Quote:Hear, hear! I'd love an option to turn off the effects (or change the colors of 'em) for Hasten and Super Speed.I never mind being quoted by a Dev.
I see where you are coming from, but I think there are really only a few big culprits. Those would be Hasten, Super Speed, and the Medicine Pool. These are the ones I can remember seeing the most complaints about.
I will be honest, I really HATE the hasten FX, it needs to be changed to something that can fit any theme, and not obscure the work people put into their costumes and concepts. Sadly, for some builds it is just too good to skip. I get that changing how it has been may tick some people off, I still think it is worth changing, and I know that is me being selfish.
Thanks for the answer though. I know you guys realize how important pool customization is to us, and I can only pray that it is being worked on in the background. We harass everyone we know to harass about it, care to give us another name to add to the list? -
Quote:I see it as a demonstration to many other players what I, in an East Asian timezone, occasionally have to put up with.
I never had any issues with the downtime and I'm in the East Coast
Granted, having a Dr. appt. in the morning then helping babysit my bro's kids then going to work and not getting back till 11pm (EDT) then going to bed...soo...no worries about servers going down for me
Sometimes it is nice to work the 2nd shift. -
Quote:Let's see, by that point they're either so unsavvy they have no idea what a computer is or they know for a fact their system is unstable. Triggering large zone events sounds like a brilliant plan in those circumstances. NOT.
Yes, cause once you pop in x hardware it all works and never has issues right? -

Thanks again for the info./write-up!

Ever think the devs did it on purpose?
How else to test to make sure servers are stable than to have everyone come to a certain spot (zone) and fight stuff?
Can't really leave the server up "in hopes" that it's stable... -
I'll try to be online tom. night as well as Sat. night...hopefully I can make it

Quote:So....if Justice has people that play during the time frame that you play on but you won't transfer toons there....umm...why are you complaining that you are playing on dead servers?yeah i have, but that server is not a good one for me and I won't transfer my favorite characters over to it either. It's just too bad they can't all be like that server. Thanks for a normal reply to me.
You now get free server transfers as a VIP (1 every month)...so it wouldn't cost you anything to move to Justice (or wherever). -

