Quote:And it isn't so much that I lament not being heard. Trying to integrate the ustream crowd in the event would be just juggling too many monkeys in addition to the live audience.
It's just more that the heavy audience participation angle rather than the presentation angle makes me feel much more -aware- that I'm almost strictly an observer. At least when information is being presented to us it's not a thought that's forefront, I'm trying to pay attention to make sure I catch the information. When it's just the devs asking questions at 'us' that we can't answer, I'm very aware of it.
I felt this way too.
Last year's "pummit" was somewhat fun to watch cause it was "all information" with a little q&a at the end.
This year was a lot more "q&a" but with that, Ustream didn't get much attention (which I know is hard to do)...so...yeah...definitely didn't watch a lot of it.
I only watched the design a power set panel....hooray radiation armor!
I'm just curious; Throwing Weapons....what's there to it? You throw x....so...what's there to design? Animation wise I feel it's like Dual Pistols...how do you make 9 different animations for shooting a gun (or in this case throwing random weapons)?
Then they made DP beautiful (in my opinion) animation wise but then the you'll have the people who don't like the "gun fu".
*shrugs*
Not that I don't mind new power sets; but that's why I was (nuts) for Rad. Armor -
So anything new announced? I missed pretty much all of it due to the baby shower I was at
-
Just use AoEs...Nem's veng doesn't grant +def to AoEs

Most have already said what I'd say but I'll say it anyways:
My thoughts *in no particular order*:
Ice Control
Force Field
Sonic Resonance
Devices
Energy Melee
Gravity Control (just remove Dimension Shift w/ a new, cool power *waves to Arbiter Hawk*)
Broadsword (or Katana)
War Mace (or Axe)
The last two power sets, to me, are "fine" but they need new/different animations to set them apart from each other. -
Quote:hahaha that'd be pretty close for me.More than one Day Job badge in a new issue.
(Having one gets this:)
*not really*
A small change? hmm....Well, not sure...right now the small change would be "no change."
I've been thinking about "retiring" after my 1 yr. sub runs out (which will be in March or so of next year)...I don't know...I just miss a lot of my "friends/sgmates" and it's getting harder and harder to get teams together when I play.
Then again, if I got a real job (or get day shift hours) I might not have that issue -

As for what kind of gimmick they'll use to make them a real threat... hm... I wonder how unfair it would be to give random enemies an attack that could put a negative levelshift on players...
Don't worry, all the league will have to do is jump through 5 hoops, dodge a beam after the 5th hoop; all without touching the ground to get the lvl shifts back!
And for the badge, the whole league has to do it within 5 seconds of the first person jumping in the first hoop!

Quote:I think that it would lead to a more balanced and more interesting game if enemies had mez suppression as well, but only in the long term. In the short term, you're looking at the standard problems that come with such a big design change. That is, a lot of players being unhappy because their cheese has been moved, a lot of players being unhappy because they've been nerfed, and a lot of balance changes for mez powers (as you mentioned, area mezzes wouldn't need such a big penalty at that point) and the mez system in general to accommodate this new design paradigm.
For example, how do you make it so that a controller can't be screwed up by an energy melee tank using whirling hands before the controller fires off their area hold? There are some potential solutions to it (such as making a system where mezzes are 'ranked' so that harder mezzes such as hold replace softer ones such as fear) but it would take some time to decide on the method and balance it correctly.
My stance on it is that if we were dealing with a game that hadn't been released yet, I would definitely support a system like this, but since we're dealing with player expectations the amount of boat rocking is greater than the long term benefit in my opinion.
Yeah for a new game I can see changes like that (or the ones I've mentioned)...since mez in this game atm is just "on or off" probably won't change.
Never know though -

Call it "GACK! My heart died!"
You almost made me spit out the water that I was drinking!
But to the OP's point...wow...that's...not right.
I actually prefer Pizza Hut over Papa John's or Domino's. *shrugs* Every place like that has its days....
Edit:
Oh and look! A palindrome!

Quote:I'm not sure what to make of this so....If this was also true back in I10, then either you play Blasters far better than the average player, or you play defenders, controllers, and dominators far worse than the average player, because the impact of mez on Blasters was measured to be significantly worse.
Quote:I would give them tanker level mez protection.
- Defenders and Corruptors (with the notable exception of TA) either have mez protection as part of their power set, have powerful debuffs/and/or defenses that reduce the number of mezzes that land to a mere 5%, or in the case of Empathy/Pain Dom, need not enter combat at all.
Where is the mez protection in Kinetics, Dark Miasma, Cold Domination, Thermal Radiation, etc... (for the caster)?
Maybe you're talking/thinking of teaming situations? If so, then to me the whole argument is not worth talking about since Blasters can team up with someone that can give them mez protection.
Quote:
- Controllers and Doms can lock an entire spawn down by themselves eliminating incoming mez. Controllers get a weaker version of of the above defenses and debuffs but can stack that on top of their control. Dominators get mez protection when Domination is up which is easily more than half the time on SOs alone.

