Quote:That is wise, since a safe bet for me is a bet I cannot lose.
Meh, no one/nothing is fool-proof. You've been wrong before and so have I.
There's always hope that power pool customization will happen some time...just like the new NW arcs say, "there's always hope, no matter how small." ^_^ -

Quote:The reason the patch is so big is because some moron in version control keeps changing a bunch of text strings to all lowercase and then fixing them--sometimes in alternating patches--and all the data files have to be regenerated and piped down to the client.
Y U NO like lowercase?!?

Ever since I read a post on the forums years and years ago I have always chosen Magic as all my toons origins.
I'm not a RP'er/etc so it really doesn't matter to me....
Main reasons why I chose Magic:
1.) The origin temp power you get does energy damage which helps light Oil Slick Arrow as a last resort. Also does -res which is nice.
2.) All SO enhancement vendors have the Magic SOs/DOs ON TOP of the store/screen. No wading through Science, Natural and then look for the specific one...oh wait, you scrolled too far and now you're in the Mutant SOs!
Yeah, #2 was my #1 reason for doing all (new) toons with Magic. -
Quote:What?!? Are we talking the same Kinetics power set that I'm thinking of?Kinetics would be a pretty poor set on MMs; pets are unaffected by +Recharge, and Kinetics doesn't have many tools for keeping them alive. I'd much rather they proliferated /Cold or /Rad. If they do give MMs /Kin I hope they modify it fairly heavily so it can actually be useful on the AT.
I would have loved to have Kinetics as a secondary for my Ninjas MM.
Robot primary? Meh, they're ranged so they can die...ninjas though! -
I'd have to agree with Arcanaville here...too many powers with too many options for people to make them all happy; "easier" to just do power pool customization "at some point."

Quote:I don't know, maybe it's cause I'm not a part of the really cool kids club or something but the closed betas I've been a part of haven't been that much better in terms of communication between us (testers) and the devs, etc...A bit... lol. ;]
I can't remember a closed beta I wasn't a part of, after the initial walkthrough of the new content post Freedom I don't test anything, it's no different then the general section of the boards now.
That's understandable from a subscription retention pov, but that's where the advantages end in a testing environment where 'you pay you're in' is the lone requirement.Que sera, sera.
I think there was only like 1 (maybe 2) closed betas where there was actual communication from the devs on what to test, etc...
*shrugs*
Oh and since it's 11:28am EST now...I can't login to the beta server....can I complain now?
Y U NO ENTRY?!? -

So if you're traps, you should be able to keep the EB/AV from running away with the Web Grenade power (spam it on the EB/AV).
Usually Poison Trap from the Traps set can hold an EB pretty easily (you solo'ing with or without AVs on?)....that should also stop 'em from running.
Like someone already said, give your bots (at least the Assault bot and maybe 1 of the lieutenant bots) 4 small purple inspirations each. That should definitely keep them alive for a while at least.
Email yourself some inspirations if it helps.
And if you really want to lay the smack down, get some Shivans from Bloody Bay...or nukes from Warburg. -

Quote:heheh...I feel the same way sometimes..Funny, sometimes I Swear that half the ingame chanel members have me on randomized iggy. :-/
Even on the forums; there's a nice discussion going on, I post and then bam...no one posts after me...it's like I checked the "thread closed" checkbox when I replied or something.
But I have no one on ignore on the forums and a full list in-game (all gold spammers). -
Quote:It could be he reviews/plays really old MMOs....the ones that use the arrow keys for movement.......
But he reviews F2P MMOs for a living, yet ran around for half the video saying he was "having trouble with the controls." It's W,A,S,D + mouse to look around, just like every other MMO out there, dude. -
Quote:Yeah I know such weapons are on the drawing board....just wish someone would break the drawing board and say "no more".
...
Interesting you want someone to say "no more" on something like that but are fine with Google (or whoever) glasses that could be used to track where you go, what you see, etc...
I'm the opposite of you (I think) in this case...don't trust Google...a new cool gun? Whatever, even if it is man-portable...still have to have someone ticked off enough or paid enough, sick enough, etc... to use it on someone (thinking personally not necessarily for war purposes which is another thing entirely). -
Quote:hehe yeah I liked that part..To be fair he said repeatedly he was a new player and he was participating just to show things off, not actually trying to join in on everything, like showing us what the hospital did (even if that didn't exactly work).
"alright guys let me die and show the hospital off."
*dies and is in hospital*
"okay so you see...."
*TELEPORTED!*
"uh...well, nm...let me die again."
*dies and is in hospital"
"So you see Dream Doctor there beating up on.."
*TELEPORTED!*
"..."
I think the guy doing the tp'ing was troll'ing him for fun -

