Quote:Devouring Earth infected Seers. You may begin screaming...now. (Very Half-Life-esque. I like.)
Also don't forget the Carnival of Light.
Yeah I saw those pics and I like 'em
The CoL look like they've been mixed together with Banished PantheonNeato...
And very much Half-Life esque Seers -
With the announcement of CoH Freedom (call it what you want, but it's f2p
), is anyone thinking of transferring to the "VIP only" server?
Obviously lots of things have not been mentioned yet like:
1.) Can we transfer the SG bases with us?
1a.) If not, at least the prestige?
2.) Can we transfer all our toons to the VIP only server (will there be more than 36 slots on it?)?
and etc....but...
I've always called Liberty my home and I'm sure most of the free players will be fine since they are basically glorified trial accounts (can't send /tells/form SGs/etc)....but....anyone thinking of either leaving (quitting for good) or transferring to the VIP only server?
In some ways I can see going to the VIP only server being 'fun' because there'd be more people there that know how to team/are fun to do so with. It may (or may not) be like a closed beta where everyone "knows everyone" and likes that people follow directions/generally has fun. *shrugs*
Food for thought. -
I thought we talked about this Leandro but...
Now you're going behind my back and making citizens ask for your money back?! It's not very clever when they have the same name as you! Don't think that it will work!
Yes, I'm bored and remembered this picture from a few weeks ago that I took to do this.
Anyone else have good NPC sayings? -
I like the idea!
I won't be able to get any of this fake money most likely due to work schedule but I like hide-and-seek hehe

My guess people are doing tip missions and those are more about getting them done quickly and then moving on. Why waste time getting a team involved for at best 5 missions? ...
I'll agree to this.
I know when I run my hero tip (or villain tip) missions I usually am just going for the A-merit (ie. "farming" them)...so I stealth/speed as much as possible (especially since I'm on my lvl 50, so no XP for them).
So I rarely, if ever, announce I'm doing tip missions because usually I'll get a non-50 and they'll want to defeat all the mobs for xp (understandably so)...but yeah....usually don't want to do that so don't do itNot to say that I don't invite some people some times but...for the most part, 5 missions and I swap to another toon to do 5 missions.
I know it was very weird on Liberty Sunday (after 2/3pm EDT)...no one was responding/talking....just kind of weird. Not until about 7/8pm EDT did people talk/form teams/trials. -

So I know that one of the Ageless powers grants +debuff resistance which is nice but if I remember correctly it didn't show how much of a +end/rchg buff it gave in the description; whereas the other Ageless t4 power did.
So I'm curious, what's the difference between the two (as far as the +end/rchg buff goes)? -
Take notes people! (for those that can't make it!

My main villain (first one on when CoV went live) is a Ninja/DM MM. He's lvl 50 and at first in CoV beta I had a ninja/poison....no way I'd do that live I said.
Ninjas need AoE heals and/or def buffs (FF, DM or Pain Dom. now). Ninja/DM isn't too bad but yeah....they are definitely squishy.
I remember one mission I was lk'ed up to an sgmate who was like 5-10 lvls above me. It was a mission with scrapyarders in it....yeah....AoE burn patches ate my ninjas up FAST. I was seriously respawning them as fast as the power recharged....it wasn't fun.
Beyond that it wasn't too bad. I solo'ed some EBs by myself (not sure if they were AVs or not to be honest).... -
Quote:The trials are fun here and there. What I don't like is how they in practice detract from running the rest of the rest of the game should, you want to bring your character up through the new progression that's been opened.
I LOVED the alpha slot sytem, even before shards dropped from lower SF's. It's message: "Rewards for playing different parts of the game, and here, here's a different SF each week to try." If you want a notice, don't like this week's target, you'll get a new one next week. Add in the shards for exemplaring, and you have an endgame that let's you also use the rest of the game, doing anything with your incarnate=progress.
...
Yep, I am in agreement here. Almost everyone in beta was hating the random rewards...but...they're still here -
Quote:I thought it was ok. Not on par with Batman Begins or the Marvel stuff but it wasn't bad. A thing that bugged me was Amanda Waller. It was really out of place.
Yeah I was curious why they had Amanda Waller in there...isn't she mainly a bad guy in/against Batman (or just the JL in general? I only know her from the JL/JLU cartoons).

So I just got back from watching the movie with a friend and I thought it was a good movie.
My friend, who is a big GL fan and a reader of the comics/etc (I'm not), said it was good but there is some nitpicks that are wrong in the movie.
Edit:
Oh and I didn't read any of the posts in the thread (except a few) but...I think the "best" origin story comic book/hero one is the Iron Man movie. Really, really liked that movie. If it had a longer fight (more drawn out fight) between Iron Man and the main villain (forgot his villain nameWar Monger?) it would have been perfect.