I haven't read most of the posts here but would like to say that I like the idea of unlocking contacts (or unlockable contacts that is); however, to be honest, I think the only unlockable contact that I have done villain-side is the Dr. Buzzsaw one.
That's a great/fun arc but the rest of them (Velveeta? and The Slot Machine)...don't think I've ever done them...
Why? Because I don't know the requirements to unlock them, it's not a huge thing if I miss them and usually the requirements are really randomly picked it seems.
I've said before, and I'll say it again, that there should be some way IN THE GAME to know what contacts can be unlocked and then how you can do so (specifically stated, not "I don't like cheap ghosts"....and we have to decipher what that means.).
I would like to see more but...again, need an easy way to know what to do to unlock the contacts (in the game; not paragonwiki). -
Quote:...Those that have issues going the wrong way, those that continually get caught in the beams, and those with poor reaction times should stay in the hospital and call out the timers....
I just want to point out that having the people that are poor/have poor reaction times might not be the best at calling out the timers for things....
I was curious about the Disintegration though...nice to know it's LoS based.
Does anyone know if the Oblit. beam is truly random on who it picks or is there some sort of logic behind it by chance?
I'd guess random but.... -
It'll be interesting to see these new "trials"...if they're anything like the new low level Sewer Trial then...I'm all for 'em! Hooray new stuff to do!
And...will be interesting to see this "every week something new"....obviously some weeks will be 'cheapies' with just some emotes or a costume piece or two....but....we'll see...
I want a new powerset every week!
Where's my Dual Archery Defense powerset?!?! BABs better not have taken that with him..... -
I haven't been able to play much lately but was playing this morning doing an ITF and someone mentioned red bars in netgraph...
I looked at my netgraph and no red bars for me...one other person said they saw a few but nothing bad.
I didn't have any lag at all (hooray for no-lag, lag-hill) until the last mission...for some reason was a bit choppy....forgot to check netgraph then though.
I have noticed when I was solo'ing a bit that in my real numbers mini-window I usually have the tohit bonus and dmg bonus being monitored on all of my toons...playing my kin/rad def...using Fulcrum Shift or Aim/etc....it would take a second (long enough to notice it) for the real numbers to update....just weird... -
Quote:While I've had significant.... issues.... with the new series; I'll agree that someone brought in by the new ones should go through those first and then start dabbling in the old stuff.
But I DO recommend giving the original shows a fair shake. Don't be put off by the old effects. The original series was made on a very low budget with VERY little time; and they still managed to put out some downright amazing material.
I never watched/heard of Doctor Who before until my best friend recommended it to me. I have Netflix so I watched the first 2005 episode with Christopher Eccleston.
At first, it was a bit slow and didn't quite care for the show....but by the end of the 1st episode and maybe the 2nd or 3rd show I was hooked
I liked Mr. Eccleston, liked Tennant more I think....and didn't quite care for Matt Smith at first...but now he's definitely grown on me...and probably my favorite Doctor yet. *bowties are cool*
But while I was watching the Doctor Who series my dad caught on and at first he said, "these new shows are too 'real'...effects are too good...where are the really bad cheesy effects that I remember being Doctor Who?"
He originally saw the 'old' ones and didn't like the new ones because of the good effects/etc....but now...after a few episodes, he's with me and watches them with me hehe. -
I like Skippy because he has Hightower in it....but also Zwill because he has Santana Moss....
Yes...I'm a Redskins fan -
It'll be interesting to see how long this feature will be out of commission.
If and when it comes back; I think they should expand it, anyone can lvl pact with anyone (that is VIPs to lvl pact with other VIPs/etc, maybe f2p players and premiums can't lvl pact).
I never liked the limit of "once you hit lvl 5 you can't lvl pact anymore".... 1 or 2 missions (and now 1 run of the new Sewer Trial most likely) and you're past the lvl pact range -
Thanks Wulfrich
A nice write-up and I appreciate it as well as the macros that you use. I know doing both the AtGS and LaC badges is very hard to do even if you type really fast! -
Nice, I was in a live draft yesterday with one of the coh forumites here...was my first real live draft....took an hour; maybe a few mins after an hour...
I kind of messed my draft order up a bit...but...I think I did good. -
Quote:CongratsFinally got the MO on my badger, so I can bring my 50+3 emp to any other attempts.
Quote:I know for certain that my fire tank can handle the old and unimproved A-M, but I don't think anyone would enjoy me bringing mine in "just to see" how she'd handle the new one, as a lot of effort would have already been done.
Other than the areas of green to avoid, and not crossing the plane of anyones opposite color blue/red spheres - what else is different about him?
I know that the new and improved Marauder has that nasty Nova Fist, but there's a warning about that - in the newly revamped Maria Jenkins mission, he's not nearly so ornery.
Wulfrich, I presume you're the one that tanked him on the one you led - any insight?
AM at the final fight is 'easy' (defeating him that is). All that he has is the following:
1.) Oblit. beam (green patch on the ground)
2.) Disintegration
3.) Atomic Blast (that "back away from AM" message; his 'nuke' power but hardly anyone ever gets hit by it)
4.) Entanglement (again, most people ignore this because it does so little damage/debuff it doesn't matter for the most part.
The only part where Entanglement comes into play is when the league is going for the Loves a Challenge badge. That little dmg over time is enough to kill the person being disintegrated (since the last tick of Disintegration does 99% dmg). So if you're being disintegrated then just make sure you're not next to someone that is a diff. color than you (red vs blue).
As a tanker, all you'd really be doing is just taunting AM and making sure he stays near the regen station that he should be by. Just make sure you're taunt doesn't have a chance for dmg proc in it; otherwise, that will not be the best during the 3 reactor phases. -
Quote:The 3 Destiny powers in question first add HP to the target, then applies a heal to that target.
Ah I see...so even though the mobs behind Imperious don't take any damage (well I know they get attacked randomly sometimes but...nothing serious from what I've seen); the +hp then heal makes it look like you healed them for x amount?
Interesting. -

