I have no idea what's going on here but I'll just leave some of these cheez-its here...

Quote:I guess....I like your story of how I made stuff up...so I'll stick to itIIRC, Elladan and Elrohir show up right after the battle in the book. Perhaps that fuzzy recollection along with the promptings of the movie corrupted your memory.
In my opinion, the battle at Helm's Deep was symbolic of the strength of Men (racially speaking), feeding into the ongoing theme of the rise of Men (and subsequent waning of other races) heading into the new Age. Having the elves at Helm's Deep took away from this theme.
In a similar symbolic vein, Faramir was supposed to show that Man could have the strength of character to rise above temptation. I feel that movies really mucked all that up (though overall I still enjoy them). -
Quote:Gloin was included, he was the one who was covered in webbing (apparently from the spider scene in Mirkwood.)
Gandalf introduced (in order):
Fili, Kili,
Oin, Gloin,
Dwalin, Balin,
Bifur, Bofur, Bombur,
Dori, Nori, Ori
and Thorin.
Oh, and it's 13 dwarves, including Thorin. iirc, the book made a point that one of the reasons Bilbo was included was so it wouldn't be an unlucky thirteen.
I think the dwarves' introductions were done so quickly for the trailer's sake. I don't think it would be that fast in the actual movie.
Edit: Oh and Sylvester McCoy (the 6th Doctor) will play Radagast the Brown!
Ah okay thanks
It just felt like "Snow White and the 7 (in this case 13) dwarves" with "stupid/silly" names...when it was going through them so fast...and with one of the scenes showing one of the dwarves tossing plates and setting the table so fast... >_>
So yeah, I hope you're right about that!
Hooray for Radagast! -
Quote:From what I remember Elves did come to help them at Helm's Deep.Indeed. I was bothered by that and the presence of elves at Helm's Deep.
Now the thing is, as far as I can remember, it wasn't "300 (humans/Rohans) vs 10,000" with 5,000 elves coming like it said in the movies, it was more like 5,000-6,000 Rohans vs the 10k orcs.
Then some more re-inforcements came (humans and elves) making it close to like 6,000-7,000 vs 10,000.
Also, Rohan's king left like 1,000 men to help guard Edoras as a "just in case Sauroman doesn't come to Helm's Deep."
That's from what I remember; again haven't read the books in a while.
Edit:
Hmm, just looked at wikipedia (yes, yes...) but it seems I was wrong about the whole thing...hmm...how do I make that stuff up?
*needs to read the books again* -
Now that I could get behind!
Edit:
Just watched the trailer and the only thing I didn't care for was Bane's voice....or the muffled voice behind the mask that is...
I had no idea what he said to Bruce Wayne/Batman...hope that's not like that throughout the whole movie. -
Hmm...never heard of it before...trailer looked okay...*shrugs*

I feel PJ did a incredible job w/ the LOTR adaption as movie, despite the near-unfathamible change in TT w/ Faramir...still do not understand that jarring deviation from the core narrative and what purpose did it serve...if I ever have a chance to sit down w/ PJ and Fran, I would dive deep into this...but I digress.....
I agree; really enjoyed the LotR movies but the one thing that I hated was Faramir's different stance compared to the books.
*shrugs* -
Looking good!
Although I haven't read The Hobbit in a year or more but...I thought Gloin was a part of the 12 dwarves, Gandalf + Bilbo....am I remembering wrong?
The only thing that kind of threw me in the trailer was when they had Gandalf naming all the dwarves...it seemed like they were kind of doing it so fast, just felt cheesy in some way...*shrugs*
Edit:
Also wondering how much, if any, the movie(s) will touch on Gandalf and the White Council fighting off Sauron in the woods. -

Somewhat similar to what Thirty-Seven said; I'm on Liberty so I can't speak for Exalted (don't want to play there either).
But Liberty still has badge runs for things...
I will admit I can't say for sure since lately I haven't been able to play much at night (mainly cause of work but other things too).
*shrugs* -
Quote:I know you're only haf-serious, at least I hope you are, lol, but I still feel duty bound to respond that Freedom is in my admittedly limited experience no better or worse than any other server in terms of how 'dumb' (or indeed brainy) the players are.
It's not like many people go do research before they choose a server to start on, looking for the 'Knobhead Server' or anything.
I chose it because it was the first on the list.
Eco
Hehe yes I'm just having fun...
It's interesting how "server names" get their names...
I remember when CoH went live, my friend and I saw the list of the servers on the East Coast and then we just chose randomly..."Liberty"....and there began a great journey of epic-ness...