Quote:Well as a general rule/thing for me, I don't see PCs/keyboards going away anytime soon.A little background info first: I'm the low guy in the IT department at work, but every once in a while, I'm allowed a peek into the minds at the conglomerate HQ IT level. It happened this week when my local IT management relayed a corporate discussion about the radical IT changes they anticipate in the workplace in the next 2 to 3 years. They are discussing the rapid migration to mobile technology, in specific tablet hardware and what little we've seen and heard on Windows 8 so far.
My senior boss, who can sometimes over-emphasize things, was speaking to the rapid decline of the keyboard, and the embracing of touch screen and even voice-activated technology. His stated goal is to rid the company of desktop pc's and keyboards, switching to tablets as soon as the market matches the company needs.
All that got me thinking, where does the rise of tablet and mobile technology put the MMO market, and specifically CoH for the not-too-distant future? Will tablets become the computer of choice for the game? Will tablets begin catering to gamers, putting gaming video cards into their devices? Will we ditch hardware keyboards and develop a CoH touch screen UI? How will that affect our style of playing (chat functions, response time, etc.)?
As Tony pointed out there are just quite a bit of issues with tablets at the moment to completely replace PCs/keyboards.
I kind of chuckle when people plan for the future like that (this)...in some ways it's good but then you still have hospitals/etc sending your patient information/what not using floppy disks or just via modem transfers.
Yeah...floppy disks...yep, my first job (3 years ago) at a small medical billing company, the hospitals/etc were still sending stuff via floppy disks (with no password protection either if that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy)...although I think we finally got the last one to stop doing that in favor of SFTP but....there were still other insurance stuff that we sent via modem transfers....
Old stuff is old and there will always be legacy stuff that requires a serial port or...maybe in this case, a desktop PC with keyboard and mouse heh. -
Congrats
I did the 1 lvl 50 of each AT as well. Hated lvl'ing my PB up....hate, hate hate.... -
My main (EI) started in Galaxy City
My new alt just started there too heh.
Hooray for GC love!
Although to be honest, I 'hope' they're not doing a re-design of the whole zone...somewhat pointless unless there is something that makes people want to go there. *shrugs* We'll see I guess... -

This is a potentially awesome TF.....that I have sworn NEVER.....NEVER.....EVER.....to do again......entirely because of the disgusting Durays. Great content lost....very sad.
I've only done the Sutter TF once (for the badges on my main) and have sworn it off as well. Not just because of the Durays but other reasons too which I've shared before in other threads.
Edit: Oh and I'm not sure if the air strikes are insta-kill or not but I know the only time I did a Sutter, there was at least once or twice where I was coming back from the hospital and just so happened to jump/land onto a patch/air strike as it was happening and died right away (1,200/1,300+ dmg or so a hit)....so either it's the air strike or some random attack that I never saw before I got up there. -
I haven't read all the posts up until now but....
Watched the episode Sun. night (I think) and it was a good one
Of course as others have said before this thread that they thought River was Amy's daughter so they are proved right -
Well I hope you all are happy....I just made a new plant/storm controller today!
Edit:
Now my problem is figuring out how I want to slot the guy. I could go for lots of rchg so that powers recharge faster (LS/Carrion/Seeds/etc)....or I go for S/L def...then wonder which incarnate powers to get...Alpha; cardiac is always helpful for stormies....but...the spiritual might be nice for more rechg...and what about Destiny? Hmm, Clarion is probably the best choice for perma (basically) mez protection but....
Anyways... -
So only watched DW from this newest series (9th doctor being Christopher Eccleston?)....so...yeah at first I didn't like Matt Smith but now...hmmm I might just put him above David Tennant.

Quote:It was a narrative decision. If they had Eric throw something at Shaw, we would have seen that Shaw (as an old nazi) was a mutant early in the film. The writers preferred to leave that as a surprise, so that we got to know the main cast first and the villain later as a young businessman, which is how he spent most of the movie. The narrative goal there was to not confuse the audience with too many characters too quickly.
In addition there's a character point being made. Shaw dominated Eric for most of his childhood, which is one reason why Eric felt resentment toward him. If they had shown Eric attacking Shaw just after they met then their relationship would have seemed more even and would have had less emotional impact.
The writers handled this absolutely correct. Shaw appeared to be a crazy background character until the story got on its feet. After we get to know him, the early scene makes perfect sense.
I just got back from watching the movie and yeah that definitely 'got me' too. I was like, "why is the guy walking INTO the room with all the metal objects?!" Now I understand
Pretty darn good movie if I say so myselfEnjoyed it....although I didn't see Stan Lee...where was his cameo spot?