I am the consummate don't-tell-people-how-to-play player. When I'm saying "lets just duo the son of a gun and get outta here" (we ultimately needed five) its crossed a line for me. And I'm not saying everyone who enjoys Keyes or even this specific badge is wrong: I'm just saying I normally cut the devs enormous slack, and even though I can do what needs to be done and I can do it repeatedly and I already have the badge so its a done deal for me, I think this one is, if not too difficult, then too difficult too soon for the playerbase.
...
I would agree that the 2 badges are pretty ridiculous to get at the moment. Maybe in the future the devs will change some things to make it at least reasonable to get them.
I know another thing that makes it hard is when people are flying/hovering...very hard to see the Oblit. beam if it targets a flying person.
And if they added a timer and/or the person who is being disintegrated to the trial UI, that'd help the Loves a Challenge badge out a bit.
Also if Time Freeze stopped all counters, that'd be nice too. -
Quote:Yeah I read bits and pieces of the topic throughout (and her post).I had people on the team that I know so well that could NOT, even after 200 runs (if they did it) still wouldn't be able to dodge the obliteration beam. It isn't a guess on my part.
I do Keyes instructional runs. And after 20-odd badge attempts, I switched to putting people in the hospital. If someone was still caught, everyone in the hospital were told to come out and practice.
During the 9th attempt after starting to send people to the bench (hospital), we got the badge with most players in the hospital. So, yeah, it worked.
And if you think I'm being harsh about this, I suggest that you read Arcanaville's take on it. I think she is far more qualified to rate this particular trial as she was a participant in most of the 9 attempts I ran this weekend.
One part I noticed from her post though:
Quote:The trial doesn't *force* you to sit people in the hospital; I'm sure its theoretically possible to eventually get sixteen people to get the badge while all simultaneously engaged with AM.
He was watching the clock and would say, "stop attacking AM!" when he was at 75 HP (or whenever that first Time Freeze is), after a few failed attempts, he changed it so that he did that "STOP ATTACKING" macro around 80 or 82 HP gave more people the ability to read and comprehend and then follow what he said.
We had about 14 (maybe 16 once or twice?) people get the 2 badges and when the leader (tanker) said "stop attacking" or something, we usually stopped attacking AM and disengaged him.
Don't get me wrong there were times when he said, "stop attacking and wait for oblit. beam" that we didn't stop in time and then we almost failed from the time freeze/disintegration combo....but luckily AM was just close enough to the regen station we were able to recover and get healed up/move away from the oblit. beam.
I'm not sure if I'm conveying what I'm trying to say but...maybe I should just say that I'm really surprised how fast AM goes down...there are a lot of times when we aren't attacking him and just are running around dodging the Oblit. beam.
We usually don't do pets either (even MMs; MMs can join the league and use pets; just not for the final fight since sometimes pets are harder to control) but we bring out pets (lore/etc) for the last bit of the AM fight (after he regens to full for the 3rd time).
There were at least 2 really, really close calls where Lore pets were attacking the regen terminals and blowing them up...heh...lots of KILL PETS!!! STOP ATTACKING THE TERMINALS! spam going up thenOne time a terminal had like 5 HP left (on the 3rd station too
).
Don't get me wrong it is obviously harder to get 16+ people to dodge the Oblit. beam than 12 and so on....but...maybe, explain that when Oblit. beam starts, just move out of the way and don't worry about attacking AM? Maybe you're doing that already but .... *Shrugs*
Edit:
Again, not trying to "talk down to you" as you are a fellow avid badger but...we have also said, "don't use long animating powers when you see the "oblit. beam in 5 seconds"" message (a macro from the leader).
We've had at least 2 failed runs because people were using powers like Hurl/etc and just didn't move in time. -

Quote:Just like the Banners in the Halloween Event.
I miss doing them. They were fun and required coordination among teams, and they carried a real possibility of failure, but they had commensurate badge rewards to compensate. I hope more people are interested in doing them again when October rolls around.
I never found the seasonal events to be much fun. Sure I did them but only for the shiny new badges. Once I got 'em, meh...don't really do them anymore.
Now if they increased their rewards with something that might actually make them worth the time....
