  1. I know this won't "prove" anything to some but I think it somewhat funny (in a sad way) when some say "just set a price and then just be patient"....okay sure that's all fine and dandy...

I've had a bid (canceled it yesterday I think) for 1 Alchemical Silver for I think 50k or 75k (too expensive for my tastes I think but it was 'cheaper' than the "buy now price" of 150k to 500k).

Never got it...even after I did at least 2-4 runs (which is about 2-3 salvage 'full' trips with my toon to the market) with my Claws/SR Brute getting ~1,300 AE tickets in a few mins and doing all common arcance salvage rolls in the 26-40 range and selling everything I got for 11 influence; again, the cheapest I ever saw the Alchemical Silvers being bought for was ~150k.

Yes, I did just email the silver to myself but...how long should people 'wait'? Glad I wasn't bidding what I would expect to pay (25k at the most).

    /grabs popcorn...no wait...I don't like popcorn....*grabs chips*

    ...

I remember when I saw the trailer for that and was like, "hey he's not black in the cartoons (okay so I only watched the Spider-Man cartoons and remember King Pin being white guy but still )."

After watching the movie, yes I agree I think the actor did a great job and fit the role well...as far as he was 'black' and not 'white' like in the comics? meh...I never read any comics so it didn't bother me 'too much'.

    No, just no.

Yeah...the two 'most' boring TFs I ever remember doing with my toons is the Moonfire TF (nothing but caves of wolves and vampires...woo... ) and then Citadel. Council cave maps all the time!

But I will say that until they get shortened/revamped, the Shadow Shard TFs take the prize for "most boring" because of the repetitive nature of them (defeat 50 x, hey congrats!, now do it again! ). When the "speed" versions take 2-3 hours...uh...yeah....boooring :P

I do love the artwork in the Shadow Shard and some of the maps (usually the last mission(s)) are fun because they're a little different (mainly because of the end AV); but overall? ick....no thank you.
  5. At my job now I don't play CoH at work I do surfing/forum stuff though.

At my first "real" job (after college) I used to play CoH often enough....especially during the last 1-2 years that I was there.

I remember one week where the boss went to the Exec.'s office in Milwaukee for a whole week....played CoH about 90% of the time that whole week at work

In fact, that week, my friend (also co-worker) played with me sometimes....and then when the boss called in to ask what we were doing/how things were going, "yep...busy...those workstations are still updating..." >_>

Edit: And like others, when I did play at work I usually just solo'ed. If I did get into a team I made sure that they knew I was at work and could go afk for extended periods of time.
  6. As others have mentioned; it's about the reward for me (and most likely others).

When I'm doing it for 'fun' I don't mind kill-alls/kill-most. But now that there is that shiny count badge of "help out with the weekly strike targets 50 times"....I "have to have it" as soon as possible.

So...if I'm doing it only for the reward (counting towards the badge) I want to do it as fast as possible; nothing else matters to my main toon (he doesn't need shards or merits or xp (since he's 50 ) or whatever....just want that badge).

So when I can do an LGTF in 22 mins (fastest I've ever done it)...yeah...I'd rather do speed runs of a TF/SF than kill-most since that is usually anywhere from 3-5x slower than a speed run.

What I 'hate' is (now it's not too bad because LGTF isn't the strike target) when people say "speed LGTF" and then I join and we start out and then...nope it's not a speed TF....it's a kill-most Ugh....1.5 hours later....false advertisement! :P

Good trailer and I'll be seeing it in the theaters!
  8. Pretty much agree with what ZP said...I was in the CB for DC:UO and...I think I played it for like an hour...maybe 2-3 hours at most....that was it :P
  9. I was on a team once months ago where there was a Stalker in the team and I noticed he kept getting held/disoriented/etc....then noticed in his build he didn't have his mez protection power.

This stalker also had Whirlwind....and used it (sometimes to start the fight with a group of mobs).... >_>

I did /tell him asking why he didn't have x power (forgot his secondary by now) and he thought it didn't do anything but I told him, "it stops you from getting held/etc"

    Lets see, shall we?

    1) Endless ambushes? Check!
    2) Homing, stealth ignoring ambushes? Check!
    3) Ambushes that drop NOTHING for defeating, making any inspirations used a complete unrecoupable waste? CHECK!
    ...

Yeah I /bug'ed that mission in-game as well....

When I did it on my Stalker (yes Stalker....yikes!) and once I stepped foot into the mission...AMBUSH! 20-50 Syndicate mobs on me....oh...how nice...and they always come after me no matter what? oh ...nice...

I have always thought ALL the mobs in Praetoria have too high perception because it always seemed like they could see me farther away than most mobs in CoH/CoV.....annoying.

