There was literally no way I could play the game for several months during that timeframe because I had no access to the Internet (or at least not the kind of access that would have allowed me to play a MMO while at sea). This basically means that since the few dozen people who would care about getting those badges already have them it's proven fairly difficult to organize any kind of a group that wants to bother with them now.

I'll probably eventually get them, especially once the next wave of Incarnate powers are released which'll make that trial even easier, but for the moment it's relatively frustrating. I don't mind hard badges but it sucks to have to rely on like a dozen or more other people wanting to work on them too. Oh well...

Yeah I agree; sometimes it is hard to get the badges after the "real badgers" get it after a week or so...

But it is possible; just might take a while longer

For that reason alone I consider Passport an "oddball" that doesn't technically exist (or at least shouldn't count on the major tracking sites) because I almost think more people have it by accident rather than on purpose. That's one bug I wish I got hit with at any rate.

    hehe yeah...

I've "learned" that if there's some 'bug' in the system to get a badge; you do it!

Like that badge where you could have received the Longbow Ballista 2 glad. badge (the one where you have to get 400 pvp rep to get a badge)...there was a bug back in the day that awarded that if you just completed a regular mission that was in the pvp zone(s)...

I was like, "meh, I'll get that one later because I'm working on y badge now!"

Man was I silly...1 mission that might have taken 10 minutes at the most instead of grinding and killing my toons (and a friend's toons) over-and-over for 3 nights until we got the badge...

And luckily I did get the MoLambda badges before they are what they are now....

I probably still won't actually want them, but as a matter of principle, this is very, very good to hear.

As for making pack-exclusive costumes available through other means over the Paragon Store... Sell them. Simply delay the sets by six months from the time they show up in the gambling packs to the time they show up as a regular purchase and then price them either normal or double. That way, people who don't have the patience of a saint will be inclined to try and get the pieces they want early by gambling on them, and people like me who have ZERO patience for uncertain returns for my money will simply wait it out.

Additionally, consider making these costumes available for purchase immediately, but restrict that purchase to VIPs only and release these costumes to Free and Premium players only in the gambling packs. That way, I have one more reason to maintain a subscription.

I agree with Samuel here on all points.

    And thanks for the communication

Same here. When I made my StJ Brute toon I chose Regen as a secondary since that was one of the ones I haven't done before. The only other secondary (or primary depending on AT) I haven't done would be Invulnerability....and..uh...well...meh to that

Would love to see more 'armor' sets.

I'll give it points for being WAY out of the box but it just sounds like a major chore to play and a seriously underperforming set. Click defense, click defense, click defense, maybe make one attack, click defense, click defense, click defense, maybe attack again and repeat. You either have no protection at all and are able to attack or you have protection at the expense of doing anything else.

Agreed on all points. It's a nice idea but...not really practical. If you're doing up against CoT, do I cast the "fire ward" to protect me against the Fire Behemoths or the "smashing/lethal ward" for the minions, or maybe the "neg. energy ward" for the ghosts/spectrals...

Now if they could somehow have the tech. to where you can have an actual "force field" where it makes the mobs have to "defeat" (take down/etc) the force field around you before they hit you, that I'd like.

Have a FF around you that had, let's say, 500 HP and that takes 90% (who knows, just throwing numbers out) and once that FF goes down; you take most (all?) of the damage.

That's what I thought FF would be when I first started to play the game in '04....but alas, it's not heh.

On those (fairly rare) occasions when I get "Targeted", I've never yet been paying quite close enough attention to remember if I'd seen a red message for the effect. I assume it chooses/warns targets first, then effect, but it is only an assumption.

That's why it bugs me having everyone crowd around the EWW with the tanks nearby. Even if it only ever selects taunters as targets, if the effect simply radiates from them rather than affecting only them, it explains how we get league wipes from LFA even when the EWW is facing away and taunted.

I do go on. But it's a fascinating (and dangerous) mechanic that I want to understand.

From my what I 'know', it does the targeting first and then the action (hold, fear or LFA).

The only other thing I've read about the LFA action is that the DoT just by itself does a good chunk of damage but doesn't kill someone by itself; but it does more damage if there are other people that are next to you that are also targeted.

I know when I first started to lead the runs on Sat. nights I was the "main tanker" but when the LFA happened; league (or at least team) wipes happened....most likely cause I couldn't hold the AVs attention even with taunt on auto.

The last two times I've been in a UG run; all tankers/taunters went to one side and the rest stayed behind the AV; no issues (we had some deaths but...definitely not huge league wipes like I've seen before).

But overall, FlyingCodeMonkey, I think what you're identifying is the delicate challenge that the devs had in mind. They wanted it to be a challenge, and they've succeeded.

    Agreed.

And to FCM, again I'm only taking a guess, I know in one of the last two runs where I was on a "squishy" and not tanking, I jumped into the middle during (after ?) the "Lethal Force Authorized" message popped up and I didn't die...I didn't have the shield reticule icon in the buff bar neither the "Targeted" red message below...so...*shrugs*

Just kind of a guessing game from me.

How many Incarnate powers can I have. I understand that I can have two, but can only have one slotted at a time, or active.

What Incarnate abilities are best suited for a tank, scrapper, troller, dom and so on, where can I find that?

I figured if I was gonna play these characters to 50, might as well get them Incarnate stuff too.
Well; you'll definitely get a lot of different answers for what is "best" for anything in the game....but I'll give it a go...

How many Incarnate powers can I have. I understand that I can have two, but can only have one slotted at a time, or active.

Technically you can make all the Incarnate powers available. It would take you "forever" to do so, but you could do it if you wanted to.

You can only have 1 active at a time though (whatever you picked/slotted in the "Equip" tab in the Incarnate Abilities/Powers window).

What Incarnate abilities are best suited for a tank, scrapper, troller, dom and so on, where can I find that?

What powersets are your toons and how do you play? Do you mostly solo, team or a mix?

With answers to that we can help you out more but...here I go:

Tankers: For Alpha....well with the new Alpha abilities I don't know...but I'd say either Cardiac for those end. heavy sets or Musculature would be best (for more damage).

Judgement: Up to you but...Void would be the "easy" pick because you have to be in melee range to hit mobs with it and since you'll be in melee range almost all the time..."easy."

Interface: Again, depends...but probably Reactive might be best (for more damage).

Lore: All up to you. Any pet option is nice.

Destiny: Again, depends on your powersets. Most likely Clarion wouldn't be a great choice; but it'd help for UnderGround trials. Maybe Ageless if you need more end. help or just to help against with the debuff resistances.

Apply the above to the other ATs really...Depending on your Controller; Clarion for the Destiny may be best (so that you are never held/slept yourself)....but again, depends on the build.

Hope this in a small way.
  20. I guess I don't understand how this benefits the RMT'ers...

They get the global name and/or local name...but...you can get that easily enough...especially since they most likely had to type out /gfriend @whateveryourglobalis

    I haven't seen this in-game myself but....*shrugs*

    I like the pic. though!

Hopefully they're taking that extra time to apply the lessons learned from Keyes: repeating the same action N times within a single trial (gather 30 temp powers, gather 30 more temp powers, gather another 30 temp powers) does not make it N times more fun.

Anyway, I never seem to have the right timing to check out new trials on beta. It's nice to know a little about this one before seeing it for the first time.

I will say it is a bit repetitive...which is but...meh, it's faster than Keyes I think (although maybe not now with only needing 6 terminals)....*shrugs*