I never really pvp'd much but didn't mind it too much.
Really just needs to have an objective-based pvp...like capture the flag, hold this point, something other than "kill someone" pvp for someone like me to get into it.
Edit:
Hence, why I liked the SG base raids more than zone pvp (or arena pvp). -

On my StJ/Regen brute I was going to go for the Radial one; more targets, larger cone and a +def buff?
Count me in -
Quote:I'm somewhat confused by what you are saying but...These guys haven't done this more than once, have they?
The majority of players will be doing their MoMs first on a league that's comprised mostly of players that have already done it. Even in the first 2 days of moM going live, it was nigh impossible to stop and "take as much time as you like" to read the blurb. "awesome periods of downtime"? On a trial?
/facepalm.
Eco
I actually really like how the MOM trial is laid out. As a leader I can go phase by phase saying what to expect instead of typing all of it during the trial and not actually participating in the trial (for the 99% of the time).
With the MOM trial, I can say, this happens in phase 1, we all enter and then I can participate too!
Everyone can stock up on inspirations/etc, swap out Destiny powers/etc, really would like to see more of it in the future. -
I noticed the elf in the launcher and was thrown off by it only because we don't have "elves" in the game like every other fantasy MMO (yes we have elf ears, etc....but you get my point, yes?).
Beyond that...meh... -
Quote:Agreed as well. It's a bit odd that StJ has an AoE with a very limited range, but with that sound I feel like I'm crushing enemies left and right, while TW has AoEs where I really am crushing enemies left and right, but it doesn't sound like it.
I love the Staff Fighting animations...now I'm hoping the sound effects are just as awesome. -
Quote:I agree. I didn't get the TW powerset (I did get the TW weapon pack for free just in case/when I get the TW powerset thoughI don't like the set. I think it looks and sounds poor. That's why I didn't buy it. For those that like it, I'm glad you got a powerset that appeals to you. Something for everybody in this game, that's one of the many things that makes it great.
) but glad that some people are happy with TW

Although you missed last week's awesomeness of Staff Fighting...I forgive you...
Thanks VK -
Quote:Right now, more than ever, it feels like the BAF and LAM trials are run over-and-over incessantly. Perhaps it is just on my server, Freedom, which has a community of players that are content to farm. But maybe the issue is more widespread.
....
Is there any way to fix this?
I'll be honest and say I didn't read anything except what I've quoted but...
Come to Liberty...we are running more than BAF/Lambda (on a daily/nightly basis too!)! -
Quote:Oh yeah. I ran 3 MoMs so far, all on Freedom, and in the first time got lucky with a leader who explained everything to me. Second time I also got a good leader so I didn't need to say anything, although it failed because people wouldn't read what she wrote (happens a lot over there, even with the most basic stuff - for example, in EVERY Lambda I've been on, when that ginormous 'MARAUDER WILL USE NOVA FIST STAND BACK', well, I stand back and I simply know half the league will die (since so many people play melee nowadays, including me lately). Some BAFs are terrible, haven't failed one yet but when prisoners start escaping and the leader asks 'Where's the leak' and nobody answers I have to run like a madman on my lil' Stalker to find it and announce.
But on the third MoM the leader didn't say much and I instructed people. Of course we ended one of the battles with 3 seconds left because two of them wouldn't read when I typed (in caps, three times) 'DON'T ACCEPT DESDEMONA'S REZ'. But it all went well
I will say, sometimes people don't have league chat added to their chat window/tab...so it may be because of that.
It's all so "obvious" to us that aren't new to the whole thing but there may be some that are new and don't have it in their tab/window. I know I haven't checked to make sure everyone can read what I type (if I'm leading) in a long time but there are times when I wonder...