The worst part is, in GR beta some of these ambushes were worse if you can believe it....

But yeah....the "Hunt down Shen" mission....grr.....

Again as others said, if this was for lvls 40-50 or so, then it might not be a big deal (or as big of a deal). But when you're only like lvl 12 or 15...need some endurance help (as well as health )....*shrugs*
  11. It looked 'good enough'....

I never knew who Nightcrawler's dad was....in the 90s cartoon (the main thing that got me into X-Men I guess) they always said Mystique was the mother but I don't remember any episode saying who the father was (in fact I kind of remember an episode where Nightcrawler and Mystique talk about how Mystique is trying to find the father (not for emotional/sentimental reasons I think).

And come to think of it....that episode I'm thinking of, had a normal human being as the father because when Nightcrawler was born he was blue/etc and that's what got Mystique 'uncovered' as a non-regular human being...*shrugs*

    ^^^^ This x a billion.

I think I'll like these raids/trials but....the normal times I play the most populated global channel in Liberty sometimes only has 20-40 peeps in it...and really only 10 or so people talk in there....*shrugs*

    We'll see I guess

Et cetera. They're never going to break out of these roles on a permanent basis, because the stereotypical roles are the concept behind the entire enterprise. It's N'Sync in spandex.

There's nothing wrong with that, but it's not my kind of superhero show. I hope it does well with its intended demographic.

Don't all these shows have at least one or two episodes where the 'dark' character is the 'good' one and that 'wisecracking one' is the 'dark' one? I mean the only one I can think of right now is the Power Rangers TV show in the 90s...you'd have at least one or two episodes where x ranger tries to do everything by themselves because "this time it's personal!" but of course they get smacked down and realize "it's good to be in a team...thanks guys!"

Although you're probably right in the generalization that they won't break-out of their 'molds' forever but...*shrugs*

I haven't seen any of these episodes except for the pilot ep.

    The Cape 2/7/11

Overall the show as good but like the others mentioned already, "sitting in the same spot for x amount of hours after the drone was taken out?! really?" got to me (and my dad) a bit heh....
  15. Looks interesting...can't wait to see it in action!
  16. Okay, so my boss and I were talking about the first black super-heroes and I verified that online (most say Black Panther)....

But who was the first black super-villain?

I tried wikipedia/etc but to no avail....help me my fellow comrades!

    This...

I did two Kahn TFs last night in a span of an hour (maybe a 1-3 mins. longer than an hour).
  18. Yeah, the SB commercials were really lame this year.

I think the 'best' one was the Snickers commercial (the one you mentioned FatherXmas).

Doritos' ones were definitely stupid/sick/weird/what have you...

But yeah, I talked to my brother (who was working last night) and said, "the best commercials have been teasers/trailers for movies...Thor, Captain America and TF3."

Although I'm not holding my breath on TF3....even in the trailer there was a lot of 'action' but it was moving so fast you couldn't see what was happening (one of my bigger complaints in the TF movies but especially in TF2).

    Edit:

Oh and just thinking about it now but in the Cap. America trailer (and posters) it has "Avenge" in it; getting people ready for "The Avengers"?
  19. Very nice, I just downloaded it and installed it!

I know my friend/sgmate has been waiting for this

    Edit:

Of course, thank you very much to all who made this possible

Ooooh...yeah that's not very clear to me. I did notice that the scroll bar was able to go down but never really had that 'light bulb' moment....

I was always curious why they had us get the two middle rares to get the very rare Now I know!
  21. Okay now that the rare/very rare alpha slots have been opened up on live it looks like the graphs on the GR site about the Alpha slots is a bit misleading.

If you look at the GR Incarnate Alpha slot website: http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...lpha-slot.html

You see that the graph show that you need to have (in my case I'm using the Spiritual tree) the Total Radial Revamp and the Partial Radial Revamp to open up the Radial Paragon very rare slot.

But on live/in the game that is not how it shows up. In the game the Radial Paragon very rare slot needs the Partial Radial Revamp and the Partial Core Revamp.
  22. Well what do you know...I spoke to soon

Ever since this new patch (the one to fix the lvl shift alpha incarnate bug) I have had frame rate issues. Today while playing I got into an STF and while waiting for the team to fill up I alt-tab'ed out to watch some youtube video that someone sent me in an email....

Low and behold, the video stopped working/displaying (audio was still going) so at first I thought it was some weird editing by the youtube movie/creator but...it wasn't....

Ctrl+Alt+Del two times before it finally responded and behold it was the "driver stopped responding and has recovered." Windows 7 error message that came up.

Had to re-log into CoH....and now having more frame rate issues again