At this point in time I have used 1 experienced charge (she has used none). I have logged out in the police station to gain additional XP from the day job (she has not). I am 1.5 bubs of XP behind her with all the above things considered.
Quote:Blasters with out mez protection are broken conceptually and mathematically in comparison to every other AT in the game.
Edit:
I've said it before though, I think that there should be some sort of "scaling" mez. protection for everyone so that by lvl 50 (or the max lvl in whatever game you may play) you can at least withstand 1 application of a mez attack (be it sleep, hold, disorient, etc...).
After that the "tankers, scrappers, etc..." should still be ahead in mez protection. -
Let's be honest...
You just made this set up for the one and only...
Dillo.
*hoorb* -
o_O
At first I read that as Cheeseboxing! -
Quote:No you don't. You are as far away from "get it" as it is possible to be and still be in this plane of existence . Tank implies defense and resistance. No one is asking for that.
We just want to be blasters and be able to keep blasting. Being a damage dealer and being unable to deal damage in mid/late game content is pretty counter intuitive (for some at least.) Playing the game is fun. Sitting at the keyboard perma mezzed and having a total of 3 powers you can use while the other non-blaster members of the team continue along as if mez didn't exist is not fun.
What I don't understand is the 2nd paragraph. Being "perma mez'd" by a Rikti Chief Mentalist is no fun...I've been there with plenty of toons.
But this isn't something that happens only to Blasters, it happens to every "squishy" that doesn't have a mez protection power in their primary or secondary.
Again in the 1-50 content; my defenders, controllers, dominators (I don't get perma-dom until lvl 50 usually), etc...all get held/mez'ed and they can't do their job.
I'd love it if my kinetics toons could heal while being held, or if my controllers could apply a hold of my own to the mob while mez'ed, etc...
I guess my question is:
So...what would you propose to have Blasters "keep blasting" without giving them a mez. protection power (in their primary/secondary)? At least Blasters can still attack while mez'd. -

And no, if the whole set went on the market, I don't think that would cheapen the concept. There will be two other VIP t9 sets I can wear for exclusivity by then.
..
I'd have to agree with Hopeling here.
The Celestial set will be "so last year" when it gets to the market (if it goes there at all). We'll have at least one other new and cool costume set to show off with. -
Hooray!
I'll be at a friend's baby shower Sat. until 1:30pm but...hopefully will be home by 2pm EDT at the latest! -
Quote:Yeah 1200 points is still to much for me... if they drop them to 800 I *might* be willing to buy them.
....
I agree. I bought the 5 character server slots for 1200 and then next week it went down to 800 points for 5 slots...
So..yeah...I still think 1200 points for 10 enhancements is a bit much so...I'll wait and hope they go down by 50%.
If they get halved, I'll buy at least one...maybe two (depending on how many free points I have saved up at the time). -
Quote:Synapse can become "uncomfortable" with the performance of any SBE proc, label it's ppm rate a "bug", or a "mistake" and reduce it to something he is happier with at any time even after you purchase it.
A proc that followed the same 20% io to 3ppm sbe formula as it's peers got dropped to half it's effectiveness making it's current iteration a complete abaration as far as IO to SBE conversions go and regardless of escalation they denied me all and any recompense, and refused any kind of refund/points credit making this pretty much a case of bait and switch.
The first time this ever happened was recently so buyer beware with any and all sbe proc purchases you may not nessarily keep what you pay for as performance purchased is apparently the only part of a paragon market sale that isn't "final"
Damn shame too cause I would have dumped mad loot into the market to get from t9 to vip, to get more sbe procs including purple but I can't support dishonest and dishonorable business practices and those who practice them.
Just curious, are you a VIP (subscriber to CoH)?
If so, you're still "supporting dishonorable business practices and those who practice them." -

PL always starts out I just need to get over this hump, then its I want to get level 20 so my toon can do something....
I didn't read all of your post but just wanted to say, "pl'ing to 22 is the hump" for me at least.
Once I get lvl 25 common IOs in a toon; I'm good to go. Before that...ugh....ugh, ugh... -
Hmm, finally the enhancement storage goes on sale...but only by 25%.
Well if I had the points I'd buy it but...since I don't...I'll hope and wait for a 50% sale on 'em. -
Quote:Meh I get that feeling with my Kin/Rad Def; or any other toon for the most part.... Playing a blaster as they currently are is an art form akin to running along a razor sharp wire. Tip one way or the other and its game over. Stay on the wire and shred your feet but at least you succeed.
...
What I mean by "just damage" is that for 90% of Blaster's powers (from primary/secondary) they all do damage (yes there are some ST holds, etc... but in general).
Whereas I really enjoy my main (kin/rad def) cause I can buff, debuff, heal and attack.
*shrugs*
Anyways back to the OP...
New powers! It'll be interesting how they look (animation/effects wise) and all that. -
Quote:So we should balance the AT inherent based on the premise that all Blasters will be getting Clarion? All it does for me is save an occasional breakfree and once I have clarion I just forget about it.
Once I9 and inventions hit I often wished for the original defiance. Softcapped defenses are the way to go for a blaster and that would have meant an almost constant damage buff.
I'm not saying for the devs not to take it into consideration but to say, "well from lvls 1-50 you'll stink but once you get Clarion (insert x, y or z incarnate power) you'll see that the AT inherent is awesome!"
To be honest, I don't play Blasters that much; mainly because they're so boring to me (they're "just damage"). I do have 2 lvl 50 Blasters (and 1 AR/Dev in the making) so I do have some experience with 'em. -
*shrugs* I've always liked the new Defiance. Being able to attack while mez'ed? Yes please.
I know it's saved me at least 2 times that I can think of (when solo'ing).
