  1. Bad day. Someone at work accidentally saved over an eight-page document I had written up for this morning. Not good at all.

Hopefully the rest of you have a happy happy joy joy pain-free afternoon.
  2. Pro: Get exactly what you want.

Con: None of my characters have anything close to the number of merits required to get anything I want.

This is the reason farming is bad for the game- people start thinking that the game's all about farming, and have trouble being convinced otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]Change that to excessive farming, and you've got it.

But you can say that about ANY type of play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The general public have become excessive about farming. Pre-MA, I had about a 5-10% chance of finding myself on a farm team.

Post-MA, I can get a farm team in about 5 minutes, or a regular one in 30.

I couldn't put the line 'nip it in the bud' in one of my descriptions. It seems the filters are a bit nitpicky. Another forum that I frequent won't let the name of a famous author through the filter, either. Don't even think about discussing Alfred Hitchcock over there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    How about Michael Moorcock?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
You know, since this is about a hypothetical situation where incoming damage doesn't matter (like fighting a dummy), I have to nominate Thug/Poison or Thug/Trap (or even Merc).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking from personal experience here, which is pretty useless, but lethal resists end game take a sizable chunk out of your DPS potential. Fight Longbow with mercs and your offense gets cut nearly in half or worse.

With buffs/debuffs included, the Blaster beats the MM, mostly because the Blaster gets to use his secondary, while the MM doesn't due to the no buff/debuff idea.
  7. Costume parts. Great stuff.

Temp powers. Sands of Mu is very handy.

    Respecs. More = better.

So rather than just quit the team, that you asked to join, once you decided it was not something you wanted to do, you decided to be a total jerk and intentionally cause team wipes?

    What a class act...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I get the impression they got themselves killed and he didn't overexert himself to save them, rather than overtly trying to train on to them.

    High level foes

Encountered a lvl 20 Consiglieri in an otherwise normal lvl 14ish MA mish. Rest of the place was completely within 14-16.
  10. I'd like to get pedantic (well, technically speaking, I'm always pedantic... and admitting it is more pedantry) and point out that profane != obscene.

Profane is a reference to things that are unholy or offensive to that which is sacred. Profane language would include damn, hell, the names of demons and their ilk (presumably anything in the Goetia), and so forth.

Obscene is for language of a crude or lewd nature, as the OED puts it, "offending to moral nature." Examples would be the f word, the various synonyms for excrement, and so forth.

I think everything mentioned in this thread would be seen as obscenities, not profanity.
  11. Afternoon, people. Spent most of the day moving my sister. Well, technically her stuff, as she's self-propelled.

*looks around at all the Dr. Who jokes*

Doctor Who? Who indeed. Only mental weaklings prefer to get their time travel fix from Doctor Who.

Real spanners do Continuum. Mad hardcore, yo.

And speaking of mad hardcore, Ninja Gaiden II is brutalizing me repeatedly in ways that are neither comfortable nor sanitary. Thank you, Team Ninja, I really needed you to fill the entire %@!# screen two layers deep with projectiles that are either on fire or explode. Or both.

Got it in one. I've been on a lot of teams lately that had people who felt similarly.
  13. Yeah, a Fire/Fire Blaster under ideal conditions is a scary sight. I've seen one on a team with a Kin and a Rad.

    Burn, baby, burn.

Generally low resistances to fire make it even sweeter.
  14. Gone crazy? I was BORN crazy. And that was a long time before CoX came out.
  15. Take care, and looking forward to seeing your return.

Also, in line with my recent habit of listening to nothing but 80's girl bands, keep it real.

Care to elaborate. There is no basis for some of these symptoms. I agree some of these are highly probable.

Except for death, those are the real side effects of some drug. Didn't make a note of the name. It was just the first thing I found in google. Pick and choose which ones fit I guess.