Quote:He never clicked on any of the momentum required powers either I don't think. Struck me as a little silly, the thing has a big glowing orange circle around it; you'd think that'd entice someone into clicking on the thing.
I don't blame him too much.
He had about 20% of the people saying, "YOU'RE A NOOB! YOU'RE STUPID!" (hyperbole but close)
20% asking random questions, "click on this!" "no, click x, y and then z!"
Then 20% of him actually trying to know how to move, attack, etc...
And he was listening in on what the devs were saying (which was more important to him most likely since he's a reporter and "doesn't care" if they fail the trial so-to-speak).
Sure a big orange circle might be seen under normal circumstances but with him trying to do 10 things at once, he may not have seen it.
Or maybe he did see it but thought it was a bad thing... -
Quote:I'm wondering as well...we're so impatient!Any eta for open beta?
Has it been a "couple of days" ?
A couple still means two, right?
No VIP beta i23 boards yet either heh....those usually come up a day or two earlier than the actual beta....usually at least.
Maybe tomorrow....*has the day off, come on, you want to open it up for us tomorrow right?*

Quote:I kinda know what you mean. I remember when they came out with X2 and started releasing clips like this. I was still excited for the movie and enjoyed it when it came out, but I regretted following the movie so closely up until the release.
I hope they don't release too much more. They should just let the anticipation simmer.
Indeed...leave some things to the imagination
But if they release more clips...I'm not watching them! -
I must say I shouldn't have watched that...I "hate" watching actual clips from a movie. Trailers are different, to me, because it's not in a straight progression/time wise.
*shrugs*
one more month....one more month... -
Quote:I noticed that too, especially when he got up to go shoo the kid away...I'm like, "wow, is he really that tall or is he sitting on the floor and the PC/monitor on a cardboard box?"No one else was concerned that he was apparently broadcasting from the empty basement of an abandoned house?
"Not (very) professional looking" in the least I would say. Nothing against the guy himself, he seemed nice.
Quote:It was anther thing Zwill said in chat, I should have been more clear about that, sorry. His term was "Dev Magic".
Oh, well...hmm...missed the chat for the most part...so...*shrugs*
STOP BREAKING ME DOWN WITH FACTS!

Quote:I think there was a bit of Dev magic involved in how easy he was. None of the incarnate trial tests have run like that, and that is with devs and some of the best players in the game. I don't see a few devs and press people who don't even know how to re-toggle flying through the trial w/o a bit of help.
I'm not going to totally rule out "dev hax" of some sort but...I don't think there was any.
As far as beta itrials go...
I think when DD was new in vip beta; I led a DD trial and it was successful the first time.
*shrugs*
We'll see
Edit:
I think others completed a DD itrial before I led mine since I started mine at 10:40pm EST or so. -
Quote:I can think of two reasons.
1) In-Game Reason: Cole's Pride, as well as the Well. Cole may very well not wish to use such a power, because he feels, as Champion, he doesn't need to resort to such 'trickery'. He can simply rely on his overwhelming might and 'I am Good. I am Justice. You are Evil. You are Injustice!'. The Well simply wants the most powerful to protect it, thusly it wants both sides at full power.
2) Design Reason: Two different fights using the same gimmick is poor design.
True on both points...doesn't mean I can't "whine" a bit
The itrial just seems very "blah" to me (then again it could be like watching baseball on TV to me...BOOORING, but playing it is fun).....
Having the "ultimate" guy be easier than another "lieutenant" stinks to me that's all -
Quote:Keep in mind, if I understand this correctly, that during the Black Swan fight random people lose their incarnate powers temporarily. This probably includes the level shifts, which could explain why it took so long.
So, my point still stands; Black Swan is more of a threat than Tyrant since she takes away our Incarnate'ness....
Why can't Tyrant do the same thing?
Yes I assume that we "took" the ability to take away the connection to the well from Black Swan when we defeat her, but you don't think Tyrant would have a backup of that ability or something?
