues....time for a TF to test it out too!
Edit:
Well I just finished an ITF with using my Magmificent toon. It was okay...still have some frame rate issues during some instances but in general it is at least slideshow slowness instead of slideshow death. -
Hmm...well this was interesting...
I right-clicked on the CCC icon in the sys. tray and there are 3 'options' or outputs listed (all listed as ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series) and looked in the first one (since I only have 1 monitor plugged in), then looked in '3D Settings' and Catalyst A.I. was set to "Standard" even though if I open up and look in the "All" settings it has Catalyst AI disabled and the xml file has it disabled too... o_O
Clicked on 'Disabled' in the menu selection....now I wonder if I'll get anything better
And I'll try the triple buffering if it doesn't work -
Random question about CCC/ATI cards...
I looked in the settings to make sure the Catalyst AI was disabled and it was but I saw another option that I was curious about...
"Triple Buffering" was the last option and it was not checked...should it be? -
Quote:Indeed, so now I'm back with the 10.12 drivers...It is almost like every person with the issue needs a totally different solution.
Just solo'ing and it's an issue (depending on what toon/how much aoe I'm using it seems; and sometimes no real aoe attacks are needed....). -
I think some people mentioned the "bloom" settings in the graphics and options inside CoH may help (if you lower the setting). I could be remembering wrong though.
You can always try random things like lowering environmental effects down to 0 and see if that helps, then try particle effects, and so on....
Wish I could be of more help though! -
Well, no luck...did what you suggested and I actually had a hard crash this time (usually don't crash...just my video 'freezes' to 1fps for a few seconds).
I did what NCsoft wanted me to do which was un-install all drivers/CCC software, then go to safe mode, run driver sweeper then install the 10.9 drivers (no CCC software).
Did that and just ran a Citadel TF...still having the issues (even with Shadows off).
le sigh. -
Quote:Just did an ITF. Crashed once, nothing happening on the screen. Disabling Catalyst AI and dropping shadows to NONE made for a lag free experience.
The AI being forced on for the new cards is part of the issue, but there is definitely something going on with shadows with the 10.1x drivers. Everything else is maxed out completely, but I hit shadows at any setting other than none and I drop to less than 20fps.
Okay, for those with the newer cards, here's how to disabled the Catalyst AI manually:
Create a profile (i'll explain that if you need it)
Leave everything at default settings for that profile.
Close CCC.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Users\username\Appdata\Local\ATi\ACE\Profiles directory - you must have hidden files visible.
You should see your newly created profile listed there as profilename.xml
Right click and EDIT that file.
Look for this line:
Code:<Feature name="CatalystAI"> <Property name="CatalystAI" value="Enable" /> </Feature>
Code:<Feature name="CatalystAI"> <Property name="CatalystAI" value="Disable" /> </Feature>
Right click on your CCC icon in your tray. Choose "Invoke Preset." Select your newly created profile.
After this, delete your checksum and flush your DNS according to Renn's instructions.
As I said, dropping Shadows to disabled seems to make the most impact on performance in the game.
Hmm, I'll have to try...I usually don't have shadow on high/ultra just because they're not a huge thing for me but....will try it out!