This sort of thing is why I take our modern pharmaceutical community with a grain of salt. I'm still waiting for them to come out with:

    Izza a Philly cheesesteak! :3

    [/ QUOTE ]
Uhm, no. No it's not. One can only get a "Philly" cheesesteak in Philadelphia or it's surrounding suburbs. The best place to get a cheesesteak is John's Roast Pork . If you ever find yourself in our fair *cough cough* city, get on over to John's and grab a real cheesesteak.

This ends my shameless plug for John's Roast Pork .

Thank you and have a great day

    Also, hiya PB!! *pounce-snuggles*

    [/ QUOTE ]

All a good Philly cheesesteak requires is a good roll, some nice brazziole (preferably top of the round), and cheese. The roll is important. Also, it must be greasy. Onions and mushrooms are optional.

    Mayonnaise is not an option.

*Greets Madisen as he runs by, screaming and trailing leeches behind. Thinking quickly he dives into a pot of hot coffee, the intense Rookery coffee instantly kills the leeches and he bobs back to the surface a moment later.*

Coffee-flavored leeches! Filled with tasty, tasty sackperson vitae! Not only nutritious and organic, but now in handy bite-sized pieces!

I was writing stuff for work, and swapping emails with someone in Australia, so I was actually being productive. Productive being a relative term in my case.
  21. Preemptive healing is inviting a Bubbler or a couple VEATs to your team.

A good empath reacts to enemy animations, not simply the colorful bars telling him teammate health. You don't have infinite heals. The job of an empath, or any defender, is to keep everyone alive during hard fights, not keep everyone at full health during easy ones. The scrappers handle the easy fights.

Scrappers only have two kinds of fights. Easy ones and easy ones that somehow make you die.
  22. My second character was an Emp/Rad.

First thing- yes, you're weak at soloing. You can deal with it, but your best powers are buffs, and you don't really get much out of them. Rad has a team-support secondary effect; -def makes it easier to hit, but doesn't increase your survivability.

Second- I'm assuming you're running MA missions with custom enemies? Don't do that, only go against normals. MA enemies are tougher than normal. Better damage output by far.

Must have powers? For Empathy, everything after Fortitude. If I remember, that's Fortitude, the two auras (Recov/Regen), and Adrenaline Boost. The aura heal is worth having, since it affects you. I'd skip the rez and one of the to single-target heals. I usually prefer absorb pain, due to the low endurance cost. Recharge is slower, though. Clear mind is a toss-up; I like having it.

As for Rad, grab and slot your single-target attacks as soon as possible. Possibly even the snipe. For solo purposes, single-target damage is something you need more of.

This would be my power/slotting priority:
Single-target damage powers (Not the snipe)
    Fortitude
Healing Aura (or whatever the PBAoE heal is)
    Snipe/AoE attacks

The End Recovery aura and Fortitude are your two Big Powers. Take and slot those up as quickly as possible. The next killer power is Adrenaline Boost; in between slot as suits you.

Early game, you heal a lot with an Empath. Don't be fooled into wasting slots, though; late-game you're a buffer. Fortitude, Adrenalin Boost, and the Recov/Regen Auras will be why people want you around.
  23. My not-so-IOed Dark/Shield Brute can drop Shield Charge for around 720 damage to whatever is around, more if there's -res around.

That's a serious AoE to spit out every forty seconds or so. That being said, he doesn't hold a candle to a good Corr or Troller build.
  24. PuGs are awesome. I've probably spent 70% or more of my CoX time in PuGs.

I'm usually on Violet Hayes lately, so holler if you see me around.
  25. *wanders in, giant fork in hand*

My widow is now a fortunata. The team I joined with who was it, Em and Neko, eventually wound down to just me and another guy, and we kept at it until 5. Knocked out like four whole mission arcs, including a "Kill Hero" (Boss, actually) mission in which we took no damage the entire time. Stalker + Fortunata = Stealth Snuffage.

As for video games, I picked up Ninja Gaiden II the other day. Not sure what I think of the new Ryu.

    Also, good morning, peoples.

*impales a stack of pancakes with the giant fork, and proceeds to eat them off it like a pancake popsicle*
